Dave trying so hard not to break down in tears at the end was probably the most wholesome bromance moment in the fitness industry. Just think about how much everyone loves, respects, and cherishes John, and miss him. Now imagine being the guy who was there with him for basically his whole journey to Pro, and how HE feels. It just hits that much harder after hearing Dave's voice crack at the end as he tries turning John's life into an inspirational teaching moment for everyone looking to get there. John is no doubt proud to have called Dave a friend. Respect.

The end of the video had me crying like a baby!! I wish I could have met him! I am a pastor of a church and was over 380 pounds and decided I needed to get in better shape, so I started watching his videos and it made me want to push harder and learn more. I binged watched his video for several weeks learning as much as I could. Woke up one morning wanting to quit and give up because I wasn’t seeing any difference in my weight so I went and watched a few of his videos and listen to him talk about his stomach and a heart problem but yet he continued to work passed it and it drove me to get back up and work harder! I ordered one of his shirts one morning and then went to watch one of his videos to see a video about him leaving this world and I found myself crying and heartbroken for a man and his family I never met! As I watch this video getting ready to hit the gym this morning I’m wearing that shirt I purchased off his site and had his family on my heart, I pray his family is doing good! GOD Bless and thanks for the video.

For me, what I loved about John's videos, was his lack of dogmatic limitation. So many Online trainers/influencers deal with a strict belief in right/wrong, effective/useless. Functional training, high volume/low volume, Time under tension/explosive, heavy/moderate, failure/2 in the tank. Everyone seems to have these polar absolutes. John, was always 'yes, it can all work, it does all work, explore what is best for you, and along the way, this is what I'm doing today, this is something I learned that you might find pretty cool' .
He had such an encyclopedic knowledge born of experience and love of resistance training in all it's forms, that he could have justifiably used it to build an ego; but instead, he wanted everyone to know as much as he did, so that we could all be the best 'us' we could be, and enjoy our training as much as he did.
I don't know about religion from a hill of beans, but I do know genuine generosity of spirit and human decency when I see it, and that was John Meadows to me.

The part about motivation is absolutely legit. I am always honest with people when they ask. "How do you stay motivated?" I flat out tell them to stop worrying so much about motivation, in the gym and in life. You are never going to be motivated 100% of the time. There are gonna be a lot of days where you feel like absolute dog shit and don't feel like doing something you know you should. It isn't about being motivated...it's about being DEDICATED to your goals.

Ive never felt so much pain from someone who i didnt personally know, his death was such a shock, i had just tragically and suddenly lost my cousin, then john, then a good friend of mine 2 months ago, john really helped me cheer up after my cousin passed, the past 1.5 years have been tough, i never even thought about depression before but now i understand the torment first hand.

I didn't start to follow john until about a year before his passing. My nickname for him, was gentleman John meadows. Just seemed like such a great guy. Luckily, I have videos of his, I haven't seen. RIP, gentleman John.

Juji, thanks so much for the cool vid.. My 9 yr old son and I watched so many of John’s videos. Heck we still do. I wish I could meet some of you guys we watch. For me, the way John treated everyone is what inspired me. He was such a nice normal guy, loved his kids and Mary. Maybe it’s the positive vibe he had and he is how I found you. Now we watch you and I must say my son loves watching the “back flip guy”. Stay fun and positive and we will continue watching you!!! Thanks so much.
    With love from NC

John almost died back in 2007 when he had a rare intestinal issue and mentioned many times in the years afterwards when you’ve had a brush with death it gives you a new perspective on life, like you’re living on borrowed time. I think it was that which inspired him to give up his day job (he’d worked in finance for JP Morgan Chase) and pursue bodybuilding not only as a coach but also for himself to turn professional (which he did in his 40’s). A really rare case of consistent work ethic and passion that shows you can be great in anything so long as you’re persistent and always want to improve. I really miss him.

I just subscribed to your channel because of this tribute video. John Meadows helped me get back into the gym when I was depressed and didn't think I couldn't do it anymore. He gave me the motivation and now I'm addicted to the iron. I wish I could of personally met him but his videos made it feel like I knew him. He is definitely a legend and his legacy will never die! Thanks again for this video and I'm definitely going to start checking out your videos to get some advice. The marathon will continue with us

I didn't knew much about him up until he passed away. Everyone I was following on this space started paying tribute to him. It took me two or three videos to see why. Beyond the great fitness advice, you can clearly see he was a pretty humble, down to ground and helpful guy.
That's a type of figure we really need in this community. People who will offer the kids and newcomers good advice and honesty.
We lost a proper role model. Best wishes to his family and friends. Let's keep the legacy of the good ones alive.

Wow! Thank you guys so much for this. I am near where john lived. I always thought that if i ever ran in to him i would thank him for making me be a better person. He showed me that you get better for you. Not to show off or come off like a bad ass, but because you have character and drive. He was just a special spirit to observe. What a great happy tribute.

    Hi Jujimufu,
Absolutely brilliant tribute video! Really enjoyed it and loved how you covered John's legacy. John's a massive loss to the fitness industry and his legacy will hopefully not be forgotten. John definitely needs to be and deserves to be remembered for his priceless contribution to the fitness industry, as well as his humility which you rightfully mentioned.
Massive thank you for making the video.
    Cheers,
    Billy
