Chris, good to see another video from you highlighting another great person and channel - Carm. That must have been tough for him to approach you, as a stranger, but the way you come across in your videos probably made him feel somewhat safe. I think it was you that introduced me to Linda Cohen, so now I have her three LPs, also. Thanks, Chris

Fine video, brother-somehow I missed notification of it. Yup, Carm's a great guy and I recall the story of him first seeing you in person at HBP. Wow-you sure found some nice rare ones there at a bargain price! Funny I too have pulled out 'Scenes' and played it several times in the last week or so...

Aww brother...thank you for your kind words and as always, for everything! For sure, shall always remember and cherish that first HPB encounter. As I've said, I was quite nervous...my knees were knocking together and everything like I was greeting a celebrity! :-D Amazing BGM with artwork to match, wonderful! 'ISO' sounds to be terrifically interesting. Neat seeing 'Scenes' in close-up. Heck of a score, and indeed cinematic the way it carries us through various emotional landscapes. The artwork and font of 'TNT' reminds me of some of what ECM has done since the 90's. Another one I must hear. I keep thinking I've heard 'Open Strings' before, though it's his later 'Open Mind' I'm thinking of....Well, need to get on that one, and further into MPS which is very compelling from anything I've heard on it. Thanks again much kind sir. Much love right back at you. -Carm and older kitty Fuzzy who watched

Probably the only time in my life anybody viewed me as such..lmao..😃..but as like many good things probably the way the gods planned it..and fated in a positive way 💖.
Well as usual plenty of carm like lp's that you either have or would find of interest..lol..everyone seemed to love the yaki kandru so I am happy I went with it as background music..😃..a huge favorite as you would guess..
Figured since you just featured the galasso I would follow up with the lp..really exceptional for a solo instrument lp..and much like you stated about yourself.
Surprised you have not dipped into mps to much..good to know..😉.
Definitely plenty there for you to explore and enjoy..
Always my pleasure to share some good words and spirit for a good person and spirit it goes well past the music for sure brother 💖.
      Much love chris

Chris, I'm glad I watched this video, you inspired me to come up with one of those, '' Get Rich Quick'' schemes. I thought of printing and selling tee- shirts that have the phrase, ''I Love Carm'' written on the front, i'm sure I'll be a millionaire! That Linda Cohen album seems quite interesting. Craig Anderton was in the baroque/ psych band, Mandrake Memorial, they also had albums on the Poppy label. I discovered Jean- Luc Ponty years ago through his Zappa album. The drummer on ''Open Strings'' is the late Oliver Johnson, who I know from his work with Steve Lacy. I'm getting some world music vinyl gifts together for you. I will get your info from Sherv.

Hey there brother..always great to hear your thoughts and perspective.
And I think you are on to something there..😃..I would definitely wear one with pride..I mean who does not love carm right!..the cohen is very interesting and you may well enjoy.
She worked with anderton on all three of her lp's and they seemed to have a nice musical relationship.
Indeed mandrake memorial out of Philadelphia they made some of the more interesting psychedelic music of that time..it had some different elements other bands were not exploring at the time.
Johnson did at least one excellent highly collectible lp under his own name as well around the time he was working with lacy..excellent drummer and seems to be a forgot figure but not to those in the know like yourself..😃..well as always brother you are too kind ❤.
Appreciate the comment and your input always..much love chris

beautiful video Chris, hope I'll get a chance to meet carm in person one day. I'm with dom, the yaki-kandru stole the show--you must have written about it before since I had it bookmarked.

I once recorded a session in the old Vogue studios, in the north of Paris, legendary place, with a Gran organ taking a whole massive wall in the back, amazing experience I wish I appreciated more back the, as the place has since been destroyed, I believe. The Rolling Stones recorded there in the 60ies… I really need that Colombian record! Fylkingen label is must have, the whole catalogue! Ponty after 73 is quite sketchy, with a few exceptional odd tracks, lost in a sea of bleh… great video, Chris!

      Thanks brother..I bet you will..😃.
Lol..well how can it not..😉..I did indeed a few years ago..took me a long time to source an affordable copy..there second lp was also initially private press but luckily the german folk freak label issued it there making it somewhat easier to find but still on my wl..very similar vibe.
With all the record money in your po coffers I have no doubt both will be on your shelf's at some point..😃.

@@StuntrockConfusion hey there my good brother..wow that is a wonderful story and experience..very sad it was tore down..seems like the natural progression of many good things over time but really does not have to be..oh yes you need both those yaki kandru lp's!..you would definitely appreciate them I am glad I played that and you enjoyed it ❤.
I knew you would know the Nordstrom and the label well 😃..
Very easy to find there I am sure.
I have only handful and surprisingly never paid much for them..making the label I think attractive to those who like that stuff and unfamiliar..😃..would enjoy a video on the label if you ever cared to make it..😉.
💯 with you on ponty!..as much as I love fusion..even I think alot of it is very meh..😂..same I suspect you with techno..you don't love EVERYTHING..lol..thank you brother means alot and I appreciate it ❤.

Hello Chris, nice one again, Yaki Kandru sounds and seems like perfect package. If you dont count vocals the first minutes reminds me somehow one part of Claudio Rocchi Viaggio. Have not of course heard of Indo-jazz but if its even close to Journey in Satchidananda its good. True, sometimes you have to research the backround to understand the music, for me the latest was Marcello Giombini Transvitaexpress that deals with afterlife experiences and is combination of all kind of genres.

    • @johncoltrane68
      @johncoltrane68  2 роки тому

Hi petri always a pleasure to hear your insights as I appreciate them very much..the kandru is very unique in a way..as it have a very strong earthy but mystic quality at times..
Both there records are wounded imo..not a big rocchi fan but I respect his work so I will have to check that lp out since it made a connection for you..he was stormy six if I believe..the indo jazz lps with harriot and mayer are a good east west blend not sure they reach the spiritual peak of journey but nonetheless well worth a go imo.
Ya I think with certain music you have to as it gives one a fuller picture..oh yes transvitaexpress is fantastic a unique lp the original is still on my wl..lol..a journey for sure..😃..much love chris

Can fully understand that Rocchi isnt your favourites. Have to admit that his works and also lps are very uneven. He doesnt seemed to know or decide what was his style. But Viaggio side A is in my papers up there with Falsini, Stalteri, Centazzo...and not least that viaggio was released as early as 1970.

Stellar run through some beautiful records Chris. Wow the Yaki Kondru... fantastic. Love where that went as you spoke. I'll see if I can find it ha. The Iso sounds like something I need to have, very cool. The Linda Cohen I believe we discussed and haven't grabbed any yet thanks for the reminder. The Grasso on ECM also peaked my interest. Overdubbed violin solo...nice. Always good to see you on here my friend. More homework to do here...

Thanks brother..the yaki was also I highlight for alex and stunty..happy I played it..😃..unfortunately rare and not cheap..there second one is a bit more affordable I still need it myself..lol.
The iso is pretty interesting and I like it and you may well too..you will definitely like the cohen lp like we discussed previously..all here lp's are great imo.
The grasso is excellent as carm has stated as well..definitely worth seeking out.
Thanks brother..glad you enjoy and appreciate the videos and find something interesting in them always..much love chris.

Anything on Three Blind Mice to me is worth picking up. I think the videos you did with Carm outdoors many years ago were some of the first I had seen in the VC. Nice stuff here for Carm. Philip Catherine is a favorite on guitar so I’ll check out the Ponty. Peace.

Hey Chris I was digging that Yaki Kandru. Sounds like a more primitive Los Jaivas. I dont know any Columbian music unfortunately. I gotta check early Ponty and Linda Cohen, sound pretty killer. I hope you are doing well. Thanks for the video. Cheers!

      Hey there brother.
Always nice to hear from you..
The kandru shares some vibe with jaivas for sure but possibly more experimental and mystic perhaps..
Really beautiful lp..unfortunately rare and expensive..took me a long time to source a copy..lol.
Both the ponty and cohen would appeal to you me thinks and not hard or expensive to find either always a plus in my book..check them out on yt see what you think..😃..much love chris
