He’s allowing those punks to run the boat. Can anyone imagine how Captain Sig, Captain Johnathan, Captain Keith or Captain Wild Bill would’ve handled a punch like Kenny? Kenny never should’ve been hired and he clearly should’ve been fired long ago.
Knowing Jake and his dad's history... he is upholding the legacy. I can't imagine the stress.

Kenny Jensen and I went to High School together and we were part of the same friend group. We graduated together in '04. I havent seen him in about 15 years. Its so crazy to see him randomly pop up in a UA-cam thumbnail.
I can watch Jake scenes all day. What a great captain and person he tries to be. His vulnerability makes him so likable.

Might be a stupid question, but how do the captains hear random isolated comments from deckhands? I am assuming it is because they are wired for sound for the show.
Otherwise it makes no sense, six guys chattering over raging waves and equipment
Theres usually a com from the bridge to the deck and most captains like to have eyes and ears everywhere they can on their boat. Its not like the captain's rocking out to skynard while the crew is working.

They can hear everything said on the deck there’s microphones on deck and sometimes cameras like on Sigs boat they can see and hear everything
@Ryan S yeah I get that but having worked on a few boats I don't see how one guy talking low to a cameraman could get picked up over the other 4 guys screaming and the thunderous sound of waves and pots slamming against the boat.
This is why they give the 4-1 hand signals on Count, because it is so loud. One crewman saying "cap has been overworking us lately" under his breath would never be heard in the wheelhouse

It sucks their not on the crap but a team player would remain hopeful and keep everyone’s spirits up. All Kenny is doing is bringing everyone down.

It is very hard and you can feel the negative energy on the boat, everyone knows it, you have to keep it to yourself as much as possible and try to tough it out and joke around. Going broke or getting rich, do the job without being intolerable.
Word to the wise.... When the boss tells you to come to his office, just SHUT YOUR MOUTH and hope u keep your job. Thats the problem today
Fear is never a show of respect. If you fear your boss more than you respect him then why work hard for him.
The problem today is that bosses think it’s still the 50’s and that there’s too many people with not enough work to go around when it’s in fact the exact opposite.
The deck boss should have shut him down, well before the capt had to get involved. Aggravating the capt to distraction does everyone on the boat no favors.

Jake Anderson is a great Capt, there is times in crabbing were you catch some and sometimes you don't catch any just how it goes

It’s hard work but as long you show you are trying your best most guys will respect you. I think some boats go to far because there on camera and wanna be extreme but if you can keep up and have a good attitude you’ll gain everyone’s respect real quick

I would gladly love to go out on sea with you. I'd take 1/2 the cut of what you would normally pay a deck hand. I love some danger in waters. I love marine life. I'm an excellent swimmer and most important, the opportunity is the most valuable part of it all.

@@laurbster2680 no but it doesn't hurt to have some swimming skills until the buoy and rescue pod comes out. I was in the military for 5 years Army/Air 3rd generation. I am not afraid of the oceans or storms. Being the best I can be is all that matters 🇺🇸👍

P.s. only 8 deaths ever occurred since the very first premier of deadliest catch. 8.. driving. Scuba diving. Skydiving. Rock climbing, snow boarding/skiing, etc have accumulated more deaths than the whole time of deadliest catch. So no. No fear. Those people that have that information must be supernatural since it seems hard to find the crab yet alone count all of them to decide if season is a go ! Who are these people is my question ?
And to think Jake is one of the most compassionate, understanding Captains on the Bering Sea. Imagine this cat on with Colburn? The applicants for these crab jobs are a very mixed bag. Lots of ex-cons, people wanted by the law, people -about-to-be-wanted by the law, drug addicts, alcoholics, violent criminals.... sketchy to be out on a boat with some of these folks
Alcoholics and drug addicts are especially fun to hang out with when they are sobering up.
