“ I didn’t hit him I didn’t throw it at him” ... yes, yes you did
Hey crazy seeing you again lol. And yeah I completely agree
you try working with these pussies
My respect for zack went through the roof. Kudos sir. You’re the man.
Exactly, while ponytail dad sat on his ass watching young greenhorns getting bullied by sumone who was most likely high..
Its quiet guys like Zach who can destroy a bullie , its the big mouth bullie who will turtle when hands start to fly...been there dun that.
I think he was personally treating him like that because zack picked him and he was trying to get under his skin..I feel like he felt like his position was being threatened having the captain's son on the boat so he was trying to make zack like bad by making his hiree look bad.
Studies have proven that Zacks method produces better results. He wasnt coddling the guy or letting him get away with murder but he wasnt trying to humiliate or aggrevate the new guy into a vendetta...Nicks method gets people who know how to fake looking busy but actually pull the whole damn team down because he isnt part of the team its him against the team and when the team is what produces profit working against the team lowers productivity. Being part of the team while still being accountable for your part is better in nearly even job position.
tldr You make people feel disposable they produce trash
Whenever Zack gets his own boat I would be happy to work my ass off for him. Seems like he'd be a kickass boss.
He is running a boat now

Zack is the type of boss I would want to work for.
Why dose Bill & his son have different last names? 🤔 is it his step SON??
They call them "old school" lets just be honest here, its called that because back then you could get away with assaulting people verbally or physically, there wasn't much to be done back then, I am 46 years old been in 3 Unions and done just about everything at one point, I had good mentors and bad ones, some taught you the job others wanted to see if you could survive the torment, usually what works the best is a balance.
Screaming and yelling only causes tension and stress, these things lead to accidents, fights or mistakes and on a job like this its the last place you want that to happen, "old school" doesn't work today because its abused and misunderstood by the people who pretend they know what it means.
Bingo. 27 years as a private contractor. I agree
It doesn't matter if you've only got 6 months on your first job you know this man is just a piece of shit... I know old school and this attitude isn't it
Nah hard to get fired regardless in a union
@@cookinghuntingcasting.1090 I watched plenty of people get fired, its not as hard as you think and unions aren't what they used to be.
"old school" through all my trades I've worked usually means insecure and uncomfortable in your role so you belittle others
The ones that shout and scream at new people on deck.
They forget they had to start as the new guy once...
No, they remember and went through it themselves. Probably worse.
@@matthewhaverkamp8657 yeah but they where new to it...you have to start somewhere...
Its called paying your dues.
Shit mentality to think ‘well I had it bad I’m going to take it out on the new guy like I had it’ , immature and bully behaviour ,
Well Zack is still alive so I’d say he won
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Also a captain now
There’s a difference between a leader and a boss.
Zach is right you can push yet build someone up. I was a plumber/HVAC apprentice and dealt with “old school” few times ending knuckling up. But once a foreman when my crew was stuck I got in there, deadlines I was first there on site on weekends, if I knew my guys had important family commitments I cut them early and stayed late. My apprentices on my crew out worked all in the shop because I taught them how to get respect by giving it, my crews new when we beat deadlines I Gita bonus from the boss but understood it’s not possible without a solid crew and there was always a lil extra in it for them to make my job site look good. The other foreman could never figure out why my jobs were the most requested. They had been in the trade 30 yrs I was just some punk 25 yr old foreman. Remember respect goes along way it’s what all alphas want but it’s how you get it.
Zack is so chill
Imagine letting the role of deck boss go to your head
And look at where that got him. Now he's dead.
He was trash.

They don’t just hire anyone off the street. U suppose to have some background fishing or crabbing experience. So when capt bill says the new guy acts like he doesn’t know what he is doing. i can’t say i’ve worked any job as hard as crabbing, but in any rough work your team can really make or break itself. if you can keep up spirits and morale across the whole team, regardless of who’s not up to parr or what happens, a shit job can feel like fun.
damn rights. went crabbin and we had a 10 day trip and being up for 30 plus hours you would tyhink it is hell but with a dope crew you can do anything.
Amazing how a captain would let his employees abuse someone on his deck. Bill should be ashamed of himself for allowing this to happen. Old school or new school.... shouldn't be allowed.
so they should train our military like little girls? not screaming at them or abusing them to toughen them up

Wow the weather these fishermen go through is unbelievable i don't how well I'd do doing that job but i thank those guys who risk there lives to bring sea food to the market for people to eat and enjoy stay safe out there guys
The first couple seasons I seen nick I hated him. But then the next season started and he was a completely different guy. Made me wonder if the show didn't put him up to it to make it more interesting or maybe it was just drugs idk. But his last several seasons nick grew to be my favorite crew member on the show. Everything he did was about building his crew up and being positive. The type of guy everyone wants to work with. My point is nick didn't die the man you see in this clip. In his journey through sobriety he became such a great guy and tried to help other people get sober to. It sucks that in the end his demons won and took a great guy from this world
Generally, when a person decides they are going to be a complete asspipe, they themselves are not happy confidant and decent. If the greenhorn was lazy give him some sh$t, but if he/she just doesn’t know what to do........ “teach them”. It doesn’t take a tough guy to teach a newbie, would’ve liked to have seen the bully trio and knock his own teeth out.
You can normally tell day 1 if the guy will work out. On the railroad they'd hand you a heavy piece of equipment and say carry this all day. Another is having you smash anchors on all day with a sledgehammer. You would be surprised how many grown men have the strength of a child. That's work I'd have to do on top of my own. I'm an understanding guy. But, I'm not waiting weeks for you to build muscle.

Yeah a lot of people use while doing jobs like this but it’s not everyone. 24 hours isn’t that hard to hit if you’re moving. If you talk to anyone who snow plows we pull 18-25 hours shifts regularly in winters. No meth just good old redbull and the cold.

That guy was Nick the junkie. He tried to sober up, but died of a drug overdose anyway.
I would dare to wonder how good Nick was on his very first day crabbing and did guys belittle and throw shit at him? My guess is someone ran him down like that so now he gives it back to every one else he can.

First day on the job? Yeah not the right way to break in the new guy, that could end up really bad
For real. With a job like this you've at least gotta make the new guy feel like he's included and part of the crew. You can't completely beat them down, you've gotta help build them up at least.

I remember getting out of the Marine Corps not knowing what the hell I wanted to do with my career and got a job as a machinist apprentice. All those old school manual machinists are stuck in their ways of belittling people, bullying and generally treating a new apprentice like shit. No one would let me borrow their tools even though they loaned each other tools every day. Those guys would seriously sabotage some of the projects I was working on just to get a laugh. I dealt with that stuff for about 2 months then bouncing on jobs in construction and other manual labor jobs. More of the same shitty work environment. By some miracle I was offered a job in finance at a mortgage company.
Not only was I mentored by true professionals at the mortgage company but they encouraged me to go with them to seminars(they paid!), get certificates, and even helped me decide on getting a degree. Few years later I ended up double majoring in finance and accounting.
Say what you want about white collar jobs and "paper pushers" but I truly developed some of the most healthy work relationships I could ever imagine. While it is a very competitive industry, the toxic masculinity I experienced working other blue collar jobs is absent in my current field.
Who would have thought some kid that came out of the Marine Corps as a grunt would end up giving PowerPoint presentations on land development projects. What a fuckin ride it's been
It’s guys like that, the cool guy who’s worked in his trade for a few years, then feel it’s necessary to make new guys feel like shit. It’s why construction is full of junkies, and a guy, whose dad probably owns the company. Making someone feel less than, is not going to assist them, or help your effort at all.
Like straight up say get off my ass bro. If he still going tell'em again. Consistently calling the bs will do one of two things.1. Shut them tf up. 2.Or make them square because you're giving the same deadpan awnsers. Manipulation is a hell of a thing guys, use it.
