There's a couple of minor corrections to make - there's a PDA in the game that talks about Alterra's foundation, which was actually as a weapons manufacturer in the middle of the 22nd century, selling weapons to all sides in the Expansion. They were so huge that they ended up becoming a government on their own, and ultimately ended the Expansion by threatening to stop providing weapons to anyone. So while they're actively against weapons now, they have an extremely violent history. Not sure Torgal Corp is that comparable to Alterra, too. They're a family company, but they belong to their own trans-gov, the Mongolian Independent States. Torgal Corp's stock rose with the announcement that they were going to plan a new phasegate; the Mongolian States are the one described as one of the fastest-expanding trans-govs. In one of the PDAs, Jochi Khasar talks about how in MIS, you can work for yourself; in Alterra, you work just for... Alterra. Alterra is sort of like if Amazon declared itself its own country - living and working there means that you're an Amazon employee as well as a citizen. Everything you do goes towards the good of Amazon. Torgal Corp is more like working for Wal-mart - it's a rich, influential family company, but it's still just a company within a larger country, the USA. Otherwise, fantastic video! Absolutely agreed that Alterra is super sketchy, too. They seem to be a capitalist hellscape to the point that even relationships are seen as business transactions and charity is an 'archaic concept'. Also, just the fact that they claimed everything on 4546B and refused to let Ryley land until he paid back the resources he used to SURVIVE is really not good. My personal theory is that they ultimately let him land, only to go, "So that claim on stuff from the planet? Yeah that includes the enzyme 42 in your blood, we now own you." He's the only known human survivor of Kharaa, so it wouldn't surprise me if he's being used as a lab rat somewhere :-\ ...whew this comment is long.
Wow, thank you very much for the good points and corrections :) ....I would definitely hope that they sort of let Riley go considering he essentially opened the planet up for business and potential profit from alien technology.
@@TheLastBacon Just think about all the deep lore hiding within that machine... The coffee machine is actually precursor technology stolen by Alterra. You forgot 2 really important pieces of evidence about altera 1: The boss in below zero sounds like he wants pictures of Spiderman 2: the Cyclops emergency alarm is dubstep
"The expansion"probably was the space race that ocurred when the phasegate was invented,as lots of mega-corporations and powerful governments raced for the other solar systems, which ended in a conflict between two corporations/governments,which escalated into a interstellar war.
I always got the feel throughout the game that alterra was some sort of souless corporation with corrupt policies, so the massive bill at the end didn't surprise me too much.
Well it isn't that hard as long as you stay away from everything with the slightest danger. I've just made the last depth module for the PRAWN or as I like to call it: the HEV mk.VI so I just have to go all the way down again
The thing I've always found odd about Ryley's crippling debt at the end is that he left everything on the planet besides the Neptune, so why would his debt be so huge? I get that the rocket itself probably takes up a substantial amount of the debt, but definitely not all of it. Plus, there's no way Alterra doesn't have some sort of de-fabricator that they can use to restore everything to raw materials. Of course, it doesn't seem like Alterra cares about its employees too much, so there's that.
@@TheLastBacon Because the Aurora is basically an interstellar colony ship that’s probably a standardized ship class for the corporation, i think the automated system might be designed for colonization procedures borrowing Alterra assets and then turning a massive profit, repaying the debt with return shipments from the new colony. In Subnautica, the phasegate colony plan was a catastrophic failure, and so the automatic energy credit debt system probably hasn’t been adjusted for the failure yet.

If this succeeds, he can tell the Alterra Board of Directors about Planet 4546B and the alien ruins there which can potentially lift him out of the debt.
Alterra Chief: So lemme get this straight, You survived a the crash of the Aurora that was shot down by an alien gun and was also responsible for shooting down the Degasi? They say all weapons have been removed from the fabricator. Why would Alterra, an ex-arms manufacturer send an unarmed Ship to the very planet that the Degassi was lost at?
Even if Alterra owns a lot of stuff doesn't mean that they have rights to manipulate lives. Riley crashed on a planet and he had is crashed Aurora, 2*2 km 'island' and some alien stuff. From Aurora all he got is blueprints how to get out of there and some snacks. Yes, he had unlimited energy from aliens, but what? He created a new government, new federation? Riley survived with all he had and finally got home, to be accused for 1 trillion? from some stones he found?! he beirrly* used any materials, there is a ton of everything still on the planet! He could just stay on the planet and not be killed or tested. I would fight for him.

Well I wanted to focus on Subnautica's lore :) I do know that there are many parallels between this and Natural Selection - maybe I'll look into it at some point.
i would definitely play a space game in the subnautica universe and definitely if it's having indirect multiplayer where you can help corporations out by doing things like destroying ships and that could cause an corporation to have les value or also said money so things at those stations would cost more money like ships and all it would also be cool if you could actually transport someone to an planet controlled by an company and well not make the company go back against or have rescue missions wich also have risks like death like what hapened to sunbeam or something
I'd love to take some of the mechanics from Subnautica into a space game :) Sounds so cool to me!
I HOPE THE FUTURE IS MUCH MORE BRIGHTER THAN IT SAYS IN THE GAME. COMMENT 01
I certainly hope so too :)
They say all weapons have been removed from the fabricator. Why would Alterra, an ex-arms manufacturer send an unarmed Ship to the very planet that the Degassi was lost at?
Probably just because arming them would violate the agreement all other trans-governments signed :)
Another dystopian future ruled by corporations
True :) future's looking bleak!
Alterra Is a cool reference from the devs. You know why.
It sure is :)
Phasegates lore?
Ouf, that would be a tough one - not sure there is enough info out there for a full video :)
@@TheLastBacon i found this if you want steamcommunity.com/app/264710/discussions/6/1291817208501733953/
What are phase gates? I know they are some form of faster than light travel but what is the lore behind them?
I'm afraid the game doesn't tell us a lot about them :)
Do a lore video on the pda voice is it trapped inside :O
Haha I don’t think it’s actually “trapped” :)
I totally agree :) Ryley should definitely not be fined!
Can we get The Last Bacon lore please!
Ouf, that would be a 2 hour documentary :D
Is this the sequel your playing? I'm still new to the first game but apparently the second game isn't out yet.
This is just lore of the first game :)
@@TheLastBacon thanks bacon:)
Exuse me,sorry to bother you, but would you possibly consider making a Cyclops,Seamoth and prawn suit video.
Definitely not bothering me :) that is an interesting suggestion - but I don't know what more I could say about them in terms of lore.
The Last Bacon Okay, thank you for the response about the topic of analyzation on the vehicle assets. Best wishes,
Very Nice Video 📸 ❤ Thank you for sharing 🙏💫🤞
Glad you liked it :)
Does anybody come back to this video cause i found it interesting I remember the first time I watched it I was waiting for the reaper the spawn near the aurora
Yay thank you :)
Kelp forest lore? Also you use commands you can make hardcore alot harder example:spawn reaperleviathan (no spaces) between reaper and leviathan just in case you dont know
I will probably eventually end up looking at different biomes in these lore videos :)
Can you do a lore on the precursors gun
Well I do have a video on the precursors :) not sure if there is a lot more to be said about the gun...
The seamoth can go in space, if only there was a docking place on neptune
Ikr! :)
Just waiting for Below Zero to release for lore videos on Allen penguins
Alien penguins not Allen!
Maybe he was referring to Al-An ;)
@@plasmaxl8626 I did not know Al-An was a penguin
That's definitely gonna be an interesting video :) can't wait either!
When are you going to stream live again??
8PM CET :) time for some more Below Zero!
