kitna and palmer were both decent warrick hurt his knee and wasnt a #1 reciever even in college he played in the slot combined with the fact its harder to do what he did in the nfl than college based on the average athlete on the other team. Chad Johnson and tj hous... were able to become good nfl wide recievers with the bengals qb's
he could have been a very productive slot receiver if he was still healthy when the bengals got good but i thinks its just as much that he was a slot receiver expected to produce as a #1 without other good wr's around him(fsu had better wr's than the bengals).

I remember ESPN showing the surveillance video footage of Warrick and his teammate Laveranues Coles at the register buying the clothes for $21. Coles was dismissed from the team because that wasn't his first time getting in trouble while Warrick was suspended for three games. Coles went on to have a successful 10 plus year NFL career with the Jets, Redskins and Bengals.

I think he was a wide receiver that was ahead of his time or played in the wrong era. Smaller wide receivers had a harder time succeeding back then with the style of offenses NFL teams had and the defense rules pre-2004

I took my daughter to a Bengals training camp practice. The players filed out and some made their way to where the fans were at, behind an orange and black rope. Peter Warrick, came out with a huge smile, laughing and joking, talking to the fans. He made his way to my daughter and shook her hand, he asked her name and asked don’t you have anything for me to sign? She said she didn’t bring anything. Told her to come back and he would personally find her and sign whatever she brought. Before he left, he told her listen, do well in school, respect your teachers, and listen to your parents and you’ll do well in life. Just an amazing young man. I have nothing but respect for him.

Led the team to a 35-0 state title his senior year. He could’ve gone to any division 1 school in the country and been an amazing point guard. I was very surprised how his NFL career turned out. I thought he would be one of the elite NFL players with a long career. Still one of the best athletes I’ve ever seen

I watched all those seasons you highlighted, and yeah, his average yards per catch were pretty pedestrian. But here’s some context your video might be missing, though you probably already know this. I’ll get right to the point. Ward caught so many screen passes that either went for one yard or lost yards because he was trying to be elusive. The Bengals’ offensive line and quarterback weren’t giving him any help, but that happens sometimes. Great players rise above, but because of his stature-coming in at like 5’10”, just under six feet-he was in an offense that didn’t maximize his potential. In a system similar to the Pittsburgh Steelers’, he could’ve been Antonio Brown. That’s what he should’ve been. But because the schemes were so different in the late 90s and early 2000s, the best innovation they really had were slants and screen passes. And being on the Bengals at that time, those plays often went for lost yardage. So, there you have it.

Tennessee had a good defense. It was more about Mark Richt never tried to scheme to get him the ball more which still baffles FSU fans to this day. That along with the fact we were playing a third string QB that couldn’t pass the ball didn’t help.
