I live right by Glacier National Park...30 years hiking in the park and have done the floral traverse twice, the normal route is from Logan pass to Lake McDonald lodge. They added on miles by going to through Gunsight area, to hike in the dark at hidden lake is a dare above all dares as it is a dinner plate for Grizzly bears...that area is the highest concentration of Grizzlys in the lower 48s and loaded with huckleberries....you passed by more bears than you know. You guys are fun to watch love the intensity
Crushed it! If you all ever come out east head up to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. There is a 52 mile 15k vert hike called the White Mountain Hut Traverse. Its a rite of passage for the workers in the huts and the challenge is to complete it in one day.
i was planning on doing it this summer but ran out of weekends finishing my 48 list. next year im planning the hut traverse, a double presi and extended pemi. also the hut traverse is closer to 17k vert
No offense, but these guys live 30 min from the WURL which is like an upgraded version of the traverse you mentioned. And we just watched a video of them in Glacier, I don't think the White Mountain Traverse is high on their list.
Watching Aaron munching on a granola bar unfazed while Danny was vomiting his guts out was pure UA-cam gold. (Make sure y'all read the description, very heartfelt) Another wild adventure from the "Cyborg Boys"
This is my favorite channel on UA-cam. The camera work, the quality, the personalities, and the adventures, all impecable. You do incredible work! Keep enjoying the outdoors.
My favorite part of this video is everyone trolling Danny as he barfs up a lung. That is how you know you have great friends. Awesome video once again!
yes. Aug. 2 is peak floral time. I did part of this hike(Logan pass to Sperry to Lake McDonald) in 1987. Unforgettable. I've hike numerous times since to the ridge at the far end of Hidden lake to view Avalanche Lake where my parents ashes are. And I've have wandered down into floral park on a couple other occasions. Hidden lake itself, has been a destination of mine at least 50 times. It is my fortress of solitude. Good video. Nice to see those places from far back in my memory
I spent a few days in Glacier back in August 1990. We rode on a motorcycle around the back roads to Polebridge, saw the burned trees from a fire in 1989 but also saw so many deer and much regrowth as well. I was 40 at the time and in much better shape than now, but was plagued by chronic migraine headaches. Motorcycle riding was very cathartic to a certain extent although I was down for 4 days of the 14 days of our trip. At the age of 69, it has been easy to look back and wish I had taken up running as well as all of the walking I thoroughly enjoyed. I have often wished I had taken better care of myself instead of taking care of everyone else. Thank you for this beautiful film which is so reminiscent of my 1st and only trip to a place East of the Rockies, a place I'd never seen before and will always remember with great fondness. I took 10 rolls of film and filled 3 photo albums with maps, pictures and souvenirs that I still have.
Amazing content as always. I've never tried running before I stumbled upon this channel. I always thought it looked miserable(Danny puking probably doesn't help that). Because your videos do such a good job capturing the adventure, I decided to give it a go this summer. Ive done a few peak bagging days in the Colorado high country, and just competed a half marathon in Rocky Mountain National Park with a little bit of scrambling and route finding. no puking though. Thank you for the inspiration!
Wow guys, what an amazing video! You should spend two weeks camping in Glacier next year and really go deep on the park, there are so many insane hikes and summits. To echo what everyone else here is saying: 1. This is my favourite channel on youtube; 2. Every time I get a notification that a MA video has dropped, I get as stoked as one can be; 3. It is one thing for you guys to have the athletic ability to be able to manage to complete all of these adventures, but it is another to be able to film it and produce such incredible videos every damn time! To add some further things: 1. Congratulations on making 2020 your biggest year ever (I think?), even despite the universal challenge we're all facing right now, the quality and content has been superb. 2. Please, please keep it going, it's a pain having to wait two weeks between videos (though I think that may be beyond your control this year)! 3. I've watched every video start to finish you've made in the past two years as I know how much watch duration matters on youtube! 4. I cannot wait to see some autumn and winter content (I see you're in Aspen now, hope you're filming!) 5. I am genuinely concerned for your vomiting Danny, the R2R can possibly be put down to sunstroke, but what was the reason this time? Hope you're okay, you crazy man, lol. Love from Ireland xx
There have to be legends in their own minds somewhere out there who are great hikers and wilderness navigators when it comes to the circle of friends they hang out with.... but all of that changes when they stack up against the North American Wilderbeasts (commonly known as Mediocre Amateurs). These guys are a little light on compassion but unmatched in comradery. Keep safe!!!
And my thoughts during the second half of the video "oh **** there is about a million ways this could go REALLY sideways", you absolutely crushed that, that takes some serious commitment.
@@henrydyke552 If you google Skyline Experience, there's a good route that takes you from Mt. Siyeh to Wynn Mountain on the eastside that hits a couple peaks that is about 20 miles with some up and down. Blake Passmore has some guides that I'd recommend for people new to the park with some comparable hikes. There's also solid SummitPost beta for good GNP hikes available online.
Danny, you should be taking in waaaaay more electrolytes (sodium). Like seriously, 2-3 NUUN tabs per flask. The white stains on your shorts and sunken eye sockets are giveaways. I'd guess you're losing 1500mg of sodium an hour.
I was getting a bit worried when I saw the puking, that is a quick way to get dangerously dehydrated. There was a SAR rescue in the last few weeks in Colorado where a backpacker ran out of food on day 2 but kept pushing for their summit, what was supposed to be 2 days turned into 4 as they could barely make any distance backpacking back out. They ran into other hikers on day 4 who called SAR and this backpacker was already into the first stages of liver failure had to be choppered out.
*Great advice!* I noticed that too and it reminded me when we work outside during the summer , our work pants (we swest profusely) will do this. *It's a sign you better get some serious sodium/electrolytes/minerals in you asap, cause plain water or sugar sports drink ain't gonna cut it. "Trace Minerals" brand has saved us on many days and the brand you mention also gets it done. *Take Care and Safe Travels Everyon!*
Great hike! Did the McDonald lake -Sperry chalet - gunsight pass- piegan pass with side trip to Sperry glacier. In two days, you beasts ! Didn't know about the floral route to hidden lake! Maybe my boys would like to try 'er !! Thanks again for sharing an amazing adventure!!
Also, that was pretty good foreshadowing when you guys were crossing that one bridge and Danny's all "The most dangerous thing we'll do today". Then you have to navigate bear country in the dark. Damn!
You guys are INSANE! But I love your videos! The darker it got during your run and the more Danny vomited, the more anxious I got for you all. And then to come up on the bear. That was crazy but fun to watch.
You guys are awesome! Great video, super inspiring and glad you all made it out OK. I could certainly feel your stress coming through the camera! What a wild adventure
Awesome video as always guys! Frankly, with 80F+ temps, I'm amazed Danny didn't start suffering earlier, but glad for his sake he didn't. @Danny, please tell us you go out with some form of satellite PLB (position location beacon) just in case this heat sickness ever gets too extreme, particularly when you're on a solo mission. I reckon the guys could get you out as fast or faster, as it would take 'search & rescue' when you're all together.
man you dudes are really cool! always in for an adventure. I look forwards to watching all your content. You guys got me into hiking so much more then I already was. Really cool video. Keep up the good work. Glad you spotted the bear!!
You guys are animals! Thanks for the memories as I did part of that trail many years ago.. we hiked around gunsight pass for a couple miles then walked back to the car.. so 22 miles.. but ya the rangers suggested we literally tie bells on our shoes walking that trail cause of all the grizz.. great video thanks!
Did this loop yesterday. Parked a bike at Logan pass so I could ride it down to Jackson Overlook, making the entire loop human powered. Thanks for the idea.
Welcome back to Montana, thank you for your fantastic content. You should check out some fun outside of the Park. I'm sure you get too many suggestions, but take a look at climbing Mt. Grant from the East, traversing to the summit of Stanton/Great Northern, then descending to the West via the normal climber's route. Beautiful photo opportunities with two different glaciers. You could also check out a winter tour to summit Grant and Liebig from the East.
That brush isn't bad at all! You dudes need to come back up to Alaska, there's some trails here that have BRUSH. ;-) Another great video, as always! Love seeing these other adventures outside of my state.
As soon as Matt said 85* I thought that you'd have that kind of reaction at some point. I hate being right. And yes, I realize the guys aren't going to coddle you but having them there grinding with you is part of the adventure. Still looked like one hell of a run and so many beautiful photos. Maybe a few electrolyte packets in the running vest to pour into the bottle at mile 10 or something? Those pukes looked like they hurt.
You guys might like the south rim trail in Big Bend, although that’s probably tame in comparison to these adventures. Camp on the south rim and catch the sunrise. It’s one of my favorite sunrises ever.
That music in the beginning makes me excited for what I'm about to see. Beautiful views no disappointments I knew there was 4 guys haha one being official camera guy thumbs-up to him!
This was my first time watching your channel and the first video I found when I started researching this traverse and I feel like you've given me way too much confidence haha. You guys make it look like a walk in the park but I'm sure this will kick my a** half way through lol
I love this! I did part of this pass a couple of years ago. It's a shame you guys didn't check out Florence Falls as that is my favorite waterfall in the whole world!
Great video, you guys need to check out some loops/peaks in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, N.E. Oregon. Or something way up in WA. Also maybe in extra mediocre you can cover your film gear.
Wow you guys are fast! Can you try doing on of the routes of Mt. Shasta sometime next spring/early summer ish? It's a fantastic climb and has some amazing views up top!
Floral park is very popular with the locals. You should have added on Gunsight Mountain too, the views are worth the extra effort. There’s so many rad peaks in the park, Hope you guys hit some while you were around.
Can't decide if I'm happy or sad. Happy you guys did this and enjoyed it ... sad because Glacier used to be the best kept secret. Cats out of the bag I guess.
So happy to see an upload from you guys. You inspire me to get outside so much. This weekend we're going to Nevada to check off another state high point, Boundary Peak.
This is my favorite channel. I think I can predict when Danny is going to heave. Except for the WURL Hurl the common denominator was heat plus vert while running.
Just re-watched this one.. nice! Ill do the loop in the opposite direction. Take the shuttle up in the AM and run back to the car. Less elevation gain and get the off trail sections done first. But looks like wet feet early on.
Wowza, I did gunsight and floral park each separately. Never thought about doing them together. Also had to hunker down in the shack at gunsight pass and wait out a storm.
Another epic video! I would have taken 3 days to do this haha also I have hiked down in the dark in Glacier NP before. It’s scary AF. Never again. it’s better to hike in daylight in bear country.
Those early bits going up to Gunsight reminded me of a failed attempt on Mount Jackson in 2013. I got lost, ran out of water, and was very happy to find that trail headed back to GTTS. Still a great experience because, you know, it's Glacier. Do you guys have a gpx track posted anywhere? Definitely want to put this on my list whenever we return to MT.
Another great video. Danny, thank you for suffering for our entertainment :). Looks like you guys just couldn't get enough of running through bear infested country in the dark. Keep it up guys! Thanks for the film!
First time I met Grizz was coming off Mt. Wilbur. My GF and I had summited and was coming down the open slopes and dang that bear was not happy that we were in his huckleberry patch.
A new Mediocre Amateur video is the best sight on my feed
Holy... Danny absolutely tanked it through this one. This was probably the best-shot video I've seen from these guys.

have you ever barfed on such a pretty back drop?
This is my favorite channel on UA-cam. The camera work, the quality, the personalities, and the adventures, all impecable. You do incredible work! Keep enjoying the outdoors.
I love all of the Mediocre Amateur’s content but these last few uploads have been absolutely incredible.
My favorite part of this video is everyone trolling Danny as he barfs up a lung. That is how you know you have great friends. Awesome video once again!
"This is how he purges weakness". Crush those goals-
yes. Aug. 2 is peak floral time.

Munching on that nut bar in front of Danny was such a power play.
You guys are freakin' machines. Period.
I love all Aaron appearances. Thanks for sharing! Beautiful vid and route.

The running may be amateur but the sunglasses game is professional
Danny's highs and lows are insane haha
Always a good video when Danny gets a case of the old barfies
Stunning scenery! I wish you Americans got more days of from work so you don't have to run all the time 😅
Amazing content as always. I've never tried running before I stumbled upon this channel. I always thought it looked miserable(Danny puking probably doesn't help that). Salt tabs always helps me on hot runs. Looks amazing!
Kristoff sitting on a beach somewhere sipping margaritas?
Cancun with the Wifey for anniversary😂 No lie.
I can watch these for hours so good
This channel has gone from Mediocre Amateur to "tour of glacier NP" and I'm not mad about it.
Wow, that's some stunning mountain scenery to travel through!
There have to be legends in their own minds somewhere out there who are great hikers and wilderness navigators when it comes to the circle of friends they hang out with.... but all of that changes when they stack up against the North American Wilderbeasts (commonly known as Mediocre Amateurs). Great time, wonderful friendship.
Danny makes my all-time favorite You-tube videos. This was an awesome trip!!!! I hate being old. You guys are fantastic.
At least the storm came out the mouth and not the other end... Great vid guys.
Every time I think I'm in good shape, I watch something like this and it brings me back down to reality. Good job guys.
A-Arron is a great addition to your team! Hope to see him in more videos. Another killer vid!
To my sister," Mediocre has a new video out! And Danny pukes again!"
And my thoughts during the second half of the video "oh **** there is about a million ways this could go REALLY sideways", you absolutely crushed that, that takes some serious commitment.
This was one of my favorites. You guys have the perfect mix of crazy adventure and beautiful landscapes. And you’re occasionally hilarious.
Another amazing video thanks for sharing your adventures.
You guys are total sickos ... what a gorgeous environment & incredible feat of endurance. Congrats!
You guys have a huge set! Congrats on this. Really enjoyed the hiking/running videos. 👌🏻👌🏻
Did Floral Park back in 2013. Used to work and live in GNP and that span b/t Hidden Lake and Comeau Pass might be the most epic stretch of park.
Any other favorite long hikes like this one?

This has been very impressive and inspiring. Thank you for taking the time to film in the midst of struggle!
Those Pearson's Nut Rolls are delicious, aren't they? I think this trip had the best scenery of any place you have ever been.

The geology after Sperry Glacier with those really wavy strata layers are just 😍😍😍
Did this loop yesterday. Parked a bike at Logan pass so I could ride it down to Jackson Overlook, making the entire loop human powered. Thanks for the idea.
That was some of the prettiest footage I’ve seen you shoot 👏 👏
"Danny Spews" should be the title of this episode. Loved it. Great work guys.

Love it when you guys post hikes from Glacier!! Its pretty amazing there! I have been on that hike several times
I love the classical music, fits the action well! You guys killed it!
Great footage from one Adventurehead to another. Happy Adventuring.
That was riveting! You guys are amazing 🏔️⚡
What a great group of guys and what an amazing channel!
Hey this is epic! I would definitively have to break it up over 2-3 days but Holy Cow- those views and that terrain is Amazing!
Can't get enough of this channel.
This was my first time watching your channel and the first video I found when I started researching this traverse and I feel like you've given me way too much confidence haha.
You guys make it look like a walk in the park but I'm sure this will kick my a** half way through lol
Well done guys 😅 the burger finally came out 😂
Backpacked Gunsight about two weeks after this thanks to Danny's recommendation. Very cool to see some familiar spots for once in one of these videos.
I love this! I did part of this pass a couple of years ago. It's a shame you guys didn't check out Florence Falls as that is my favorite waterfall in the whole world!

“Skeletor” 😂🤣😂🤣😂 now that is hilarious! Sorry Danny boy but that is funny 😆
So happy to see an upload from you guys. You inspire me to get outside so much. This weekend we're going to Nevada to check off another state high point, Boundary Peak.
Just think that the Blackfeet would roam these all day and night just vibin
This is my favorite channel. I think I can predict when Danny is going to heave. Except for the WURL Hurl the common denominator was heat plus vert while running.
Just re-watched this one.. nice! Ill do the loop in the opposite direction. Take the shuttle up in the AM and run back to the car. Less elevation gain and get the off trail sections done first. But looks like wet feet early on.
Man these dudes are just too badass. Well done boys!
At last a new passage on the jog, I liked the stairs to Goat Pass, sublime country. Bloody long day, I couldn't bear it!.......
Wowza, I did gunsight and floral park each separately. Never thought about doing them together. Also had to hunker down in the shack at gunsight pass and wait out a storm.
1:37 A++ captain jack sparrow running form lmao
You guys should try mid-pal. trail running, little bit of glacier, 1500 ft of class 3, and 7,000 ft of vert to 14,000 ft in the heart of the sierras.
Another epic video! I would have taken 3 days to do this haha also I have hiked down in the dark in Glacier NP before. It’s scary AF. Never again. it’s better to hike in daylight in bear country.
Danny, what program do you use to show the trace of the topo map at the beginning of this video?
great video i have done both Gunsight and Floral Park Traverse, but would NEVER be able to do both in the SAME day. quite a feat of endurance...
Vomit aside..views all worth it. You guys are so inspiring.
Definitely want to put this on my list whenever we return to MT.
where has this channel been all my life?! just subbed this content is crazy!
If you guys haven’t yet, you should hit the Ptarmigan traverse over in Washington...
Amazing video...that Snowbird hat!
Another great video. Danny, thank you for suffering for our entertainment :). Looks like you guys just couldn't get enough of running through bear infested country in the dark. Keep it up guys! Thanks for the film!
will we ever see the blizz again???
First time I met Grizz was coming off Mt. Wilbur. My GF and I had summited and was coming down the open slopes and dang that bear was not happy that we were in his huckleberry patch.
I just did this today but the opposite direction… I have no idea how you did the hidden lake portion at night. Did you guys lose the route much?
Wow, such beauty. Long day though!
13:20 that shot is freeking amazing
Looks really awesome!
