@@jjns3991624 I wondered where all the vans went once Escalante gets too hot. I assumed it was Bend. Also I believe you but that surprises me because the majority of van people I see are wealthy-ish 60 year olds pretending to be vagabonds and free spirits but they're actually just wealthy enough to own a house and a 120 thousand dollar van.

It’s a mystery what this guy does for work. We know Cristof is a commercial pilot, Blake a contractor, and Matt is a weirdly rich BYU geology professor, haha.
Still not sure how they can financially and time-wise do all these adventures. Most people I know who can financially do these adventures, don’t have time due to work and family. Most people who can do these adventures time-wise, don’t have a family. It’s honestly impressive that Danny and his crew can do these not-in-their backyard adventures for so many years.

It's worth noting that their adventures are short because they're running. Often they drive through the night, and stay only a full day. So a week end or three day week end is all they have to play with. And since they only do this once a month on average, it's not that expensive nor that difficult to plan. It's not like the "My Own Frontier" channel where all Joey does is backpack.

Trail runners are amazing. I have a friend who does this in France, he'll sometimes run 65 miles with just short breaks, and no sleep, if he feels good. The more you do this type of stuff the more your body can handle it. I have trouble with doing anything above 1200 m of vertical gain, on foot, hiking. I couldn't trail run like these guys. But it's not that rare, many many people do it. It's still damn impressive though...

Spiders? In Yunnan province, China there are these spiders (same size as yours but rectangular bodies) that live together like ants, sometimes in webs that are 10 feet across. I photographed one with at least a thousand spiders that was 30 feet across. But in the morning when I'm the first guy up the trails in the area? It's the same as what we run into here in the States - single trip lines across the trail - and my face. At my house sometimes I run into really strong ones made by black widows that creep me out, even though I know no spider sits in the middle of their trip line. Terrific climb - thanks for the video.

I love these cool little parts of America... The national parks are beautiful, but for solo hiking or like you, trail running, the wilderness areas are often so much better... In Colorado, there's the San Juan, the Indian Peaks wilderness... it's really worth it looking for those spots. France is the same, we have beautiful national parks, but I often prefer hiking in regional parks like the Queyras mountains or places that aren't even parks like the Vallée de la Clarée near Briançon.

You wanna see more vans? Go to Hildale/Colorado City. As a bonus they will follow you around town till you leave!
