There were two kinds of people watching this, the ones who have played Alan Wake 2 and are geeking out at what is quite possibly the best thing that could have happened at the game awards, and the people who haven't played it and are just visibly confused by everything.
A lot of the people in front of me were people from the gaming industry. So they really didn’t cheer or clap or anything the whole night. The people behind in the cheaper seats were going crazy all night long.
2:09 I love how some of the audiences cheers during the award goes to Alan Wake part just like the music video, these people definitely know what they're seeing
Thank you so much for the upload. So many little things that weren't included in the broadcast that made the performance even more amazing for a massive fan of the game. Sam Lake sneaking into position, the firework show at the final chorus, Matthew Porretta joining in on the dance with everyone else from the sidelines. Perfection.
you could see matthew dancing in the broadcast, they showed the full stage several times and he was there dancing. I imagine the left out the sneak into poistion too in order to have a surprise for viewers. Kinda ruins the surprise of him being part of it if they show him walking onto stage.
You can also see Sam Lake walking into position in the tga edit, but due to light effects and camera angle you have to know where to look. You can see a figure entering the stage from left, just as the lead singer finishes the "gift or a curse, a reality made of dreams" line. But this version makes it all clearer, including Sam's foot stomp signalling the final bow (or in Harewood's case, just a slight nod when already turning to walk away, lol). Like one best selling author put it, no more surprises...
The way Mr. Door bounces towards the middle of the scene at the end is extra. And Sam Lake arrival is so casual, like the few steps he discreetly makes to centre his position.
I saw that too. Sam ends up pretty far back but in the first big motions of the dance he repositions himself more forward and in the center. Whether this was intentional or not, it works. Even if he originally was at the wrong position. In performance, fixing your error without alerting the audience is key. From this angle, if it was a fix, you can see it. But from the audience's viewpoint its less noticeable. I think he did a fantastic job.
I still haven’t seen the one they broadcasted but everyone says the same thing, editing killed it. Glad I can provide the raw uncut version for you guys. Enjoy!
4:00 I always thought how everyone is bowing their heads in perfect sync. I just noticed that Sam probably gave everyone a signal by stomping his foot.
this is the best thing i've ever seen in my entire life thank you so much for this upload!!! i've seen the TGA version of this more times than i can count this past year, but this was just awesome. THANK YOUUU
I love seeing audience perspectives of performances. Things are made to look a certain way for the broadcast, and the broadcast looked amazing, but seeing all the little things that go into making the broadcast is also great and adds to the appreciation. Thanks for uploading this :)
Awesome video, thanks to the author. Sam Lake is a legend. The audience in the video was disappointing, just sat through the performance without any emotion
A lot of the people in front of me were people from the gaming industry. So they really didn’t cheer or clap or anything the whole night. The people behind in the cheaper seats were going crazy all night long. Let me put it like this, people in front of me started walking out as soon as the game of the year orchestra started playing. 🤦🏻♂️ people did show emotion, just not from my section
Thank you very much for this. Incredible recording. That performance deserved a standing ovation. I would have stood up and applauded my fucking heart out.
I noticed that Matthew was dancing when I was watching the broadcast, it's a pity that he didn't dance in the middle between Sam and David at the last minute :sob:
So awesome to see the actual stage! Thank you for wonderful video. I wish they would have put the lyrics to the backdrop so people could have sang along and clapped in the rhythm.
Thank you for sharing this! IMO,the sound mixing in the official version compressed some of the vocals from David Harewood and Matthew Poretta and from Olli's guitar. Everything is much clearer here! As many also said, you can also see more of the choreography and details too!
They sound compressed because David and Matthew are lip syncing, their audio is from the recording. The electric guitar player is also miming to a playback track. The lead singer's audio is live, and his bass playing is fake also as the singer IRL does not play any instruments
@@Luka1180I would like a source too. IMO, Matthew and David's enunciation is slightly different from the music video recording in at least the first half. The only section where, if any, a playback could've used for them was the dancing section in case they couldn't hit the notes properly while dancing. I still lean towards Olli's guitar playing being legit as his guitar and Maarko's singing sound like their live tour clips.
@@porcupinester the only live is Odin. It's nearly impossible and expensive to quickly tune and sync multiple sound sources for such short event during fast changing tv show
@@JorbyTinkyThere are videos where you can see Marko (the singer/"Odin") compose a song by playing an acoustic guitar. But AFAIK he can't play bass (Poets of the Fall, the real live band behind the Old Gods of Asgard has a bass player, a second guitarist, and a keyboard player (the guy who is the drummer here) when they play their live shows.
This capture was on point vs. original broadcast and all the people were just on point to deliver; thank you !!! (And I´m not a gamer any more but fan of Remedy and Sam Lake.)
Matthew Porretta could sing about the contents of his fridge and I would listen to, his voice is heavenly! Thank you for the great perspective, did you see Ilkka's amazing confused face from your seats too?
I still haven’t seen the one they broadcasted but everyone says the same thing, editing killed it. Glad I can provide the raw uncut version for you guys. Enjoy!
The way Sam casually walks into position is perfect.
And David Harewood with his duckwalk :D
@@mikeykine257 nice show anyway
Sam looks like a random person just wandering on stage and then just starts joining in with their dance routine. Lmao
reminds me of those "did you pay attention, did you notice the dancing bear walking into scene" videos lol
There were two kinds of people watching this, the ones who have played Alan Wake 2 and are geeking out at what is quite possibly the best thing that could have happened at the game awards, and the people who haven't played it and are just visibly confused by everything.
So sad, but true!
A lot of the people in front of me were people from the gaming industry. So they really didn’t cheer or clap or anything the whole night. The people behind in the cheaper seats were going crazy all night long.
and those that saw it and knew they had to start playing the game lol
Honestly I haven't played it but when I saw this performance I wanna play it now this song is amazing
and the third one, people who just love poets of the fall
2:59 I love how you can see illka villi hyping everyone up and getting everyone into positions for the final dance
David Harewood and Matthew Porretta rocking out! xD Great to hear them sing live.
I like the harmonic vocals Harewood and Porretta sang in the first chorus
They both sang to prerecord. Only Odin sang live, but this does not take away from the epic nature of the performance!
I cannot understand how people can say matthew porretta's parts were prerecorded. They sound nothing like the album version.
@@JR-hf4xy Yep, was thinking the same lol I just ignore those comments, I noticed right away that both David and Matt sound different.
@@JR-hf4xy Right? Matthew has broadway experience. No doubt he can pull it off
First time ever watching a game awards performance over and over again. I’m so happy for sam, he looks so happy. Highlight of the whole show for me.
Mick Gordon performing the Doom 2016 soundtrack was also awesome
Even if they didn’t win GOTY, this was Sam Lake's and Remedy's victory lap
BG3 is a good game too. They both deserve this award
2:09 I love how some of the audiences cheers during the award goes to Alan Wake part just like the music video, these people definitely know what they're seeing
this could be pre-recorded
That cheering part is apart of the original song so they didn’t lmao
@@moomooman_ the cheering sounded different and like it was coming from the crowd, not speakers. it was a mix of both

Love seeing Matthew dance at the end!
Yeah, I love that he got to appear live as the other half of Alan Wake! :D
@@MoshugaaniI was really happy about that, too. I'm glad they just didn't hide him away off stage as technically they could have.

Matthew danced too? I’m so glad, we didn’t see that in the official video there were so many cuts and missing pieces
you could see him.
Yes yes you can see a little of him dancing in the tga stream, but here it appreciates better
this video is so much better than official uploaded one, as we can see everyone. Door and dr. darling having blast aside the stage xD
I still haven’t seen the one they broadcasted but everyone says the same thing, editing killed it. Glad I can provide the raw uncut version for you guys. Enjoy!
Also porretta doing the dance moves even when we never seen he doing them before

We can actually see Porretta in the broadcast version.
I love how the audience went loud when Sam Lake appeared on stage
4:00 I always thought how everyone is bowing their heads in perfect sync. I just noticed that Sam probably gave everyone a signal by stomping his foot.
Really like how Ilka Villi appears exactly between David Harewood and Matthew Porretta for the first few seconds from your POV.
I like the way those two singers stand there vibing when not singing their parts
The fact that matthew porretta didn't need to do the dance moves at the end but you can see him doing them makes it even better
this is the best thing i've ever seen in my entire life thank you so much for this upload!!! i've seen the TGA version of this more times than i can count this past year, but this was just awesome. THANK YOUUU
For some reason I thought Mr. Door would just magically teleport onto stage rather than just standing there waiting for his moment
What I would have DONE to be there in person to watch this live! Thank you so much for making a recording and sharing it with us!
3:02 damn look at Door’s moves as he joins the group
I just realized that in the final chorus Matthew Porretta also does the choreography xD 😂
Seeing Sam Lake dance live has become a Core Memory
I love how the two guys on the right are enjoying themeselves when the camera isn't on them :D

I'm here for Sam Lake dancing
I have been waiting this for months and seeing Sam Lake take center stage is so fullfilling, he deserves all there is.
Our guys jamming in the corner are everything ❤ We need that patched into the game.

Awesome to see it from this point of view!

Didnt know Mathew also dance on this performance!
so sooooo great ... Alan Wake 2 ist one of the greatest Story Action Games of all Time.

Love how stoic the crowd is lol

Sam Lake. ♥
Wish I was there smashed people didn’t know what was happening u guys need to play Alan wake 1 and 2
I absolutely cannot believe how dead the crowd are. Are these people even alive?
It's like 90% corpos and games devs. They're all boring folk who would never go to a concert

Nossa que legal o dublador matew porreta dançou também . Muito bom o vídeo
Rainstorm that is incoming💀
bro idk anything about alan wake but it seems funny as hell
Why is the crowd so quiet?
Alan finally get out from dark place.
