I absolutely love the meta, self referential lyrics right before the final chorus.

Something that got me intrigued was the booklet with the album, Sam Lake put a little note in there suggesting this new song would have some clues as to the direction of the next game.

I'm pretty sure this was written after Tor and Odin entered the Dark Place, effectively becoming immortal.
(Final Draft Spoilers):
If you Saga talks to them in the Dark Place, they explicitly say "This isn't goodbye. We'll see you again, kiddo."

This is a shanty you would hear aboard a ship manned by the spirits of long-dead pirates as it sails off to battle.

I feel like the lyrics shed some serious light on Tor and Odin's relationship to the Lake / Dark Place, especially considering the addition of the Final Draft and what happens to them.
The Sea of Night running dark in our veins
This is definitely the song for them traversing the dark place after the end of the game. Hopefully we’ll hear it in the DLC.
It also mirrors the PotF track Beyond the Horizon
Old Gods is such a great creative outlet for Poets. Like it is so much fun to hear them make power metal song.
Music so powerful even the Dark Place can't stop it from reaching our shores 🤘

@@jeremybk54 Hard to imagine AW3 or Control 2 without the Old Gods. But AW2 seems to have written them off for good, and they were on their way out anyway, health-wise. They often referenced their failing health and minds in the game. I really don't know how another musical act could step in for them now. Fans would struggle to accept it. The real band has been an iconic part of Remedy games since Max Payne 2 and have a long-standing relationship with the studio. We'll have to wait and see!

*Jesse Faden's voice* That... was awesome. When the rytmical humming/drumming started I got instantly goosebumps, I knew it is going to be legendary. The sea shanty touch is also phenomenal and goes perfectly with the concept of the song. I only heard of the Old Gods from Controll but I'm a huge fan of the Poets. Keep this stuff going!
