Yup, when I started working out, the biggest gains factor that kept getting pushed to me on every video was SLEEP. I made sure to prioritize 8-8.5 hours of sleep per night, and the progress has been phenomenal.

For several of those years, leading up to the Covid shutdown, I was teaching 6-8 classes a week, every week. I don't mean coaching, I mean leading 60 minutes of intense cardio and/or strengthening exercise. I had already heard that women need more sleep than men, but wasn't sure if that was true. It def made sense. Anyway, my ex always made me feel like shit when I'd come home from teaching Saturday morning, after having taught all week long as well, and need a nap. It took a toll on my body. I sleep roughly 4 hours a night, every night, my entire life. Apparently it’s rare but it happens to some people. But any disruption in my sleep or any improvement is felt very acutely for me. Nothing consistently adds quality sleep to my night like a combo of exercise and good sleep hygiene (mainly lights/screen time and not eating late for me)
Exceptions to the rule are a thing, but in your case - if you read my comment - please do look into it. Research is pretty solid on sleep patterns of people and you need at the bare minimum 4 hours of solid uninterupted sleep (1 out of 2 cycles) a day, with at least 4 extra hours of sleep/nap-like rest. Life is kinda cruel, because all the sleep you lack, indirectly will be taken away from the end of your life. We should sleep 1/3rd of our life, and if you only sleep half-nights, you'll live 1/6th shorter. About 15 years reduced from your max age. So if you truly care about your health, make sure you get 6-8 hours of sleep again. Because according to research, the exceptions aren't the rule. The exceptions don't live as long.

I have tried everything - including sleep studies, mattress incline, etc. Obviously, it is not enough, but I wake up with my eyes wide open. I have to be awake for about two hours and then do another 2-3 hours of sleep. It's horrible.
It’s sometimes weird when I realise these things that people are talking so much about now, but I have been doing them for years just by listening to my body. Your body will tell you what it needs. With a little knowledge in biology, you will be able to figure it out for sure. But without knowledge you can as well.

My problem is I know perfectly well that physical exercice is good for sleep, and the scientific explanation is interesting in itself, but easier said than done: procrastination and opposition to constraint, so before, I need a psychotherapy and it takes years, so far it's still "nope" beyond about 1 week here and there.

The sleepy benefits aren't necessarily specific to working out right before bed - for those of us who don't always feel tired at bedtime, working out earlier during the day will still lead to a need for that extra anabolism at night!

I think my doctor recommended leaving at least 3 hours between working out and going to bed. Probably to leave some time for the adrenaline to be cleared out.
Isolation makes insomnia worse and lack of sunshine. Taking magnesium may help you. Also Melatonin though I can't take that. I have been up till 6 am many times when I am anxious or upset about something. Sometimes my brain wakes me up thinking about something. Sometimes watching a movie before I go to bed takes my mind off things so I can relax and go to sleep. Mindless chores like dusting helps me too or doing the dishes. I hope you will get your circadian rhythm back on track. Happy Lights that replace sunshine early in the day may help too.🌈💤
Look at your diet next, do you use a lot of caffeine? Cola, energy drinks, coffee? The later you drink those caffeine containing drinks the more they will hurt the quality of your sleep. Alcohol will also destroy quality of sleep. Might also be sleep apnea if you have trouble waking up in the morning. Irregular sleep schedule will also confuse your body and prevent you from getting the best quality sleep.

Ok, yeah, training will give you better sleep, BUT, it will not, and actually you will get the opposite effect, if you workout just before bedtime... be aware of that.

how do I fix my sleep....it was normal till about 7 months ago when something traumatic happened and from then on I am unable to sleep properly which has affected my energy levels and also my eating habits, I do not feel hungry at all and there was a sudden decrease in my appetite after the event
Please see a doctor. They would most likely refer to a sleep specialist and a psychiatrist. I recommend you see a therapist who specializes in trauma. Good luck to you mate
That sounds like grief since it's still relatively recent, and if it persists it might eventually be PTSD. But you can already ask a doctor for advice in regards to physical stuff and go to therapy for healing psychologically, which will help with physical stuff too. Do get someone who specialises in trauma, not all therapists know it properly.

not everything is "excuses". I have been trying to fix my sleep schedule for over 7 years without success. I have tried all the advice that exists, but I just can't force myself to go to bed at the same time every day, it is on the verge of impossible, I have no control over myself. I lasted a maximum of a few days and then a hard rollback followed that destroyed everything. I have already resigned myself to the fact that I will suffer all my life and I do not try to do anything after 7 years

I did a thesis for my university back then about this stuff, and from what I personally learnt, the vast majority of people can change their habit including sleep cycles. And for most of them that couldn't or should I say, wouldn't, they have certain habits or even outside factors that could be changed, but they just don't know what it is. If you have insomnia, then that is understandable. But even that, less than 10% of the population suffers insomnia disorder, let alone chronic cases. I personally do not know you, nor do I know your circumstances, but I'm only saying general things that most people should be able to resonate with if they try, at least, that's the intention of my comment. I'm not trying to downplay anyone's situation. But I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Maybe seek out professional medical help and get diagnosed to see if anything can be done. My fiance, has a chronic headache, so I completely understand that some people genuinely struggle with sleep, and my heart goes out to everyone in such a situation. But for the vast majority, they can change, only if they really want to. I'm 100% certain of it.

I shall do this every day walks, nature walks, a 3 pound weight bar in my backpack as I walk to the grocery store, someday climb a mountain, I know I have suffered from insomnia all my life with not enough REM sleep And it is vital. It is critical that we get enough sleep because that’s where our emotional regulation you can learn and Self talk these practices to get a better night sleep, and then thank yourself that you did these tools to help you fall asleep and make them a daily practice ...❤🎉 we do not need to get pharmaceutically dependent on melatonin a simple walk outside with a little sunshine in the face will help build melatonin naturally in your brain and that will help set your circadian rhythm so that you can have a better night sleep at the end of the day.❤ Hint : human thoughts and emotion.

Time of exercise shouldn't matter, but going to sleep regularly at the same time will adjust your body so that you will become sleepy at that time.

not everything is "excuses". I have been trying to fix my sleep schedule for over 7 years without success. I have tried all the advice that exists, but I just can't force myself to go to bed at the same time every day, it is on the verge of impossible, I have no control over myself. I lasted a maximum of a few days and then a hard rollback followed that destroyed everything. I have already resigned myself to the fact that I will suffer all my life and I do not try to do anything after 7 years

Not everything in life depends on a person. Much depends on chance and circumstances. People struggle with reality/cruel life for most of history. Not with their actions.
@@MADDCLOWN for a very small ammount of the population, that may be the case. I did a thesis for my university back then about this stuff, and from what I personally learnt, the vast majority of people can change their habit including sleep cycles. And for most of them that couldn't or should I say, wouldn't, they have certain habits or even outside factors that could be changed, but they just don't know what it is. If you have insomnia, then that is understandable. But even that, less than 10% of the population suffers insomnia disorder, let alone chronic cases. I personally do not know you, nor do I know your circumstances, but I'm only saying general things that most people should be able to resonate with if they try, at least, that's the intention of my comment. I'm not trying to downplay anyone's situation. But I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Maybe seek out professional medical help and get diagnosed to see if anything can be done. My fiance, has a chronic headache, so I completely understand that some people genuinely struggle with sleep, and my heart goes out to everyone in such a situation. But for the vast majority, they can change, only if they really want to. I'm 100% certain of it.

I shall do this every day walks, nature walks, a 3 pound weight bar in my backpack as I walk to the grocery store, someday climb a mountain, I know I have suffered from insomnia all my life with not enough REM sleep And it is vital. It is critical that we get enough sleep because that’s where our emotional regulation you can learn and Self talk these practices to get a better night sleep, and then thank yourself that you did these tools to help you fall asleep and make them a daily practice ...❤🎉 we do not need to get pharmaceutically dependent on melatonin a simple walk outside with a little sunshine in the face will help build melatonin naturally in your brain and that will help set your circadian rhythm so that you can have a better night sleep at the end of the day.❤

Wrong. I have so many sleep problems even though i workout 4 times per week and play a college sport. My muscles are craving sleep but i cant get it
