the most heartbreaking part when you think about this video is that Chester died literally six days after filming this... it's a proof that you can never know what's going on in somebody's mind even when they seem to enjoy themselves. i love to see him this way tho, his smile, laugh and goofing around is everything

After his Death, i saw his Wife tweeted something about his suicide. The thing that i never forget is when Talinda said He didn't do suicide, she have a proof. Later, Her Tweet were deleted. I'm still asking, what's happen...

Her account was hacked short after Chester's death, there were also tweets saying she's never loved him and was with him just because of money and that she cheated on him with Mike... i guess it was one of those stupid tweets

*As someone whose attempted suicide numerous times, I can tell you that* sometimes the laughs are genuine, but sometimes there’s just a change of wind that takes you to a place you don’t want to be; and suddenly you feel alone amongst the crowd and numb amongst the joyful.

There's a moment during that video when Chester casually lets slip the enormous respect he has for Mike. There's a point where Jeong sort of breaks character and starts laughing at himself and says "I like the fact that I'm totally feuding with the founder of the band..." and Chester finishes the sentence with "...The most talented songwriter of our generation"

Alex, it'd be wonderful if you checked out Mike Shinoda's solo album, Post Traumatic, starting with the song Over Again.

People like Chester are happy around people. It’s not an act. Everyone is pretty much the same, but when your alone, that’s when your at your worse. That’s when you start getting all those negative thoughts. Some people can’t handle the down time. I remember when my mother took her own life, when I was 15 yrs. old. I was fine, when I was with my friends, but when I wasn’t, I was a mess. And when I had to sleep at night, I was haunted by what happened. That is when I cried the most.

Filmed just a week before he died. The people behind the show delayed releasing it because they didn't want to show it unless Talinda (Chester's wife) and his family were okay with it.
Bits you didn't see was them on a karaoke bus and then them pulling over and doing a dance on the street outside someone's house.

The weirdest/saddest/hardest part about all of this, is that it was filmed so close to Chester's death. They were supposed to release this video like the week after he died, so they ended up delaying it to let things settle down a little bit before airing the episode.
I loved this video. I wish I could find the full version more easily. It's on LP's Facebook page if anyone wants to watch it but that's the only link I can find to watch the whole thing.
(Bit of a bonus, Alex your video is already in the Top 5 on UA-cam and Bing for "Carpool Karaoke Linkin Park" so that's kinda sweet!)

We don't show the sadness - you're right, Alex. In our minds, to show that weakness is to make the burden of supporting us heavier. That big smile and comical behavior is often a result of the mania into which we thrust our withering minds. We push all of that to the front because people aren't as quick to ask questions when they can't see the debilitating sadness swelling behind it. Depression is a monster and when it's allowed to grow behind that manic shield of smiles and laughs - it can get big enough to swallow just about anyone. Thank you for this channel.

April 14, 2019- the night my best friend took her life… the next day I found out and ever since I have fought through grief so consuming some days I feel like I am being swallowed by quicksand.
I wish I could have told her what I am going to tell you,…
I would have been there. I would WANT to be there. I would have sat by, silent, holding the pieces together to spare a moment to breath.
She still is so important to me, and while I know how it feels to be the person desperately not wanting to burden others, and having experienced how the brain can be so cruel, smothering itself in shame just for feeling like you may have slipped in locking those feelings away, but on the other side, when someone else is weighed down by the load they are carrying, stepping in and taking on a bit of the weight to give them a break has never felt like a burden.
She had struggled many times before that night, and never once did I feel burdened when I chose to step in, seeing she was worn down, and I would have been there a thousand more times without feeling burdened had she given me the chance.
I don’t know you, and I have no clue the pain you are in, but I promise you are not a burden and if no one else has told you, I am proud of you for fighting to stay.

@@Potato_Bug I've reached a point in my life where I can honestly say that I'm here to stay. Sometimes the hurt and sadness is heavy, but when I feel it starting to try to take over, I use it as license to get angry for a short time. While I've not dealt with depression my entire life, I was always a short-tempered kid and I had to learn early how to re-purpose that anger and change it into energy to get things done. So, here I am - solid, unyielding. I am a punch to the gut of depression. I'm not sure if I'll ever truly defeat it fully, but it will not win against me.

If it's any consolation, those moments are genuinely happy. I have some quite similar afflictions and experiences as Chester did, and I assure you that while depression and PTSD are of course always there, those moments when you're having fun and laughing are genuine. It's when all that falls away afterward and you're left with just you...that's when things get dicey. But it certainly doesn't negate the positive.

Bro pls react tk to Linkin Park's third album: Minutes to Midnight
And Chester's solo album Dead By Sunrise ( most underrated album) along with Mike's solo (Fort Minor: Rising Tied) very underrated too!

Alex please check out Mike's Post Traumatic LP. You have to start at the very beginning,
    Place to Start
    Over Again
    Watching as I fall
    And so on.
It's a true heartbreaking progression though Mike's grief. It is hard to take, not gonna lie. I still cry.
    RIP Chester. Miss you.

I actually saw this video a few times on youtube, but I didn’t watch it because it was too sad for me because of Chester. So thank you for this Alex with you it was actually a lot easier to watch it. ❤
But just like you said both sad and happy at the same time.

Chester was notoriously bad at driving, and see his hands fly off the steering wheel I just said "oh shit", and do every time i see it. When he is laughing and funny, i can watch and laugh, but when he starts singing, its still super hard to watch.
Mike talked about it in an interview once and basically said Chester would want everyone. to be happy and not feel bad if you watch something where Chester is being funny and youu laugh. As much as I understand how Chester felt, hearing Mike say he would want people to be happy and be remembered that way. Humans are pretty damn good at hiding that kind of pain, the last thing we want to do is let our internal mess, seem onto others. You do a wonderful job reacting and balancing the emotions that come up when watcgubg what an inredible human he is........thanks for all the fun videos of your linking park journey, as well as others (like skillet-a fav of mine).

I was just going to say, there's another clip where he says "I'm so happy right now" or something like that, I'm glad you saw that one too. I agree, he was a beautiful person. Like you, I don't know whether to laugh or cry...but I personally believe he was truly happy here in these moments. Ken Jeong is hilarious and you can tell what a cool person Mike is too. Thank you for this.

This made me smile and cry. Seeing Chester smiling and laughing is so beautiful but sad knowing he’s gone. Their songs and Chester got me thru a lot of dark suicidal thoughts and a suicide attempt yrs ago. I still get those thoughts a lot and had depression for many yrs so I know how to put on a mask to others but yes wen ur alone is the worst and hardest time. Still breaks my heart ur gone Chester. R.I.P beautiful Chester

People should always remember that what’s on the surface is not what’s in the core. I suffer with my mental health and although I am surrounded by people that care, when I’m down they’re as good as invisible. I always make people at work laugh because it makes me feel better seeing others happy even though I feel like a good 90% of the time I’m dying on the inside. It’s a cruel and horrible condition and I pass my thoughts on to all those that are suffering too. Just keep going, one step at a time and don’t EVER give up. 💙

I always feel conflicted when I watch this. I watch it and it is clear that Chester was having the best time out of the three band members. It's good to see Chester in such a good light. Then I think about all the inner turmoil that was going on inside him and it makes me sad. He left us days later. It's hard to see him looking so happy knowing how much he was hurting. I have lost multiple people to the S word. Watching this brings those emotions back every time I see it. RIP Chester. Your friends, family, and fans miss you. #fuckdepression

i don't wanna spam, i just want to say that i really appreciate that you take the time in your reactions to talk about the mental health issues. honestly i watch almost only LP reactions on your channel 'cause i know them well and i love to see others getting so excited and hooked by their music, but what's special about your reactions is that you pay attention to the lyrics and interpret them pretty well. i know the channel is about reacting to music, but i enjoy you just sitting and watching Linkin Park guys having fun, all six of them were always so goofy and that's one of the things i love the most about them. i'm still waiting for more marathons with their albums tho 😩
Mike has some solo hip hop stuff and an album called Post Traumatic, which is more pop-ish to me, you probably wouldn't like most of the songs from this one but i'm curious what you'd think especially about the lyrical side since it's literally his way out of grief after Chester's death and it's really honest. please check out at least Over again, it's a rap one
have a dope ass day Alex

It's really sad seeing this. It's wholesome, yes! Just seeing Chester, Mike, Joe, and Ken just having a good time. I have seen numerous videos of the whole band and just hos much they support one another, being goofy, and overall having the time of their lives. Chester Bennington especially. Every video I see him when not in stage he is literally the purest human being I have seen.
It's scary. Not knowing what goes on through a person's mind. On the outside they are all happy and smiles but on the inside there's negativity running through the back of their mind. Depression is hard to read. It's not like a disease where it can be spotted by going to a doctor visit. It's scary. To this day Chester Bennington's passing hit me hard and I don't know the guy but for some reason, it made me want to cry.
Seeing this video makes me happy but then I start thinking about what happened and I just tear up. Truly the greatest singer and I don't think anyone can replicate the kind of singing talent he pulled off.

I can tell you as a man with actual clinical depression, Chester was genuinely having a good time here. It was because he didn't have time to think while all this was going on. That's why the stage can be so attractive to people like us, because at lease for an hour, we have a moment to lose ourselves and not have to worry. We're just there to do the thing, and with company it's usually fun. Which is ironically juxtaposed to not wanting to get out of bed because we have so many fears and anxieties about going out. But when we're pushed there, it goes either super awesome or depressingly horrible. No in between. Hopefully this gives some perspective and questions are always welcome.
