My tears are flowing about the same time I look at you and you're wiping your own tears. Avenged Sevenfold touches you on so many levels. Thanks for doing these reactions on their songs! The sheer joy you show when you discover something you love makes every A7X fan happy 😊
My pop served 23 years in the navy (RIP) and the feeling I got Everytime he returned from being out on the ship is a different feeling. An empty feeling that's being filled temporarily. So proud of my hero. May he rest in peace
I served 9 years with multiple tours to Afghanistan as an Army Mortuary Affairs Specialist. This is one of the songs that got me through most of my time overseas and away from home. The other was Momma Sed by Puscifer (definitely react to that some day). Thank you for reacting to this song.
He had been getting better he just been learning new techniques the past year on how not to damage his vocal cords and have been in the process of creating a new album but ever since Covid happened they decided stop until they are able to tour again than they will go back to the studio and finish the album

While I love Gunslinger, My fave Avennged sevenfold song is one I don't hear mentioned often. It's called Strength of the world, and it's a blend of western and rock, a song of love and loss and revenge.
My parents were in the military(Marine Corps and Navy). My dad served overseas. Dangerline or Lost are also great songs to listen to following this one.
Marine wife here. Just wanted to say thanks to your military family members and Sarah's brother. I know how hard it is to have any family member out there. We love your channel and you Alex!! Also thanks to any military or military family in the comments. Stay strong out there during these crazy times
My brother did multiple tour in the 2001 war 2001-2005, 2005-2008, and he was active in the army until 5 years ago. A total of 16 total years in the military. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and I'm just happy he can now be safe home with our family. He was sent home during his first tour for several months from left side shrapnel injuries, "minor luckily" but several of his good buddies did not survive the blast. A roadside bomb blew up on the other side of a tarp convoy my brother was the driver of and if he hadn't been on the drivers side about to walk around the other side to where his buddies were who unfortunately parished, he would not be with us today. This song also hits home for me and I'm lucky and thankful my brother survived and yes GunsLinger. My grandfathers on both sides of my family are survivors of ww2, my uncle a dessert storm survivor, and one cousin currently in the military. Nothing but love and respect for the military and their sacrifice, avenged sevenfold for this amazing song, and to you Alex for the continuous amazing content inspiring me and making my days so much better with all the love and amazing words you share. So thank you! :)
I love Avenged Sevenfold! I didn’t know people outside of rock knew them. I didn’t know they were that well known and judged. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs and I’ve never seen the music video and I thought the name was pronounced Gunslinger run together like a cowboy is a gunslinger didn’t know it was guns linger.
Alex, I appreciate your empathy. I’ve been in the Army for 4 years and I’ve had to leave home so many times, but each time it hurts even more than the last. Love you, dude. ❤️
To many that don't understand what it means to lose a brother or sister, hurt broods but to channel correctly is what they do. Thank you and I love you all.
My dad served in Afghanistan for 1 year I was only 3 years old dis song hits different for me like Alex said not all the solders come home I’m grateful my dad came home and to everyone out there who has family in the military it’s tough but you’ll overcome it.🖤🖤🤘🤘🤛🏼
Hey Alex, I'm Jason. First time commenting lol. My younger sister's husband went into the Navy right out of high school. And let me tell you, knowing a little of what he was doing with the Navy, we should have been way more worried. But he came back and discharged. Now the sad thing of all this is he's worse off now because of ptsd and depression. You are awesome brother. Keep up with the good messages. The world needs people like you more than we know. Peace
I served two tours in Afghanistan and had one extremely close call with one of the pilots in my unit. He was shot in the head and his copilot shot in the leg, but somehow he managed to fly the helicopter back and get his copilot to safety. It took him 3 long years, but he mostly recovered from that. My second tour we had a team of pathfinders all die due to some bad intel/ambitious officer decisions. Thankfully I did not know them as well or I would be haunted every night, but I think about them all often. And to top it off, my unit didn’t have any casualties other than the pathfinder team, but one of our guys died to a drunk driving accident. Young dad of two boys and a wife. I still cry about him whenever I remember the good times. I miss his smile and his laugh. They were infectious. And to think he survived war only to die at home with nobody even trying to kill him. Thank you Amy and all of you for your service. Thank you to the family members of military personnel who have deployed. Your sacrifice is unknown to the vast majority of the civilian population. And thank you Alex for paying homage and tribute to a beautiful song.
Loving the reactions. Been subscribed for a long time now and it feels great to see your progress through all different rock/metal/metal core/black metal/death core genres and taking the time to understand the songs as a whole. Instead of abandoning or ignoring the song due to simply heavier vocals or even lyrics you don't agree with, you understand good music is good music in one way or the other. It physically, mentally and psychologically means LIFE to a lot of people included myself! Keep up the great work, its is truly appreciated. Love from Ireland!!!

great song and great reaction as always! Just wanted to note if anyone didn't know, this vid is fan made. pretty sure most clips were from jarhead. which is an awesome movie that touches on these points made in the song
I have had my dad, uncle and grandpa all been part of the navy as I was growing up. And I have friends who I grew up with be part of the army so every time I listen to songs for the military I think about them
Hey Alex. When you talked about the soldiers feelings when they come home… That hit really close to home. When my dad served in the army in Desert Storm. He came home not himself. From what my grandmother told me. She would wake up to hear screaming coming from his room, only to find him huddled in a corner crying. The horrors he had to endure and orders he had to follow. Scarred him for life. People tend to forget soldiers are human just like you and me. They aren’t invincible. So when we send our men and women to war expecting them to come back safe and sound. It doesn’t always turn out that way. My father is a prime example of that. Even if they show no signs of distress. Shake their hand, give them a hug. Tell them how thankful we are for their sacrifice. Not everyone that comes home, actually come home…
PTSD , my dad had it from Korea and Vietnam. He was in the military 20 years. He suffered with it til the day he died back in 2017 ; 45 years. Godspeed . He's flying with the angels now. I love you forever daddy.
I did 3 tours in Iraq and I still never forgot the feeling of my M16 rifle. I got addicted to being overseas in hazardous zones. It’s a strange thing to tell people, but it’s true. My wife tells me I did 4 tours, but I try to forget.
Most of my family is military (including me). Now, I didn't have combat time, but I have met more than many that have. It's true. Once you go there, you never really come back. Part of you is left in the desert or the jungle. That's why vet's need people to talk to. To help keep a sense of balance. Thanks for this reaction vid brah.
Alex ….. I don’t know how long I’ve been watching you’re reactions because A7x , Slipknot Maggots from way back Trivium , Metallica , Breaking Benjamin , I Prevail are my most favourite bands. My nephew is also in the Army (his name is Taylor also) has been in for I want to say 6 years now. Lives in DC now but has been stationed in South Korea, AZ, and GA. So proud of him! And he does work for cyber security I believe
I have a ton of people in my family that were apart of the military, there is one that I know about that died before he could come home but that was LONG before me
I'm so glad for all the random references you put in here, and your obsession with Dexter. I love it as well, and it's hilarious to hear Daniel Licht's wonderful theme he wrote, while seeing _you_ press coffee, haha. Also love hearing the theme regardless, it's like getting a little taste of the show, in between the times I'm not binging the whole series, lol. Also the little bit of dopamine from just that alone is pretty great, then the dopamine from watching the reaction. Especially when the song/video either blows your mind, scares you, or makes you feel weird. It's hilarious 😂 I know that this one is more heavy, but I also VERY much appreciate seeing those real reactions too. Thanks for being and doing you, man 👌
My country (Costa Rica) doesn't even have an army but I am here crying to such an emotional song. I've been an A7X fan since Waking the Fallen album. Great reaction Alex as always. Stay awesome bro! 😁
I heard this when it came out many years ago, and I never picked up on the GunsLinger. Makes sense. Once a warrior, always a warrior. I may dislike/disagree with many of the decisions that this and former administrations have made, but to our brothers and sisters in uniform, Semper Fi. Thank you for your sacrifices.
It’s the current administration that is getting Americans in Afghanistan killed buddy. Just because you didn’t like Trump’s “mean tweets” doesn’t mean a senile old man who has to read off a teleprompter is better.
@@zGodspeed Show me exactly where I blamed Trump for the deaths in Afghanistan? I said I don't like some of the previous administrations decisions. I know reading is hard but bear with me here: I actually voted for Trump because I thought he was the lesser of two evils. I agree with some of his policy decisions, and I disagree with others; I didn't specify what specific decisions I agreed or disagreed with. I dont even own a Twitter so i have no idea where you are getting the idea that I disliked Trump because of his "mean tweets," (regardless of whether or not that is true). Its people like you who give the Democratic party such easy ammo to discredit those on the right. Don't stoop to their level. Do better. I'm ashamed at how the current administration has handled the situation on the ground, and I'm furious that it has led to the deaths of both American citizens and their allies, and I believe that if they keep operating from a position of weakness and keep blaming the previous administration, the Afghan govt., and the people on the ground for not getting out sooner, instead of taking ownership of their mistakes, then this is only the beginning.
My step dad was in the Army for 10 years and even though he tries so hard to hide it, his memories still haunt him to this day. Can you react to "Why so serious" by Dax? Its a great mood lifter
Love this track from them. It holds special place for me cause I am a modern day gunslinger....very proud of this fact. A7X are very patriotic n I love it!💯✔🇺🇸🍻
I love this song one of my favorite Avenged Sevenfold songs, Danger Line has a similar theme. I also highly recommend I Won't See You Tonight parts 1 and 2. Also to answer the end question I don't currently have family in the Military my Grandpa was in WW2 but he died almost a decade ago, and my Sisters husband was in the National Guard but then he got a leg injury and had to be discharged. But I do have a few old friends who joined the Army but don't know if they still are been 5 years or so since I last heard from them.
"we've proven our LOOOOOOVVVE over time's so strong" shit it gives me goosebumps every time... M.Shadows has such a powerful voice! War is not about fighting for what's good nor is it about fighting against evil because, in the end, good and evil is just a matter of point of view...what is certain is that everyone loses something or someone. Plus, having a sibling in the military feels like he/she is part of another family, don't know how to explain it, but besides the pride and honor, there's this subtle feeling of detachment that is kinda hard to bear for relatives. I guess those in that situation can relate.
Alex's A7X checklist:
1. Say they're his favorite band
2. Say they're controversial
3. Actually listen to the song

My nephew is also in the Army (his name is Taylor also) has been in for I want to say 6 years now. Lives in DC now but has been stationed in South Korea, AZ, and GA. So proud of him! And he does work for cyber security I believe
Thank you to all of those who have served or are presently serving! Your service does not go unnoticed.
Thanks for acknowledging the military personnel. My dad used to be in the Navy and I have a son in the Army. Much love to you and yours my friend
@0:48 Alex reads WAY too much into the song title. Lol!
That's the beauty of music you interpret how the songs suppose to be and I love it.
I have a ton of people in my family that were apart of the military, there is one that I know about that died before he could come home but that was LONG before me
Dude! Do the songs Avenged Sevenfold has done for the Call of Duty games! Especially Not Ready to Die!
That is my personal favorite song that have produced
That and carry on is so badass
Hard to pick a fav song of theirs but this one is AMAZING
@@sharing64tacos carry on is amazing
Thanks for being and doing you, man 👌
Lived for the Dexter intro credit music while pouring your coffee LOL
My country (Costa Rica) doesn't even have an army but I am here crying to such an emotional song. I've been an A7X fan since Waking the Fallen album. Great reaction Alex as always. Stay awesome bro! 😁
Man I saw these guys live while deployed. Cool group of guys. Unfortunately it was shortly after the Rev passed.
jake jinhal such an amazing actor and JARHEAD What a movie and soundtrack
Just like what you said man, family is full of military veterans and one serving.
Great reaction. You show real emotion shit can mess with your emotions
Neither did I have always called it Gun Slinger now looking back
It’s the current administration that is getting Americans in Afghanistan killed buddy. Just because you didn’t like Trump’s “mean tweets” doesn’t mean a senile old man who has to read off a teleprompter is better.
11 of our soldiers have died already in Afghanistan because of the Biden administration, yet you have the balls to blame Trump for it?
Love this song ... also, now I really want to watch Jarhead (the movie in the video) again, seriously underrated movie
Love you alex, we don’t get to meet our soldiers when they come home but they still mean the world to us
Ha Haa! Dexter! Love this shit even more! I love how hard you hit your space bar. LMAO!!!
First time I ever heard avenged sevenfold was back in 2010 at my first ever concert the uproar festival one of the best bands that was at that show
Avenged Sevenfold - MIA
Love this track from them. It holds special place for me cause I am a modern day gunslinger....very proud of this fact. A7X are very patriotic n I love it!💯✔🇺🇸🍻
Paradigm and trashed and scattered are insanely underrated too
I love this song one of my favorite Avenged Sevenfold songs, Danger Line has a similar theme.
Coming Home 🤘
You should listen to the live performance from their LIVE In LBC concert!!!!!
Its about time man this was my top comment on the last a7x video.
I just finished basic training lol. Good luck to him in his army career. He is welcomed into the brotherhood with open arms
A7x - simulation!!!!! The most underrated song
I'm 10 years out of the service and I still remember how they felt
"we've proven our LOOOOOOVVVE over time's so strong" shit it gives me goosebumps every time... M.Shadows has such a powerful voice!
War is not about fighting for what's good nor is it about fighting against evil because, in the end, good and evil is just a matter of point of view...what is certain is that everyone loses something or someone. Plus, having a sibling in the military feels like he/she is part of another family, don't know how to explain it, but besides the pride and honor, there's this subtle feeling of detachment that is kinda hard to bear for relatives. I guess those in that situation can relate.
Avenged sevenfold full album
Their most underrated is definitely Sidewinder or Paradigm
Wholesome reaction
Thanks for showing your real emotion...from a career Soldier.
