hello .. is it true that brutfuner pencils are any good ? I really wanted to buy a prismacolor but it was really expensive so I was looking for a similar color pencil. Is it true that Brutfuner has a color similar to Prismacolor ?
@@Veronica-tj8do the Brutfuner pencils are oil based pencils, where the Prismacolor's are wax based, so the consistency varies, as does the colors. But to be honest, I LOVE my Brutfuner pencils! I use my PC's when I watch tutorials, because so many of the very talented colorist's use them in their videos, but when I'm just coloring on my own, I tend to use my Brutfuners. They are very different IMO than the PC's, but they still are smooth, they blend well, and I can use the PC colorless blender with them, as well as the PC white pencil, and they blend every bit as well as the PC's. These Brutfuners are a great value to me, and I appreciate our dear UA-camr above (Color My World) for introducing them to us!! :-)
I actually think they are a new version of the pencil. I saw them on AliExpress for the first time the other day. I’ve had a set of Brutfuner/Guang Hui pencils for a couple of years and I love using them for coloring on Amazon printed paper. I’m looking to get a new set and the square set intrigued me. They look very similar to the Felissimo set of 500 from Japan. I’m glad that you proved to me they are indeed square. Order placed. Thanks Professor!!!
No, I think they are older because the few reviews for these pencils I found that were square were all in a different language and they didn't make a fuss that they were square. All the reviews for these lately are round. AliExpress was nearly 10 dollars more than Amazon. Yes, they are VERY similar to Felissimo except you can tell they are lighter. Felissimo are also longer, but these are the exact same look. I had the opportunity to hold a Felissimo and swatch a tiny bit. They were not my pencils and they were not in use so I was excited to just touch them. The core felt the same and the pencil was pretty much the same as far as pigment.
I thought exactly the same thing. At first glance, I thought they were Felissimos, but knowing she said INEXPENSIVE pencils on the title, I knew they couldn't possibly be Felissimo.
Kelly, The new Brutfuner has 180 pencils now. I am waiting for the 500 square to come out. It doesn't seem as if Amazon is getting the squares in any more so they are the older set. They replaced it with the 180. To actually color with them is no big deal. They kind of sit in the middle of the budget pencils, but the square I couldn't pass up. I also bought the pastel set of squares but they haven't arrived yet.
@@ColorMyWorld I ordered my 120 square set from AliExpress as well as the 24 pastel Marco pencils. I have them already in regular round barrels and they are not bad pencils. Fairly good pigmentation and lay-down is smooth.

I have 2 rounds and one square. The squares being one of my favorite all time sets except I don't color with them. I just think they are SO pretty! I bought the round ones to color with. These are a pretty typical Chinese oil pencil. I bought the 180 set off of Aliexpress and they should be here in a few days. I have been waiting. I have the 160 set. I am not expecting them to be different, but the one advertised off of Aliexpress seemed to have different markings and I was curious to see the difference. Brutfuner is a brand name so the pencils can vary depending on which set they buy and from which manufacturer. In general they are OK pencils for budget sets.
I bought these set from AliExpress today for 29 Euros including shipment from Poland to Germany (where I live). This is a great price and as they are shipped from the EU I will not pay any duty and taxes. I am looking forward to receiving them very much !!

I agree with Kelly E. The promo pictures on AliExpress look like the ones used about 5 years ago for HERO/Guang Hui pencils. The square shape is much nicer looking. I still use my HERO's, both the oil based ones and the water color pencils. 🎨♿👵Barb N.

There are 2 180 sets. The one I have is not the black barrel set. Honestly it's OK for all the colors but I am not jumping around about the quality. The packaging is a nightmare and the colors are so close together it's like I bought a double set of the same colors. I don't know what the black barrel set is like because I don't want a repeat of the one I have. I love the Squares. That's my favorite Brutfuner set.

@@ColorMyWorld I think they felt fine in my hand. Though I think I subconsciously adjusted to hold one of the flat sides between my thumb and forefinger. I’ll know more when I begin to color with them and blend them.
These pencils look wonderful! Unfortunately that Amazon seller is now sold out. I’ve searched eBay, Etsy and AliExpress and can’t find the square pencils so might just order the round Brutfuners. Yes, they just changed it. This set sold out fast after I posted it. I warned people that may happen as there was only one Amazon vendor selling it. It is available on some of the import sites and possibly on Ebay. It still remains one of my favorite pencil sets, but this is for decoration. The pencils themselves are still good, but so are a lot of budget. If you are buying these to color then go with the Amazon Basics or even the Prismacolor 72 for around the same price. If your nuts like me when it comes to pretty sets, they really rank up there with my nicest lookers. In fact I found a pastel set that is being delivered in about a week. I am then going to make some sort of wall art with them. Right now I am working on a video comparing 35 budget sets. It should be out round New Years. I am still waiting for a few sets to come in.
I have Brutfuner pencils but have GuangHui on them too. I love them. I thought they coloured so effortlessly but I am a newbie in colouring so I keep quiet because...well...what do I know? So you can imagine how pleased I was with this video because it isn't just me who loves them. Thank you so much for your review. It validates my findings.
Brutfuner is Guang hui and a whole bunch more. You have to look on the pencils. They screw up and show the pencil name in at least one photo. I once found them using pictures of Farber- castels. These are the squares. One of my favorite pencils because they are really pretty looking.
I have the Brutffuner 72 set, oil based and I love them! Unfortunately they don’t have names only numbers. Of course I’m a newbie to coloring, but I’ve swatched them and they are very pigmented. All the video reviews I could find were in Asian languages. 😋 Mine came in a plastic portfolio with 3 trays. I paid around USD$18 dollars. I’m so happy you are including these in the cross reference database.

I bought these pencils pretty reasonable on Amazon, but I use Primascolors and Caran D'Ache Luminance pencils also Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils,but a 120's pencils for $30 something is not bad,l can't wait to use them.
Have you seen the Zebra Zensations square mechanical pencils? They have a 2.o mm colored lead. You can purchase refills. I got a set of 24 colors PLUS the refills at JoAnn fabrics and Crafts. Then I found a set of 12 colors at Ocean State job lots of $3.00. Amazon deos sell them as well.
Has anyone bought these pencils recently? I purchased a set this week and they are by far the worst set of colored pencils I own(and I own arteza). They are rough and scratchy and not the nice creamy buttery feeling everyone is raving about. So I’m wondering have these pencils changed? I see this video is over five months old so maybe they changed them 🤷♀️ really disappointed because the colors are beautiful. I was excited to see a lot I could use for skin tones but the lighter shades won’t lay down at all. And the color is very uneven on some especially the lighter greens. I’ll be coloring and all of a sudden there is a dark streak across.
Brutfuner has a history of inconsistancy. Mine were fine and they have gotten really good reviews. I don't doubt what you are saying because the company has a long history of buying cheap. They could have used different cores this time around.
Although initially delighted to get these I started to swatch them. However when I moved into the next trays there were all sorts of issues - broken points and discoloured barrels - really scuffed. So the are going back sadly. I feel so disheartened I do not want to try another set. I am in the UK and Amazon has gone down the drain. I have been using Amazon for over 20 years and the pandemic has had an impact. I just have two queries. I have the Shuttle Art 172 and agree they are not the best. The 174 set looks completely different and comes a a bundle with a colouring book, sketch pad, 2 pencil extenders and 4 pencil sharpeners. Is it worth taking a risk with them. They are at the moment around £40.
I wouldn't doubt it. A lot of these pencils coming out of China are similar. I like the Marco square, but while some things from Aliexpress are worth the money, you can often find the same pencils being sold cheaper on Amazon. There is a set of Marco pencils that come in little books. I have my eye on those, but they are over 80.00. These pencils are not that level of great. For 80 I would go out and get another box of Prismas.
I just found the ones you are looking at. There are two different sets. One square with a black barrel and one all painted. I found the Marco pastel ones and those look super interesting. I think I am going to buy a set. Thank you.
@@ColorMyWorld I have the pastel ones and I love them. I haven’t tryed the Holbeins so I can’t compare them. I have also one set of Irojiten pencils (the ones that come in book cases) and I don’t like them, too hard for me.

I do this a lot. It’s a bad habit. I don’t drink, but bought a bottle of expensive Tequila all because the bottle was gorgeous. My Irojiten pencils, I had no intention on using them they are so pretty, but the colors are so unique I had to use them. I have so quite a few boxed set trilogies that are so pretty, I just had to get the kindle version, because I don’t like cracking the spine and getting the pages bent. I have a problem, I know.
@@Msboochie2 YES!!!! I don't drink at all and I have a full bar of pretty liquor bottles. Glad to see I am not the only crazy one who does that. I have bottles going back to my Grandparent's Wedding. I come from a long line of non drinkers so things were passed down for generations.
Hello so I've been coloring for about 2 years now I started with and only used prismacolor premieres I love them I love the way the pigment goes down nice and soft as excuse me I started out with crayolas and immediately went to Christmas I've heard that the oil pencils do not smudge like my prism is due which can be a real nightmare when you get done with a picture and realize you smudged your background with red and brown what I would like to know is how do they compare to the prismacolors for ease of application the reduction in smudging and the price please. 🤓😷
Hi, are the 180 black barrel Brutfuner ones in the black tin with a Sunflower cover the same as these? If they are not, I thought of getting these square ones from Aliexpress. It's cheaper to send to Singapore from China than from Amazon SG. I'm thinking of getting the 72 Deli coloured pencils too.

They are a brutfuner pencil. They are a typical budget oil pencil. Not bad but not polycromos. Suitable for coloring books, some personal art but if you are doing something that is archivable they are probably not suited for that. No low budget pencil is, although they claim they are. They have a typical oil laydown and don't move much with gamsol. Paint thinner is more for wax pencils. But they are beautiful to look at!!!
@@ColorMyWorld Not necessarily archivable however sometimes I want to use more layers than the paper allows. Not move too much is fine the thing keeping you from adding more layers ofter is the binder. However they would require incredible precise coloring? Maybe not for me after all... But dang do they look pretty.
@@ColorMyWorld I don't have these pencil yet, trying to see if this is a budget pencil worth getting. I was horrible disappointed in the brutfuner watercolor pencil. I get oil pencil pigment not moving, but watercolor staying pretty much completely put on watercolor paper... Nah.... I got watercolor pencil set of 10 for 2 euros that dissolve perfectly so cheap is no excuse. So there's that...
I keep coloring books. I copy the pictures onto other paper mostly copy. I used to run a color group for adults. I don't and haven't for yrs but there was a series of books I colored in the book came s a double and my mother used to take one set of I'd have the other pictures and we'd color off and have an aunt pick who won gifts whe anything from a candy and a can of pop to Jars of candles. with my mom passed on now I still photo copy
So……here a year later……just starting out and I can’t believe I actually have these pencils……well…I seem to have. LOT of pencils 🤣🤣🤣acquired most of them recently….. but……I have these beautiful square pencils. I can’t believe they’re $29.98 right now… so you could get a set to use and a set to look at if THAT were in your budget !!!! It might be in mine later ….. much later.
I have a set of the round ones that I love. I just don't use them often because I haven't taken the time to color swatch them. I get frustrated by the number only system 🤷🏼♀️😂 Btw. the round ones don't even have Chinese lettering.

I looked at the pencils, watched the color go down and BAM-I had to get them...was not expecting that. I love my polychromous so, yeah one more set😁, here they come.
If you read Chinese, each pencil had been given a really poetic name..... for example, stream in summer (blue) cheerful sky (lighter blue) and so on..... very poetic.
@@ellyfranken6137 Quite typical of China product, They have interesting but inconsistent marketing. Those Himi or Miya jelly gouache sets (commonly available in art supply shops in China) often have interesting names too.
Are you talking about polychromos or castle arts? If you are thinking polychromos there is no real way of comparing them. Polychromos is an artist grade pencil in the price range between 200-300, while these are under 50. I would compare these to shipierr farben and that would be around even. There are reasons some pencils cost what they do. Shipierr Farben are in the way upper quality range of the lower price pencils, if that makes sense. These I would put in the upper middle. I am going to be coming out with a whole bunch of data on these pencils. I am still in the testing phase. I'll be done around the first or second week in January

The vendor changed it. The 180 is new. I ordered it to see how it does. They sold out of the square. I knew they would. You can get the square on the China trade sites like Ali Express. If you want one you better hurry because I doubt they are making them anymore with this new 180 set out now.
You have to go looking on Amazon. Search 80, 120, 160, 180 etc and just go through all the pages. You'll sometimes find a set for around 20 quid. There are loads of different ones, some in tins and some in plastic pockets but they're all the same pencils from the same factories.
These are incredible! I wanted to save them, they were so pretty, but they color so beautifully! They even work well in Romantic Country, which is my most picky paper. If they come back in stock, I will get a second set to keep intact, but these are wonderful! I do wish they were easier to sharpen (due to the shape), but they're fabulous. Thanks for this review. They're literally not 100% oil. They're a mix of oil and wax, just ask the manufacturer. You'll never find a 100% oil based pencil at that price point. It's too expensive to make.
@@ColorMyWorld what you SAID was 100% oil. That's not what they are. There are more ingredients that are relevant than just oil and wax. It could be the primary ingredient if it's just 1% more and there's more of both than the fillers, that doesn't make it a truly oil based pencil. You'll have to ask the manufacturer what they're made of, the packing does not sufficiently explain it. Please don't spread misinformation, it confuses newer hobbyists.
Oh! I only saw this today! I should have checked my notifications! Because now they're back to circular barrel. I can find them on a few previously unheard of shopping apps, but I'm not sure about their reliability. I've been after Brutfuner and keep buying these 168 pencil sets because I'm trying to find a very particular set of Brutfuner colours that are SO vibrant that... honestly? You'd think they were neons - without the thick waxy neon pencil consistency. They seem to have updated their sets or something and now the 168 sets are numbered differently than the one I originally bought and they don't have these... knock down colours. Seriously, I've never seen pencils with as much vibrancy as this probably now obsolete version. But I can't find them anywhere. I've bought about four 168 Brutfuner pencils sets from very different websites that with some, even the numbers on the preview pics of the ones for sale actually match the numbers I have in the originals, but so far, I've only gotten the new set colours, which are nowhere near what the originals were like. I'll keep one of the new versions, but I'll have to send the other ones back obviously. They're still good enough for me to keep one of the new versions and they are still extremely vibrant compared with other pencils, but nothing like the original ones I bought I think in 2019. But yeah, I have a LOT to say about Brutfuners and how fantastic they are, BUT (and this is a huge but), they're inconsistent with each other. One set on one site might be completely differently numbered etc than ones on another site. So you can't even use the same swatch chart for them. And also you have to order them under the names like Wan Shui, Guan Hui and all these other names that end up with "Brutfuner" written on them but not marketed as Brutfuner. I cannot even find a WEBSITE for Brutfuners. They're inconsistently branded and the colours between the sets vary immensely, even if you buy the SAME product (you know on Amazon etc they have the whole Buy Again thing. I even did that and they were STILL not the same as the originals! Another completely different colour chart with some similar colours but different numbers than previous/other versions of these pencils. And THAT... is what makes certain sets of these pencils VERY hard to get/what you end up receiving. The complete instability/changeability of their numbering. So with that one set that I DO have that are beyond comprehensively fabulous are all getting sharpened on the T'gaal on a 1 setting and way more precious to me than the Holbeins and almost the Felissimos. I bought the full 500 set of Felissimos from some hapless person on eBay who had been receiving them since 2017, diligently collecting their monthly set with the intention of selling the entire 500 on EBay when the square/subscription ones finished in late 2019, I believe. The versions BEFORE the latest square Felissimos are totally crap, so don't judge the new version by the pre-2019 circular ones - completely different pencil. I've done a basic circular chart of the Felissimos, but because I did do it by month/set order as I was curious about what they put in their... "Tropicals" or whatever set, so I'll have to go through each of the 25 packs and pull each colour out as I know and do a proper colour chart so I can compare them a lot more accurately. But anyway, back to my obsession that is Brutfuner... I used to be an enormous proponent for the setting 1 on the T'gaal sharpener, but I've grown out of the T'gaal because I realised the benefits all on my own - the way I have to do anything to accept that something is right when I can't see why that is right - why WASN'T everyone else "saving their pencils"/using the shortest taper possible vs having a much longer taper? I found out why. But yeah, if anyone can find a website for Brutfuner, can you possibly please let me know as I've... googled 'til there just ain't no Google left. But yeah - they're fantastic pencils. Yes the original set I'm after is one of the thin crappy pencils that have about 1mm of core etc etc but the colours... Hmm. Stunning. I'm going back to charting for a while (I got addicted to the point where I wasn't doing any actual colourings - just colour charts and I've been on a two month self-imposed break) but nope, going back to it for a while and I'll do a lot more detailed colour chart for the Felissimos (if anyone is interested in that even - at all - as not a lot people use them so me showing a colour chart of the Felissimos probably is a bit useless/uninteresting as I've been told) and these mirage Brutfuners that are probably extinct to show you what I mean. But yes - website! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year's 🎄🪴

These are a pretty typical Chinese oil pencil. I bought the 180 set off of Aliexpress and they should be here in a few days. I have been waiting. I have the 160 set. I am not expecting them to be different, but the one advertised off of Aliexpress seemed to have different markings and I was curious to see the difference. Brutfuner is a brand name so the pencils can vary depending on which set they buy and from which manufacturer. In general they are OK pencils for budget sets.
I bought these set from AliExpress today for 29 Euros including shipment from Poland to Germany (where I live). This is a great price and as they are shipped from the EU I will not pay any duty and taxes. I am looking forward to receiving them very much !!
So I had to buy both the 120 (these) and the 180 (round) set. I was doing so good this month on not buying anything for myself! oh well!!!!

I agree with Kelly E. The promo pictures on AliExpress look like the ones used about 5 years ago for HERO/Guang Hui pencils. The square shape is much nicer looking. I still use my HERO's, both the oil based ones and the water color pencils. 🎨♿👵Barb N.

There are 2 180 sets. The one I have is not the black barrel set. Honestly it's OK for all the colors but I am not jumping around about the quality. The packaging is a nightmare and the colors are so close together it's like I bought a double set of the same colors. I don't know what the black barrel set is like because I don't want a repeat of the one I have. I love the Squares. That's my favorite Brutfuner set.

Yes, they just changed it. This set sold out fast after I posted it. I warned people that may happen as there was only one Amazon vendor selling it. It is available on some of the import sites and possibly on Ebay. It still remains one of my favorite pencil sets, but this is for decoration. The pencils themselves are still good, but so are a lot of budget. If you are buying these to color then go with the Amazon Basics or even the Prismacolor 72 for around the same price. If your nuts like me when it comes to pretty sets, they really rank up there with my nicest lookers. In fact I found a pastel set that is being delivered in about a week. I am then going to make some sort of wall art with them. Right now I am working on a video comparing 35 budget sets. It should be out round New Years. I am still waiting for a few sets to come in.
I have Brutfuner pencils but have GuangHui on them too. I love them. I thought they coloured so effortlessly but I am a newbie in colouring so I keep quiet because...well...what do I know? So you can imagine how pleased I was with this video because it isn't just me who loves them. Thank you so much for your review. It validates my findings.
Brutfuner is Guang hui and a whole bunch more. You have to look on the pencils. They screw up and show the pencil name in at least one photo. I once found them using pictures of Farber- castels. These are the squares. One of my favorite pencils because they are really pretty looking.

I have the Brutffuner 72 set, oil based and I love them! Unfortunately they don’t have names only numbers. Of course I’m a newbie to coloring, but I’ve swatched them and they are very pigmented. All the video reviews I could find were in Asian languages. 😋

I bought these pencils pretty reasonable on Amazon, but I use Primascolors and Caran D'Ache Luminance pencils also Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils,but a 120's pencils for $30 something is not bad,l can't wait to use them.

Have you seen the Zebra Zensations square mechanical pencils? They have a 2.o mm colored lead. You can purchase refills. I got a set of 24 colors PLUS the refills at JoAnn fabrics and Crafts. Then I found a set of 12 colors at Ocean State job lots of $3.00. Amazon deos sell them as well.

Has anyone bought these pencils recently? I purchased a set this week and they are by far the worst set of colored pencils I own(and I own arteza). They are rough and scratchy and not the nice creamy buttery feeling everyone is raving about. So I’m wondering have these pencils changed? I see this video is over five months old so maybe they changed them 🤷♀️ really disappointed because the colors are beautiful. I was excited to see a lot I could use for skin tones but the lighter shades won’t lay down at all. And the color is very uneven on some especially the lighter greens. I’ll be coloring and all of a sudden there is a dark streak across.
Brutfuner has a history of inconsistancy. Mine were fine and they have gotten really good reviews. I don't doubt what you are saying because the company has a long history of buying cheap. They could have used different cores this time around.
I have these and I love them!
Although initially delighted to get these I started to swatch them. However when I moved into the next trays there were all sorts of issues - broken points and discoloured barrels - really scuffed. So the are going back sadly. I feel so disheartened I do not want to try another set. I am in the UK and Amazon has gone down the drain. I have been using Amazon for over 20 years and the pandemic has had an impact. I just have two queries. I have the Shuttle Art 172 and agree they are not the best. The 174 set looks completely different and comes a a bundle with a colouring book, sketch pad, 2 pencil extenders and 4 pencil sharpeners. Is it worth taking a risk with them. They are at the moment around £40.

I think that they are the same as the Marco Square that you can easily find on Aliexpress. The have names and Numbers on them
I wouldn't doubt it. A lot of these pencils coming out of China are similar. I like the Marco square, but while some things from Aliexpress are worth the money, you can often find the same pencils being sold cheaper on Amazon. There is a set of Marco pencils that come in little books. I have my eye on those, but they are over 80.00. These pencils are not that level of great. For 80 I would go out and get another box of Prismas.
I just found the ones you are looking at. There are two different sets. One square with a black barrel and one all painted. I found the Marco pastel ones and those look super interesting. I think I am going to buy a set. Thank you.

I do this a lot. It’s a bad habit. I don’t drink, but bought a bottle of expensive Tequila all because the bottle was gorgeous. My Irojiten pencils, I had no intention on using them they are so pretty, but the colors are so unique I had to use them. I have so quite a few boxed set trilogies that are so pretty, I just had to get the kindle version, because I don’t like cracking the spine and getting the pages bent. I have a problem, I know.

Hello so I've been coloring for about 2 years now I started with and only used prismacolor premieres I love them I love the way the pigment goes down nice and soft as excuse me I started out with crayolas and immediately went to Christmas I've heard that the oil pencils do not smudge like my prism is due which can be a real nightmare when you get done with a picture and realize you smudged your background with red and brown what I would like to know is how do they compare to the prismacolors for ease of application the reduction in smudging and the price please. 🤓😷
Hi, are the 180 black barrel Brutfuner ones in the black tin with a Sunflower cover the same as these? If they are not, I thought of getting these square ones from Aliexpress. It's cheaper to send to Singapore from China than from Amazon SG. I'm thinking of getting the 72 Deli coloured pencils too.

I use a Dahl 133 sharpener on my squares and it works a treat though I expect you have discovered this by now😂

They are a brutfuner pencil. They are a typical budget oil pencil. Not bad but not polycromos. Suitable for coloring books, some personal art but if you are doing something that is archivable they are probably not suited for that. No low budget pencil is, although they claim they are. They have a typical oil laydown and don't move much with gamsol. Paint thinner is more for wax pencils. But they are beautiful to look at!!!
@@ColorMyWorld Not necessarily archivable however sometimes I want to use more layers than the paper allows. Not move too much is fine the thing keeping you from adding more layers ofter is the binder. However they would require incredible precise coloring? Maybe not for me after all... But dang do they look pretty.

I get oil pencil pigment not moving, but watercolor staying pretty much completely put on watercolor paper... Nah.... I got watercolor pencil set of 10 for 2 euros that dissolve perfectly so cheap is no excuse. So there's that...

I don't and haven't for yrs but there was a series of books I colored in the book came s a double and my mother used to take one set of I'd have the other pictures and we'd color off and have an aunt pick who won gifts whe anything from a candy and a can of pop to Jars of candles. with my mom passed on now I still photo copy

I looked at the pencils, watched the color go down and BAM-I had to get them...was not expecting that. I love my polychromous so, yeah one more set😁, here they come.
If you read Chinese, each pencil had been given a really poetic name..... for example, stream in summer (blue) cheerful sky (lighter blue) and so on..... very poetic.

I go to China pretty often (before this COVID) but i have never seen these set sold in art supplies. There are many good art supplies shop there.

@@ellyfranken6137 Quite typical of China product, They have interesting but inconsistent marketing. Those Himi or Miya jelly gouache sets (commonly available in art supply shops in China) often have interesting names too.

Are you talking about polychromos or castle arts? If you are thinking polychromos there is no real way of comparing them. Polychromos is an artist grade pencil in the price range between 200-300, while these are under 50. I would compare these to shipierr farben and that would be around even. There are reasons some pencils cost what they do. Shipierr Farben are in the way upper quality range of the lower price pencils, if that makes sense. These I would put in the upper middle. I am going to be coming out with a whole bunch of data on these pencils. I am still in the testing phase. I'll be done around the first or second week in January

The vendor changed it. The 180 is new. I ordered it to see how it does. They sold out of the square. I knew they would. You can get the square on the China trade sites like Ali Express. If you want one you better hurry because I doubt they are making them anymore with this new 180 set out now.

Are any decent pencils that are budget friendly available in the UK?
You have to go looking on Amazon. Search 80, 120, 160, 180 etc and just go through all the pages. You'll sometimes find a set for around 20 quid. There are loads of different ones, some in tins and some in plastic pockets but they're all the same pencils from the same factories.
These are incredible! I wanted to save them, they were so pretty, but they color so beautifully! They even work well in Romantic Country, which is my most picky paper. If they come back in stock, I will get a second set to keep intact, but these are wonderful! I do wish they were easier to sharpen (due to the shape), but they're fabulous. Thanks for this review. Great stuff as always.

They're literally not 100% oil. They're a mix of oil and wax, just ask the manufacturer. You'll never find a 100% oil based pencil at that price point. It's too expensive to make.
No pencil is but they are named by the primary ingredient so if it's more wax than oil it's called a wax. If it's more oil than wax it's called an oil
@@ColorMyWorld what you SAID was 100% oil. That's not what they are. There are more ingredients that are relevant than just oil and wax. It could be the primary ingredient if it's just 1% more and there's more of both than the fillers, that doesn't make it a truly oil based pencil. You'll have to ask the manufacturer what they're made of, the packing does not sufficiently explain it. Please don't spread misinformation, it confuses newer hobbyists.

Oh! I only saw this today! I should have checked my notifications! Because now they're back to circular barrel. I can find them on a few previously unheard of shopping apps, but I'm not sure about their reliability.
I've been after Brutfuner and keep buying these 168 pencil sets because I'm trying to find a very particular set of Brutfuner colours that are SO vibrant that... honestly? You'd think they were neons - without the thick waxy neon pencil consistency. They seem to have updated their sets or something and now the 168 sets are numbered differently than the one I originally bought and they don't have these... knock down colours. Seriously, I've never seen pencils with as much vibrancy as this probably now obsolete version. But I can't find them anywhere. I've bought about four 168 Brutfuner pencils sets from very different websites that with some, even the numbers on the preview pics of the ones for sale actually match the numbers I have in the originals, but so far, I've only gotten the new set colours, which are nowhere near what the originals were like. I'll keep one of the new versions, but I'll have to send the other ones back obviously.
They're still good enough for me to keep one of the new versions and they are still extremely vibrant compared with other pencils, but nothing like the original ones I bought I think in 2019.
But yeah, I have a LOT to say about Brutfuners and how fantastic they are, BUT (and this is a huge but), they're inconsistent with each other. One set on one site might be completely differently numbered etc than ones on another site. So you can't even use the same swatch chart for them. And also you have to order them under the names like Wan Shui, Guan Hui and all these other names that end up with "Brutfuner" written on them but not marketed as Brutfuner.
I cannot even find a WEBSITE for Brutfuners. They're inconsistently branded and the colours between the sets vary immensely, even if you buy the SAME product (you know on Amazon etc they have the whole Buy Again thing. I even did that and they were STILL not the same as the originals! Another completely different colour chart with some similar colours but different numbers than previous/other versions of these pencils.
And THAT... is what makes certain sets of these pencils VERY hard to get/what you end up receiving. The complete instability/changeability of their numbering.
So with that one set that I DO have that are beyond comprehensively fabulous are all getting sharpened on the T'gaal on a 1 setting and way more precious to me than the Holbeins and almost the Felissimos. I bought the full 500 set of Felissimos from some hapless person on eBay who had been receiving them since 2017, diligently collecting their monthly set with the intention of selling the entire 500 on EBay when the square/subscription ones finished in late 2019, I believe.
The versions BEFORE the latest square Felissimos are totally crap, so don't judge the new version by the pre-2019 circular ones - completely different pencil.
I've done a basic circular chart of the Felissimos, but because I did do it by month/set order as I was curious about what they put in their... "Tropicals" or whatever set, so I'll have to go through each of the 25 packs and pull each colour out as I know and do a proper colour chart so I can compare them a lot more accurately. But anyway, back to my obsession that is Brutfuner...
I used to be an enormous proponent for the setting 1 on the T'gaal sharpener, but I've grown out of the T'gaal because I realised the benefits all on my own - the way I have to do anything to accept that something is right when I can't see why that is right - why WASN'T everyone else "saving their pencils"/using the shortest taper possible vs having a much longer taper? I found out why.
But yeah, if anyone can find a website for Brutfuner, can you possibly please let me know as I've... googled 'til there just ain't no Google left.
But yeah - they're fantastic pencils. Yes the original set I'm after is one of the thin crappy pencils that have about 1mm of core etc etc but the colours... Hmm. Stunning. I'm going back to charting for a while (I got addicted to the point where I wasn't doing any actual colourings - just colour charts and I've been on a two month self-imposed break) but nope, going back to it for a while and I'll do a lot more detailed colour chart for the Felissimos (if anyone is interested in that even - at all - as not a lot people use them so me showing a colour chart of the Felissimos probably is a bit useless/uninteresting as I've been told) and these mirage Brutfuners that are probably extinct to show you what I mean.
