Hey guys! Many of you wondered about the Brutfuner pastel 80 set that is available so I contacted Andstal (they sell both) and they said the 80 set is an old formula that has been around a while and the colors are not the same as the shades in the new 50 Macaron set I reviewed here. In other words, they are not the same pencils. I just wanted to let you know in case you were thinking about ordering those for the extra 30 colors. I haven't used them so I can't comment on their quality but I did get confirmation that they are not the same as the ones I reviewed today.
Lindsay, thank you so much for all your reviews through the years. I rarely purchase an item before hearing a review from you. I love the way you cram so much information in your videos, all while sounding so cheerful and optimistic. I also love how you do several pieces of art before your reviews so you really know the product well. You are so honest that I trust your reviews the most. You're awesome! Thanks again.
These pencils look so pretty and I absolutely love those colours. Hubby got me a set of the Polychromos 120s for Christmas, which are obviously a total luxury item. While it doesn't have as many pastel colours, I am very in love with the range it does have. I haven't even had time to really appreciate them just yet, as I only got them and it's such a busy day. Yet, I still see this video and drool on your colours here. They are truely beautiful ❤️ between my Fabre Castles and Inktense sets, I honestly feel truly blessed. I don't know how, but randomly found the Inktense earlier in the year with a very large and out of the ordinary discount. A year ago, both sets of pencils were my absolute dream and now I close out the year with them. Therefore I need to stop drooling on your colours here, but wow they are so pretty ❤️
I ended up ordering these from Etsy for $17. It’s surprising to me how similar they are to Prismacolor. They don’t lay down quite as easy and they don’t layer as well but the softness is there and they blend well. Happy with them
But honestly how often are you going to use them? Are you a professional artist? If you used one art supply that you own everyday for a year how many times would you use these?
A brand that I tried recently and surprisingly liked is Indra Macaron. They are sold in Amazon and their tin is in Spanish (Amazon is not great at packing delicate items and just put them in envelopes so the tin came somewhat warped). These Indra pencils are strangely good: their core is soft but not extremely buttery, and yet they fill really well the tooth of watercolor paper. While some of the shades are border neon, they are very pigmented.
So pleased Lindsay, I’ve got the full sets of colour soft and prismacolor pencils and have a set of these on order! So glad they go well and add to both and I do love a soft pencil. Thankyou for sharing, take care and stay safe xx
Okay those macarons definitely made me crave some for sure! Your artworks are amazing!! I am happy to know these works well with Prismacolor!! Yay for budget pastel colored pencils that's actually nice!
I’m so 🍀. My granddaughter is stationed in Japan 🇯🇵 and I received the Holbein 💯 set and the Holbein Pastel 50 set for Christmas 🎄, so I can maintain my no buy status 🙂 Can’t wait to give the jellyfish a try. Enjoyed the review.
@kaylaglazz ? Bring stationed somewhere, at a long standing military base, does not at all mean that the US is at war with or bothering Japan. There are military bases from every nation stationed all over the world. Relax.
Oh I ASSURE you, that not only women /people our age are interested in an assortment of pastel color pencils 😉😉 my sixteen year old daughter was beside herself with joy when I bought her one set as well. She's totally into pastel colors, kawaii stuff ect and lives to draw with these. Thx for the thorough review! Subscribed ✅
😍! Thanks so much for reviewing these beauties! I’m so glad they feel like prismacolor. I’ve been waiting for this set all of my life 😂 ( exaggerating). Honesty tho can’t wait to get these beauties! ✊🏾🙏
Thanks so much for reviewing these! You and the Art Gear Guy are top tier reviewers in my opinion. Also, those Jelly Fish are amazing, you are so talented! 💜
I ordered these after seeing your jellyfish. I absolutely love how they came out! As I only have a couple of budget colored pencil sets, these fit the bill in price as well as giving those softer shades I wanted too. Appreciated you sharing your artwork and review on these!
So glad I'm not the only one who loves prismacolor. There is nothing like them for getting a paintely oil masters effect, I often copy the masters for an exercise and prisma is great for that blending a breeze. Like to see a window test on both holbien and the brutfuners for comparison. Thanks for the review.
So glad I found your review. Thank you for this! I really wish I'd purchased these instead of the castle arts pastletint. I think I would enjoy the control of the thinner leads more, and a smaller barrel diameter. The castle arts pastels are very thick. I'm used to working with polychromos, so I love a sharp, precise point.
Thank you Lindsay for your review ! I have been dying to buy the Holbein pencils but found them too expensive ! Now I look forward to buying these . I already have Caran d ache and polychromos pencils .
I bought them 2 weeks ago, They arrived within 7 days, well wrapped. I like them, but they are no Holbein. The penciltips do not last much, they are very soft, so you have to sharpen them a lot. But hay, for the prize, these are great.
Very helpful! I have more colored pencils than 5 people could use in a lifetime :) But I always revert to Prismacolor which I've had for years. Just a heads up--I use a lot of Bee watercolor paper. They are still around but the watercolor sketchbooks are frequently out of stock on Blick.
I love my Prismas but find myself using my Arteza ones more and more because I know that I can't afford to replace the Prismas (I have the 72 set which I got really lucky with and found on sale and would love the full set but I am unable to work due to disability so they are well out of my price range 😢). The Artezas are very good for budget pencils though.
@@Littlewings1211 The prisma are actually less in open stock than the arteza, you can buy them one at a time vs a pack of 3, and they offer every pencil open stock while arteza only offers a selection that does not correspond with any of their sets (60/120). Also prisma is available in local stores in many areas of the world so you can save on shipping. Just something to consider. While Arteza is less up front, prisma is actually less over time. Unless you live in the UK which if that is the case disregard because they are rare and expensive there.
Hey Lindsay! Got these in mail last week and LOVE them! They are soft and have beautiful bright colors and nice neutrals. Works great with prismacolor. This is my first pastel set. I have 3 Holbein pencils and really wanted a less expensive alternative for mixed media. Also my first time ordering from Aliexpress. After playing with them for couple days I ordered another set for gift and another set for myself. They are a dollar less than first purchase today with no shipping cost. No more Holbein envy. Thanks so much!
soooo pretty. I'm still waiting for mine. super happy with your review I am stoked. I've seen reviews of Holbein and tbh they never gave me that want monster feeling. I'm ready more than ever for these. woohoo
Thank you! I found this very interesting and informative! I'm a Prismacolor fan for decades. The biggest problem I have is the lead pushing out of the pencil with sometimes very little pressure. I've often wondered why they do not cap the end. At least now I know that I can add to my sets with these. Grateful for your revue.
I received the Black Widow Monarch pencils for Christmas, and a few others, but now that I see these also have some pastel colors, I might have to buy them when I can! I have a coloring book that I want to do in "mostly" pastel (only because most pastel colors are duplicates in pencils.) It's the Pusheen Coloring Book, something I can mindlessly color in without planning my palette out so much compared to when I'm working in Kerby Rosanes books
I only have Prismacolor pencils, and I love using them. I have wished many times that I had more pastel colors to work with. Sooo, here we go. Many thanks. Lindsay.
What a great comparison video! I loved all your advice. Uh pastelowe, which I have, are very hard pencils. Given my liking for the Brut squares, I bet I would use these way more than the pastelowe! Thanks!!
I have a set of the Holbein pastels. I ordered these and I was surprised the the Brutfuner 50 are a very close knockoff for such a low price. I think they are nice to work with and a great price for people who can't or don't want to pay the Holbein price.
They do look lovely and so is your artwork! It would be interesting to know how they compare to the Castle Arts pastel set. I bought that one but I’m not sure I like it. I have to try them on different paper. They look suspiciously similar and are probably also copying the Holbein design.
Another stellar review Lindsay. I ordered this set last week and expecting it to arrive before the end of the month. Looking forward to playing with them on some black paper.
I got the Pastelow pastel set, which is almost identical in colour, although of course not in quality, to the Holbeins. And I'm only using them in colouring books, so I don't need a $150 set of pastel coloured pencils for that. This set looks really beautiful, too.
Thank you Lindsay for this great review (all of your reviews are fantastic)! I just bought these pencils! I've always wanted a set of pretty pastel colored pencils, and these are lovely. I have two or three sets of 12 each Prismacolors in the little tins, so am just getting started with colored pencil collecting and am happy to add these. The set for me was less than $18 US including VAT and they had free shipping. Of course it'll take over a month to get them 🤣and I'm in California (so technically closer to China).
After watching you video I bought some of these from AliExpress for £9.98 I love them. The even work over pearlescent paint. There is a set of 80 but they are not the same as these, thank you Lindsey for all your wonderful videos xxx
I purchased these yesterday. Andstal has more than one store and I paid $12 at one and another they were $16. Can’t wait to compare them to the Holbeins.
These just arrived yesterday. After watching your review, I decided to order them because I love pastel colors and these just looked so pretty. After playing with them yesterday I am so pleased with them. I am headed to Florida from Minnesota and hoping it will be warm enough for me to do some flowers with them outside. But it is the panhandle area and their forecast is for cold. Oh well at least no snow and I will get to see my parents.
@@thefrugalcrafter Thanks. We had two days of white knuckle driving, one day was 16 hours on the road and the next was 11. Thank goodness for my husband doing the driving. The cat travelled with us and she must have a 24 hour bladder She is a good traveller, she sits on my lap most of the time. But we arrived safe and seeing my parents is great. Not warm, but there is some green and sunshine and the birds are busy around the feeders. Olana (the cat) loves watching the section.
I found the Bee paper on Amazon. A 9x12 pad of 40 sheets is $12.55 as of January 10, 2022. You can also get an 18x24 pad of 40 sheets for $28.56. You could make a 9x12 sketchbook by cutting each sheet in half along the 18 inch side and you'd have 80 sheets (160 pages, yikes!)
I'm glad I ordered mine before you reviewed them because they'll probably sell out in 3....2....1.... HEHEHE!! I can't wait to get them. Thanks for the in-depth review, as always.
I love my Holbeins but this Brutfuner Macaron aren't bad. I liken the relationship between them like Poly Chromos to Deli. Good dupe, not the same quality, but good. Brutfuner matches the colors in the Holbein set better than Deli matches Poly Chromos. (there is no matching Poly Chromos in my mind).
Agree that Prismas are softer than Holbeins. I’ve had them both for the same amount of time, just over three years. My Holbeins are Japanese, don’t know if they are the same but would imagine so. Loved the review as always as they as so in depth. Only really trust yours.
Thanks for another awesome review. There goes no buy January. Looks too good and priced well to pass up. Can’t wait to try my hand at the jellyfish you did last week. I’ve seen Bee paper in different packaging at Walmart. Not sure if it’s the same.
Ok you sold me!!! I have a decent set of prismacolor a but not many pastels - excited to add this set to them!!! Thanks for the great and thorough review!
Great review and information. Nice to know there’s a good SOFTpencil Holbein dupe out there that can be had for a song! Helps calm the Holbein want monster!😂
@@thefrugalcrafter Well, I wanted, but I was too cheap to buy them - especially because I don’t use them frequently enough to warrant that kind of outlay!
Lindsey always watch your videos I think they're very interesting I actually been able to find some of these items and I've been able to purchase some I just wanted to say you and artist Jean Bush have been very helpful to me thank you
Aliexpress isn’t bad. You just need to look at the seller, it’s like eBay. And speaking of- check eBay before ordering from aliexpress and amazon. I got a set of the 520 pencils for $40. They might not be worth $100 for a drawing set, but they certainly are for that price. We also bought the squares for $10 there. It’s nice to use the squares and then fill in the gaps with the 520
I have been without the internet at our house for over two months. Horrible! Along with everything else I do online, I missed my YT shows, yours included. These pencils have some beautiful colors to them! Thanks for the Info.
This video convinced me to buy them. I set up an Aliexpress account and waited a bit. And I am SO GLAD I got them! I've had them for a few weeks now. I love the shades wayy more than the Castle Arts pasteltint set. I will not shell out for Holbein. It just ain't happening. The quality is pretty great. They're a thicker pencil. I prefer smaller but they feel great to use and they look classy as heck. They perform wonderfully. They leave nothing to be desired. And for the price? I don't feel duped. I feel like I got something amazing for a fraction of what they could charge. This also made me purchase the square brutfuners. Finally. And they're really great too. They're not my favorite. And I DO LOVE oil based pencils so so so so so much. My favorite being Schpirrer Farben. I love those even more than my Polychromos. But I'm so grateful for Lindsey doing this thorough review. Without it I may have just kept skipping Brutfuner and missed out on two of some of my favorite sets in my collection. I appreciate how much work you put into these and I don't feel like I'm being sold something. Or that you're convincing me to like something just because you do. It's very clearly laid out for me to decide on my own if this set is something I'm interested it. I appreciate ya!
thank you for this review! i love my macarons and this is also the first time that i ordered a backup set. it was only 13 euros in another shop, so i just couldn't say no.
The Bee paper company was closed for a while I think but then they were bought out by another company in order to keep them open, unfortunately their stock of paper doesn't seem to be as easily found despite the buy out. Holbein's and the more pricey pencils, marker's, etc., are out of my reach so I'm always searching for the really low budget cheapo's that have good pigmentation.
bought these. I still prefer the prismacolor pencils but these are very good. They are easy to use and apply the color well. Happy with the range of pastel colors. Cost was less than $20 for 50.
Thank you! 😊 I had already ordered mine but def plan to compare to my Holbeins too. I'm like you. I prefer to smoosh those prismacolor pencils so I compare a lot to what I love.
Lindsay there is a big difference in oil vs wax pencils. Please google what is the difference between wax and oil based pencils. It will give you a lot of information. I like the oil because you don’t get wax bloom which can ruined your painting and oil base doesn’t require layering. The two are not the same. Love your channel by the way just trying to help. I like the Rembrandt oil pencils. Both are good it is just preference and how you like to work.
I've used both. All pencils contain a blend if way and oil. Pencils with more wax ate more opaque and usually blend better. Pencils with more oil are more transparent and require layering to achieve saturation and blends. Many Chinese pencils are labeled oil or oily if they are not watersoluble regardless of the proportion of oil vs wax in the lead composition. I prefer pencils with a higher wax content even tho they can have bloom. The opacity works for my mixed media work. I do understand the difference in the vehicle. I apologize for not explaining it more clearly in this video.
This was very helpful. Thank you for sharing such an indeapth review. I heard from Blick that Bee Paper Company had a shipping issue during the pandemic and were unable to provide stock for a while. However, my new Bee Mixed Media pad seems to be a lesser quality then the ones I used in the past. I'm unsure if they also changed their manufacture. Take care
I have a small number of prismacolors. I've loved them since the early 90's. My children helped me lose/break a number of them, so I have only a 24 set I got at Walmart and the few older ones. I have ordered these. I make greeting cards and mainly what I do is flowers. I know there are bright and sharp colored flowers, but pastel flowers are more of what I do. I was convinced by your review, I've ordered a set. I hope, hope, hope they will do a good job. I want to do a lot of cards to brighten some lives. Thank you, and when I heard 'Reny's', I thought, oh my, I will have to go to take a look there...thanks! Blessings to you. (I live about 10 miles from a Reny's, lol.)
@@thefrugalcrafter I am gluten-free due to chronic Lyme. They were the ONLY place I could find specialty flours in the 'early years' of this adventure...I am very thankful for Reny's. Blessings!
I got mine and there are some printing/spelling errors and the names switched but I like them for the price. What would Holbein company say about this macaron set, I just wonder.. it's pretty obvious to me that Brutfuner (tried)copied every side of the Holbein set.
Well, they didn't infringe on any trademarks and you can't copyright a utilitarian item so I think think they can do anything about it. I'm sure they are not Happy about it if they know about it tho.
Thanks so much for this review. I have been wanting a pastel set. They are on sale until Jan 14 and since it was my first purchase I got an extra discount. With tax they were under $15 US. They are double that plus shipping on Etsy.
Great video! I am new to colored pencils, and want to start small (not invest a lot of money) until I determine if I like colored pencils. Thanks again!
You're welcome. This might not be the best starter set because you will want some darker shades as well. Check out my review of the brutfuner square pencils. I think that would be a better starter set.
@@thefrugalcrafter Oh, I see! I am looking for a budget set to use with Gamsol - something that I am itching to try. Would the Brutfuner set work with Gamsol? Thanks, Lindsay!
Hi! I couldn’t resist getting this set to try out and compare against my other color pencils. To me, The brut macarons feel like they are slightly less pigmented (20%?) compared to Holbein’s and Derwent lightfast. But they are very good at this price. I’ll definitely keep them. Thanks for this great thorough review :)
Hey Lindsay. Is it normal for the mimik watercolor brushes to shed alot of hair when you first use them? I loved trying them out finally last night but was shocked and very concerned with how many hairs that shredded ( I noticed some others were saying they had same experienced in the reviews). I've never experienced a brush do that before and concerned if I should return them before it's too late or not. I ended up buying them from Amazon after the whole Jerry's incident. I couldn't pass up how good the price was at the time and was in desperate need of more sizes of brushes😆. Btw those color pencils are beautiful, I love how indepth you do your reviews and comparisons. It's a rare find and I appreciate it.
I've never had that happen. I'd return them. I bought some sets as gifts for Christmas, now I'm worried! I got mine at Jerry's tho. The amazon ones should also come from Jerry's tho. That is not normal. I've never had one shed.
@@thefrugalcrafter Yes it is the same creative mark brand. I would send a pic of how much it shed but not sure where I would send it to or of you have an email to send it to, but after I kind of got what was shedding out it worked well and I didn't notice it shed more but I didn't use it too much to know of it's going to keep shedding or not. I was really loving the brushes they remind me so much of the couple black velvet brushes that I love so much. :(
Do you mean of new vs old holbein or brutfuner vs holbein? In either case, no 😆 I don't expect pastels (or neon) to be lightfast in any brand except Derwent lightfast or luminance so I don't worry about it. I'd love any info tho#
@@thefrugalcrafter True. I forgot pastels are not lightfast. Any time a comparison is made between Holbein and other cheaper pencils, Holbein counters with the toxicity issue. :)
I just bought these the other day. Did you happen to see Lachri Fine Art review of the Holbein? Since she sells her artwork she needs to know about the lightfastness. When she tried to get a clear answer from the Holbein rep they mislead, lied, jerked her around then blew her off. The more she tried to get a straight answer the more vague the Holbein rep got, saying their means of testing was “proprietary”. Then stopped responding to her. So then she decided to renew her membership to some art society (can’t remember the name) who always do their own testing on all the products. So she checked with them. Turns out just about every pencil that had a higher star rating was fugitive. They charge a huge price for an inferior product then lie to professional artists who really need a clear honest answer about it. I’m not a professional artist but just based on the way Holbein treated her I don’t feel like buying anymore of their products.
Do you have the link to the video? I would love to hear more about this. For a company to charge a hefty price for pencil that isn't what it's advertised as...is disrespectful to consumers.
I saw that! Crazy! Also I trust ASTM as it is standard and independent. If I need lightfast pencils I use my derwent lightfast. If I'm messing around I use the cheapies that preform. I also find it off that some Japanese art supplies like holbein and copic as so expensive! Japan has no inflation yet the prices jump up! Kuretake and tombow can reasonably price quality products. Holbein watercolors used to be a steal and now they are crazy high. So weird.
@@thefrugalcrafter Yes I really like their gouache. I had bought a set of Arteza’s then saw Mind of Watercolor do a comparison of cheap versus artist quality and one of the comparisons was Holbein. I thought they were beautiful. I’m not as picky as she is about lightfastness but I don’t sell my work! I just don’t like the dishonesty toward someone who needed to know that crucial info then leave’s her hanging entirely. And charge almost as much as luminance. I bet they lose sales because of it.
@@spillhorchata755 Here is the link. Sometimes my links get deleted tho so if it’s gone when you read this just do a search for her channel Lachri Fine Art and look thru her videos. She’s the one who did the artwork on the cover of the Derwent Inktense blocks and pencils. ua-cam.com/video/BZ-Vzx-hnBg/v-deo.html
@@thefrugalcrafter the price hikes are generally on the Japanese government than the companies themselves, though there’s a very different professional environment over there. Don’t expect the same behavior as you would a western company, and the way they answered her is very typical. If there’s demand in other markets, they will hike prices to keep prices low at home. They’re required by law to serve japan first, rather than other countries. So if there’s a big demand, they raise prices, to keep people from wanting them. Actually, come to think of it, this is how the Disney company is currently dealing with their parks.
I got mine from Anstel on Aliexpress too. I just love them and also love softer pencils. I have not stopped using them since I got them. I also like the plastic holder and don't need to use a case and they are better than the lift out with the elastic container. They snap back in and hold. I take them out when I use my Prismas or square Brutfuner just in case I want to grab one. They are so smooth and creamy and I'm totally impressed. I really love them and the squares for Grayscale, but I would love to have another oil set for Grayscale.I don't care for Polys because I don't like the feel of the pencils. Are there any Derwent that are oil based that you think I would like the feel of since I am a fan of Prisma? I love the Macarons because I agree they feel closer to Prisma. Finally, do you think that the 180 round Brutfuner feels the same as the Macarons? Wouldn't it be great to have a big set of pencils that feel like the Macarons but in a variety of colours? FYI, I just ordered the metallic set of Brutfuner from Aliexpress yet they are not on Amazon or shown on the Brutfuner site, so not sure why Aliexpress has them. Have you seen them? I haven't received them yet and after getting the Macarons, I'm curious to try the metallic set. Maybe you can test those out? They are a set of 12 and are only about four dollars and change on Aliexpress.
Have you ever tried the kalour pencils? How do they compare? Thanks for any information. I really appreciate your videos. I love your jellyfish paintings. Thank you so much for sharing. 😊

The jellyfish makes me gasps!! so breathtakingly beautiful
Found it this morning on Amazon for $12.95 a pad.
Have you tried Pablo? I've tried Prismacolor but havnt loved them
I love my Prismas but find myself using my Arteza ones more and more because I know that I can't afford to replace the Prismas (I have the 72 set which I got really lucky with and found on sale and would love the full set but I am unable to work due to disability so they are well out of my price range 😢).

I am so glad you like them!
Thanks for your honest reviews. As a beginner colorist it’s really great to see budget pencils that work well to learn with . Love your artwork.
Thanks!
It’s hard to resist when you give such a helpful review and I have been wanting to try the Holbein pencils for so long. Stay warm up there
It's -4 ferinheight now!
soooo pretty.
If it's pushing out the back put a layer of glue on the back. It will keep it in.
I'm so glad you said they work with prisma, I need something in the pastel to use with my prisma soft core
They do look lovely and so is your artwork! It would be interesting to know how they compare to the Castle Arts pastel set. I bought that one but I’m not sure I like it. I have to try them on different paper. They look suspiciously similar and are probably also copying the Holbein design.
I haven't tried them so I can't say how they compare.
Another stellar review Lindsay. I ordered this set last week and expecting it to arrive before the end of the month. Looking forward to playing with them on some black paper.
Have fun!
Thanks for your review. Your Macarons are gorgeous and got my mind saying want, want, want those pencils.
Great review, Lindsay! These pencils look fantastic! I love your black & white paper comparison. The colors are GORGEOUS!! Tfs.
I got the Pastelow pastel set, which is almost identical in colour, although of course not in quality, to the Holbeins. And I'm only using them in colouring books, so I don't need a $150 set of pastel coloured pencils for that. This set looks really beautiful, too.
I have these. Theyre quite nice i was impressed. Although not lightfast or at least there isn't info on that they're soft and later and blend nicely
Been waiting for this review! Thank you for posting it.
Let me know what you think! I didn't know they had more than one!
Have a safe trip!
Was it cotton rag paper ??? I love their paper !!! I thought they went under since I hadn’t seen them in so long
@@Xanderful209
I don't think so. It doesn't say cotton on the cover and I think if it was they would say so.
@@ChristinaTodd1970 no problem :D by any chance do you have a link ?
I'm glad I ordered mine before you reviewed them because they'll probably sell out in 3....2....1.... HEHEHE!! I can't wait to get them. Thanks for the in-depth review, as always.
You know a couple of viewers asked for a link so they could buy them before the review 😆
I've been on a pastel colors kick lately, so might have to give in soon to try these out. Thank you for this video!
Im curious too!
Luckily my want monster is cheap because I never wanted Holbein at that price 😆
@@thefrugalcrafter Well, I wanted, but I was too cheap to buy them - especially because I don’t use them frequently enough to warrant that kind of outlay!
Lindsey always watch your videos I think they're very interesting I actually been able to find some of these items and I've been able to purchase some I just wanted to say you and artist Jean Bush have been very helpful to me thank you
Thanks!
Would be nice to see how these compare to the Castle Art pastel set!
I don't have those but I bet a coloring book channel as compared them.
love the Macaron paintings! happy colours
Thanks@TheFrugakCrafter...Adding these to my list.
It’s nice to use the squares and then fill in the gaps with the 520
Wow! We're they new or used? Who cares for that price!
Im glad you like them!
Thank you Lyndsey bless you , fabulous indepth review , learn so much saving money for grandchildren to expand their creativity :)
thank you for this review! i love my macarons and this is also the first time that i ordered a backup set. it was only 13 euros in another shop, so i just couldn't say no.
Sweet!
Cost was less than $20 for 50.
note. shipping time was fine and pencils arrived well wrapped in bubble wrap.
Thank you! 😊 I had already ordered mine but def plan to compare to my Holbeins too. I'm like you. I prefer to smoosh those prismacolor pencils so I compare a lot to what I love.
You did a great job with the colours
Another awesome review, thank you Lindsey. 👌
Take care
I heard they got sold
Thanks so much for this video. I just purchased a set. Can’t wait for them to come and add to my prismacolors.
I purchased mine through this exact seller on the first of January and it's set to be delivered on the 28th. Oooof but also so excited!
Great review Lindsay!

@@thefrugalcrafter for sure!
Wow, good deal!
Thanks Lindsay. Great review
You did get a deal on the Company Paper. Amazon has it right now for almost $29 for the pad. Thank you for the review.
Yikes! I'll grab another pad if I see it at that price. It's lovely but I don't think I'd pay $29!
I wouldn't either. I like deals like you.
Awesome review today watching you today from Sioux Falls South Dakota
Great video! I am new to colored pencils, and want to start small (not invest a lot of money) until I determine if I like colored pencils. Thanks again!
You're welcome. This might not be the best starter set because you will want some darker shades as well. Check out my review of the brutfuner square pencils. I think that would be a better starter set.
@@thefrugalcrafter Oh, I see! I am looking for a budget set to use with Gamsol - something that I am itching to try. Would the Brutfuner set work with Gamsol? Thanks, Lindsay!
@@pattyh2410 yes, most sets will.
Very accurate on black for sure!
Do you know about the lightfastness comparison and the toxicity comparison?
Do you mean of new vs old holbein or brutfuner vs holbein? In either case, no 😆
I don't expect pastels (or neon) to be lightfast in any brand except Derwent lightfast or luminance so I don't worry about it. I'd love any info tho#
@@thefrugalcrafter True. I forgot pastels are not lightfast. Any time a comparison is made between Holbein and other cheaper pencils, Holbein counters with the toxicity issue. :)
I received a set today - love them
I caved! I ordered a set! Thanks for the review and comparison.
Enjoy!

"Nobody wants to buy supplies that they don't need...." I buy stuff I don't need almost every single day 🤣🤣🤣 But I HAVE to have them 😆
I got mine from Anstel on Aliexpress too.
I bet you would like Derwent lightfast.
