Pamela, I would love for you to do a video on how to use oil pencils since it's different than using wax based pencils. I know it's always said that you must use many light layers, but how does that actually work in coloring rather than swatching? And, how do you transition from one color to another, even when they're in the same color family and close to each other. So far, the oil pencils I've used don't blend like Prismas in those color transitions so I'm trying to figure out exactly how to make oil pencils work. Thanks for considering this! I hope the request makes sense.
I use oil based coloring pencils and it's like she said ...basically let's say you want to make trasition between yellow to red. You can actually skip the midtone (orange) like wax based coloring pencils and put a light layer of yellow first and use the red over the the yellow in light layer and repeat a few times until you reach your desired saturation. I put at least 10 layers on the paper. Press the yellow and the red a bit harder at the ends and voila you have your gradient.
Pamela, I have not been able to swatch these pencils because I had no idea how I could put them in proper color family order until I watched their review done by Lindsay, the Frugal Crafter. When she held up her swatch sheet for these pencils I was able to freeze the video and see the numbers that she put on the swatch sheet that came with the pencils so clearly that I was able to put them on the sheet that came with my newly purchased Brutfuner square pencils. What a blessing. Just think, if every reviewer would do the same on the Budget Pencil sheets that they get with the pencils they are reviewing, beginners like me would all be able to copy the numbers or color names on their sheets and arrange all their pencils in proper family color order, too. How would they know which sets people need help with? Ask their viewers to tell them which sets they have and need help with. I for one, would be very grateful. I have the 120 set of the Castle Arts Pencils and have no idea how to arrange them. So you think any reviewers would be willing to help with this? Thanks! Dee
I’ve put several of these budget sets into color family order and have videos specifically for that. I’ve done this Brutfuner set, the Markarts, and the original Starjoy, I also hate the charts available in my Etsy store making it much easier for everyone, especially beginners.
My opinion with polychromos and luminance and other expensive pencils are if your not selling your artwork and just using the pencils for a hobby and coloring and don’t need them to be lightfast then why spend the money when they’re so many other budget pencils like these ones just my thought lol
Hi Jessica! My exact thoughts too. And, why would we want to miss out on all these beautiful colors that don't come in some of the artist-grade sets?? I am so thankful for budget-friendly art supplies. Happy Coloring!
Yeah really!! It does seem a little over the top + extravagant. I’m actually considering selling my high-enders!! There are many low-budget pencils I love, containing similar colors! 💗
After the 2020 I had, having Covid and still living with terrible long-term side effects, knowing ppl who have died...If I can get something I want why shouldn’t I? I have the square brutfuners and really liked them, I even purchased a spare set. Then I got my 120 Polychromos set. There’s no comparison. Using my Poly’s is absolute joy!! You only live once. Make it as good as you can. For me that’s owning/using beautiful pencils.
@@KitKatToeBeans i see both sides of this. On the one hand, I don't really NEED to have artist-grade pencils for my day-to-day sketching, drawing, coloring needs.Stuff like that doesn't have to be archival, it doesn't need to be deeply pigmented, it doesn't need to be top of the line. I have a set of Shuttle Art 174 black barrel pencils and a set of Crayolas, as well as Marco Renoir and Schpirrer Farben (both 72) for my ventures into oil based pencils, and Anna Valacci watercolor pencils that I bought on the recommendation of a friend because I wanted to try that medium and they're inexpensive and beautiful pencils. Those suit my needs just fine for day-to-day stuff. On the other hand, I absolutely adore my Prismacolors, and I sincerely love Luminance, and I want to try Derwent Inktense and the Albrecht Durer Watercolor pencils. I would like to get some Polychromos, even though I don't really love oil-based pencils, just to see what the fuss is about. I enjoy working with good products. And when I'm working on something that I intend to keep, be it a drawing for a friend, or a picture to frame and hang, I need to use archival products. If it makes you happy and you can afford it, I say buy the best you can afford. It's a whole different experience using good products. On the other hand, not being able to afford $500 Holbeins should not deter anyone from making art, because I've seen some amazing results with Crayolas. At the end of the day nobody HAS TO have expensive pencils, especially if we're using them in coloring books. But if it's not taking food off the table or hurting anyone and it makes you happy, why not? Just don't rub it in anyone's nose. And on the other side, don't judge people for spending their money the way they want to spend it. There are bigger issues in the world to worry about. I feel like we should be choosing our battles more wisely than whether or not someone uses Derwent vs. Brutfuner lol.
I do agree, but see both sides. People always ask 'what's the best pencils to get' and honestly, no one who is just wanting to colour in colouring books needs the 'best' pencils. Polys, for example, will out-perform most other brands, but not many people who use them in colouring books will ever push them to what they're actually capable of. That said, nice pencils make a lot of people very happy and if they can afford to buy them, they may as well have them and enjoy them.
Hi Sarah! I'm so glad you got them. They aren't available on the Amazon right now. They sold out so quickly. The 180 set is available though. Which ones do you have?
I have my third set of these pencils coming in the mail..I'm still trying others just to see how I like them, but so far these are my go to pencils, they're so comfortable to me and I can really get lost in a coloring page with them..I haven't had that with any other pencils yet.. but still looking
I got the Brutfuners on sale before Christmas for $25, plus the Jarlink Sharpener.... $46 total..... vs big bucks for the polychromos... no brainer! Nice review, thanks!
I had NO intention of buying another set of pencils but after watching this and seeing the amazing colors along with the fact I will probably never be able to afford a large FC Polychromos set. I figured if they are in stock at Amazon I’ll buy them.....well they were in stock lol! Thanks for the review!!! Hadassah!
I got the 160 set about 2 weeks ago and I love them so far! I only have the 36 Polychromos set with 10 or so open stock pencils. So I would definitely be grateful for a video of you using both on a colouring page 😊 i might just get the 120 set to go with the Marco pastel pencils that arrived yesterday 🙊
I’m working with thes in Kanoko Egusa’s book and they are incredible, I started with Prismacolor and Holbein and now I’m finding these work really well, the paper is fairly smooth they just glide over this paper, so glad I watched this video again.
I feel much like you about my Polychromos. In fact, the other day I used my Guang hui pencils for the first time since forever, and I was surprised at how I enjoyed them! We're all different aren't we!
Hi, again, these just became avaiable here in Canada, and I just ordered a set, I was very impressed with your videos on them. I am looking very forward to receiving them. Thank you so much for doing such extensive video coverage of them. ... Gave the vid a like.
That’s so exciting! I’m so glad they are now available in Canada! I will have to let those in my Facebook group know this. Thank you for sharing with me. You were going to love these pencils and I’m so glad you enjoyed my video. Happy coloring!
This is a good tutorial for finding color pencils that are compatible to Polychromos. Thank you. I just might check them out. I can see why you want to color with more color variety in tones. It makes a big difference. 🙂 I just need to know what pencils that are metallic and neon I can use that are compatible?
Pamela, you enabled me with these square pencils. I’ve been thinking about these pencils myself. Square. Seems so interesting + maybe even easier on the hand. They are quite beautiful! I went through the link + ordered. They say by tomorrow. Until then, I shall be on the wings of anticipation!! 😂 LOL ❤️
You will have to let me know what you think about them when you receive them. Thank you so much for using my links as it helps my channel out so much. Happy Coloring!
Oh I'm so glad you love them. They are wonderful! I wonder how that set differs from these. I wanted the square ones. It seems I am going to have to get my hands on the other sets because so many of you want to see comparison reviews on the several different sets available in these pencils. Happy Coloring!
I've had the 160 brutfuner for quite a while. Its one of my favorite colored pencils and I have the polychromos and the primsmacolors..I also like the Schpirerr Farben very much. They are a great budget oil based in my opinion.
Hello Pamela I really love your videos ! 🥰 I have already the 180 New brutfuner set and I love them but i would know if the brutfuner square 120 set have the same tones than the 180?! Thank you so much for asking ! Many kisses !😘
We all say, oh my goodness! Love these. Bought them for the plastic suitcase. 160’s about a year ago. They are about my number 3 or 4. Watched a guy do an amazing portrait with them. They are before my polychromos. Am trying your paper too! Order’s in.
I am so glad you're enjoying them. I would love to see the portrait that was done with them if it's on UA-cam. Do you happen to have a link to that video? I have been coloring with these and absolutely love them.
Oh I know you will love them. I just finally sat down to actually color with them. I think I need to make another video now. They are laying beautifully and I love the colors!
Hi Pamela I just ordered 2 btsky pencils cases from Amazon. I is the 200 set for my brutfuner 180's and the other one is 72 for my crayola escape. Thank for telling everyone about these cases.
"My thoughts on these pencils - go get them!" Did I not implore you to hate on these???? LOL!!!! They are on the way - so now you got me on these AND the Arteza!! A couple notches in your belt - ROFL!!!!!
I know what you mean! I recently picked up a set of 120 Polychromos but to be honest, I really like my scpirrer farben oil pencils a bit better. Now I’m thinking I need to get the Brutfuner! I will wait for you to compare the larger set of the Brutfuner round pencils (if you decide to do it) before I decide. I do love my prismacolors for the same reason you do! And I do like my Crayolas! Thank you for all you do for all of us!!
Hi Mary, I am thinking it may be a good idea for me to do a comparison video with the Schpirerr Farben pencils and the Brutfuners. Let me know what you think.
Love this video! Thank you for putting it together, I am going to try these and I am excited to get them, I will use your amazon link. As a side note, I noticed in the video you were referring to colors as shades, hue is a more appropriate term. In painting, and photography, shade means to add black to a color and adding white is called tinting. So a hue can have varying levels of tint and shade. I figured out what you meant but it was super confusing! :D
I think it’s funny that so many people think they are missing pencils when they open their tin up. Right in the Amazon listing there is a picture showing that they shift and to roll them to fill the spot. It’s literally right in the Amazon listing for people to know and be aware.
I bought these in Oct because they were squares & SO very pretty. I thought that even IF I did not like them I could display them. AH well I did love them especially, as Pam said to extend the green palette of my Polychromos with these. When I bought them they were only 18.99 & when I went back for another set (a week later) they were already 24.99... So grab these lovelies before they go up in Price again...!
Another great video. I unboxed mine as I watched your video. They are a tad smelly so I’ll leave them to air out for a while. After I watched your video, I looked for swatch charts. Apparently the round ones are numbered differently. 😊
I have the 180 black barrel set. They are highly pigmented with names and number written in English. The names and the barrel tips do not match the colour. Hence, the need in for swatching. Like the Brutfuner square pencils, the black barrels perform very well.
I first purchased a set of Soucolor pencils back when the Hero pencils were popular. The Soucolor and Heroes were the same pencils, just marketed by different sellers. I have always liked the Hero/Soucolor pencils, a lot. Recently, I purchased a set of Kalour pencils, after seeing a favorable review on colortube, and liking the fact that it came in a 180 set. I liked them, and wanted a back up set. The Kalours were no longer available, but Soucolor had a 180 set which appeared to be the same. I ordered the Soucolor, and they are the same pencils. Apparently the Brutfuner pencils are the same - I will not order theirc180 set, as I don't need 3 of the same pencils, but I saw one Amazon reviewer who owned both Soucolor and Brutfuner, and stated they are exactly the same. I'm happy to see these pencils getting some positive attention, as they are excellent pencils for the price! In fact, I find myself reaching for my Soucolors more frequently than my Polys. Thanks for the informative videos!
These have easily become my favorite pencil, over Castle art, Arteza, and the 240 Kalour set..I've ordered a second set already..I put them together with the Brufuner Macaron set to get more colors..they make me question getting prismacolor pencils quite a bit.. do you think you would ever do a color matching with these and prismacolor. Not Quality because I know they're just different pencils but as far as color if they have any of the same colors or different colors..just a thought.. I can tell you really like these pencils with the amount of videos you made for them hehe
Oh boy...Now I REALLY WANT THESE lol..ughhhh ...Allll the perty colors! I really LOVE LOVE Polychromos and I have the 60 set.. I have been trying to find a pencil that I could buy (sometime) that aren't expensive, but are oil and actually GOOD for more colors. These are gorgeous! great review!
If you buy them, I really think you will love them. I went with the 60 set of Polychromos for the last 5 years until I finally got the 120 set. I still pull out my budget-friendly oil-based pencils instead most of the time. I plan on using this set with my Polychromos because it really adds to the color selection.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I bought the Brutfuner last night :) I am so so excited...I can't wait to get them! Thank you so much!! I am so excited to see you color a picture using them!!
You need different paper for Polychromos than for cheaper pencils. They work brilliantly on hot press watercolour paper or Pastelmat. That is what the artists on UA-cam use which is why they love them. You can do so many layers and blend with oms . I do both colouring and my own art and I prefer wax based for colouring. I may buy these pencils to have a play though. Expensive here in Australia though like all supplies.
Hello, I just found your channel and I am hooked. I have watched all of your colored pencils except for the ones with the coloring books.Idid just purchase the Brutfuner 120's. I do prefer the oil based pencil but, I like a harder lead. Is there one? Is it possible? Again, I really enjoy watching, I subscribed. Keep up the good work. Alicia
You just saved me 180.00!! I want to be a good colorist and am not concerned with light fastness so I'm thrilled with your reaction. I purchased these and they come Sunday, and now I can't wait, Thank you so much for the review. :D
I love that I saved you so much money. That makes me happy. Our money is valuable and the less we need to spend on the more expensive supplies, the more budget-friendly supplies we can have. This makes it all that much more fun. You will love them. You will have to get back to me after you receive them and let me know what you think of them. Happy Coloring!
Hello Pamela, I recently started coloring and I bought the 180 set Brutfurner pencils. Did you ever categorize/ swatch these out? I would like to see that video Thank you for your videos they have been very helpful🙂
Hi Jodi! Welcome to this wonderful hobby and my channel. I did put all the colors into color family order in a video. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/g9clMmS7rFE/v-deo.html I also have my swatch already filled out with all the colors swatched, color names, and translated names from Chinese to English available in my Etsy store here: etsy.me/3tfn4zW I do also have other videos using the Brutfuner colored pencils as well as some comparison videos. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils thank you so much, I think my hardest thing is what 3 colors compliment one another what colors will make a flower let’s say .,, Pop
I have the 180 watercolour set and got them before they became popular...I was made to feel quite inferior in a few colour channels...funny how they’ve caught on now...🤣🥰
These seem so similar to a set I bought a few years ago except they were hexagonally shaped. Colors seem the same. What did you think about the shedding? Are the leads centered in the cases?
@@PamelasPassionforPencils It looks interesting. I don't have prisma or polys, I can't afford them. But I have some castle arts that I like and am looking forward to seeing how they compare .
@@PamelasPassionforPencils Well, oops. I didn't get the square ones, I got the round ones. They're arriving tomorrow. I understand they're quite different from the square ones, so won't be able to compare. On the plus side, peeps say they're water soluble.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils hey, guess what? The square ones are finally back in stock. I got them :D I think the price went up a bit, not surprising. I love the rounds so I know I'll love the squares.
Thanks for the review; I may have to try these myself now. As for pronunciation ..I'm thinking it may sound like BrootFooner. My guess is that whatever one "u" sounds like, the 2nd will sound the same.
Those are much different pencils. I wouldn’t say you “need” them, but they’re nice to have. You can find lots of light colors in this full set of square Brutfuner or many other full sets.
I love these!!!! The Dahle is a champ with them also. HELP!!!! I keep getting a flat top on my pencils when I sharpen them in the Dahle, what am I doing wrong? Thanks 💖💎🐧
Over 1 year ago I purchased the 120 round set, I like them a lot. They only have numbers on the barrel. They have gained in popularity recently. So I do not know if the square ones have any different colors.
You stated in this video that you had found a few oil pencils that you liked better than the polychromos. Can you tell me which ones you prefer. I want to invest in some oil based pencils so I can learn which type I prefer but the polychromos are so expensive. I'd love to find a more reasonably priced alternative that was somewhat comparable.
I LOVE the square Brutfuner (I think its pronounced "brootfooner"?) pencils - the colors and matte finish are gorgeous and they color beautifully. I don't think the odor is that bad. I think they are made with cedar, so that might account for stronger smell, and it does tone down after a bit. I got another set so that I have one for use and one for pretty (and backup). A video comparing them to the other Brutfuner sets would be great. They look different and it looks like the numbers and colors don't match, but I can't tell otherwise if they are same because I don't have the other sets (yet).
I like these, but I couldn't compare them to Polys - instead I compared them to SF pencils. They are really great, but I've noticed a huge difference between the 120 square versus the larger 180 circular ones.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I would say they are pretty close. They might even be a touch creamier. However, the construction and wood are a lot cheaper on these than the SF ones - I noticed that immediately while sharpening.
I just received mine today and maybe I've got the wrong formula mine feel like a prisma colored pencil so I'm wondering if I get the other set they would be like the polychromos
I am really not sure. I don't see how they would be the wrong set. Does the tin look the same as in my video? They definitely don't feel like the Prismacolor pencils to me. To me, these feel like the Polychromos more closely than the 180 set.
I love these pencils. I have the 160 set and took all morning to put them in my own colour order 🤣🙈 I also love btsky pencil case and have loads of them. I am not into 3 per slot unless it's for pens.
Hello.. The reason people "find" an empty slot for a missing pencils is that they are having a "wave" of touching pencils laying on the plastic tray, the simplist way to fix this is to press gentley on the "wave" to push the pincels in the slots properly and an extra pencil will pop up, then you can either grab and move that pencil to the empty slot, or re-arrange the pencils in the correct order.. Not to annoy or trigger you, but it was kinda irritating while waiting for you to do that, thought you would have known that, I could see the wave very visible on the secend tray where the pencils are crammed to the right, with no visible gaps, was wondering why doesnt she push down on the wave to find the hidden extra pencil? The thing is, there should be a visible thin black gap of black plastic showing between each two pencils, if you see the pencils touching and no visible tiny gap between them, the plastic tray not showing between them, you found the hidden pencil wave floating on the tray. This should be common knowledge to all colour pencil lovers. There is no missing pencils, just a group of pencils squeezed to one side in a wave which give the impression of a missing pencil. Hope this helps. :^) Thank you. Nice video. Edit: Got it!! You'vd touched the wave @04:39, it reacted to your right hand touch and shifted further right! :^D
I have been using Brutfuners for at least 2 years, both oily and watercolor. I got them via Aliexpress, so I don't know if they are the same. Recently I bought a second set of the oily ones. I had swatched my first set, and put them in color order. When I got my second set I had to do everything from the beginning. The previous swatch-chart did not match the new pens. It seems like the pencils are randomly numbered in each set. I only want to save your time. Otherwise I like them very much. Recommend for colorists.
Well,my goal is to achieve the Prismas of 150 set and the 180 Brutfuner set, altogether with the fineliner Micron,Faber Castell fineliner set,two pencil cases for each one 😌😌😌 but I don't know how far is gonna get to have those😣😣😣
If you get Google translate on your phone, and use the camera attachment and set it to translate Chinese to English, it should translate those color names into English for you.
Thank you for the helpful hint! This is good to know. The color names have been translated by someone in my Facebook group and are available in the files section.

@@PamelasPassionforPencils On my Amazon, the 180 set does have new packaging and it doesn't say watercolour on the front but in the photographs included it still says water-soluble lead and a photo of dry colouring and a painted one. It's my birthday in March so I'll get my mum to buy them for me.
The black ones are different in feeling and the leaads are thicker, but both 180 sets have the exact same colors. The blsck ones are better, the quality is higher and they are more pigmented
Hmmm... another oil based pencil set. The scent on that oil must really be something! With that name, I would think they would be German, not Chinese! 🤗
Just because a brand calls them oily, doesn't mean they're an oil based pencil. There's still a significant amount of wax in these if you contact the company. It's vegatable oil and wax, which is how they stay cheap.
Every pencil has wax and oil. Whether that we an oil based or wax based pencil is dependent upon the ratio or wax or oil. These definitely lay down like an oil based pencil. They layer beautifully.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils which is exactly why this mostly wax based pencil is misleading as hell. It doesn't have the oil ratios of say, polychromos or Holbein.

I got my 1 st set around 2 weeks ago. I loved them so much I ordered another set because I never want to be without these pencils!
Hi Sarah! I'm so glad you got them. They aren't available on the Amazon right now. They sold out so quickly. The 180 set is available though. Which ones do you have?
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I got the square set. I’ve been thinking about the 180 set and wondering if they are as amazing
I have my third set of these pencils coming in the mail..I'm still trying others just to see how I like them, but so far these are my go to pencils, they're so comfortable to me and I can really get lost in a coloring page with them..I haven't had that with any other pencils yet.. but still looking
Just a heads up - whenever you say just let me know if you would like me to do that, the answer is always YES from me!! LOL!!!
🤣🤣🤣
I got the Brutfuners on sale before Christmas for $25, plus the Jarlink Sharpener.... $46 total..... vs big bucks for the polychromos... no brainer! Nice review, thanks!
I ordered these pencils and they will be here today! So I'm watching you're video to learn more! Love your videos!
How Exciting! Enjoy them.
Second that request!
I’m working with thes in Kanoko Egusa’s book and they are incredible, I started with Prismacolor and Holbein and now I’m finding these work really well, the paper is fairly smooth they just glide over this paper, so glad I watched this video again.
These are on the way! I to, bought them because they are square. Colors look lovely. Thanks for sharing. I always love a good leaf blending video.
I love the BTSKY pencil organizers... and the one slot per pencil is my favorite as well!
I bought these a few months ago and I love them.
I was just thinking the other day about how much I love my pencil s! These are beautiful!
I got my 160 set this past week, I'm really enjoying the range of colours and how well they lay down for such cheap pencils!
Oh I'm so glad you love them. They are wonderful! I wonder how that set differs from these. I wanted the square ones. It seems I am going to have to get my hands on the other sets because so many of you want to see comparison reviews on the several different sets available in these pencils. Happy Coloring!
"I was not going to purchase any more budget pencils, and I really had no interest in these...." Story of my life lol.
@@darklingpixie9239 oh I know, right?? 😫
@@PamelasPassionforPencils the struggle is real.
I've had the 160 brutfuner for quite a while. Its one of my favorite colored pencils and I have the polychromos and the primsmacolors..I also like the Schpirerr Farben very much. They are a great budget oil based in my opinion.
So glad you like them. I got mine in late December and love them.
Hello Pamela
I really love your videos ! 🥰
I have already the 180 New brutfuner set and I love them but i would know if the brutfuner square 120 set have the same tones than the 180?!
Thank you so much for asking ! Many kisses !😘
I'm dying to know how the round vs square feel and lay down
We all say, oh my goodness!
I have the 180 round ones and I'm loving them so far.
That's the set I'm looking at. Love the look
Of the round with the dipped ends😊
Ok I literally buy EVERYTHING you review favorably! My set should arrive tomorrow!! Lol!
Thanks for this video! I just bought this set for myself for Mother’s Day. 😊💖
Hope you enjoy them! Happy Mother's Day!
"My thoughts on these pencils - go get them!" Did I not implore you to hate on these???? LOL!!!! They are on the way - so now you got me on these AND the Arteza!! A couple notches in your belt - ROFL!!!!!
Yep, me too!
Oh you make me laugh all the time!!! You will love them!
@@PamelasPassionforPencils That’s a GREAT idea! Since you have both, it won’t cost you any money! 👍
Marco Renoir also has a 24 set of square pastels and 24 set of regular pencils which are square. I LOVE them! Got on Aliexpress!
Derwent Chinese White is hailed to be the best white 👍🏻
Great review! I’m going to get the 180 set. I hope they are as good as these. So excited! Thank you!
I’m not sure. I’ve not used those at all. I only have these so far but after using these I am curious about the 180 set and how they compare.
So, which one is better ? I think Brutfuner ,funer means who she use it will get more fun in coloring, your voice is magnetic !
When I bought them they were only 18.99 & when I went back for another set (a week later) they were
already 24.99...
So grab these lovelies before they go up in Price again...!
Another great video. I unboxed mine as I watched your video. They are a tad smelly so I’ll leave them to air out for a while. After I watched your video, I looked for swatch charts. Apparently the round ones are numbered differently. 😊
Yes they do have a smell. I left mine sitting open for 24 hours and they seem fine now. Enjoy them!
Got mine! Love them! Thank you for sharing 🦋
You are so welcome!
I have the 180 black barrel set. They are highly pigmented with names and number written in English. The names and the barrel tips do not match the colour. Hence, the need in for swatching. Like the Brutfuner square pencils, the black barrels perform very well.
I got this set for my birthday in March this year they are really nice
I have got the round 160 set with only numbers on. Love all the colours
I’m so glad you love them! Happy coloring!
I have the square pencils as well and also the 180 set in the full colored barrel version (no black barrel) which I absolutely love.
Are they the same pencils? Can you please you tell a difference?
I heard that the black barreled ones lay down more nicely than the full color barrels. Anyone have an opinion on that??
You need different paper for Polychromos than for cheaper pencils. They work brilliantly on hot press watercolour paper or Pastelmat. That is what the artists on UA-cam use which is why they love them. You can do so many layers and blend with oms . I do both colouring and my own art and I prefer wax based for colouring. I may buy these pencils to have a play though. Expensive here in Australia though like all supplies.
I hear you.
The price we pay for being geographically so isolated.
what kind of sharpener do you need for the brutfuner?
Hello, I just found your channel and I am hooked. I have watched all of your colored pencils except for the ones with the coloring books.Idid just purchase the Brutfuner 120's. I do prefer the oil based pencil but, I like a harder lead. Is there one? Is it possible? Again, I really enjoy watching, I subscribed. Keep up the good work. Alicia
You just saved me 180.00!! I want to be a good colorist and am not concerned with light fastness so I'm thrilled with your reaction. I purchased these and they come Sunday,
and now I can't wait, Thank you so much for the review.

I would like to see that video
Thank you for your videos they have been very helpful🙂
@@PamelasPassionforPencils thank you so much, I think my hardest thing is what 3 colors compliment one another what colors will make a flower let’s say .,, Pop
@@jodisny00 I have a video coming up that shows you exactly how to do that.
The leads seem as though they are centered on all the pencils I've taken out and looked at.
I love your intro music! Brutfuner looks like a German word, so I pronounce it brootfooner.
Thank you!
Would you suggest that we buy the new set too?
I first bought 120 square ones fell in love with them just bought 180 set round ones too
How do the two sets compare? I'm looking at the 180 set as well
I just bought these - they haven't arrived yet. It'll be interesting to see what you think of them.

I believe that is the correct pronunciation.
So I just order these. Do they include the colors from the Macaron set or would I need those also?
Those are much different pencils. I wouldn’t say you “need” them, but they’re nice to have. You can find lots of light colors in this full set of square Brutfuner or many other full sets.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I ordered them 🥴🤪
What is oil based color and wax ?
Did you compare this set of pencils to the koo i nohr polycolor which one is better?
I haven’t done a comparison between those because I don’t have that set.😀
I love these!!!! The Dahle is a champ with them also.
HELP!!!! I keep getting a flat top on my pencils when I sharpen them in the Dahle, what am I doing wrong? Thanks
💖💎🐧
You can adjust how sharp it makes the lead. Turn the silver thing at the back
You should check the pencil names too I had 6 duplicates sent them back and the second set was fine
Over 1 year ago I purchased the 120 round set, I like them a lot. They only have numbers on the barrel. They have gained in popularity recently. So I do not know if the square ones have any different colors.
The 180 round set have the color names in English on the pencil
SO good to know! !!
I have both sets and I love them!
I can't wait to get my 180 set in the mail tomorrow so I can do a comparison video. What is your opinion on them compared to the SF colored Pencils?
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I would say they are pretty close. They might even be a touch creamier. However, the construction and wood are a lot cheaper on these than the SF ones - I noticed that immediately while sharpening.

I have no problems with the Dahle 133. It's a wonderful sharpener.

I have done several videos. I believe I actually did it in this video where I tested them in the Dahle 133.
How do you think these compare to the Schpirerr farben?
Hi Janeen, I am thinking of doing a comparison video. Let me know what you think.
Yes, please!! I would love to see the comparison to that.
I love these pencils. I have the 160 set and took all morning to put them in my own colour order 🤣🙈
I also love btsky pencil case and have loads of them. I am not into 3 per slot unless it's for pens.
Love my BTSKY Pencil cases!
Thank you.
Do these fit in the pencil case?
Yes they do. This is the one I use and love amzn.to/30m3ENr
I was just wondering if those pens were good, thanks for the review.
I love mine. Just have to find two hole sharpener.
Do you not have the sharpener I showed you in the video? It works wonderfully.
Well,my goal is to achieve the Prismas of 150 set and the 180 Brutfuner set, altogether with the fineliner Micron,Faber Castell fineliner set,two pencil cases for each one 😌😌😌 but I don't know how far is gonna get to have those😣😣😣

Becky Lynn bumped it to the top by commenting on it. Let me know if you still can’t find it and I’ll tag you there.

@@PamelasPassionforPencils she mentions your name at 11:50 in but she starts talking about the pencils around 10 min in. She talks about you again just a few min again after that.
There's a 160 set of colouring pencils but the 180 set are watercolour pencils. They don't do a 180 set in normal pencils at the moment.
If you look on Amazon and click on the square one then scroll down it says 2 options click on it it goes to the 180 set round they arent watercolor ones. They have sunflowers on the front
Thanks for the information Maylynn 💕
@@PamelasPassionforPencils On my Amazon, the 180 set does have new packaging and it doesn't say watercolour on the front but in the photographs included it still says water-soluble lead and a photo of dry colouring and a painted one. So the box with the sunflowers are still watercolour. Nothing wrong with that though as they can be used either way. £36.99 in UK, probably just a little more in $. It's my birthday in March so I'll get my mum to buy them for me.
Speaking of the Dahle pencil sharpener...Have you come across any pencil that did NOT work with the Dahle?
Never ever! It works beautifully on every single pencil I have from triangular to round to now square! 😊
Why are those new pencils black and not colorful. Is it the same formula?
Which ones? The 180 set?
The black ones are different in feeling and the leaads are thicker, but both 180 sets have the exact same colors. The blsck ones are better, the quality is higher and they are more pigmented
Hmmm... another oil based pencil set. The scent on that oil must really be something! With that name, I would think they would be German, not Chinese! 🤗
I need color names 🙏
