WTF Happened to TOM GREEN?

- Tom Green has cancer. It is early 2000, and he is about to go under because he would like to educate you on the world of testicular cancer, and if you can see his internal organs while doing so, so be it. And so there he is at 28 years old in a hospital gown, making jokes while medical professionals get ready to chop off one of his nuts. “This is going to fucking suck,” he says. But, if we know anything about him, it’s that nothing is off-limits for Tom Green. It was the ultimate combination of tragedy and comedy; you have a young man in his prime facing death while telling the world's greatest testicle joke. This comedian turned cancer into performance art, which made me believe God might have a twisted sense of humor... kinda like Tom Green himself.
The dude revolutionized a breed of comedy that borders on anarchy, using the boob tube reveal just how wild and crazy the world can be... all you need is a warrior clown poet willing to go beyond the punch line. The comedy stylizing of Tom Green consists of gross-out reality-based chaos with flare from old-school hip hop and energy from punk rock skateboard culture. But are these jokes still funny? Was Tom Green misunderstood and ahead of his time? Was he trying to tell us something about the human condition through tom foolery and disgusting shenanigans? Is this man still out there influencing the masses? So yeah WTF Happened to...TOM GREEN?

Tom Green saved my life. I had testicular cancer at 18 and never would have noticed if it wasn't for his experience.
You would’ve noticed you just don’t think that
Lewis stone was in romance 1930 with greta Garbo
Did you check while masterbaiting?
His living room show was revolutionary. I wish he’d kept it up.
He was one of the innovators of podcasting with that show.
You know he has a podcast/vlog on his channel right?
..dude even reads the comments on his videos
want a living room show, it was a community cable show, filmed in a studio.
@@Montrealien you're thinking of the show he originally did in Ottawa on Rogers community tv. But after all of that, after the MTV show, the Charlie's Angels movies, all of that, he did a show in his living room when he lived in the Hollywood Hills.
@@Montrealien
That was his actual show on MTV. That’s not what they’re referring to.
Tom Green happened to Tom Green.
Exactly.
🤣🤣🤣 facts
he saw some scaery shit in hollywood and bounced lioke a smart guy.
@@hillbillyhank-h9x No he didn't. He got F-listed.
whats f listed?@@titusmccarthy
More importantly, WTF happened to Glenn Humplick and the Slutmobile? 😂
"Road Trip" was a solid hilarious early 2000s teen road trip comedy movie but when he is on screen can be really annoying or really funny depends on your taste in comedy
I put Tom Green in the same category as Wanda Sykes: They're either 100% on-point or 100% awful, with no in-between. Either the jokes land perfectly or they're so far off the mark that you wonder how they could possibly have a career in comedy. Not many comedians can manage that (and keep working).
Lewis stone was in love laughs at Andy hardy 1946 with Mickey Rooney
I still have Tom Green's testicle cancer surgery on VHS, which I taped right off the TV.
It was definitely the Chad.
i got that
Tom Green walked. So Eric Andre could run
I never did think he was funny. I felt sorry for him when he was diagnosed with cancer. The only tf question i have about him is how tf did he land Drew Barrymore
She like most women find funny guys attractive
Lewis stone was in the court ship with Andy hardy 1942 with Mickey Rooney
I have been watching Tom Green since the classic days, he still does live videos on tik tok/instagram and posts to YT as well as doing standup comedy. He now lives on a farm in Canada where he streams live from sometimes.
Oh ok, I just watched the video above so I already knew that...
@@lloydg9383 And now I know your dbag comment can be replied to a simple comment about Tom Green, definitely worth your time and disrespect. And there is some info not in the video from my comment to be fair.
Lewis stone was in night into morning 1951 with ray Miland
"Stealing Harvard" is one of my favorite guilty pleasure comedies.
It was very funny. Underrated
All I remember is”ok I actually smelt your foot on that one”
Lewis stone was in red headed woman 1932 with Chester morris Jean harlow Una markel
I’ve always been a fan of Tom Green since I first saw his show as a 14 year old boy. I feel like I’ve aged with Tom and I’m still a fan of everything he’s done and is doing.
🎶”This is the Tom Green Show, it is my favourite show…and if it was your show I bet you’d like it more”!🎶
Yeah, that was a huge ripoff of Gary Shandling's Show theme.
Look at me daddy I'm a farmer
WUD U LAIK SUM SAASSSAGE ?
Tom Green is still very much alive and well in Canada. He is still a legend. An OG from Canada the world continues to sleep on.
Videos of Tom Green living the van life really helped during the covid years.
He was my sole entertainer during covid
One of his best roles was in “Superstar” in 1999 with Will Ferrell, an actually really hilarious supporting role. When Molly Shannon was singing and he screamed “You suck!” was fucking hysterical😂
The world just wasn't ready for Tom Green...
He was lame after he started bringing dead raccoons and other animals on to shows like the Mike Bulllard show. He was desperate for fame.
One of the best things about his old internet show was that he didn't screen his callers and as a result got a bunch of kids from 4chan calling in to shout memes and troll him. That's probably one of the first instances of meme culture clashing with the mainstream.
Flashbacks of The Tom Green Show and the Co-Star drinking coffee outside the window; epic!
Tom Green was the king of cringe. Pure Genius.
Tom Green is a living legend
My mother is the producer of the original Tom Green Show on CBC. Hearing stories of the enviorment on set, he was never ment for the life he lives.
I recently randomly watched the episode of his show where he takes Monica Lewinski around Ottawa before dragging in the media for a press conference about fabric. It was kind of genius.
...also Organized Rhyme were great and Freddy Got Fingered was amazing to see in the theater. Better days.
Tom is a Canadian treasure, right next to Trailer Park Boys
No.
@@titusmccarthyyes
@@donkeydonk127 Wrong. He sucks.
Lewis stone was in stars in the crowd 1950 with Alan hale sr final movie Joel Mccrea Dean Stockwell
This is the Tom Green Show. It's not the Green Tom Show. This is my favorite show because it is my show. Those were good days.
I loved "Freddy Got..." (2001) back when it first came out. A lot of laughs to be had there and I never understood the hate it got.
He was hilarious in Charlie Angels, Grid & Superstar with Will Ferrell. Funny supporting roles.
Freddy got fingered 😂
Wow, now a days tom green looks exactly like rhe most annoying co worker ive ever had...
Freddie Got Fingered is one of my favorite movies, and I am unashamed.
I love Tom Green. 'Freddy Got Fingered' is a fucking masterpiece of transgressive cinema, imo.
I still follow Tom. His UA-cam channel is great.
tom green was funny for a little while. he does wear out his welcome over time.
Well we still like him today so that's false
He's on the Canadian version of Last One Laughing and he is amazing. If you like his style of comedy, you'll probably like this.
I remember when Freddy got Fingered first came out. Everyone was talking about it as it was so far from what we'd seen up till then.
I follow him on Facebook, he seems to have calmed down alot and likes to spend much of his time in the woods with his horse and dog.
He still does standup shows too
No Filthy Frank, no Eric Andre, and so on without Tom Green breaking the mold. Even no Tom Green without Andy Kaufman. This could be a fun rabbit hole to go down. Feel free to namedrop other comedians throughout history that had to fųçķ expectations up in order for entertainers to get to where we’re at today.
Would love to see a movie starring Nicolas Cage and Tom Green
i always found him to be the goofy, annoying guy in the background that people would say "has that guy left yet?"
Tom is a genius. He was jackass before jackass, and was pod casting out of his house years before everyone. I saw his stand up a few years ago. He killed.
CKY was jackass before jackass
@@jr2904 and tom was doing it before them lol
Tom Green is on Stand up comedy tour, thats what is happening with Tom Green. Look up his tour. Seen his Stand up before, So funny!
How did you miss his Rap Career? Check the OR!
He was at the local butcher store in my home town a couple weekends ago, probably buying sausages to go with his cheese sandwiches... True story... I live south of Ottawa !
I once said to my mother "people should be allowed to be themselves" (i was young!)
She put down her coffee and said "But what if you are an a--hole? Should we just 'let you be yourself? Who pays for that!"
Mom wisdom
Sounds like your Mom is a judgmental asshole. Guess that means she's not allowed to be herself.
RLM kicks ass, the Freddy Got Fingered Re:View is too good
Tom Green deserves a ton of credit for being the only person in the media who treated Monica Lewinsky like a human back in the day.
At least he didn't end up like Andy Dick, who for a while seemed like the other side of the same coin. I remember the skit "I'm Tom Green!" "Im Andy Dick!", where they ran around, just climbing on desks and furniture and being super obnoxious just screaming and claiming to be each other.
Loved him on Celebrity Apprentice
Freddy Got Fingered counts less as a movie, and more as a troll joke
I’ve always loved FGF, and still quote it occasionally. Dumb moments like, “Daddy would you like some sausage? Daddy would you like some sausages?” & “I’m the backwards man, the backwards man, I can walk backwards fast as you can.” could only have been created by someone this weird.
You know you can say Tom green pioneered public pranks and street interviewing.
I survived 6 years of dialysis AND testicular cancer, fight me!
I remember watching the Tom Green. Show back in 1999 when I was like 14 and I became a fan of Tom Green.
His part as the Apple cult leader in space was really brilliant
Freddie Got Fingered on the Criterion Channel this month don't sleep
My first time with testicular cancer was when I was in Airborne school. Had one removed and did chemo. Second time was 14 years later, December 2022. They removed the tumor but left the rest.
The second time was definitely worse. Especially since I was in a different country and they decided to give me some NSAID thats banned in several countries for damaging your white blood cells, instead of giving me medicine that would have actually made me comfortable.
It wasnt until 2 days after the surgery, when I finally got home (after walking there) and took some kratom, that I finally felt good. Felt really good actually.... Greatful I had access to something to relive my suffering because apparently it was more of a concern that I didnt possibly get addicted or something instead of me not suffering... Next time maybe I just bring some damn heroin to the hospital with me when i have to have surgery....
His audience grew up...thats what happened
He grew up with us actually
The 2nd Podfather. He was one of the founding Father's of what wohkd become podcasting. An incredibly smart and forward thinking man.
Joe Budden is the only pod father
I forget about Tom all the time but when I remember him, it's all good memories
I interviewed Glenn Humplick. I got an awesome deep dive into the Tom Green show
That terrible 2001 film Freddy Got Fingered could have destroyed Tom Green's acting career.
Can you do a WTF HAPPENED TO KEVIN JAMES!!!
Tom Green is doing great he has a UA-cam channel
I remember Tom Green. He was huge back in the day. He feel off completely after that strange 'Freddy got fingered' movie.
Thanks for this WTF happened video on him, because i was curious where he went.
Its really awesome movie, i was smoking weed and laughing my ass the whole time
Proud Fellow Canadian! 🍁✊😎👊😎👌😎👍🍁♈
His comedy for me was mostly swings and misses but when he connected with his antics they were grand slams. There was brilliance in there somewhere.
The backwards man, the backwards man...
As mindless and silly as The Tom Green Show was, he was ahead of the curve in enterainment trends which would later materialize into big business (reality pranks, podcasting, streaming video etc). However, he never really seemed to profit off any of them. It goes back to the whole combination of "tragedy and comedy" as referenced in the intro.
HOW do you cover his career without including his hit single “Check the O.R” with Organized Rhyme?!
Y'all I loved Tom Green. He was the 90s. Him and Adam Sandler made sad shit funny.
I loved the ,90s but they got me through the drama and trauma.
He's actually a sad guy. The same dynamic Robin Williams had.
Don't forget that Tom Green has his own county down here in Texas! 🤣😂😁🤪
He’s living his best on his farm
Just saw him live in stand-up. He's still hilarious
I'm neither a fan nor a hater, though when my friends and I watched Freddy Got Fingered, we all came out the other end 10 IQ points dumber than when it started.
Tom was always a pioneer in media
Now that I look at him, Tom Green kinda resembles Alan Rickman
I can't believe you didn't mention Organized Rhyme lol
I saw him at Yuk Yuk's 3 months ago. He's doing standup now.
Wait, wait wait wait. Youre telling me, he was born, on his BIRTHDAY? What a lotto ticket, how?!
did yyou watch Last Comic Standing Canada? its hilarious!
I still have an autograph shirt of Tom Green when he did stand up comedy
Anybody who's ever seen even a single scene of "Freddy" has to admit its one of the absolute worst films ever released to an audience. And for that alone this movie is noteworthy. Tom Green elevated garbage to an art form, succeeded magnificently, and managed to piss off most of Canada while doing it. But Tom Green's "works", as it were, will be around long after the raging Canadians have forgotten all about him eh.
Wow, what a coincidence that he was born on his birthday.
His early on the street stuff was so wild and so ahead of it's time.
How is "doing it for clicks" any different than doing it for ratings?
He wasn't any funnier than the online pranksters.
Where do you think they learned it from?
How did you not mention him almost losing his feet in a bonfire?
i remember watching the old canada shows back in the day.
This legend was a pioneer! Without him there would be no Jackass...Eric Andre....those lame prank shows......4 old best friends men..so lame...and no punked! So TY TG! we love ya. :.stay weird because normal sucks...normal is weird! your star on Walk of Fame is coming! im buying all his Mtv dvds now!
I ❤ everything Tom Green dude is a genius.
He’s probably offering his dad some sausage
He was also in the trailer park boys movie asking who wanted a free keychain
he was on TPB a few times, what a great show
Yeah I follow him in TikTok he's actually doing fine more mellowed out than the days when he was on mtv and his Freddy movie is the kinda thing you wanna show when you're trying to gross someone out in the worst way 😂
i am a stunt double in shred
I randomly met him in a park in Red Deer, Alberta 20+ years ago. Really nice guy.
I like to think of him as the Pauly Shore of the early 2000s:
1) Gimmicky and silly
2) Trendy in screwball comedy movies
3) Dated chicks way beyond his class
4) Loved by MTV and 14 year old boys of the time
5) Now faded into obscurity for a while
6) Then found success again podcasting
" But I want to eat Chicken Burgers!"
9:40 Andy Dick & Tom Green have always been the same person to me
HE WAS TROLLING US ALL BEFORE TROLLING WAS TROLLING!
I never found him funny except that one time with the statue of his dad beating his mom on the lawn. 😂
I just saw him in person in PA.
It was the worst and secretly best show during his time, just a few short years but he was a household name due to his antics.
