- In our latest WTF series, we take a look at some of our favorite stars and filmmakers who have seemingly disappeared or altered their careers over the years to the point that begs the question; WTF happened? Now, before you think we're just picking on celebrities or running some gossip rag stuff, think again! We take a fun (and sometimes funny), researched and fair approach, looking at all angles that led our subject to wherever they are now (which isn't necessarily a bad place at all). If anything, it answers the question of where these fine folks went, how they got there, and where you can find 'em now.
Shia LaBeouf is one of those guys you can't help but root for. While he's had his off-screen troubles, but on-screen he's delivered a slew of incredible performances that suggest, despite everything, he may be one of the greatest actors of his generation. For real. So check out our look at WTF Happened to Shia LaBeouf?

Can you imagine Shia LaBeouf and Joaquin Phoenix in a movie together competing for "most method"?
I've been saying I wanna remake Face Off(because the competitive nature already of having 2 actors get into each other's head) with Jim Carrey and Jared Leto, and I wanna be the director and get in their head and egg the competition on, and see what method acting+uncut narcissism×10,000,000 looks like lol
Nicholas Cage beats them all at method acting...
@@pigsfood27 Nicolas Cage isn't really famous for method acting, he usually employs other styles
@@knalleballkalle8365 that is very false Nicolas cage is like the most known method actor he is known for Literslly going through a whole boot camp type thing to train for action movies since everyone said he couldn’t and is know for doing a lot of unnecessary things to prepare for his roles and get into his character
@@ballsballsballs3617 Ok I didn't know he did method acting, like Face/off, Con Air, Vampire's Kiss, Moonstruck, Mandy etc that's some famous method acting. Also how is he the most "famous" method actor?
I loved him in the movie "Holes", but also the 1st transformers. He is a great actor. I miss him
He was also in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Tru Confessions”; where he played Trudy’s (Tru) developmentally challenged brother! I’m surprised that one wasn’t mentioned, because that, for me, was a stand-out role for him. His acting skills in that was superb and is constantly overlooked, especially in a Disney Channel film.
I remember that one!
The library scene was heartbreaking
100%
Honestly never heard of that film until now, I'm surprised no one talks about that film from Disney
Tw:
Why do people keep thinking “Hollywood” is what made him “crazy”? If you actually read about his childhood, he was mentally abused a lot by his father. And at the age of 9, he heard his own mother get r*ped. And the man got away.
He suffered from PTSD of those two incidents, and he thought he needed to act to escape his troubled childhood so he can make money for his parents. That put a lot of stress on his life. And he had to carry that stress till he hit his breaking point.
He also said in a 2019 interview that none of the weird stuff happened to him Hollywood. And he was lucky that it didn’t. He has mental health issues from his childhood. But all in all he’s a great actor and super committed to his work. At least he changed for the better.
salma garcia agreed. Especially since he was in the other room when it happened. That would’ve fucked me up
Yes. The mental abuse shaped him and that's why he had all this outbursts
Allison Bauch agreed
Abused by the mirror.
Stephen Hill I mean you jumped on this video if you don’t like his career or him that much, maybe not watching anything related to him. Idk
I grew up where they filmed transformers 1 and 2, so Shia and everyone was around town and eating out. Well I had left already to join the army, well one night I’m trying to sleep, and I get a call from my dad at like 1130 pm. Thinking it’s an emergency I answer, I also have PT at 0530 so I’m half asleep, I can hear him but couldn’t make out what he was saying because he was as pretty drunk, and it was loud. So I tell him to repeat what he said and he’s all, “son, I just took a piss next to that Shia guy from the transformer movie. He had a hand injury and looked really wasted (coming from someone drunk that was kinda funny) but he said what’s up to me.” 😂😂 I wasn’t even mad at that point, I was all thats actually pretty cool dad, but why couldn’t you have just told me tomorrow? I guess he was just excited lol.
I really liked him in the movie "Constantine"... that was a proper movie; Keanu Reeves with his cigarettes, the theme, the genre, everything about it was awesome... the ending was EPIC - the portrayal of good vs bad was simply wrenching (in a good way).
Yep! My favorite film he was in.
I’ve always thought Shia is an amazing actor. Fury is one of my favorite movies and he’s the best part of it.
"Fury" is amazing. That scene at the table with the eggs is perfect.
I genuinely like this guy. He's a very underrated actor.
@Various Artists I know very little about what's happening in Hollywood or who's popular. I'd say they're not doing a very good job of covering it up because even I knew that about him.
Same I really like Shia LaBeouf he’s an Underrated Actor I feel like he’s really lucky how he’s got Hot babes like Megan Fox very Underrated , Dakota Johnson, And Isabel Lucas
Win or lose, this dude is the man. People will look back at this dude and he will be a Legend. That’s the way it goes for people like this.
Pwhahahahahaha
Im not sure if you are kidding or not but I actually agree. I can see him winning an Oscar one day.
huh
HAHAHAHAH
Yeah nah
Clowning on Shia’s “He will not divide us” livestream was just wonderful.
Yeah, I'm sad this guy downplayed just how broken his TDS/4chan made Shia. It was an epic saga.
i absolutely loved disturbia..

9? 9 ads? OK. I'll just download this video so I can enjoy it instead of not watching anymore of your videos. Good content. Just way too many ads breaking the flow.
Or you could just download AdBlocker, which is free you know
He became the lone hipster that walks in the night, making you think you may have interacted in a bar/club/ event with him. But he acts like a ghost, so you aren't sure if it were really him or not. He mastered the ability to make you think it's him but you were never sure if it was really him, or just some guy.
I took your advice. I paused this and went to Hulu to watch The Peanut Butter Falcon. Thank you. I'm still misty eyed.
How is a famous person like this, so easy to hate, still so interesting and fascinating. One of the few actors I’d watch a movie for just the fact that he’s in it.
Padre Pio is coming out soon!
I’ve been binge watching these videos all morning. You gained a new loyal fan today (: thanks for the entertainment bud.
same here. I sb asleep
The first thing I ever saw Shia in was Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Don't think it was even mentioned here.
Did they skip eagle eye aswell
@@eddead4235 Eagle Eye was in there @10:05
Lol why would it be mentioned? Out of the couple dozen films he has done, that would definitely be one to leave out. The biggest box office bomb of that summer directed by McG who is possibly one of the worst directors in decades..
@@madamefeast4824 i loved full throttle lol :(
Peanut butter falcon was a great movie. It goes to show how good Shia is when he's focused on his art.
I couldn't believe he didn't mention this movie... Edit : lol he just did
“Lawless” is one of my favorite movies. I didn’t know Shia was actually drinking the moonshine during the movie 🤣🤣.
My husband and I watched Disturbia for the 1st time while I was pregnant. I loved Shia Labeouf's name in the movie (Cale) so much we named our son Cale.
Oh lord. Poor kid is going to be known as "seaweed" for the first 20 years of his life...
@@naturalwonders5137 hahah
Jjmkk
@@naturalwonders5137 he actually made it calesalad. 🤣
Man this was one EXCELLENT summary! Loved it! Especially the lasr 3 - 4 minutes you so spoke from my heart! This guy went through hell and back so many times. I just wish more people would have your empathy and not fall for the crap that's been told and written about him but to take him for what he is: one of the most talented people on this planet! Thank you for this awesome and respectful piece!
That ending was classic. Thank you for making this video sir.
Whats crazy and also incredibly unfortunate is that now we know that his father was never abusive and that he regrets a lot about honey boy. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend you all check out his interview he did with Jon Bernthal on his podcast. Very real.
Watch The Triggering of Shia series by Internet Historian if you haven't.
Very triggered.
He's been up and down but you gotta admit that Shia has some raw talent that all the haters pretend doesn't exist. Not many successful child actors reach 30 without major public issues.
This guy is past 30 he is in his mid 30's
So what? Anyone from Hollywood who presents themselves with a paper bag over their head which proclaims 'I'm not famous anymore', amongst all the other self-serving crap such as he's pulled, is NOT suddenly some kind of commendable 'performance artist', or anyone else who might be worth following or listening to, but just another egotistical 'Look at me right now. and please.. please.. PLEASE.. KEEP me famous!!'' Tinsel Town mind-f*ed total bullshit merchant!!!
lol he has no talent, he's just being his delusional far-left nutjob self most of the time.
The best thing to come out of Shea's fall was the internet historian videos... capture the flag was epic.
honestly after Transformers and then his seemingly passing of the torch from Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones the following year I thought Shia was gonna be the next huge Hollywood star... basically I thought he'd be what the rock Dwayne Johnson currently is.
His very quick fall from grace was very surprising.
This video helped me understand a small part of what Shia is like, I don't think I have had any more respect for him, than I do right now
Shia's interview with Sean Evans on Hot Ones was really good and opens up his complexities too. I was never a huge fan though I appreciated many of his performances. But digging into alot of what he's gone through, I support his journey. It seems he's very open to learning and growing and trying to process life in different ways. I loved his newest projects, and wish him well. New found respect for him through his missteps and his moves to rise and overcome. A very interesting individual.
He's a good guy just trying to overcome that ole Disney curse. He's done his best to deal with all his "shenanigans," shall we call them? He's succeeding as far as I can tell
17:10 '...Ive never seen this film because I dont think Im allowed to..' *Got me so good I spat a mouthful of dinner like an animal*
This is one of the best WTF happened videos to date.
Great upload. Most don’t know he did the just do it green screen for his film students. It was their submissions he acted out per their direction. He did it for kids and may have the biggest heart in show biz. He’s just now getting credit for his art and it’s actually a lot about his personal life. Hard to say bad things about the dude imo.
It’s not very often I have the attention span for any video past say 15 min or so....well done brother. I enjoyed every minute of this one!! Thanks for sharing. Bravo!!
Thanks for making this video I got a bunch of videos added to my watch list now.
You have redeemed Shia to me. I’ll finally go and check out Honey Boy and his other latest films.
Ya forgot to add that Shia is being accused of beating his girlfriend. She is suing him. I think she played a part in "Honey Boy"
Well shit.
Looks like she's jumping on board the Amber Heard ship.
As I was in 4th grade, back when Holes was first written & I read it NUMEROUS times that school year! I fell in love with the story & was seriously impressed, seeing Shia LaBeouf, “Break out” into being a film actor rather than the “Silly” Even Stevens role he had played. Shia LaBeouf’s acting as the character “Stanley Yelnats” WAS exactly how I imagined that character to be, in my mind. & I am Impressed with how he let the “Monster of Hollywood” mess him up in certain ways, YET he has somewhat found a way to come back with doing various projects along the way
I was one of the Shia Labeouf haters until today and this video. great work.
He just didn't follow his dreams and JUST DO IT!
I did follow his dream and he is much happier now
how many fucking ads in this vid
"Not quite a nerd, not quite a hunk. Shia LaBeouf!".....Homer Simpson
Great show,
you show their inner indifferences and raise them up to what they really are.
I absolutely love these wtf videos and have been on a binge might have to go to rehab soon
I love FURY!!! PITT was GREAT and SHIA WAS GREAT TOO!!!
I'll always remember how 4chan trolled the shit out of him.
HE WILL NOT COME INSIDE US
It's all coming back to me now.. Remember how he put it in an undisclosed location but the internet found it still lol
@@vanityscar424 not on my watch

Why is it that anyone can trash a celebrity and everyone laughs. Even if it harms them. And yet,if someone trashes just another person, non famous, everyone gets onboard to crucify the one who says anything bad about them. Pretty hypocritical in my opinion..
Make more of this segment please !! 😁👍
I can't get enough of your WTF videos
I love how intense the music gets at some points during this video 😂
I love this Joblo Host. The way he describes the actors/actresses filmography and goes into details about downfalls and redemptions. Very funny and very enjoyable to listen to and watch. Great videos! Thank you!
Love your videos dude, keep em up
Excellent video! 👌
He is such a natural actor.
He brings an honesty to his style of acting.
At some point, PLEASE do a 'WTF Happened To Kirstie Alley?' 🙏🏻
Scientology happened to Kirstie Alley.
Mate, this was one of your best. 👍
I always enjoy your commentary ☺️
I was 28 when Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull came out and all I remember, was wanting to cry and begging my then girl friend to leave… cause it was that BAD. The last good movie / character I’ve seen Shia in was Fury, which is still a great movie and character.
22:40
“he would step across the line. Habitually. He's a habitual line stepper.”
If only Charlie Murphy was still with us.
Forget about shia. You. This video itself is amazing. Please keep up the great work.
A truly special human. Hopefully he continues to flourish and grow and bring us more of his creative genius.
👍 Labeef!
I think Holes is my favorite of all his movies! So rewatchable!
“Name a redeeming quality”.
Karen Allen. There you go.
Finally this video was made I thought you would never make this video but finally it is here
I clicked on this SO fast. Love these videos and this actor!
Nothing happened to him, he’s been doing well. Did anyone not see peanut butter falcon or honey boy? And he just came out with a new movie called the tax collector and he’s good in it. Shia is a talented actor
I mean he definitely has mental health issues. There is no arguing that.
He had a lot of trouble throughout his career resulting from a lot of factors feeding into his mental health issues.
Blaming conspiracy theory nonsense is a part of his mental health.
Cornlips 4 I know but since those problems, I feel like he has been growing and learning from them
@@greengoblin4life i honestly wish him the best. Everyone deserves a chance to get beyond their mental health problems and heal.
Are you kidding? The Tax Collector is crap and cliche and borderline racist.
He's doing amazing, sweetie.
If dissing Spielberg is a career-breaker in Hollywood then it goes to show how much Spielberg truly has sold out; when he was once the outsider, the rebel on the scene, a young director with vision, becoming one of the old-timers that snubbed their noses at him back in the day.
He was GREAT in Constantine LOVED IT..Hope they make another...
I just got a list of movies to watch. thanks man
I wish Shia the best and hope he gets to realize his dreams. Everyone deserves a chance at success. Most of us don't even get one chance let alone many chances and I can not hate on him for using his opportunities.
Really great video. I really enjoyed it.
I will say that I have seen Nymphomaniac, and I can confirm that no, the actors did not actually perform coitus.
They used the lower bodies of actual porn stars performing what needed to be done and then placed them over the actors lower waist sections using some form of CGI for those nude parts of the movie.
stunning in an uncomfortable way
yeah, all of the unsimulated sex is done by porn actors, not Shia, Stacy, or Charlotte. I love Lars von Trier, it was one of the hardest movies to watch that I've ever seen, but in a good way.
@@jevinday i still don't get it. some parts are uncomfortably funny, but that was about it
@@jevinday one of the "hardest" movies to watch? IC what you did there. 😁
Train scene was insane haha
Life 👏 is 👏 method 👏 acting 👏...
I appreciate his life being proof of that.
My friend said “my goal is to read one thousand books so I can live one thousand lives”
My response was “I want to live a life worth writing about”
I may be projecting... but I relate to Shia 💜🤘
Shia dares to be himself 100% of the time no matter where he is and what he feels, most people don't.
WTF happened to Michael Ironside
You mean the actor who voices Sam Fisher?
Scanner is his best movie
@Timmy Squibs Turbo kid was awesome you cruel pirate!!!😂
Starshiptroopers.....
Who
I really enjoyed this one. I have some movies to watch.
Great video
Loved it !
I feel like Disney and Nickelodeon have churned out more child train wrecks than normal childhood; Disney and Nickelodeon are the ultimate Helicopter/Tiger parents
Dude crystal skull was awesome, enjoyed it more than temple of doom
The He Will Not Divide Us saga was the funniest stuff. This video only showed a small part of it. It kept going and going. Hilarious.
He’s back and better then he was he just has 3 movies pop off this last year
He went insane, remember him with that 24 hour video camera thing when Trump won lol, crazy
That is wild.
You never go full libtard.
Seem like he went through the same type of personally change that Joaquin Phoenix had as well
@@Dirty_mike_and_dem_boys Yeah im glad he came out the other side.
Forgot all about that crap honestly. Everyday something "monumental" happens in the mainstream news cycle. We have all been put through so much and totally unnecessarily.
I knew when I first saw him as a child actor in Even Steven that he'd be a big star. He just had that 'it' factor.
I didn't know he did anything after the "performance art" started. Wow, he really keeps on going and making good movies.
Definitely interesting...
....and totally fascinating!! 👍👍
That movie he did about himself was pretty good
i put it above joker as far as a portrayal of an abusive homelife
@lockstam Yeah it was very real and relatable. They show that an abusive person isn't just a monster all of the time.
One of my favorite actors. I hope he’ll continue doing movies like lawless and fury. My two favorite movies to come out in the past decade or so 🤘🏽👌🏽🤙🏽
Lawless and Fury..exactly yup
"no no no no no" you're so funny man ! I loved your commentaries.
This was a good one.
Shia is talented and misunderstood I’ve always been a fan of his
12:31 just sounds like it was purposely made to be a beat, i cant seem to stop coming back to it
Ty for this. Shia gets a bad wrap but he's got real talent and I've almost always enjoyed movies simply by him being in them.
Loved 4:3 since film school. Kubrick used it for “The Shining”
That was.. Amazing 🤩
Disturbia is still great to me he was good on that movie.
Indeed FORGIVENESS is the beginning of healing. I think he's a awesome actor. Thanks
This video made me cry.
I met him on the set of transformers dark of the moon.
Shia labeouf did all that for fury... Damn son.
I liked him in the movie "he will not devide us". Great villain
I think he is at his best as a character actor, not necessarily as the typical male lead. Even if the material he's working with isn't great, he will always give his all to the performance, sometimes at great personal cost. Will be interesting to see what direction he takes as he grows older.
