Your videos are unique, brilliantly shot , historically interesting and personal!
Thank you so much Ade :) much appreciated buddy.. It was a surprisingly good sunrise after all that weather
I really like these narrative/history videos, where you can enjoy the view and learn on the way. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you :) its great to hear that.
Same!
@@KentSurvival it would be interesting to see some "reenactment", type camping.
@@captainyoni That's a great idea! Would love to see a WW1 solo or two man style camp overnight. Be interested to see how it was back then, not being dramatised by TV
@@alicesimpson9173 yes! Exactly! Use as much period style equipment when possible. Over here in the states a lot of that era equipment is available at military surplus shows.
You followed in my footsteps!I had the same idea in early November 1975 when living in London, train down to Rye then Camber Castle which was not open at that time, there were two Martello towers, one on the road leaving Rye which was a private residence and a second on the edge of the beach plus the WWII bunkers. The plan was to go from Rye across Dungeness to Hythe and Folkestone over the course of a couple of days but I faffed about so much that I only got as far as Camber Sands and decided to bivvy in a field at the roadside where there was a slight depression.I had a sleeping bag, some surplus compo rations bought from a surplus store near Euston station,a Belgian para smock was my outer. The wind was howling but the scrape provided shelter and I took on some food and got into the sleeping bag for an early night, being winter it was full dark at 6.00pm.I couldn't sleep because of a loud buzzing which somehow I'd not noticed before ... the bloody high voltage lines from Dungeness power station were right overhead! It was driving me nuts,so about 10.00pm I aborted the mission, hoofed it back to Rye in time to catch the last train which got me back to London just before the Tube shut down and home for early morning beefburgers!
Thanks for reviving some happy memories.
This vid brings back memories, of a trip to rye harbour, saw the pill boxes and camber castle, and the pub for dinner. We visited battle abbey and bodium castle as well.
Nice to see you and Tom on a camp thanks for letting us tag along, take care Andy and Tom,
cheers John, good to have company on a camp again :)
Seconds in and I’m laughing like a drain at the cameras fall and “….aaaaaaawwww” groan 🤣

Thanks very much :) always a good time when camping lol
Class!... TFS Andy. Take care mate. Steve. 👍👍
Thanks very much Steve :)
Used to play in and around this area while dad sailed out of Rye harbour back in the 70's. Nice to watch the drone footage of the martello tower as never manage to get on top of that one.
Enjoyed the vid. First saw it a few weeks after returning to NZ. But had spent part of my time in England staying at friends at winchelsea beach. So walk the same tracks. While watching remembered we had somehow got into the Martello tower 50years ago. Did feel it was a bit of a let down. Basically hollow space like the inside of a barrel. Thanks for the vids. Or what ever they should be called.
Pucker video mate...interesting and entertaining
Finally some historical buildings I can relate to :) We have 3 Martello towers here in Québec city. Built in 1808 they were renovated in 1990. I can also relate to the weather. For the last week or so, cold wind and rain. Another interesting and entertaining video Andy. Thanks for the hard work you put into each of them.
Thats really interesting, I didn't know you had any over there.. maybe ill see them one day :) Thanks for watching buddy
No better time to test a tent, than when a fall back shelter is nearby. lol Thanks for taking us along
Outstanding landmarks, history and photogrophy (twins outdoors :-) )
Thanks mate :) .. twins lol, Toms got more muscles :p - but I guess I have the bigger beard
Good to see you two back out 👍🏻 🏴
Thanks Andy.. good to be back out :)
Great video yet again Andy, thanks for uploading! I'm loving the 'out-take' style ending, I think that should be a usual feature if and when you do have a recording mishap.
Thank you Gareth.. Im such a professional there isn't usually any out takes lmao.. im thinking of a new year blooper video special, I have a few good ones :p
Haha! Looking forward to that one then 😋
Fantastic video as usual....Gezzz, your area is full of history. How wonderful it must have been growing up there!
Thanks buddy... I love discovering whats around us, a lot of it is hidden away and un noticed by most

Awwww congrats on your one year anniversary bromance lol. Great vid as always!!!
haha, thanks Angie :p good to have company on a camp now and again :)
I remember visiting all around that area on family holidays back in the late 60s or early 70s, and then going back a few times again in the late 80s early 90s for the Kent Custom bike show. But if you are wild camping isn't going to the pub for dinner cheating a bit ? 😂
Cracking video Andy, Thanks. Also enjoyed the out-takes, plus sound effects :) Cheers..........Les
cheers Les :)

Take care mate cheers Karl
haha, It was a bit dartmoory lol, the 1 day you pick is the worst and sunny either side. cheers for watching mate
I wish we had the historic stuff here since I'm a total history buff. Cheers
Thanks for watching buddy.. when I was in st Augustine FL I spent some time in the Fort there.. almost felt like home :)
great drone footage at the beginning!!! good choice of the pillbox for your wild camp. bummer your main camera took a dive
Thanks Kaylynn.. already got another lens and hope to get this one fixed to sell on.. these things happen I guess haha
Great video. Always reminds me of my youth traveling up and down the Kent coast. The smell of the sea I shall never forget. Langdon cliffs Dover, Hastings Winchelsea etc unique! How about exploring the tunnels under ramsgate under East and west cliff if you can find the entrance. Also Seasalter and Reculver towers would be a good spot to camp! I live in Devon but the history/historic buildings around Kent always capture my imagination. Its those weird war buildings.. The fog horn at ramsgate Goodwin sands is awesome..
cheers Andre, Great suggestions and I do have a couple of them planned, there isn't enough days in the week lol, im sure in a another couple of years Ill have covered Kent lol
Can we have more of 'Tom Outdoors' bigging-up the pubs, brilliant!
Love the videos Andy, history side amazing especially Kent side. I'm Essex And often look across the estuary and wonder if you're camped there somewhere 😁. Keep up good work loving it. Oh by the way Mike from TA Outdoors has tagged you. 😊
Thanks :) I usually am haha. yeah, I saw the tag.. watch this space :)
Must have been a very surreal place to sleep overnight! Great vid pal :)
Interesting area 👍
Thanks for watching Abe
12:20 "hobos with headlamps" lol.
Just came across you from
TA Outdoors...this is the first clip that popped up and small world. I happen to live 10..15min walk away from here. You guys seem cool and I loved this video👍
Hi Krissy, Thank you.. I love it down there, will definitely be back before long... but before that.. looks like im gonna have to get my Steak on lol
awesome dude and damn man, now i want a Steak lol
Toms beard is coming along nicely.
Andy, the black foamy is used to keep the partical filter intake off the bottom of whatever body of water your using, helps keep from intaking all sorts of dirt and sand. you want it placed around 6inches- 1 foot from the intake. Sorry you busted your camera lens mate, hope its not to much cost to get it replaced or repaired.
Thank you :) I did think about that afterwards haha.. sure it'll get more use, worked a treat. Already have a new lens.. hope this one doesn't cost too much to fix and I can get back some of the money haha
I want to camp in a pill box on the beach. Nice!!
luckily these ones were pretty clean :) Thanks for watching Monica
Good work as usual mate, you just keep finding these gems.
You may know, TA outdoors tagged you for a worthy challenge.
Thanks Michael.. yes, ive seen the tag.. watch this space :)
One of my favourite parts of the world.
definitely a lot to see around there :) Thanks for watching Tom
