I'm a rock drummer, and most of the stuff I like falls within that realm -- British invasion, psych rock, indie rock, shoegaze, Britpop, alternative, etc. But I love going outside my comfort zone and drumming along with funk, jazz, R&B, hip hop, metal, punk, country, pop, and just about anything else that catches my ear. Dirk showed the importance of learning how to read and count music while Domino is showing us that there’s nothing wrong with perfecting your technique over time. I tremendously enjoyed watching each of them going through their process. Something to learn from all these drummers 😊

@@eriklarson9137 You'd be surprised how many drummers are self taught without learning to read music. Hence why Domino's process works better for those of us that learned that way. Dirks method is still fantastic for learning songs, but you HAVE to be able to read and understand sheet music and charting to use his method. You'll probably learn better using Dirks method if you can read sheet music, but Domino's works better for the drummers who can't. Nothing wrong with either method though, and it's all about using what works best for you to get better at your instrument. This goes for anything from drums to guitar, and all the way to brass and woodwind insturments like trumpet, trombone, flute, and clairnet.
