- In this free mix masterclass, Adam "Nolly" Getgood walks through his mix for the Periphery song "Wildfire". There is however a slight twist - the main drum performance has been replaced with a programmed version using the P V: Matt Halpern Signature Pack.

This was the most informative Vsauce ive seen yet
Insane how we can watch this for free. Thanks Nolly!
I swear to god, I've waited so long for this. I watch these 1-2 times for educational purposes but then these Nolly walkthroughs and masterclasses just become my background podcast, that voice is magnificent.
Nolly audiobooks could be a thing.
So soothing.
same lol
This is why we love Nolly. He doesn't gatekeep his knowledge and can flawlessly explain his reasoning for every move he makes in the mix.
I'm totally speechless. To have knowledge shared like this...and for free? That is a huge testament to Nolly, Periphery, and GGD and speaks miles for their love and passion of what they do. Supporter 4ever.
NEVER clicked anything so fast
It was one of the most important lessons I've learned in a while
Nolly: we need you on stage bud. At least once for a DVD 📀
You are a good man for releasing these, and I think not gate keeping will speak for a long and well earned success of the company
Thank you for saying so, the joy of doing this kind of thing is the thought of smoothing the creative journey of musicians of all levels around the world by making recording more understandable and enjoyable.
it's definitely lovely when bands and artists can just be concerned about creating great music rather than having to tweak something here and there to achieve great tone.
Parallax is just so versatile, awesome and fast when dialing good tones. I even use it on projects that are not rock or metal. Its really good
i agree, when you turn off the mid and high distortion theres a great tone there thats clean but still clanky
Thank you for doing these 🙏 I’m so pumped to watch this!
Videos like this make me realize what an amateur I am
“Tell me if I’m a fraud and it’s mixing for me” 😂. Nah man we are blessed to have this content to help us 😅

oh hi there
MY god that sounds incredible lol, it blows my mind! Thanks for doing these Nolly, I do not know about anyone else but these always inspire me to record and try and implement your techniques.
This is mind blowing, thanks so much for this free content. My early 2000s teenage self would have been amazed at seeing something like this!
How can anyone not love this kick-ass stuff from Nolly, a high-caliber modern mixing engineer, needless to mention a fantastic bass player... Thank you Nolly for sharing your insights into techniques that may be in some circles forbidden mystic knowledge!!! I would say to give credence to your products, these types of tutorials open a clear view of real applications as well.
I appreciate this content so much. So much knowledge for free from the man himself. Amazing.
This video needs to win an award of some kind
I am working my way through this video and apply the moves and ideas to my own mix. It got 10x better straight away. Unbelievable quality of this video. Thanks nolly❤

Fantastic video. Enjoyed it a lot. I have learned a lot from your tom processing. That limiter REALLY makes them work as you avoid having too much clickiness. Thanks!

Loving how this seems more simplistic than previous developments. Less is more.
Love the video, great info. Thank you. And that Gower Marshall must sound brutal!
da goat nolly blessing us once again
Great!
Love mixing along to these vids, lots of new fresh ideas to implement. Thanks as always Nolly & the GGD crew!
Our pleasure!
I’ve learnt so much from Nolly, heck let’s just say I learnt everything I know from Nolly at this point. The way he just presents and just allows for such clear understanding of mixing as well as personal touches is just unparalleled.
He truly is a master of his craft and an absolute asset to the music community. ❤️
Watched every minute of this, and I'm going to watch it again too. And again. xD
I really love how Nolly knows about Misha and points out really important stuff about him that other people could miss. He really appreciated his work there, you can just feel it even he listens the guitar tracks
Thanks for the MIDI...Get ready for Wildfire with EZDrummer. 😆
Seriously though, you all asked on Facebook what content we would like to see and this is exactly what I asked for. Having seen Nolly's mix tutorials before it's good to catch up with him and see what's new, what's changed and what's the same in his approach. Thanks!
I really need to see one of this, but with real, maybe not so awesomely recorded, drums. I know there's an old one but maybe an updated version haha. I've learned so much through u guys really, thank u so much!!
Thank you for offering up this and the Wildfire stems, guys. Made my day.
Glad you're enjoying it!
I'd call your story about the djent sound around 1:31:30 more of an anecdote than a diatribe. I find it super fascinating. I hope you're not that hard on yourself; that section in Wildfire is my favorite part of the entire album! I think you took that classic djent sound and really gave it the fidelity and depth it deserves. A fitting homage to Bulb through and through! Thanks for giving us such a comprehensive lens into your process :D
Nolly I love you man!! :) You videos are amazing!
Damn! This video is a freaking treasure, would loooooove to see a mixing masterclass from Shrine of BFW
Thank you nolly
Thanks for following for so long, I'm very glad you've seen big differences in your mixing and producing journey :)
I can't wait to sit down and give this a decent watch! Thanks for doing this
Oh hey, hope you find it useful mate
Legendary.
At 1:52:30, I don't know if Nolly is trying to keep things professional, or is he a robot, he's so serious. At least I can't help but get a BIG smile on my face everytime a I hear those amazing vocal harmonies by Spencer 😍 . I think he likes those vocals too, but he's a real pro, and pros keep it cool 😉
Spencer is incredible, I don't think I was as much "keeping it cool" as feeling wiped out from several hours of intense and continuous talking :)
@@adamnollygetgood5545 Not sure if you are the real Nolly, but thank you so much for everything you do, you're so inspiring to me. Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much for showing all that good stuff Nolly!
I really like the simplicity of it. I'm not keen on mixers that use 15 plugins for everything....
What I always liked from your approach is that it all makes sense, anyway to me hehe. And I also just bought the P5 kit (you guys got me!) and I'm using it right now on one of my project and it's sounds killer. Keep up the good work!!!
Just commenting because I saved the video for later. I was one of the people asking for more in depth tutorials in the GGD surveys. Thank you for listening to our feedback. I guess I have a new GGD kit to buy lol.
Thanks so much Nolly, super helpful and easy to understand!
Thanks Derrick, I'm glad you found it helpful
it is really UNBELIVABLE the quality of products that we can have at our disposition with such high-quality sick dudes like GGD team...
GGD Bass cab IR pack sometime?
yes please
Instant buy
Pure gold.
Wow cheers mate I’ll watch this next well when I’m on holiday :)
Thank you so much to share. Save ma alot of time :).
Thank you boss!
This video has pushed me to pull the trigger on your new kit
Nolly describing that snare like a fine wine
This is such a fantastic tutorial about not only mixing but just general musicianship and how to treat performers in a band!
Basically Nolly is the Rick Beato of mixing. In under 2 hours this guy has touched on so many things and although I love the turbo option for quick jams…this walkthrough shows how badass Nolly is. Keeping all the sounds from all the band in a world where we are constantly told to have di’s is just great. Sometimes having the choices taken away means you work with what you have and you just get it done. Awesome job 🤘❤️
>Nolly is the Rick Beato of mixing
That's an insult to Nolly though
