Your pointer on the belt getting caught on the bottom was helpful. That held me up and caused much frustration for a while...Thanks
Thank you for the video! It was helpful!
Just changed the tensioner and the belt today. Thanks for the video. I routed the new belt before I installed the new tensioner. Took a little under 1.5 hours.
Thanks C.K, I just did this job today. One tip worth mentioning is when removing the original belt, use a small allen wrench to lock the tensioner closed so you can more easily maneuver the belt out.
Thank you for making this video. I've been eyeing my 640 belt and wondering how the heck to do it. Lots of steps, but looks easy. Anything to keep me from the BMW service department!
Great much needed video!!!!!!!!
Thank you
Thank you! Just got my car fixed today
Thank you, I did mine. Great video
C.K.,
I just did this job and I have to credit you with 2 videos in one. When you remove the fan, the hose to the radiator is accessible allowing you to drain the coolant. This is a belt and coolant replacement video. Double thanks!!!!!!
Cool, you're right.... When the time comes around to doing it...
Thanks so much for the video. Very helpful!
Excellent video, Thank you
Great video had to come to this video to take fan off to get to water pump.
Great video… i removed the tensioner pulley while the belt was on. The new tensioner pully came fully extended so i just installed it and released the tension.
on a job like this.. bungie cords to hold hoses, etc, while working will save u a ton of headache.
Great video.. Thank you!!
Thank you for the tutorial .The hardest part wast to figure out the way the belt goes and make last step, put it on generator wheel while holding tensioner up.
Just as its easier to start the belt removal process is to slip it off a smooth idler pulley, when putting the belt on, route it onto all of the pulleys with the grooves first and the last thing you slide it on to before giving it tension is a smooth idler pulley. Makes it a lot easier than struggling trying to pry it on
Thank you!
I don't know why your 2011 535i F10's Oil Filter housing unit looks way different than mine of the exact year and model.... Looks like yours is the earlier n55 engine model...
Thank you so much for this video, it's really help me to tackle on my F10 N63. Similar procedures.
Nice guy good video very humble
not sure why so many extra hands are needed. Probably using universal would allow access to those tight bolt locations
hi
first of all thank you!
But, I have to replace/rebuild the power steering pump / dynamic drive. And other "sources" said that one should remove the ac-compressor in order to remove it. Do you know if this is really necessary?
thank you
i have no idea bud, but i would just locate the compressor and see how easy it is to access/remove.also, post on bimmerfest f10 forum, you might get a good answer.
Hi what brand of belt tensioner did you buy?
Hi C.K. I'm wondering where can I find those instructions like u have on your computer for my future projects on my F10? Please help
Hey, they took down the site with online manuals BUT guys on bimmerfest forum have tons of resources. go there.
Ok thank you
What manual are you using on your laptop? I'd like to know if you could share where I could get this.
I am getting all my info from this forum. There is a member on there that will get you everything you need, just post a question asking for the manuals. It is a public website (the place he gets it from, I forgo the URL), but here is the forum: www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=141
I may have found it. he gets me the PDF manuals from here: www.newtis.info/
Hey! I hope you're still active.
When your serpentine belt needed replacing, the fault code that appeared for you; was it for the alternator? Recharging issues for the battery?
no, just nasty clicking/ticking from the tensioner
i never said belt needed to be replaced. but since you are already doing the work, might as well if you have extra cash. belt might have survived twice as long probably
@@yogi799 Turns out it was the belt tensioner! Replaced that, as well as the belt which shredded to strings. Looked like a tragedy, only turned out about $400 to the pockets in all. Sat in the garage all night and knocked it out - thanks man!
@@user-hd2go2pn5j no problem. yes, it's only the tensioner. next get ready for the water pump lol
@@yogi799 i can't wait xd
Just a tip. When removing the belt, you do not ever try to pull it off a grooved pulley. Especially one with a lip. Slide it off one of the smooth idler pulleys. It would have slipped right off very easily.
good point, thanks
Let response but what’s the part number?
Where did you find instructions do do the job?
Collection of sources, lots of research. Mostly BMW forums, BMW tech documents (service manuals), sometimes other similar videos, but not that often.
i dont know how can change belt tensioner watching in this video
confuse me..
can you show me more detail point
steve kim you shouldn’t touch a car if you need any more detail than this
ugh...I need to do this job but ugh....
i just did it a t-60 doesnt go its a T-70 for a exactly fit t-60 your going to rub it im doing it now as we speak had ot go back to autozone
T-70 will absolutely not fit. T-60 is the correct size, at least on the N55 motors.
