  • In this video I show how I replaced the Accessory Belt, Belt Tensioner, and Idler Pulley on the front of the engine on my 2014 BMW 33i with the N55 engine.
    The reason I replaced these parts is because oil had been dripping down from where I had an oil leak around the oil filter housing gasket onto the belt and belt tensioner. The belt tensioner was also wiggling back forth suggesting that it was loosing its ability to keep tensioner on the drive belt. This could cause problems relating to the drive belt slipping off and causing damage to the engine.

    My man just ordered it for my 2013 335i, been squeaking since I bought the car. Can’t wait to install. Thank you for the tutorial !

    on the F10 535i, the idler pulley is a real pain to remove. That AC line bracket is in the way.

    Great video man! Quick question was the belt difficult to install I have a the same belt you’re installing but it seems a little short? Can’t get it to loop around all the pulleys

    • @InlineSixAuto
      @InlineSixAuto  3 роки тому +1

      It should easily slip around all the pulleys before you release the tension on the belt tensioner.

      @@416ix I don't see how that would happen unless you got a defective tensioner? Did you torque the bolt to spec thats securing it to the engine? Did you release all the tension when you remove the pin?

    Hi what brand of belt tensioner did you buy?

    is it true we need a new bolt for the tensioner? kinda ridiculous lol

    • @InlineSixAuto

      You could probably get away with using the old. But a new bolt comes with the kit anyway so might as well just use it.

    I just replaced my tensioner an pulleys as well as the belt like a month or so ago. An my oil cap was cracked i guess🙄 an hot oil got allll over my belt an it slipped off. I ordered a guard for tue crank shaft pulley so just in case it happens again my belt wont get sucked in my engine😒

      @InlineSixAuto  2 роки тому

      Wow sounds like you got very lucky. The oil cap where you fill engine with oil? Or the oil filter caps was cracked?

      @@InlineSixAuto wellll im not out the woods just yet😭 i still need to have them take off my crank pulley to see if it looks like anything got inside, im really hoping not, and yea my oil filter cap was damaged from taking it out🤦‍♂️ i got a new one already but i was driving to work an i got codes for low oil? I look under my hood an theres oil EVERYWHERE🤦‍♂️😭 so im assuming it was that hott ass oil that got on my belt an within a few weeks it came off. This Friday my seal guard should be here an ill get it taken care of🙏

      @@markvalenzuela4040 oh jesus man that sounds rough. Hopefully nothing got inside everything can be fixed. I've heard about this possible issue but I had never really came across anybody that experienced this. I had fixed the oil leak I had from the oil filter housing and did this belt replacement so I figured I wouldn't have to worry about this possibility

    What do you use to torque it down to 38 newtonmeters? Also do you have to torque it to a certain tension?

      I used a torque wrench amzn.to/3ol9ivR

      @@arminkladanjcic671 well you would tighten to the torque spec. that spec is so you don't over tighten it. it'll be good when you tighten to torque spec

      Alright. Got it done! Putting the belt back on took me hours because I put the tensioner in turned too far over until I took it back off and realized I did it wrong lol. Anyway thank you so much for the videos man. I appreciate it like crazy!!

    I’m trying to do this, and after I Release the tension the new tensioner goes over to the new idler pulley and rubs the belt together. Any idea?

    • @InlineSixAuto
      @InlineSixAuto  2 роки тому

      Is the belt on in the correct arrangement around all the pullys? Did you insert the new tensioner in the same position that I show in the video? Faulty Tensioner? Are saying that it ends up being positioned to far to the right, farther than where it stops on mine when I released the tension by removing the pin?

    • @Thick_Thigh91
      @Thick_Thigh91 2 роки тому

      @@InlineSixAuto , I may need to check the tensioner position. The routing is correct though! So the issue I have is that there is way too much slack and the tensioner is not able to put tension on the belt at all, and when I relive the pressure, the tension makes it way all the way to the idler without touching the belt.

    • @Thick_Thigh91
      @Thick_Thigh91 2 роки тому

      @@InlineSixAuto , The position is correct. It fit like a glove. But the belts factory and new are just way too slack. I thought the tensioner might be faulty, but even my factory tensioner is doing the same thing.

    • @InlineSixAuto
      @InlineSixAuto  2 роки тому

      @@Thick_Thigh91 That sounds like you have the belt on in the wrong arrangement around all the pulleys if both are doing it? And the old one didn't have that issue before.
