So many non-professionals watch color tutorials on UA-cam and think they understand color. It is way more challenging; only experience, education, and a whole lot of talent can give the proper results. I love this video because it shows the complexity that goes on in our heads as we set up a plan of action. Bravo! That color was amazing.
Thank you so much! Yes these colors can be super draining to figure out. They definitely aren't always easy! Thank you for watching!
Yes so true I bleached my hair and it turned out orange I had no clue how to fix it. None of the toners were working I ended up going back dark smh. Professional stylists only from now on
Im a non professional/hair lover. And these videos are my ASMR 🥰
I am not a hairstylist, but I have respect for the field. I believe that it is a science and an art, to do it well. When hairstylists talk to me about color, particularly about the complexities of color correction, I assume that my eyes glaze over.
I absolutely love how you try your hardest to protect the integrity of your clients hair!! I follow some pretty famous colorist that don’t put near as much effort as you. Great job!!
$600 is way fair . It looked gorgeous and you have way more patience than I would have . Great job!!
I'd rather pay than to have my hair ruined and be in tears for years
Thank you so much!

How much it costs if we want brown permanent colour
As a hairstylist too, more old school that wasn’t taught even on foils, but can do basic, …I really admire your ability to figure all that out, all the details, products, time, and just everything! I couldn’t have done it.
Fabulous!
Thank you so much! It's definitely mentally challenging! Thank you for watching!
I thought i was the only stylist that lost sleep trying to figure out a way to execute a major service-😵💫🤪😇
Oh geez, so glad to know we're not alone! We need to start a support group..... stylist's losing sleep together 😂😂
Oh me too girl 🥴🤣
Definitely not🙌🏼
Your definitely not alone. I do loose sleep also
HOLY TRANSFORMATION! I'm currently watching it. Your videos are so inspiring... you've helped me to do foilyage in less then 15 foils and partial ones in 8.. I love following you!
I love her talent! Real life in a shop! Awesome videos!
Oh good! Im so glad! Work smarter not harder!
Deborah, thank you for the compliment!
Wow you did an amazing job! ❤️
I got kinda bummed for you when you had to go in and add some darkness back after all that work but regardless I respect you for doing that extra step for your client
Thank you! I was bummed out too
You are brilliant ❤
Thank you for explaining everything video was so worth watching I leave it to the professionals I've been there done that messed up my hair so many times I think you were very fair looked wonderful
You are an excellent hairdresser for so many various reasons. I love that you sit down and discuss the process and cost ahead of time. I love that you know instinctively which colors to reach for, I love that you chose to do a longer, slower processing, and I love how well you explain what you're doing to us. I also love that you're a perfectionist like me! Your end result here was gorgeous but I don't think I would have the stamina to get through a session that long, especially when you worked so hard and she changed her mind at the end. I feel like the color you achieved is so hard to get, especially in one session. You were so fair with your client and her happiness was more important to you than anything else. Even though at the time it feels thankless to have to rework her hair after doing what she asked for, in the long run that's the right thing to because you will get great word-of-mouth business and a good reputation. I applaud you on this one, you earned your stripes here.
That original coolish level 8 was perfect! The hardest color to achieve, especially coming from a level 3. So much thought, time and care went in to that, it must have been frustrating when she wasn’t really happy with it. Still, you gave her what she wanted with respect and patience. Still looked great but I was in love with the first color. You deserved a lot more than 600. I hope she gave a generous tip!
I really appreciate your transparency, Kristi. I once asked popular person/stylist a question about how much she charged and she completely bit my head off. Needless to say I never listened to another word she had to say.
Yeah I feel like that's the common attitude with popular stylists....I feel like it's important to talk about pricing cause I too for the longest time had a hard time charging more accurately.... still do. While I get that the popular stylists on Instagram and whatnot probably charge way more, I'm an average person and I feel like I'd charge the same as anyone else. That's why I like including it cause depending on area, the amount of work for any service should be close to what all you guys should be charging too.... and I really want you guys to know that you need to up your prices and charge your worth and not all services take just 3 hours for $200.
@@hairbykristijennings6648 You're a great help! It's the way you explain things that's so helpful and we can use that and figure out for ourselves from there. I worked in a salon that wasn't charging enough and it was so much work. Needless to say it was a very busy place but it was completely exhausting. Anyway, I don't understand why some platform artists are so offended when asked about pricing. And the classes are so unaffordable for some of us! Thanks again for doing what you do!
You did an amazing job! I've never seen a stylist leave strands out during toning. Its brilliant.
Thank you! And definitely if the hair is porous and might over Tone, like around the hairline. Thank you for watching!
I really hope she tipped you well! I loved it at the first reveal more, too, and was surprised she wanted to change it.
Thank you! Either it was $10 or $0.....
She was a young client and they want/ think one thing but are not prepared for this much of a transformation. Being a natural level 3/4 going to level 8 is a shock with her skin tones. The result was beautiful before the root shadow. An older client with this level would have left the first change. Probably an all over baby lights foiling same 8 level all over same toner mix leaving some dark in her hair would have worked. Olaplex alone is an added cost you deserved every penny! None of these clients understand the work / knowledge it takes for a stylist to be an artist in the salon. Great Job👍🏻
Clients have no concept of the head work to calculate colour results let alone labour intensive time to get to their desired look. You deserve every dollar you charged, awesome work , great hairdresser comprising all your hard work for the satisfaction of your client, my kind of lady. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for watching! And yes clients often times don't understand how hard something it's they're asking for..... it's always good to give them a break down
And soo worth it ! Having someone like Kristi take care of you. ⭐️
That was stunning girl, you worked your ass off woman! You didn’t charge enough and I seriously hope she comes back to get the bottom done cause that doesn’t look good. Seriously you ROCKED THAT!
Beyond impressive! Not a professional but a novice... To go from a level 2/3 to a cool level 8 in one session takes so much talent! Well priced, great job.. Love your channel!
Thank you so much!
Hi Kristi, I have been binge watching your videos! You are so talented!! I wish I could come assist you in person to soak in all your knowledge! I was wondering if you could do a video specifically on highlighting the part? Like do you highlight right on top of each side of the part? Or do you leave baby fine vale in between?? Thank you for sharing all you videos!! Maybe one day I can afford to come from CA to get my hair done hehe
Girl, you did so good! I stress so much when it comes to lifting dark to light!! Your technique was amazing, you taught me several things I've been doing wrong (the way I was taught in school)all these years. I mix color very much the same way you do, I panic when it starts turning blue!!!! Sheer terror, do I rinse???? Do I leave it???? Unbelievably it comes out right every time. Thanks for everything!!
U did an amazing job...i think how u had it first was absolutely beautiful....
Appreciate you sharing your thought process along with your detailed procedure and products used. Thank you!
Omg her color came out so nice. I wish I had u to do my hair. I don't think the girl i go to understands color like u. Because after 3 sessions she still cant get me to the level i want and she said my hair is healthy. So idk...i wish i understood color like u
Wow, you worked so so hard to achieve the perfect colour that the client wanted! Well done, I can see how stressful and hard that was for you. I’m disappointed that she wasn’t happy with the result that she asked for. You are a much nicer stylist than I’ve ever struck. Thank you for sharing, and rest well x
Before I would commit so many hours and $$, I would try wigs on in different shades (cheap on eBay, lol) to get an idea of what different levels and tones would look like with my skin tone and depth.
I love watching videos with our type of hair..Hispanics we have very dark hair.. and many people want to go super light n at times it's not possible the first time. Thank you for the video!
Gorgeous! Totally worth the $$! That is my goal color. Great job, you're amazing!
That was so cool to watch wow amazing! Such a great idea leaving the highlighted pieces out and toning them after, definitely saves some time! I can’t believe she thought it looked to light I thought it was perfect but it still looked great for the end result you could still see the dimension in it 😍 btw I really like your hair blonder looks so good on you. Keep up the fantastic work ☺️
Love from the uk 🇬🇧💕
Thank you! I was let down but still was happy with the end result. I just wish I would have known and it would have saved me the stress of the first formulation!
💯 so pretty, and leaving the highlighted pieces out. I’m a new Kristi fan, my hair is exactly that yellow color
( real time) 😳😂 in my house. 🙏🏻
Not sure what my next move is….🍊🙏🏻😂
Actually more yellow, like her clients.
That color turned out perfect for her, even though that blonde was a beautiful color, I think she may have felt uncomfortable with that blonde because of her heavy dark thick eye brows. If she really wants blonde a heavy shadow root is definitely the way to go. Great job, I wish I could go to you for my hair color.
Thank you! You're so descriptive and thorough and diligent; I learn so much from all ypur posts.
You did an amazing job! Clients don't understand how much goes into formulating and keeping the balance of color and integrity of the hair at the same time while doing a job like this. You should have totally charged her 100/hr.
If someone can't have all these hair dyes to mix for the perfect tone, what would you recommend to mix for a 7 level result, on a level 8 bleached hair like here?
Great question but I’m sorry to say it doesn’t exist…. That’s why we have to mix all the different tones together. I wish it were that simple!
I'm not an hairdresser but I'm fascinated by colouring techniques, your vids are fab. I heard of a stylist from Belgium breaking down the cost of service per minute and then coming up with the overall cost per service, it makes sense because of the overheads of lights and electricity x
Amazing work as always. Can't believe she wanted it darker at the end. But it happens and it's gorgeous in both afters
Loving your videos! How soon would the client need to come back for retoning?
Maybe like 6weeks? She hasn't been back yet and it was months ago
OMG!!! YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL ARTIST (mad scientist 😊). People need to be told point blank the cost is for your TIME, Product, Number of Processes!! This should habe been min. $800!! Think of how many customers you lost with time to money that could have been made. You did a FANTASTIC JOB!! It's a Miracle you got No Orange! The end was PERFECT! The lighter would not have gone with her skin tone I think! You did Perfect!! I watch a Lot of video's having L2-3 color thin/fine & when bleach highlights I Always get orange! No matter what time bleach is on. ❤
Thank you so much! And it's true.... all the clients we could take in that time frame, so we can't under charge ourselves or it's pointless to do the service
Amazing work and staying power to be working continuously on one client for this amount of hours, well done as stylist I know how hard this was amazing result
she wasn’t ready for that life 👀. you did an amazing job Kristi as always ❤
Thank you! I was so sad!
Girl it turned out amazing!!! Gosh this whole process gives me anxiety lol thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
From another hairstylist. I thank you for all the info you shared. It helps me so much.
So $200 for the 12 scoops PLUS $220 for the application of the full head. Correct? I’m just trying to figure out my pricing for this technique not including all the root shadow and toning. I’m so bad at figuring out pricing for this technique and your pricing is perfect and explanation of it all in detail is so helpful! Thank you!
Yes, the full head application starts at $200 and goes up with product used. That's kind of the breakdown. But honestly, I think it's easier to charge hourly for these services. For big lightening services like these I charge hourly now. So find what is average for your local area or whatever your value is for yourself..... $75/ hr, $100/ hr...... whatever, and just charge that. I just tell clients it's easier to charge hourly and expect 5-8 hours on average and that will include everything that's needed for the service. So expect to pay $500-$800. Tell them up front and that way there's no surprises and straight away you'll know if their willing to pay or not. TAKE DEPOSITS for new clients
Wowww yessss here for the long videos!!
This is the only professional hair master.. I can listen to do more than five minutes lol.. she totally keeps me learning.and has that awesome voice ..like nice tone..
I knew I could count on you!
Iris I have a man voice! 😂😂😂 you'r too kind!
This is absolutely beautiful. Both the level 8 n the level 5. Beautiful work all around
Thank you!
@@hairbykristijennings6648 youre welcome 🥰
You put your everything in that! And it is gorgeous!!!! 600$ was way more than fair!! Thank you so much for sharing all of your steps, thoughts throughout the entire process!!
It did end up being very pretty both ways...but omg I would have been so upset working that many hours and doing all of that work for her to want to go back down to almost her natural color? Oh no mam! You're wonderful for rolling with the punches and making her happy in the end! And I think 700 is more what you deserved but I'm glafbyou were at least somewhat happy with what you ended up charging. This was an awesome video! Thank you for sharing.... And you're looking great!! 😘
I can’t thank you enough for this video! You covered absolutely every question/concern I had. You’re a goddess! xx
Beautiful result! Curious? Did she have colored hair to start with? I’m wondering why you bleached her whole head instead of just doing some of this with permanent color?
Hello! I actually go over all that in the beginning part of the video......
Your my favourite and im so excited when you upload 😍😍 especially these long videos
Oh good! I was shocked it wasn't over an hour!
I’m so Thankful for your video!! You’re very reasonable and easy to understand.
You’re awesome! I’m so glad I found your channel. You do the best explanations!
Omg gorgeous!! 🔥🔥. Excellent work!
I loved this video!! I love howbu broke everything down and people see that these oixs they bringvus COST money! We are damn near chemist they are paying for our TIME AND MORE IMPORTANTLY out experience and education! 600 was fair but u wouldn't have been wrong if you had charged 800 especially since she changed the color on you once u had finished lol. GREAT JOB IT LOOKED AMAZING 👏🏾 👌 👍🏾 🙌🏾
Both end results looked good. I learn alot from your videos. Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
Bloody marvellous Kristi may I say you are looking fabulous 💚
100/hour sounds fair and you lifted to a whole nother level … hard work should pay off
Kristi you look amazing in this video, I love your hair color & the length . .you look so good, don't change it!!
I would love something like this. Looks beautiful you did an amazing job.
I love it, such a great color you achieved
Love your explanation and logic! Great job!!
Thank you!
Damn I’m loving the blonde on you Kristi!
Oh thank you! My toner faded out lol
Thanks for making so good video. It really helps. Have a question ..Did you do Strand test before you applied bleach on her roots? - Sonal- Karia
Question about using hi lift permanent color blonde. I’m a beginner, I’ve read a few books and have attended a few classes and there is a formula that tells what level of hair color is needed in order to reach the desired level. Example if a NL 3 desired to be a level 7 blonde you would use Level 10 hi lift blonde with 30 vol developer and the results would be a level 7. Have you ever hear of it? Is it worth doing or should you just stick to a bleach out?
I personally would still use bleach..... for the cost alone.
1 box of, say matrix SoColor (a cheaper line) is just under $9.00. Add developer, the product cost alone would be ridiculous for a service like this. I practically used a whole can of bleach on her alone, roughly $25 total with developer / olaplex. The amount of tubes of color to do this service would probably be 5 tubes, at least. The product cost just for that would be roughly $60. I'd have to charge probably $25 / extra bowl of color vs $15/ extra bowl of bleach. That would be about $300 for the client on just extra product charges. Also, hi lift/ permanent color would probably give very hot roots, no matter how much you try to prevent them. I feel like mid section - ends would still not lift very well, also taking into consideration youd have to be 100% sure that it's virgin hair and from my experience, a client thinks they have virgin hair if they haven't colored in the past year or two.... not realizing someone with long hair, that hair could be 5 years old with all that color history from the past 5 years they are forgetting. The truth is client will lie about their hair and I'd hate to do that service and have it not turn out or the ends not lift cause the client forgot about old color on the hair. Another thing too would be I just don't think the hair would get light enough. To get to a level 8/8.5 from a 3, I just don't think permanent color can do it evenly, the root area, maybe a level 7 but I personally don't think it would work. It would be interesting to do it on a model to find out tho.....
Sorry, also I wouldn't want to go over 20 vol on scalp.
Ok technically that might get you to a level 7, but it’s gone be orange af. Do you understand how little pigment is in a level 10 color? And on top of that if you’re using 30 vol you’re getting less deposit. So how are you controlling all of the underlying pigment that you will be exposing in the process? I’m sorry but this makes no sense when you think about it.
Thanks for talking about prices!
We work so hard mentally and physically!
Do you charge a fee for no shows?
That’s such a beautiful gold 😍😍😍😍
Thank you!
Here’s the way I like to explain colour correction price: if I spend 8 hours doing your hair then it needs to be the same price as how much money could’ve made in a day doing multiple clients. That’s why it’s $600/$800 whatever it is
Yes! I started explaining this too! That's why hourly is important!
Love both outcomes !!
Thank you!
You said you had to go with the level 5 for 5mn did you applied all over the hair and did you used 5-0 and I love watching your videos😜💕 I got my cosmetology license but you don’t really learn about this is just how to get your license the steps and everything that you need to need for your test
Oh yes school is just the basics!
At 23:46 I thought it was a mannequin head for a minute there lol 😂😂
Beautiful transformation
Thank you!
So as a newbie, when you say I am gonna mix these colors, do you mix all these colours in the same tub or you would apply these colors seperately in different sections of hair?
Wuhu cannot wait for this. ❤️❤️
Thank you! ♥️♥️♥️
Ooooooo I’ve been excited for this one ;)❤️
Oh good, thank you for watching!
My hair started off around the same color (I’m naturally blonde and used box dye 😩) and the first time I got my hair bleached it turned orange so I got toned a brownish red. I just got it bleached again with foils and she said it turned blonde except the last few inches of my hair which stayed orange. So she put a “chestnut” color toner on. If I had the toner removed do you think it would go back to the bleached color? Or would I need more bleach? Or will Malibu CPR remove the toner color and leave it blonde?
Beautiful transformation!!
It looks fantastic!
She pretty much got her head bleached and toned for $600? The products used on her head weren't over $100. So that's a $500 profit yeah it was pretty but not $600 pretty.....idk... maybe it ain't meant for me to understand .🤷♀️
Great job!!! You are amazing!
Thank you!
Wow you did a beautiful job!!
This is beautifull great job. I wish you could do my hair!
I’m 5 mins in but I LOVE your eyes 😭😍
How to bleach eyebrows to have same colour as the hair?
I have many clients that were not happy with the light ashy blonde even though they asked for it. Makes me so sad of all the hard work I put in. Everyone wants to be ashy, no orange (usually there’s no orange in pictures they sent but they would still see orange) and in the end they were like “it’s too ashy for me” 🤔
Yep! And that's when you charge extra to adjust it. We did our job, I let clients know we can always adjust it if you aren't happy, let me know now before you leave cause it's an easy fix..... now that doesn't mean im not charging for it if I did my job and they just decided they don't like how it looks on them....
Beautiful . Very Beyonce bronde.
Thank you, I learned alot, bravo
Glad to know! Thank you!
Maybe Purple shampoo would help. I know how you feel I go through the same thing. The price is hard to figure out, it's a long process, you want to be nice and everything, you want them to come back. I charge less than what you charged.
The 8 was it! Beautiful
Hello.
Would you mind writing down a comment below the store name you had picked up all the colors?
Thanks.
It’s a salon supply for licensed professionals.
Absolutely beautiful!
love learning from ur videos because it's well informative keep it up!
You rock! Great work!
Ilove you kristi ware from Algérien bravo bon contunation ❤❤❤❤😍
Love your videos !!!
Yep... when I go do my hair, I have asian hair. They never reapply bleach so I end up with orange hair. Now I do my own hair.
And they probably use too big of sections! So frustrating!
I want to go with you to do my hair now! haha
I'm just curious lol but how is the cost of the service calculated to $600ish? is it because of the cost of the all the products and renting the chair (or running a salon)? That just sounds like so much money to be spending on hair especially when your roots are just going to grow back in a couple of weeks. Great video 💕
Not sure if you watched thru the end of the video but I give a price breakdown
Humble bee, this is a luxury professional service, it took 8 hours. Sure there’s overhead costs but You are paying for the advanced skill of the colorist. This isn’t something you can just walk into any salon and have it done properly.
@@azhaircountess9798 THANK YOU!!! Dont understand WHY clients can't understand this!!!
