@kristi I think you are thy best ever stylist I wish I lived near you actually even if I lived in another state I would book you but unfortunately for me I live in Ireland I think you are the most caring funniest stylist because you don't sugar coat it you tell it how is it and the passion shows with every client you transform the time you take doesn't matter as long as it's thy outcome that matters the satisfaction too and your client is happy makes been a stylist thing is with bleach you just don't know every client different so dont be to hard on yourself

I went to cosmetology school in 1987 that's how long I've been a hairstylist I'm just watching you do this color is exhausting LOL anybody that says it took you too long to do that color is not doing it properly I admire and appreciate your professionalism
Thank you for taking the time to share and help educate other stylists

NORMALIZE LONG HAIR APPOINTMENTS! I’m slow too, but I’m also meticulous, and if you want it perfect and bright, yeah it’s gonna take hours! Especially if you have dark hair, and lots of it. You did amazing! 🙌🏻💕

I went to a new stylist. I sent pictures of what I was thinking and my current pic. I let her know my hair was thick, coarse, wavy/curly, a little gray, a couple inches past my shoulders. We decided to make my roots my natural color, a dk brown, and balayage to blonde. She allowed 3 hours but was running 30 minutes behind and had a customer waiting. So my hair is red and there are a couple spots at the very ends that are a little blonde. Instead of having her dry and straightened my hair where I could see the full scope because I didn't want the other girl to have to wait, I told her to just leave it curly. So I messaged her the next day and she is gratefully doing a redo next week. Hopefully my granddaughter will not say "Mimi, why is your hair orange?"😁
      Love to you Kristi

I know this response is years later, but I would caveat that clients should be told how long the appointment is booked for. I used to get a color service with a slower stylist years ago and I never minded the extra time, but the first time I had no idea to plan for it because I had an idea how long that service usually lasted with others. He took on average 2 hours longer than others. After the first time I knew to plan for it, but that first time it threw my whole day into chaos that I was there for hours past when I expected to be.
The don’t know that I’ve ever had a stylist give me a time estimate and while exact times are never known, an estimate would always be good. Especially if we are talking in hours.

Hi- I just watched your video.
First- it’s finally refreshing to see a full video. Keep doing that. I don’t think client realizes how long it take to do good work.
Secondly-I would not have given a final quote on price.
Thirdly- what if...she came back the next day to have a photo you could prove your final look🤷🏼‍♀️
Fourthly- your placements is really good! All your pro-tips were really good.
Don’t beat yourself up. I think she got a steel for the work you did.🤟🏻 and it looks amazing. Light is tough for sure. All hairstylist pet peeve. I will definitely follow more of your work.

Hello! Thank you for watching! Ive had people come back the next day, but it has to be a weekend. I normally wouldn't do that. Id have to re style and hope im booked every day to fit it in.
I think talking about $$$is kinda needed. Clients often have an unrealistic idea of cost and time. Also, other stylists are wanting to know and I think it's good to say , yes you can charge over $200. Just be aware that every location and stylist varies.
      Thank you again for watching!

I think this is the first youtube hair foiling video I've ever fully watched that was over 30 minutes. And your followers are correct, you ABSOLUTELY have the most soothing voice, and so real life, confessing about the bleeders!!! Damn BlondeME always bleeding!! I am just so shook that you got her from level 2 to level 10 in one day.... in just a few hours!! I mean, yeah that was a fudge ton of work and foiling, and rechecking, etc, but it was still possible!!! I am just shocked!! Any time I've gotten highlights without a base break first, I end up with my black hair and tiny specks of gold highlights that need a magnifying glass in order to see!! So we always ALWAYS break my base a couple days before my highlights, or the day before.. I just hate the color the break turns to... no matter what, of course it's super warm, cuz my hair is super dark, coarse, thick, you name it, I feel like I've got double the amount of hair than the girl in your video has so I definitely felt your pain with the lighting situation.. Anyways, sorry for rambling, I really just wanted to say that I absolutely LOVE watching your videos and I'm very glad to have found your channel!! You are amazing!!

Most of my clients have tons of hair level 1-3 and they all want to be blonde. It takes me 6 hrs to 8 when they come in for a full head. That’s twice a year!!!! Don’t be annoyed. Kristi, I’ve been a stylist for 30 yrs, and I wanted to thank you for being normal, meaning your not a high pitched little twit on too much Adderall and the personality of a door stop. I appreciate the fact, your not a gum chewing stereotype, that reminds me why people don’t respect our craft. You’re pretty much the only stylist I can tolerate. THANK YOU FOR remindING all of the talented stylists out there that they are worth every minute they should be paid for a color service. I find it’s a struggle to change people the correct price, because some twit did 3 hours worth of color and charged the guest $150. Remember, color is not a necessity, it is a luxury service., and always talk pricing before you begin and over estimate in case you run into issues that need more time. Also don’t forget to only guarantee your color service if they buy color safe shampoo/conditioner , if they are spending $100s of dollars on their hair, it’s sill to use crappy products on it. Your amazing, I wish I had you in my shop!

When I use a swelling lightener or get that type of hair that no matter how tight the foils are it seems to slip. I started using the cholesterol conditioner to tap at the root after each foil, it was a total game changer. I never had to worry about any bleeding. Hope this helps, I have heard schwarzkopf swelled quite a bit. I loooove the longer videos! =)

Southern California has tons of salons and they charge outrageous amounts of money for doing jobs that take half the amount of time and thats not doing the fine foiling you did with the amount of bleach you had to use. You are a perfectionist so I understand why you were upset but you made the correction you felt you needed to do and the result was beautiful. She got more than her money’s worth 😊

Omg this is nothing else than 110% color perfection from a really professional and educated hairdresser that clearly are 110% perfectionist with your work and gives every client above and beyond. I have learned that about you after watching only 2 videos today. Because it's so obvious this isn't just your 9-5 jobb, this is certainly a passion. Because you make sure not only the clients are happy, but you also need to be before your work of magical art is ready. That fact alone creates the difference between being a professional hairdresser artist like you definitely are 💗 compared to having a job like a hairdresser 9-5 or just being one on paper ect...! after seeing your amazing work and videos $$$ I would gladly pay to get these results from seeing your videos " btw not to long😊" and if you are unsure of what to do ?! I will give you a tips even though I am late 🤓 My tips about long VS short video is to simply TIME STAMP on video when you are editing. For example fast-forward to 49:00 when the bleach foil section started 😊 or if you are divided on long VS short in general you can time stamp..!
I like to see everything, but if you want the general "UA-cam" opinion on how short is to short= under 30 min, but 30-45 min are also normal in longer vlogs= not to long or short. And after 1 hour is often considered Long,or called movie VS episodes or part of a 4 part series ect. And people's livestreams can go on for hours 🤯🤷‍♀️🤓 very confusing, but it's kind of a general idea of what long and short video is on YT. But my advice is to keep on doing you and find your way on the journey, because you are already doing the most important thing to be successful, and that is to ASK question to the viewer's/followers like you do 😊.

Hey! This was the first time I watched one of your videos, came across it on my suggested. Just wanted to say that it was so nice to see someone be so transparent about everything in their videos. Even something as small as you saying that you couldn’t get the lighting right for a good photo, that the bleach swelled and caused a bleed mark, and most of all, how long it took! It’s so nice and almost relieving to hear all of these things being said because it reminds us (well definitely me) that we are not the only ones that go through these complications; these kinds of processes take crazy amounts of time and patients, and that we are not being out of line for charging accordingly and telling clients that “it may take 5,6,7 hours to achieve that ‘instagram result’ that you’re looking for”!
Thank you again for the great video!

Stylists need to hear that these jobs take a long time, and be encouraged to charge their worth. I like being real and showing that imperfections don’t have to ruin a service, just take care of it and it’s not a big deal. Instagram can be so misleading with so many amazing stylists, you look at their work and think..... can I ever get to that point of doing perfect hair? But the truth is we don’t know the process, if any hiccups occurred, maybe it took 10 hours and cost $1,000..... I like letting stylists know the real world has slips and isn’t always a 2 hour service for $150.....

It turned out great... it most definitely can take several hours to achieve certain colors and tones when u are trying to keep the integrity of the hair intact without it melting or breaking off. People don't know there's several shampoos and conditioning plus Reconstructing conditioning treatments in between doing the foiling, double processing and toning. Not to mention the blow dry cut with style. Keep up the great work

Kristi the starting color of her ends are about my same exact color what can I use to tone to a bright blonde not necessarily Ash mine could be a tidbit darker and some places and lighter and some I have the ombre or sombre effect that I did myself I'm actually shopping at Sally's so not sure what on you would think or what level you think that she is at on her ends I love your work I wish there was something that could help me I really need to come and see you I am seriously considering flying out

Love how real you are, likkke, we all get bleeders sometimes and no one in youtube shows it meanwhile it is real life and shit does happen. Even if they say they dont notice it it bothers me too and i have to touch up the spots If they happen. I also agree it fucking sucks when the light is gone and it doesnt show the colour justice lol. I have a question thou, how do you schedule your days, like, you may roughly know a colour may take you 4-5 hours, so do you only book clients every 5 hours? Or just one client a day? How do you book your next client when you have no idea if its gona take4,5,6 plus hours. Do you only take on one client a day? Im just curious! Great job girl🤍🤍

I don't like long "talky" videos HOWEVER, I have no problem watching you You are exceptional because you don't blather on, you articulate each step to the point where I have very few questions at the end. I am thankful for the time you put into explaining why and what you plan to choose for the toner etc.
You must be so exhausted after a long session like that! You did a great job on her hair, too bad for the pictures but naili ng the ighting is just so tricky and not just with hair color but with everything. Even if you do get it perfect, so many people have jacked up settings and /or filters that intefere with the end result anyway so, whatever.

Seeing a hairdresser throughout this quarantine has been hard so I’ve been teaching myself how to do hair but I’m so slow at foiling, it’s frustrating.
I’ve been using 20 vol in the back and 30 vol for the rest but it’s still not all even.
Back combing is also difficult. Any tips for back combing when a clients hair is very wavy and knots very easily?

Still take your time and tell your clients to be patient if they want a good job. Be careful with 30, I rarely use it. It can be damaging. Bleach doesn't often always lighten perfectly, you have to tone it to make it all even.
