Semi-converted short skoolie. But then a tree fell on it... it was basically a 8x15’ room, everything was run off batteries. The plan was to use it to process a feed from a live board so that the band could sell a live recording of the show they just finished playing. It’s not the most original idea but it certainly had some traction (more than those old tires had, ahyuck)
I lived in a weird house In Ruston Way Wa The owner would let my buddy and I use this barn that was not in good shape -had a bunch of mattreses on the walls and a small stage ! He told me other bands had used it a while back! Well ,I would do guitar work in that place and get a unique sound ! We notice it had a weird vibe! We started hearing weird voice type EVP sounds in the background of my guitar recordings when they were isolated in the tracks! That place was haunted folks! Believe me! To make a long story short - Apparently I was living in Krist Novoselics old house and Nirvana practiced Bleach in that Barn! Its where that band laid a lot of ground work! My landlords son verified it to me! Needless to say we made the album but never went back! IDK, It felt like out of respect and it was kind of an honoring thing!
I've built a funny little room above my garage, good enough for guitar or keyboard tracking, and the just do vocals in the living room next door. But "the office" is so jammed in I can't stand up in it.
Andrew, it was an honor to have you out to my studio. Thank you for taking the time showcase the hard word I’ve put into my studio over the past 5 years. I appreciate everything.
You guys should pick up the p16 in ears for the x32 for an all in ear monitor in there. One cat 5 out to the studio and you can get a poe router or even daisey chain them with power adapters. Allows the musicians to hear what they want
Because of this tour, Andrew and I have been inspired to do a barn studio in our backyard! What a spectacular tour. Love the wall of signatures - that will be flooded with memories forever. TIP: Pieces that are completely full, you can get 'earthpaint' (nontoxic but best quality) sealer and seal it in so it never wears away. The marine paint is their most heavy-duty. Anyway, great setup guys. Loved this.
John Newton IV Oh I’m sure we will hit you up haha. Your wood work is exceptional! Again, congrats on your spot; it’s as beautiful as it is useful/functional!
Wow, a UA-camr who's not an absolute douche, is chill, talented and can back it up, has taste, AND an engineer who's channel actually sounds great. What a concept! Subscribed!
I didn’t know I wanted one like this...now...I want one too! Very cool how it’s kind of like if you can’t go out to see live music, you bring the live music to the people!!!
I saw that gorgeous dress in your profile pic and had to check out your channel! I'm glad I did because your videos are awesome; your voice is spectacular. Congrats on your success. :D
You should also consider looking at using shipping containers for your "barn" build that way you can transport it all should you ever move in the future. You can cut a wall out and combine multiple containers for width. You can even put wood veneers on the outside walls to hide the metal! That's what I'm planning on doing for my build! If you search "shipping container home" or "shipping container studio" on google you'll get some ideas. Love these videos, keep it up man!
Shipping containers are a great idea! Harder to get approval for it, but they are great options, for sure. Just make sure you get a lead-free one :) (XRF test it before purchase).
@@AndrewMasters It really did! Its is just spectacular and original! Its seems like that barn has great vibes everywhere! I can tell amazing music will be made ! Love the show! People are just getting so creative and more aware of how much the surroundings matter !

Love this content bro! I have a studio in my home here in Sweden, and your studio tours give me so much inspiration, keep doing this kind of videos man! They awesome! Peace from Sweden 😎🤟🏻
Wow. Nostalgia city. I built a room in a garage very similar to this before these guys were born. Teac 3340 and 3300, etc. The tech has changed but not the desire for a nice cave! Is there rockwool behind the wood slats?

Que hermoso lugar ❤ debe ser un lugar magnifico para crear. Pondría ventanas para poder observar el exterior y aprovechar esa inspiración natural. Saludos Andrew. Amo tu canal.
John is pretty much a genius When it comes to audio video anything technical. He is also an extremely talented musician. He can play guitar bass keys many different styles. Plus a really hard worker. John is a man who doesn’t have time to be worried about petty things like that. I wonder how awkward you really are in real person?

I have the same interface as you, but I am still wondering how I should proceed to let multiple people record while hearing themselves? Should I just get a headphone amp with like 8 channels, and how do I connect it?
you can get a headphone amp and run the line outs from to apollo to it, you can find 8 channel trs snakes for cheap that will let you run all the channels
What did they do for ventilation? I see the air con/heater on the wall but. what about the. actual exchange of fresh air in and out? I am currently building my studio and have been quoted silly money for ventilation. I already spent WAY more than I intended on air con/heating lol
Jarrett James Music makes sense, just thought it was odd seeing that it’s such a nice high end studio. I use those myself because they work great but I’m also broke lol.
What's the strangest or coolest spot you've had a studio setup?

Excellent acoustics for a vocal booth haha.
Looks so good, and inspiring to perform in that space. Just gave me some ideas for my basement studio - Thanks!

Great Studio concept 👍
It really is!
I love it except for all the grey coloring is the Cure recording there???
Yes. Yes indeed.
So how are you keeping the A/C unit as quiet as possible during recording? I assume you aren't shutting it off.
The ac works very well and the studio is insulated very well. We keep it off a lot and the room stays a comfortable temperature

Gotta get that dirty room sound

Dirt Floor Studios started in a barn.
what are the dimensions of the barn?
24’ x 24’
My dream is to have a studio in a barn !! Sadly there isn't too many of them in Scotland :(
Do you know what the size of his building is
i think its roughly 24ft square on the exterior but the interior is divided so not exact on the inside
24x24 building. Control room is 14 ft by 8 with a diagonal wall. 5x8 bathroom.

So he’s sporting a 100k studio and rocking rockit 5’s or 8’s? Seems like an oddly inexpensive choice.
Rockit 5s are magic.
This was no where near a 100k studio. I bought my house for $119,000. It came with a barn in the backyard. I put about $20k into it.
