I love the idea of this studio layout and I'm sure instruments being tracked in that room sound fantastic. However, listening to him talk through a lav mic when he was at his desk you can hear a lot of verb from the room bleeding in. There is zero doubt that's a pretty ambient room even just with voice. I can't imagine trying to do critical adjustments/mixing in that environment. I do like the idea of a working space like this though.
This is great! Thank you! I love the vibes and construction of the space. I’ve been dreaming about building something similar myself! My favorite part was you just giving a couple examples from a current session! Thanks!
Lol.. Just started out learning how to mix and I built my own little studio but my studio is like stardates away from what this is... ALL I got is a x32 compact with a stagebox and a pm300 amplifier... Well and a daw but still im not even near this... (side note.. If I get more stuff my wife is gonna throw me out in the yard to sleep AT nights.. And we dont even have a yard 🧐)
If you are panning the stereo mic acoustics hard left and right, why track in stereo? Or why keep both tracks? Dont you get any issues vs a mono source?
I track them in stereo for flexibility in the mix. When mixing I’ll decide exact panning and if both mics will stay. When tracking I place the mics where I want them from a phase perspective so they will work well as a wide stereo pair or mono right on top of each other panning wise.
Once you learn to separate the room reverb from your efx reverb it’s great. The room is completely flat due to its size so getting levels are easy! I love mixing here!
Great video ! What a beautiful space, all this wood, those stories, i love that. I have never seen those Optimod TV limiters, these look incredible, i wish you could make us hear those a little bit. Thank you very much for the tour. Greetings from France, love to the adorable Maxine.
Wow, even over my little iPad, I can hear how big and separated all of the instruments sound, what a beautiful studio 👍
Why do you have the huge podcast/subscribe ad in the corner there, blocking so much of that wonderful place of yours?
Everything sounds so big!!!!!
