  • In a 1993 NFL Thanksgiving game between the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions, Bears punter Chris Gardocki had a punt that traveled four yards. It might be the greatest four-yard punt of all-time. This is the story behind the remarkable play

Hey brother, Chris is my dad, he really enjoyed this video; hard to find footage like this of obscure plays anymore, he hadn’t seen it in 25 years; just wanted to say thanks and keep it up

Cole, my dad, Wade Elliott, went to Redan with Chris in 8th grade and played with him on that team. He is showing me your dad's one step punting teaching me what your dad taught him in 8th grade.

i was actually sad when the bears let go of gardocki. when i would punt a football in gym class, id say "gardocki" like kids shooting a basketball would say "jordan" or "kobe" cuz i also punt lefty

Cole, your father is one if the greatest punters I have ever seen and hasa great career, with the Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection with the Colts and the Súper Bowl ring with the Steelers.

Cole: I'm a Clemson Grad and we have always considered your dad to be a phenomenal athlete. Definitely one of our pride and joy. Please thank him for me.

This was the Bears’ only win at the Silverdome in the 90s

He never had a blocked punt in his career. Pretty amazing.

When I realized that he was the subject of this video, that's exactly what I thought about.

So Brett Favre can thank Chris Gardocki for his legendary pass to Sterling Sharpe in the 1993 Wild card round?

I figured that Gardocki could be a star when I saw him punt at Clemson. He's one of the all-time greats in the sport.

This is why this is one of the best channels on UA-cam. I totally forgot this. So much fun to travel down memory lane.

I think that was a great play by Gardocki, not only to even get the punt off but to kick it in-bounds, and to the middle of the field. Exceptional athletic play.
Ha ha, almost every Bears game was low scoring, as they only put up 20 points or more in 3 games (winning 2). Offense was in a depressed state throughout the NFL in 1993, and the Bears were one of the big contributors of that, with their stout D (which could put the ball in the endzone themselves) but meager O (they couldn't run or pass very well).

Magnificent! I remember reading about this play in the NFL Record and Fact book, but I hadn't seen it until now. One of the great punts, of any length.

You mentioned "saving the best for last" in respect to Obee. How about a video on "saving the best for ONLY," the story of Percy Howard of the Dallas Cowboys?
I met Howard and hung out with him one evening, back in about 1990, when I was working in a bar and he was working for a beer distributor. Nice guy.

The Bears made the playoffs in 1994 and you forgot to mention the Bucs who sat in 5th place in the NFC Central with a 2-8 record.

it's impressive how Michael Dickson did something similar but punted it 68 yards

  • @kielmaguire5121

Ok that was great, now is it better than Michael Dickson's blocked punt he scoops up with 1 hand on the punts again yards? No, do a video on that. Thats the best punt ever

Hey, I know you're trying to promote yourself since you're still starting out, but those animations in the beginning last a LONG time and because they're so large and animated are very distracting, especially the scrolling text... Then you do more of them again 2/3 through... Then you devote the last minute or so to promotion. I'm not trying to be mean, but it makes the video feel amateurish and detracts from the great content significantly, in my opinion.

I was thinking about how things would've gone if the Lions secured the #2 seed. First off, that would mean that the 49ers would host the Packers, and with mike Holmgren head coaching & Fritz Shurmur running the defense (Surmurs defenses gave the 49ers problems at times, even when he was with the Cardinals), I'm not exactly sure the 49ers get out of the Wild Card round. The Packers would still face the Cowboys, so that would stay the same, but the Lions? They'd play the winner of Vikings/Giants (I'd still say the giants win that one), and I think the giants would take 'em, leading to a Giants/Cowboys NFC Championship Game, which I still think the Cowboys win (Dan Reeves usually came up with something special for the Cowboys, but I believe the Cowboys would be too much for them in that spot).

Good stuff AGAIN. Keep promoting yourself as much as you can. It's ur F'ing channel & it's the best NFL channel going. 👍🏈 Only my pitiful Lions would lose a crappy game like that. Lol
