- In a 1981 NFL Thanksgiving game between the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys, after Danny White got hurt, Glenn Carano came off of the bench with the goal of guiding the Cowboys to victory. He did just that. This is the story behind Glenn Carano's heroic performance on Thanksgiving Day 1981. Note that one part had to be removed, which was a snip-it at the beginning explaining Jason Garrett's iconic performance on Thanksgiving in 1994; it is just an introduction that does not implicate the main story at all.

Great footage. The ''C' in Carano is hard, however. And the division winners did not realky get a bye, but rather two wildcards had an elimination game to determine which one played in the divisional round.
If I remember the story right, the Cowboys were so impressed with Carano that in 1979 The Cowboys drafted TE Doug Cosbie over a QB from Notre Dame that the Cowboys had at that time the best player available on their draft board. How history might have changed if they drafted Joe Montana instead.
Of course Joe Montana would have lead the Cowboys to many victories, but Doug Cosbie was an awesome TE.
Yes, that's my understanding as well. Instead, the Cowboys picked up Gary Hogeboom (who's name no one could pronounce) in the 5th round and although he was good enough to take Carano's spot and eventually Danny White's in 1984, he was certainly not the answer.

Glenn Carano only threw for 51 yards. Dallas also got got a 59 yard pass from Drew Pearson to James Jones. Dallas didn't need much from the passing game on the way to a 37-13 win because they had 354 yards rushing.
And lowly Baltimore started backup QB David Humm, who was picked off on his first play. Never was a contest.

This game made me wanna barf my Turkey up, much like 1980, the Bears were an extremely frustrating team to look at in '81. Chicago is the only team that could knock out the starting QB, and still figure out a way to lose...reminds me of '68's season finale against the Packers. I still can't believe Don Horn (of all QB's) eliminated the Bears title hopes.

His last name is not Serano, its Carano. Recall your 5th grade english. C "only" has a S sound when followed by an e, i, or y. Like cent, city, or cyst. Otherwise it ALWAYS has a C sound. Cat, Cot, Cut, Cross, because its not followed by: e, i, or y.

Like other commenters have said, Gina Carano is Glenn's daughter. Also Danny White's dad is Byron "Whizzer" White who is in the College Football Hall of Fame, NFL all-pro, was awarded 2 bronze stars while in WWII, U.S. Deputy Attorney General, and a Supreme Court Justice. Ron Springs son is Shawn Springs who was an All-American college player and an NFL All-Pro, Tony Dorsetts' son Anthony Dorsett also played in the NFL. Another Cowboy who wasn't in this game, Calvin Hill is the father of NBA great Grant Hill. Amazing bloodlines, to say the least.

So did this guy acknowledge anywhere in the comments section that he was mispronouncing Carano's name the entire video?
Reason I ask is, I have a personal rule that I refuse to subscribe to UA-cam channels where the owner does not interact with his viewers. I don't expect them to respond to every single question, although there are channel owners who do, but they should at least respond to some questions. Or in the case of this video, he should have issued an apology or correction.
Serrano was the guy who couldn’t hit a curve ball. He was also a mob boss in Vegas and Chicago.

I attended a Cowboys practice on a Saturday prior to their home game against the Giants in 1981. I was a 14 year-old kid having the time of my life mingling with my football idols and of course, getting autographs from at least 38 players. Glen Carano was the only player who didn't sign for me. He smirked, claimed to be sick and ran to his car. I felt that he was extremely rude.
