    I shark fish in Jacksonville, FL and have been experimenting with all kinds of setups, from 360 lb wire to 280 lb mono but this makes the most sense. Less Expensive than wire by itself, good twists and knots, and if the shark does twist the skin won't break the wire. I've caught sharks from 3' to 7' off the beaches and piers and tried many things, but I like this the most. Thank you!

    • @YakinwithJack

      I’m using 65 pound braid on mine reel. And the leader I’m using is 12-18 inches of wire followed by 4-5feet of mono. You can make it shorter if you like if you’re casting your baits out

    Does the sliding sinker and upper bead get caught up on the knot between the 100# mono and your braid main line? Even with an FG knot, won't that catch the bead?

    • @YakinwithJack

      Yes the bead catches the bead. I use the fog knot so I can reel up some of the leader so I can cast better

    I’ve heard that when sharks feel weight they drop your bait, is it bad for the FG knot to stop the sliding weight? Or is it fine different because the leader is several feet long?

    • @YakinwithJack
      @YakinwithJack  4 роки тому

      This is true some sharks do but when I’m surf casting I use a small enough bait for the shark to inhale in on bite. You don’t wanna use as big bait

    What is the purpose of the mono leader? Will a nail knot work or is the fg knot essential to the rig?
