To this day, the largest fish I have ever caught came from this area in 1980. A southern stingray that went about 150. It was a monsta! Now, prior to hurricane Alicia in 83 there was another beach out there separated by a channel. You drove out towards the base of the south jetty and then turned back north out onto this peninsula/beach. There was a platform out there in waist deep water-an old navigational signpost for the channel. My buddies took old plywood out there and put a deck on top of that platform. So, we would climb up there with our surf rods and cast out into the channel. Used 5 gallon buckets for tackle box/seating. I was on top of that platform when I caught that giant ray. Almost spooled me. I was using a Penn Jigmaster on a custom 10' gold Fenwick. Good times!
Great vid Bomber. Love the rig up in the opener. I've been to that spot a million times, but its all about the technique that turns it from a hardhead spot to a gamefish spot. Outstanding.
It really don't matter a damn how you make your rigs as long as they help you catch fish. This ain't no fashion show. You want pretty then go read one of them magazines. Sometimes the fugliest lure or rig wins the day so don't knock it till you've tried it. Another great video!
I love fishing the Sabine Pass ship channel. It holds mostly all bulls. We fish the Texas side at Keith lake, and throw just before the bridge. I sent you pics of my bulls. McFadden Beach has monsters too. Plus 100 to 200 lb rays. Awesome fishing. Thanks for the great vids...
Great video for Father’s day! We really appreciate you included how you make your leaders. I wouldn’t worry about critics. It’s so silly and unproductive. These leaders clearly are working for you. The fact you share your knowledge and experience will hopefully make me and others better. I’ve already seen a couple of things I will incorporate on my leaders. Thank you so much!
Hi. I'm from Johannesburg, South Africa. Im an avid fan of your channel. Always amazed when watching your videos. Well recorded and great presentations.
I’ve been thinking about making my own rigs, I really enjoyed that part of the video. You catch enough big fish that I trust your knowledge. You are the man!!
Happy Father's Day! Sharks are thick at Bryan/Quintana Beach in Freeport. Caught a 5' Blacktip on a 7' med heavy w/ 20lb braid & 3000 Reel while catching Flounder Then guys all around us started catching Blacktips, Bonnetheads, Bullreds. It was crazy
Don't worry about those "reel whiners" out there, the reel deal fisherman know your Elite AF. Great catch strategy and preparation pays off and it shows.
What kind of leader would be good for like red fish? I'm fairly new to salt water fishing and surf fishing. Are there certain rigs that work better. I know double drop rigs are good but if I want to catch a oversized red what should I be looking for?

Question @Beachboomerfishing so im a freshwater fisher being as tho Im from Philly and we only have rivers and streams but trying to transition into some saltwater when the opportunities allows i.e family vacays, weekend getaways ect. Just wondering what type of line test do you run on your mainline with such heavy leaders? Last summer while on vacation @ OCMD I HOOKED onto something extremely BIG using fresh croaker and 3-5min into battle got cut off twice... i was soooo SICK! I normally run 40lbs braid mainline with 50-60lbs mono leaders...for my everyday type of fishing. Definitely appreciate the step by step tutorial in this vid... and have each item in my shopping cart. Just need to know what mainline test you run so I can order that while I'm at it...lol Cuz I DEFINITELY need to get a 6ft shark off the BUCKET LIST & ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. 💯
I've got a rig with 150 pound shock leader, 135 pound surfstrand wire and an 8/0 hook on one, 6/0 on another. You got a lot thicker stuff there than me, do you think they'll be able to chew through the leader?
So that 400lb outrigger line is what you make shark leaders with? I'm going to Florida in a couple weeks and wanna target sharks. I'm not after a giant hammerhead or a maneater bullshark. I just wanna make leaders that won't pop first time I lay into them. I already got the 400lb line from making decoy lines and all the stuff for crimping. I just was wondering if cable/wire is the way to go or that 400lb line will do the job
wow awesome 👏 that was a nice catch bro… oh man I wish I knew how to make my own leaders, I would save lots of money. Good job on your own handmade gear 👍
I have watched a half dozen or so UA-cam videos in the past 48 hours in which guys are showing how they tie (build?) rigs for bull red drum and shark; yours is the first that I have watched that incorporates the leader sleeve (?). What is the purpose/rationale behind including it? Thanks and tight lines!
Hi Bomber, Great Video as usual and nice catch. I am Saudi and we fish for heavy monsters in Saudi too. How do you deal with Rocky areas? Braid can be snagged and lost. Do you recommend using float when ur bait is around 500 yards? Another thing aren't you concerned about losing your braid line because of the crossing ships and boats? (Braid usually floats on the water). We had incidents where anglors lost thier fishing gear in the sea and others have to cut the line quickly because it got hunged in a boat!
I have people criticize my knots and my leaders. Still be catching fish though lol. Haven’t lost a fish to either of them being bad. Great vid my dude. Going to have to change your name to G Town Shark Hunter or something.
Lol.. loved the part of the leader where he said people will said something lol... wouldnt will be good to put the hook on a swivel that way it won twist the leader when u catch a fish?>
@@BeachBomberFishing if this helps I used a whiting cut in half on a custom double drop ..whiting was huge But thanks And like the newer style of content you're putting out there
@@BeachBomberFishing sure they can easily be caught on your custom leaders you made in this video... I was going to share with you one thing incase you didn't know...if you're ever dropping bait with a drone and the current is ripping ...one thing that helps when #TheGirlInYellowRainCoat are dropping bait is lowering the drone as close to the water as you can safely before releasing your care package lol....idk why but this usually seems to help us to get that weight to stick

I once saw a jeep with a snorkel drive out to the first sandbar there. I was bewildered.
No way lmfao!!?? It is very dee0 right after that sandbar too.
@@BeachBomberFishing The tide was very low so the bar was pretty much exposed, guess that's what gave them the confidence to see where to stop lol
Finally found out in the video what the drone does lol how far do you take the drone out before dropping bait?
I basically drop about 300 yards. I just eye the spool and line.

What’s some good surf conevtional for small sharks and reds for under 200
