- Learn how to make a big game shark leader. This leader is meant to handle any beast the ocean has to offer. We are using 800 pound mono, 900 pound coated cable, 16/O - 28/O circle hooks, 1200 pound swivels, heavy duty clips, rattles and crimps. About a week ago i bought mine , 250 pound mono woth 275 pound bite leader, the 49 strand wire, and did 300 pound swivel because why not lol, i have it on a penn squall 50 Level wind and 100 pound braid, hopefully ill catch something,

@@pheonix7348 i actually have another combo , the Penn squall 50 lever drag with Penn conventional rod, with the same leader I mentioned before, I caught a 5 foot sandbar shark on it about a month ago

Great video so question! I’m a fresh water guy never fished salt water so my question is, is why is the leader heavier then the mono? Usually wouldn’t you want a lighter leader material so if you broke off you’d look just the leader and not the whole rig? And again great video! Thanks!👍🏼
The monos is almost not ever going to break the only thing to fail is your barrel swivels or the wire

Awesome video! Just a question. So you have hook, cable, swivel, mono, then another swivel.
What is the 800lb mono for? Why not just add the swivel to the main line? So hook, cable, swivel, main line? Thanks man!
So the reason for cable to mono
Cable is the bite leader so it can’t bite through
The mono is the rub leader so the sharks skin can rub on it and still not cut off

These are rigs meant for use from the beach for boat and offshore we run completely different rigs and setups
I just bought some 800lb leader line. Quick question…what size snap swivel did you end up using that free slides down the mono line, but also won’t go over the top of the aluminum crimp?
Check the inside diameter of the mono make sure it’s bigger then the mono and smaller then the crimp
Yeah I get that, but I don’t have a saltwater fishing shop near me, and all of the snap swivels online measure everything in OT sizing, and not actual MM sizing, so I can’t be sure I’m blind purchasing the correct product.
Which is why I’m asking what size snap swivel they’re using in the video.
