Ironically enough, when my skin was dry and dehydrated and I had very few blemishes and I thought I was doing ok. No skincare to speak of either. But last summer when my GP told me that the tiny bumps on my nose were rosacea, a kind of acne he said, I started a journey to a full skincare routine now that has made my skin incredibly healthy and dewy at all times, on which makeup sits nicely (didn't wear makeup for years on the dry skin). BUT now I get the occasional normal pimple...... and I don't really care about it like I thought I would. I'm not even half a year into retinol and other acne preventing ingredients so I'm hoping that the spots decrease in frequency over time anyway. Regardless, even if there are a few of them at one time, or a breakout of sorts, the rest of my skin is so nice that it's not as noticeable as it was before when my whole face (I now realize) looked unwell and irritated from dryness. Also, they are way easier to spot conceal now that the skin is healthy and takes to makeup. So even a no-fullface-makeup day doesn't have to reveal the breakout.

@@-postapokalypso-7289 if I didn’t give a shit about my skin it would break out so bad you have no idea. I’m sure you meant when people don’t use 200 products per day their skin does better and that’s true! I’ve been using cerave or cetaphil and differin plus drinking green tea and plenty of water and my skin is getting so much better. No toners with 3 moisturizers or god knows how many more products some influencers use 🥴
@@denissemedina4619 Yeah not saying it's not different for everyone. Some people need to take care more than others but I guess noone needs 200 products xD
Most of my life I just washed my face with water and used different oils as a moisturizer. When I turned 39 I started trying more skin care products such as hyaluronic acid and vitamin c serums. I didn’t tell my husband what I was doing but a few weeks after I started he commented that my skin wasn’t looking as great as it normally did. Whenever I try something new and made specifically for skincare it ends up not helping but hurting my skin.
I’m a nurse and hydrocolloid dressing’s are amazing for wound care depending on the wound of course. it tends to keep the skin hydrated in the way that it draws out excess moisture or drainage but does not allow the wound bed to dry out so it’s optimal for granulation tissue.
Besides my parents when I was a child, I rediscovered slugging as a young adult and I love it. Makes my chocolate skin glow in a relly pretty way combined with drinking lots of water. Aquafor is my favorite.
I recently found your channel and I’m obsessed. I think I’ve learned more from just watching your banter than I ever have from my 15+ years of having a skin care routine and seeing multiple dermatologists
Dr. Shah "Don't put vaseline on over your retinols." .... Me watching this as I sit here using vaseline for the first time ever after putting my tretinoin on. "Oh."
I think what you should do is putting on tretinoin one day, and then vaseline the other day. So not on the same day, unless you use tretinoin every day 😭
@@Lana.a_ I actually don't have any dryness from the tretinoin. I use the Cerave moisturizer or the aveeno gel moisturizer and never have issues with dry skin anymore. I have gone too far in the past and now if I think I might be noticing it is getting sensitive I will skip a few days. I tried the vaseline because I have been seeing so many thing about it as a moisturizer however it did make my skin itchy. It is ver yvery occlusive and I have very reactive skin.
I put QV intensive heeling ointment over tretinoin every night and haven't had any issues yet. But I've been using tretinoin for a while now, so I think my skin is just used to it.
Just fyi: Vaseline itself doesn't moisturize. It just creates a barrier over your skin while your skin does its thing. So it's your own skin's moisture, not anything added to it. Imo, find a quality moisturizer that will let your skin breathe freely. Good luck 👍
It is literally oil to help it go out of the skin.. Nothing more... There's no point to buy 80 € lash serum.. You can just put on any oil and it gona do the same job
I love these guys because they don’t just throw a load of words around and you have to go do loads of research afterwards to have any sort of understanding. It’s just straightforward advise that doesn’t feel cultish, like if something works then you can use it if you feel like it
The two of you together make this so fun to watch. It's fun to see you bounce things off of each other and agree or disagree, all while educating. So, thanks! :)
Could you do a video on hyperpigmentation on the body (especially for poc). And the best treatments/preventions as I can’t find anything informative out there. Thank you 😊
My grandfather was an iron worker, as I am 64 that was obviously a long time ago. Sometimes he would get "welding burns" to his eyes. Per my grandmother to help with this she would grate a potato, wrap in moist cloth, cool and apply to eyelids. According to her it definitely helped.
It really is a great channel and such invaluable, useful info! Please be careful with the Just for Men (or any haircolor) near the eye area like the good doctors mentioned, especially due to the hair dye possibly causing severe eye irritation and/or blindness if it gets in the eye.
My best friend's mother had only used Vaseline on her face her entire life. What I noticed about her skin at 85 was that she had no wrinkles. She really looked amazing for her age.
the best and only right decision i ever made was starting to wear sunscreen when i was 11 because my mom used to apply it on me and now i am about to be 18 this may and i can proudly say that i never stopped applying sunscreen literally everyday since than

I have told you before, but I'll say it again: I love the content that you produce! It is very practical. I would love for you to do a video on hair dye and also nail care. Speaking of hair dye, I thought I was allergic to it, but then I realized I was getting it on my skin without washing off my non-mineral sunscreen, first. I tried slugging with the Cerave ointment and I hated it. For some reason, it made my face really hot and was driving me crazy. At least the jar didn't get wasted because I discovered I absolutely love it as a moisturizer for my legs.
Yes to all things hair please!! I feel like my hair only reaches a certain length and then just stops growing, I would love to grow my hair long without breakage!
Please do a video on rosehip oil! I have sensitive, acne prone, drier skin, and I swear it’s been a god send. I notice a difference if I don’t use it, for sure - I layer it with my regular cerave moisturizing cream. I had no idea there was a retinol compound in it, and started using it kind of on a whim as my first dip into face oils & have loved it ever since! Love this channel - it’s quickly become one of my favorites :)
@@gianninal5455 I have seen the same results using Rosehip oil (just the like face oil stuff in a little dropper bottle thing hahah) The brand I use is called Sukin, it's Australian :)

idk if this helps, but i observed that eating more eggs and drinking more milk made my nails stronger. I am a frequent isopropyl alcohol user, my family's assigned dishwasher, and never had broken nails and hangnails. the drawback: more acne due to dairy. will switch to plant-based milks now
Thank you for the advice about avoiding layering ointment over retinol. I had been doing this during the winter and developed irritation under my right eye. I stopped the routine but wasn’t exactly sure which component was causing the skin irritation. This is useful information.
YESSSSSS I have acanthosis nigricans thanks to my PCOS (my insulin levels are fine) and my old dermatologist (who has terrible ratings, only sees people for thirty seconds, and misdiagnosed my dermatitis and led to my face getting SO MUCH WORSE) just went “I don’t know, try scrubbing it harder.”

I will continue to watch your vids. I went off a Biologic I was taking for psoriasis. Steroids can be a miracle & a nightmare. My favorite tx for scars, dry skin & plain protection is J & J no more tears baby shampoo & vaseline. My eye Dr has always emphasized using Johnson's shampoo to cleanse the eyes w/warm water & a dab on a square or round. Conjunctivitis goes away quickly & don't cross contaminate. Thx for a fun & practical video. You guys are great & love what you do.
Hi you guys are amazing! Thank you for making physician-recommended content freely available. It would be so helpful to see a realistic breakdown of procedures and treatments. Botox for fine lines, fillers, laser, dermabrasion, etc etc along with which demographics are best suited to each, cost (although I know this varies by geography, practice, etc), how long effects last, all that good stuff. Thank you!
Hydrocolloids for a wound aren’t meant to be used after use overnight though. It helps with wound healing in part by protecting the wound and keeping the wound moist without over saturating it. It can also stay on for 3-5 days so the wound isn’t being traumatized by daily dressing changes and cleansing. I only mention this because I love hydrocolloids too but the way that girl has used it can be irritating especially to the skin around the blemishes that does not need it. Spot treating the small areas is a much better plan like Doc has said.
i heard of someone using a hole punch to get small pieces of a hydrocolloid patch so they can get the most of of a hydrocolloid patch without having to pay for a skincare patch

Either way,, I find your videos both worth my free time and edifying at the same time. It didn’t do anything for me. Made my skin oilier didn’t clear any break outs. I started using Differin with a nice water based moisturizer and my skin looks great now. But it definitely can dry out your skin.
@@jessicasharpe1925 differin is too irritating for me. it over exfoliated my skin within days and caused patches of irritation and caused all the products I used to BURN. The salicylic acid is really gentle for a chemical exfoliant. I can’t use a lot of products bc my skins too sensitive.
@@laciemichelle6784 I struggled with Differing at first and stopped using it, but after following Dr. Dray's routine of moisturizing first, then applying it after applying aquaphor to the eyelids, lips, and around the nose, I am able to use it and it's working great.
That particular exfoliant didn't work for me, but the 2.5% benzoyl peroxide from their "Clear" line is awesome. If you want to go back to basic ingredients but you've had bad luck with drugstore products, Paula's choice is definitely the way to go.

Potatoes were used and mentioned in Home Maker Magazines of the 1860’s. To draw out a splinter, before eating anything or drinking, chew a piece of raw potato to make a poultice and leave for a few hours and splinters are drawn to where you can withdraw easier. Pimples, cuts headaches too.
After years of struggling with all kinds of skin problem, I have finally come to the conclusion : Regular sleep (no phone in bed), drink lot of water, no tanning or excessive sun exposure, minimal and gentle skincare products (only moisturizer, cleanser, sunscreen and one treatment product like retinol). Hi! 🙋♀️I'm an esthetician in NY and absolutely love you two for guidance in our industry. You are so relatable and fun to watch! Definitely a FAN!!
I feel like most hacks actually just force people to LEAVE THEIR SKIN ALONE so it heals more quickly.
Would make sense. Ive seen loads of people with wonderful skin, who were those kinds of people that didnt give a shit about their looks in general, maybe they just dont torture it :D
‘I’m stronger’ 💪💪
‘Not mentally’ 😂😂
Hello begonia, how are you?
@@denniswilliam8867 gosh.
Thanks! I heard aquafore is amazing. Do you use awuafore over you’re regular moisturizer?
@@hopelyle6222 well putting a moisture better increases the time of activity so if you put it over it will be like using a higher dose.
Good luck 👍
Speaking about hair growth, can you also address how lash serums work on making lashes longer? Love your videos and content!
I would love to know what growth serum need to have in them to work, cause some are 40$ and some are 100$???
Ohh yes! One made my eyelashes fall out. Scared to try any others
And eyebrow growth serums!
It is literally oil to help it go out of the skin.. Nothing more... There's no point to buy 80 € lash serum.. You can just put on any oil and it gona do the same job
Keeps them from shedding as quickly
Love how they both look back at each other for validation or to see if they agree on such topic once they are done giving their pov
I love these guys because they don’t just throw a load of words around and you have to go do loads of research afterwards to have any sort of understanding. It’s just straightforward advise that doesn’t feel cultish, like if something works then you can use it if you feel like it
Could y’all make a video on the best body washes, shampoo, and conditioners for different body and hair types
Check out brad mondo he definitely has all hair videos even for curly hair
omg yes!
Yes, for anything related to your hair ... see Brad Mondo videos on UA-cam. ( he's a professional 👏)
The two of you together make this so fun to watch. It's fun to see you bounce things off of each other and agree or disagree, all while educating. So, thanks! :)
Yes, please do a hair video!!! Scalp conditions and hair loss. Thank you!
Yes to hair loss video 🥰
Aww how adorable is Dr. Maxfield when he waved at the video when the girl waved bye. My heart 🥲
You guys are the best, no nonsense, real, & I love it.
We need a how to get rid of stretch marks and dark spots video! My post pregnancy belly is crying for help
@Caroline Sutton what about bio oil?
Could you do a video on hyperpigmentation on the body (especially for poc). And the best treatments/preventions as I can’t find anything informative out there. Thank you 😊
You should take a look @dr vanita rattan. Her entire channel is dedicated to skin of colour and she has lots of advice on hyper pigmentation!
Check on Dr Hani’s vid on hyperpigmentation. It works !
4:58 I love how Dr. Maxfield waves back 😂
My grandfather was an iron worker, as I am 64 that was obviously a long time ago. Sometimes he would get "welding burns" to his eyes. Per my grandmother to help with this she would grate a potato, wrap in moist cloth, cool and apply to eyelids. According to her it definitely helped.
I’ve used Just for Men for years on my eyebrows. Thanks for confirming it works. I love this channel!
It really is a great channel and such invaluable, useful info! Please be careful with the Just for Men (or any haircolor) near the eye area like the good doctors mentioned, especially due to the hair dye possibly causing severe eye irritation and/or blindness if it gets in the eye.
Love how y’all deliver your content, it’s informative and comedic. Love your vibe.
They are so entertaining but also I learn something every time I watch a video. I think they need their own show 🤗

My best friend's mother had only used Vaseline on her face her entire life. What I noticed about her skin at 85 was that she had no wrinkles. She really looked amazing for her age.
Exactly. It's the best skin protectant on Earth. But it's so cheap people don't believe it works!
My gramma used it every night
How cute was it when Dr. Maxfield waved back at the baking soda video girl 😁 👋🏼
the best and only right decision i ever made was starting to wear sunscreen when i was 11 because my mom used to apply it on me and now i am about to be 18 this may and i can proudly say that i never stopped applying sunscreen literally everyday since than
“Dr Maxfield has never had an original thought in his life”. Oooooft I felt that 😂

I hope people know I was joking haha
@@Doctorly We did! 😊
I think the chemicals in the dye and my sunscreen didn't mix well.
Check brad mando for hair dye and care
Yassss to the hair videos! I want to know what actually helps hair growth.
You guys are great! Love the humour that you infuse into every one of your videos .... and guys, that's exactly why your channel has grown! Next stop ... the moon for you guys! As an almost 70yo person who does her best to have the best looking skin in the crematorium... when I eventually get there ... Thanks for making skincare fun. From a new Aussie fan.
I use vaseline at night around my eyes and lips and I literally have no wrinkles there or anywhere, the eyebrow hack also works really well too.

I tried slugging with the Cerave ointment and I hated it. For some reason, it made my face really hot and was driving me crazy. At least the jar didn't get wasted because I discovered I absolutely love it as a moisturizer for my legs.
Hhahahha all skincare junkies do this too, it doesn't work? ON THE LEGS IT GOES

Yes to all things hair please!! I feel like my hair only reaches a certain length and then just stops growing, I would love to grow my hair long without breakage!
I read somewhere that every hair has its own a desired length and growing it out longer than that will cause it break

Which specific rosehip oil product(s) do you use?
@@gianninal5455 I have seen the same results using Rosehip oil (just the like face oil stuff in a little dropper bottle thing hahah) The brand I use is called Sukin, it's Australian :)
Could you make a video on sunscreen for the face? There’s an overwhelming amount of options out there. Would love to hear y’all’s opinion
The potato worked for me, also in the past we’d put potatoe skins on our bad sprains from injuries to reduce swelling to ankles. There is something to it, not saying it’s getting out the junk but it definitely takes away some of the swelling

Would love a nail/cuticle care video! I struggle with hangnails all the time, and it’s especially worse this winter plus all the hand sanitizers 😭
idk if this helps, but i observed that eating more eggs and drinking more milk made my nails stronger. I am a frequent isopropyl alcohol user, my family's assigned dishwasher, and never had broken nails and hangnails. the drawback: more acne due to dairy. will switch to plant-based milks now
It doesnt make sense to follow a "hack" that doesnt come from a derm anymore
Thank you for the advice about avoiding layering ointment over retinol. I had been doing this during the winter and developed irritation under my right eye. I stopped the routine but wasn’t exactly sure which component was causing the skin irritation. This is useful information.

Could you please do skincare for people with PCOS x
YESSSSSS I have acanthosis nigricans thanks to my PCOS (my insulin levels are fine) and my old dermatologist (who has terrible ratings, only sees people for thirty seconds, and misdiagnosed my dermatitis and led to my face getting SO MUCH WORSE) just went “I don’t know, try scrubbing it harder.”
@@bistitchualbee I know! My derm tried to say there was no link between my acne and my overall health as if PCOS wouldn’t impact my skin so I get you it’s very annoying. Same thing was said on the impact of food
Thanks so much!!!!!! for having an ad free video. So refreshing. Took everything in without distractions. Hugsss 🤗🤗🤗❤❤❤
Thank you!
i lost it when dr maxfield tried to do potato hack physics 🤣🤣🤣😩
Man. I'm a pretty green primary care PA in rural Wyoming (way out 'dere). I look to your videos as edutainment (I probably didn't make that up, but I made that up). Either way,, I find your videos both worth my free time and edifying at the same time. Working in such an isolated, albeit beautiful, place, I love to learn more about dermatology, as I don't just want to slap a topical steroid on every rash I come across and hope for the best. We don't have much access to specialist care out here, so thanks for the info! Also, please don't sell out, guys. You work in derm. You're doing alright; let's be honest. Stick to the science, and please only endorse products you'd feel comfortable with passing on to other providers to (judiciously) recommend to their own patients. I highly highly highly highly recommend getting the Paulas choice 2% salicylic acid liquid exfoliant if you have acne. It changed my life.
It helps remove blackheads

Potatoes were used and mentioned in Home Maker Magazines of the 1860’s. To draw out a splinter, before eating anything or drinking, chew a piece of raw potato to make a poultice and leave for a few hours and splinters are drawn to where you can withdraw easier. Pimples, cuts headaches too.
After years of struggling with all kinds of skin problem, I have finally come to the conclusion :
Regular sleep (no phone in bed), drink lot of water, no tanning or excessive sun exposure, minimal and gentle skincare products (only moisturizer, cleanser, sunscreen and one treatment product like retinol).
Basically just let the skin and body do their work naturally.
Aha bha??
@@self_lovecare I think those are once a month treatment for those with acne scars and greasy skin, your day to day routine should have what the op said, cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen!!, retinol is an extra, a good extra though.
I think you hit nail on head!
If you add eating well and small meals throughout day, with some intermittent fasting, no food at least 2 hours before sleep- let your gut rest!
Keep moving during your daylight hours and lastly and most important
If you feel stressed- excecise, feel anxious- write and meditate. Look after MH to essentially take care of skin!

Oooof. Throwback to that time in 2019 when I made a baking soda + water face mask and slathered it all over my face. Back then, I knew NOTHING about skin care but the plain fact that my skin felt stripped afterwards led me to slather a thick moisturizing cream over it. Thankfully, it must have helped curb the damage the 'face mask' would have caused but boyyyy...never again.
