PCOS and related symptoms are treated with prescription medication which I think should be discussed with your own provider.I have pcos, low carb diet is a non pharmaceutical method that’s been suggested and I’ve tried and it does work decently. But birth control and other rx meds did the most work for me.
Take Vitamin C orally u’ll see skin change, PCOS acne is related to what you put in your body, ie. Sugar, milk, etc. Stop those and add Vitamin C 3000mg or 4000mg.

The Ordinary + The Inkey List... there is zero need to spend $$$ on skin products. The Inkey List Cleansing Oat Balm is the best cleanser I've ever used.
Used to love ordinary but it took too much time. A LOT of Korean skincare is also affordable and amazing. Takes so much time for single ingredient product to sink in, vs something like Purito fermented complex which does it all; you only have 1 step, just 1 product to know being water or oil based, just waiting for 1 product to sink in, not needing to know ph.. this one can also double as a conductor for the FOREO bear/micro current devices Also stylevana and yes style have good-to-fantastic sales all the time
@@rimalrana1550 She basically said that by using Ordinary products it is going to take so much time for you to complete whole skincare routine since you have to apply multiple products separately, each product having single ingredients in it. Grape seed and Rosehip are actually 2 of the oils that I use when I’m making my own beard oils and I can’t even begin to tell you how much it’s changed the way my skin and beard feel.
Right? I use those two as scalp and hair end treatment oils before washing my hair. People ask me all the time how my hair is so good, and this includes hairdressers, too, who don't understand how my hair is so good. Hairdressers will never understand that not using eg. silicones on hair and using oils instead of conditioners just works. And is wayyy cheapers than conditioners etc.
I used to have my own bath and body line and made bath bombs and to be honest, the best binding oil that was great for the skin and was much lighter than other oils as wel as it tints well, mixes well with the dry ingredients and is just healthy overall.
I use a $29 fridge, holds an emergency Coke, a snack, AM eye cream and some sheet masks. My office is upstairs and it saves me a trip downstairs when I'm hungry and sheet masks and AM eyecream just feel better to me. 30 bucks was a bit hard but ended up worth it to me
I also have a mini fridge in my room. I use a retinol from the ordinary that says on the label to keep in the fridge. I also love the feeling of cool moisturizer. But like you said I’ve wasted $30 on way worse.

I been using La Mer for such a long time and recently I don’t find it working for me, my skin seem dull and dry regardless of how much of La Mer product I put. 4 days ago I stepped out of my comfort zone and bought Korean skin care products that these two reviewed. It’s only been 4 days but my skin looks way better. 1. Hydrated 2. Clearer 3. Softer 4 tighter 5 hydrated. My dark spots is almost faded now too. 2 cleansing product, toner, Vit-C, snail essence, serum and lanaige lip balm all together for 172€. I still have La Mer Moisturizer left so i want to finish it before getting diff moisturizer. 172€ is totally bargain!!!! In La Mer I can only get facial wash and lip balm. "If it's not in the fridge where you bought it, it doesn't need to be in the fridge at home". Mayonnaise. Products which, as they said, have no preservatives or are not shelf stable ONCE OPENED, should probably be refridgerated.
a good vitamin c serum definitely needs to be refrigerated - my timeless vitamin c oxidizes after 3 months and it stays fresh for like 5-6 months in the fridge, and its an airless pump
@@weltenbummlerin632 in the beginning I used it every day because i was over enthusiastic with skincare but didn’t refrigerate it, so I just wanted to use it daily in attempt to finish the bottle before oxidation. I finished my bottle at 4.5mo and it started oxidizing at 3 mo, it was a light orange by the time I finished the bottle. My second bottle I didn’t use it that often and refrigerated it and it lasts like 6mo
@@unbiasly I see. I used my first bottle for face, neck and a bit on my chest area sometimes. It was empty after 5 or 6 weeks, so I didn‘t have any problems with oxidation. The serum stayed the same without fridge. If you use it for months, you certainly did the right thing.

Been saying for years that La Mer is all hype and gullible customers are paying for the brand/marketing not the ingredients. I'm a cosmetic chemist and glad to see dermatologists agree too!
Re: minifridge, skincare products are formulated to be left out at room temp (that's what the preservatives are for). As for vitamin c, make sure it's in an opaque container. If you don't like HA, you can use glycerin, beta glucan or polyglutamic acid.
I remember reading about this one cream many years ago that supposedly all the celebrities were using. That cream was La Mer. At that time only high end stores like Barney's carried it, I believe. Now I see it at Sephora for 300 plus dollars and I can't believe anyone would actually believe that it contains anything worth that price tag. Or that it will have some miracle effect on the skin. The Skincare industry is such a rip off.
The irony is that celebs spend shitloads of money on La Mer (think about how many thousands of dollars they're spending every year just on that basic af moisturizer!!), only to say that they use La Mer. I've found some amazing skincare brands at Target (Naturium, Versed, and Ferver) that usually run about $15-$25 per product, and they actually have some cool ingredients. They are also vegan and cruelty-free. I'd much rather use my cheaper skincare than buy something stupidly expensive like La Mer (and I say that as someone who used to buy stupid expensive "clean" beauty products).
I've worked in the industry and yes all of it is a lie lie lie. Get yourself prescription strength Retin A and a gentle cleanser and save yourself thousands upon thousands of dollars throughout your lifetime. You'll have ageless clear skin well into your 50's.
A few solid recommendations ( also my own skin care routine ) : Tizo2 physical sunscreen ( also works as a great primer !! ) Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist as toner, Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum for day time, Mad Hippie Vitamin A serum for night time, Kosmea Rose hip oil. All very affordable and extremely effective. My skin has never been so smooth and glowing.
This is great info! Unfortunately I'm someone who tends to back slide into your'e getting better product because of the $$ you spend. And they can be clever in their adds that I think draws people in. Theres definitely that middle ground that offers a great product, good skin is important, but so is paying your bills, and having food to eat.
Hello. I am happy to have discovered you two. I appreciate the unbiased feedback. Even more, I like saving a few coins. I am currently using LaMer and cannot see what the hype is about. Olay worked just as well (if not better) for my aging skin. I will try the thicker moisturizer that was mentioned.

This channel is SUCH a good find. I recently swapped in biosense products on your recommendation and 3 months in my dark spots are fading and my skin is glowing. Also switched to some of your urea recommendations for KP and it’s been life changing. Thank thank you for helping me streamline my skincare
hi, what urea recommendations did you use? I’m really struggling with my KP this days.
Please talk about Acne related to PCOS and how to treat post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
In the meantime, checkout a video by Dr Davin Lim, PCOS and skin and he has one on PIH as well as a few other derms.
PCOS and related symptoms are treated with prescription medication which I think should be discussed with your own provider.I have pcos, low carb diet is a non pharmaceutical method that’s been suggested and I’ve tried and it does work decently. But birth control and other rx meds did the most work for me.
spironolactone saved my skin
@@iEatBellocan really? I’ve been taking it a year and it hasn’t really helped
Take Vitamin C orally u’ll see skin change, PCOS acne is related to what you put in your body, ie. Sugar, milk, etc. Stop those and add Vitamin C 3000mg or 4000mg.
It’s so soothing to hear you both.Going through a tough time, appreciate your videos.
Hang in there😊🌹
You guys are not rusty at all! It’s refreshing to see doctors perspective on hyped up products that are not worth it! Great video
When ever these doctor's make a video it just puts a smile on my face and these two have too much of positive in them ... Tq soo much Sharing ur positive energy ❤️❤️
Thank you 🙏🏽
@@Doctorly agreed 💯
Exactly ! I thought I was the only one ☺️☺️☺️☺️

Thank you for keeping it real and helping us ladies and gentlemen not to over pay.
The Ordinarys price point and quality of their products makes them one of the best, if not the best, affordable skin care lines out there.
The Ordinary + The Inkey List... there is zero need to spend $$$ on skin products. The Inkey List Cleansing Oat Balm is the best cleanser I've ever used.
Used to love ordinary but it took too much time. A LOT of Korean skincare is also affordable and amazing. Takes so much time for single ingredient product to sink in, vs something like Purito fermented complex which does it all; you only have 1 step, just 1 product to know being water or oil based, just waiting for 1 product to sink in, not needing to know ph.. this one can also double as a conductor for the FOREO bear/micro current devices
Also stylevana and yes style have good-to-fantastic sales all the time
@@sophileh6185 can u please simplify what u said cz i dont get it? what brand would u recommend that is affordable and good quality.
CosRx products are very good too
@@rimalrana1550 She basically said that by using Ordinary products it is going to take so much time for you to complete whole skincare routine since you have to apply multiple products separately, each product having single ingredients in it. Meanwhile you can buy something which has all of the ingredients in one product. Less time and cost effective
436K Subscribers! ❤️ Your channel has grown so much! Thank you for keeping it honest and giving us life changing advice.
Two attractive people teaching me about skincare? I'm ok with this.
They are both adorable…. 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️
We are not the target market please, what will Jlo wear if there isnt a 500$ moisturiser
Love that you are frank in your comments and recommendations and give reasoning. As a fellow doctor, I also love that you both refer to studies and actual data. Can your do a video on just face oils that you recommend and to avoid? Actual products…not individual oils. There are so many and it is hard to choose what is beneficial.
Thanks!!!
Nice haircut Dr. Maxfield!
So happy to see this video! Going shopping with my daughter this week for skincare products so you may have saved me some cash. As always, thanks for your content!
I use No7 Protect & Perfect Intense ADVANCED Serum. I get it at Target, costs me 24 dollars for big size. For 13 dollars I get the matching eye cream. Every two days I use their Pure Retinol. I’m 67 going on 68, and everyone thinks I look so much younger. I used to use Philosophy products, way to expensive for me to buy now.
So insightful! I've started referring to you guys are the Daddies of Dermatology. The parental figures of skincare.
Love all your videos btw!
This video is a breath of fresh air! Thank you, Dr. Shah and Dr. Maxfield.
I love so much this two together! How respect they have for each other, but how honest they are about products. I just start following them. Honestly I don’t know why didn’t see them before. I’m a junk for face products and I love how much information I get from them is amazing!!!!!
They are definitely a cute couple.
Would love to watch a video addressing vitamins that help skincare: (hyaluronic acid, collagen peptides, lymph and blood drain etc etc)
“Nimbus 3000” of Hylaurnic acid! 😂
I love you guys, thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos!
Has to listen to it 3x 2:50. Did he say “my wife” that through me off
for the hyaluronic acid, i use The Ordinary brand for only $6.80 and it definitely improved my skin. i never even knew that ANY brand would price something like that at $300…
I'm wondering why they didn't mention The Ordinary, because they must know that it's a super popular one!
now I’m curious what its molecular weight is 😂
I use the Timeless Beauty and buy when they have a 40% off sale. Their 100% pure hyaluronic acid is less than $10 when you use those sales.
I don't like ordinary hyaluronic acid it is toooooo liquidyy try mizon's little bit pricier but 10× better... Healed my irritated itchy neck within 2 days...
The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid is good and cheap too, and it's also Dr. Dray approved;)
Their energy is amazing ! Love the skincare knowledge along with good humor 😂
Love that they don’t just talk about expensive skin care but mostly all of what they talk about and use themselves is affordable 💕
La Prairie product prices are ridiculous along with Le Mer and Dr. Sturm. It’s just stupid.
You don’t have money x
@@nattyonice Many of us do have the money but due to having both common sense & scientific knowledge, would not buy into the hype of hugely expensive brands!
I think the expensive ones are worth it. Sorry
@Zac Atkinson troll
@@nattyonice Even if you do have money only an idiot would buy them. Something similar costing only 10% of the ridiculous amount and is actually less irritating to the skin, is not a better option?
I’m curious to hear what you guys think of snail mucin in skincare 🐌👀
Gosh I just want to say how much I enjoy listening to you guys. Such thoughtful, logical, and practical information shared in such an easy to understand format. I have learned so much from you both. I love your channel SO MUCH. Thank you so much for the education. Took me 51 years to do much of anything for my skin (other than sunscreen). Please keep the videos coming. They’re fantastic!
Grape seed and Rosehip are actually 2 of the oils that I use when I’m making my own beard oils and I can’t even begin to tell you how much it’s changed the way my skin and beard feel.
Good for you! 🌺
I would also add cold pressed pomegranate oil to the list of good oils. It’s helped heal my acne and clear my skin SO WELL!
I actually put it on my face hope I don't grow a beard
I used to have my own bath and body line and made bath bombs and to be honest, the best binding oil that was great for the skin and was much lighter than other oils as wel as it tints well, mixes well with the dry ingredients and is just healthy overall.
I use a $29 fridge, holds an emergency Coke, a snack, AM eye cream and some sheet masks. My office is upstairs and it saves me a trip downstairs when I'm hungry and sheet masks and AM eyecream just feel better to me. 30 bucks was a bit hard but ended up worth it to me
Which fridge? That’s a great idea actually. You save more in the end. Love how it’s number one on the list. 🤣😂 I don’t need it, but I want it. 🙃
I also have a mini fridge in my room. I use a retinol from the ordinary that says on the label to keep in the fridge. I also love the feeling of cool moisturizer. But like you said I’ve wasted $30 on way worse.
I can’t think of any situation where an emergency Coke is actually the best option.
My mom has always said La Mer is garbage and that the price point is highway robbery!
I love these! I have such bad skin due to cystic acne and I have learned how to clear it with your videos. 😊 unfortunately I have scars (treatments are so expensive) so I just continue to keep my skin clear. Thank you, thank you and thank you! I wish I knew this when I was younger lol
same here after 15 years of acne my skins is finally clearing
May I ask what you used/did?
@@nikitadcruz7524 I've been using cera ve hydrating face wash and moisturizer and the Paula's choice bha and those three products have changed my skin
I love these guys. They are just so cute and their chemistry is through the roof.
So, I am happy that I get to save over 1000€ for the stuff that I need. Thank you to these two’s.
Thank u for ur public service! This is why this channel is beyond important! To debunk all these skincsre miths we come accross! Im starting now and i feel so relief to have such honest opinions about this!
I want someone to look at me the way Dr. Maxfield looks at Dr. Shah

"If it's not in the fridge where you bought it, it doesn't need to be in the fridge at home". Mayonnaise. Products which, as they said, have no preservatives or are not shelf stable ONCE OPENED, should probably be refridgerated.
He immediately followed the comment by saying the exception is if the packaging says "refrigerate after opening." So, mayonnaise.
a good vitamin c serum definitely needs to be refrigerated - my timeless vitamin c oxidizes after 3 months and it stays fresh for like 5-6 months in the fridge, and its an airless pump
But if it lasts you three months, you are not using it every day, right? I am still on my first bottle but estimated it‘ll last me 6 weeks….
I run through Timeless every two months and I don't use it every day. It does not last 5 months.
I keep mine in the fridge too. It's made it hard to remember to use it routinely. I'm doing better as of late, but I'm so out of sight out of mind....
@@unbiasly I see. I used my first bottle for face, neck and a bit on my chest area sometimes. It was empty after 5 or 6 weeks, so I didn‘t have any problems with oxidation. The serum stayed the same without fridge. If you use it for months, you certainly did the right thing.
I don’t care that you’re inconsistent, I would live and die for this channel 😩💕😭🤩

I love cold moisturisers! They have a slight temporary anti inflammatory effect due to vasoconstriction! If you live in a really warm climate I’m Australian the beauty fridge when it’s 40 degrees Celsius outside it’s a nice addition!
Agreed! I hate applying warm toner

Been saying for years that La Mer is all hype and gullible customers are paying for the brand/marketing not the ingredients. I'm a cosmetic chemist and glad to see dermatologists agree too!

I love cosmetic chem! You should make a channel
Would love to see y’all review procedures! Thermage, ultherapy etc
Re: minifridge, skincare products are formulated to be left out at room temp (that's what the preservatives are for). As for vitamin c, make sure it's in an opaque container. If you don't like HA, you can use glycerin, beta glucan or polyglutamic acid.
First time watcher, instantly subscribed. Love how it's uplifting and educational, straight to the point.
@@ladycaticorn2950 Just because some “celebrity” is pimping a product doesn’t mean they use it.
CAnt do what a $10 tube of Retin A or tretinoin used regularly can do.
@@tundrawomansays694 Sure, but some of them probably do, which is pretty dumb.
I just like the cool feeling of skincare from fridge
Mr. Maxwell- "I'm going to look nice"... lol he always looks nice. Love these two personalities! ❤ Dr. Maxwell's ARMS!!!
