I'm really enjoying the vibe this season, very smart to scale things back a bit.
We don't watch hermitcraft for the fanciest redstone or the biggest builds ever, that is what scicraft or creative builds are for - we watch you guys because you're all great entertainers who do really cool stuff together and bounce off each other.
(obviously we love the great stuff you all do, but that is window dressing to the core - which is the hermits)
Best example is probably some of Iskal's behind the scene vids, him messing with beef has generated so many videos with some of my favourite moments, which is so much more content *and* more valuable content than him disappearing for a week to work on some build to copy from creative onto the server.
yeah, grain's videos for example I have loved him mostly doing silly stuff like fishing for weeks, or flinging people with fishing rods for an entire episode rather then building a mega base, with a bit of fun stuff! I think a big difference this season is that a lot of people didn't instantly try and get geared, instead they took it slow
The Bdubs assassination is my favorite. Even if half of it was just spying on bdubs. I never really got to know these two because I started in S9 but man it’s so much fun to watch people have fun.

The vibe seems to be falling back into just friends hanging out on a server together. Which is great, always focusing on mega builds and giant farms is what always leads to burnouts.

Since the start of Season X I've wondered if there was an untold agreement to revisit or recall prior seasons in some way. If not, it's amazing how many Hermits have already chosen to reflect on the past with their builds or activities. It's incredibly enjoyable. 🖤
For what I’ve seen of doc, tango, bdubs, etho, iskall, grian, mumbo, I’m not getting a nostalgia vibe at all.

@@codymarshall587 Strangely enough I haven't been keeping a log of the hundreds of hours of footage. Off the top of my head: Demise (All Hermits), End Busting (Iskall and Mumbo), GigaCorp, Tower and almost everything Ren is doing, Soup Group Restaurant by Impulse, "Digging Down" by Grian, Impulse and Scar, Scar building a steam train and linking it both to S8 and S9 story, Xisuma's tree farm, Stress' Skull, Iskall cosplay as Ren discussing GigaPies. There's a lot, most of it is fleeting references or small things like BDubs naming animals after those from previous years.
@@GothBoyUKnot to mention the biggest one from mumbo! The title screens! Each one of those reference a little bit from older seasons, look for the little easter eggs.
I would be fun to have a celebration of each season reconstructed in the server somehow, you hit Season 10 only once, and it's a good time to create some memorial stuff.
Your idea of old hermitcraft builds/zones seems like something that would go well with what Joe is planning, you could use the plots he’s setting out to make in the future when you’re done with your current plan

I'm really loving the more casual approach that most hermits have this season (and the contrast that Doc's approach creates). It's already shaping up to be my favorite season.

Such a cool idea, and very relevant to my ambitions-I've been trying to combine multiple worlds (or multiple backups of the same world) into a single save as _separate dimensions_ to make a truly immerse time travel / multiverse experience.
If it were just the overworlds it would be fine, but I just can't figure out a way to link each overworld to its corresponding nether.
I really think the idea is great, I really liked when season 8 ended, the space ship had mini versions of each season inside it's modules, it looked incredible on that tiny scale, maybe later you can do it once the time is right for it, a solid idea that's for sure

what's cool is when you stop focusing on the anylitics and performance aspects, and just make stuff you want to make, not only do the videos get better and better, but you protect your joy for your craft and the videos actually perform better bc people actually feel your joy and enthusiasm.

hermitcraft has trascended many barriers and generations it's a good example of something being more than the sum of it's parts. You all built something really special and got to be proud of it.
I think you could still go through with that. Regardless, I am really enjoying the vibe of slower pace and you are smashing it. Keep going and do what YOU want to do, because you have a loyal fan base who will enjoy it

misty eye'd nostalgia is what we're all craving atm it seems, we're all wanting things to go back to how they were, watching old shows, playing old games, we miss the past XD
Xs comment on playing like it’s season 2 was interesting, I think his episodes have definitely had a similar feel to earlier seasons, which is so great. Something I enjoy so much is having the intro music back, it is something that differentiates X a bit, it’s not just nostalgia, but I can’t put my finger on it

This is a really awesome idea! If you ever do this, I would love to see some of the other hermits pretending to be their past selves, with their old skins and stuff, to really play into it.

Honestly this is already my favorite season of Hermitcraft so far. I've been watching various Hermits since season 2 and they were all great in their own way, but getting back to basics and watching all the hemits having fun and relaxing and enjoying playing with each other makes it very very enjoyable to watch
It seems to me a way to do this in season X without ruining the vibe is to do a streaming weekend in which each hermit picks someone else’s build from a past season and streams it for one weekend. One weekend. One mega-build per hermit, but it’s only as big or small as they want it to be. And they get a chance to copy/imitate/learn from another hermit’s build style. Kinda flex Gem’s “I can do that” attitude for a weekend.
S11 would be great for an idea like that really. Take the top build from each previous season or the top build from each past and present hermit ... (Whatever you choose keep the list small and manageable so there is still time to follow the flow of the season.) ... take each build you have chosen and give it 2 or more weeks worth of attention. Talk about who built it why you selected it for a rebuild and then bring it back with a new twist or improvement. Then as the season wraps up come up with something brand new to finish on. It could feel like a season transitioning into the future instead of just a look back.
The vibe this season was needed for a lot of the Hermits. The last two seasons were met with a lot of burnout and RL events that kept some folks away from the server for long periods, probably due to the nature of Season 7, where the lockdowns kept everyone cranking out content way more often than they were used to (and went on for so long). It's no wonder that the new members not only have building chops (even Skizz), but they also bring a comedy undertone that will allow for some great collaborations and a more "Hermitcraft can be fun for the hermits, too" tone.
I like your idea of a retro/time machine look into seasons past, but you are correct that this season wouldn't have been a great fit for it compared to other seasons.

I've never been that open to change as a person but something has changed this season and i dont really know what but suddenly Hermitcraft is even more fun and engaging this time around. I hope it sticks like this also loving the videos!
I love the laid back vibe. It’s really awesome seeing everyone not have elytas, taking their time etc. but the time traveling story would be great one day!
Totally understand not wanting to put in the mega grind right now, and I absolutely love the laid back feel this season.. with that being said when your ready to follow through with the Time Machine and Monument Valley idea I’ll be here to watch it. That idea sounds really cool, especially for someone like me who didn’t start watching Hermitcraft until season 9. I have gone back and watched select episodes from all of the seasons, but I’m still fascinated by the Hermitcraft history.
I like the more casual, silly vibe this season. For me, the best part of Hermitcraft is the community. The interactions, the shenanigans, the things that y'all do. Big amazing bases are great, but they don't really draw me in. It's the people.
Sounds like you should do that as a Solo series - in parallel to hermitcraft - like how youve done modded and vault hunters
hearing so many hermits say they enjoy this season so much so far is genuinely amazing. i know some have struggled with burnout and i feel like people have learnt their limits and how to balance everything. thats the most important thing
A time travel season seems like a good idea for your last season on Hermitcraft, if you know in advance. A whole highlights reel to cap it all off with.

I really think this would be a really cool community project for the end of the season. Maybe it could just be inspired by seasons 1, with you, Keralis and Joe building it.
Honestly I love the style that the hermits have fallen into this season. The random meet ups and natural feeling of friends playing together the way they want to
I started watching with season 6, and I can say it feels like 6 and 7 were very build focused, 8 was way more focused on the small communities that popped up, and 9 flipped back hard to megabuilds. Not to belittle stuff like decked out or tcg as they are amazing creations, but so far season 10 feels almost like a recovery season where no one wants the full pressure that it seems like so many people put themselves under for season 9, and people are looking a lot more for some collabs rather than just their own massive builds.
Not sure if season 10 has a length in mind, but it could be cool to do a weekly/biweekly collab to slowly build up monument valley. Whether that is like a stream day event where you all agree on one thing or if you just pick a random hermit and build something representing something they have fond memories of, it could be a cool way to slowly build it up if you think this will be a longer season.
I love your monument valley idea but I think you're right... Season X seems to be about a return to the idea of just having fun playing with friends. For some reason, the reflection back on seasons past, that's making me feel like maybe season 13 would be the right time. No idea why I'm feeling that way. Just am.
After season 10, I would really love doing kinda like a flashback thing for a few months. Like you'd spend 1 month or even 2 weeks in the previous seasons, from 2 all the way to the current season. (I honestly started watching in season 6 but I don't think many people are here from season 1)
maybe next (or later) seasons you could do this, i think it could be very interesting, entertaining and refreshing. Your Choice though!

I started with the very end of season 8. Watched/obessed with season 9. And i must say, eventhough season 9 is amazing. Ten is killing it.
Perhaps in season 11, or if you ever do get around to making this idea, you could recreate every prank that you have ever done. Build the build that was pranked, and then the prank that you did. Or at least, as much of the prank as was visible at the time. Perhaps that could expand into other people's pranks. It would be pretty funny to see the eye scream cone again. Or Shrek with a mustache. It might be more difficult to cover a base in chickens, or elevate a AFK platform just out of reach of a witch farm. Those ones wouldn't necessarily be as visually appealing.
I think also, anything done since season 6 might not need to be done again. It really does feel like there was a divide in tone between seasons five and six, and of course, the culprit of that would be Grian. And that's not a bad thing, it's been fantastic since then. I just like the idea of having a curated tour of seasons 1 through 5, before it hit as popular as season 6 was.
Honestly, season 2 is my all time favorite!

But I do hope you revisit it one day sounds really cool to me. Personally I'd love to see references to hermits that moved on. I have no idea the reasons behind them quitting but I remember them fondly as well.
This is totally off topic. But I love how when you trade with the viagers, since you are holding shift while doing the trading, when you close the menu, you are still holding shift for a few frames. So after each trade, you crouch for a few frames before moving to the next villager. It feels like you bow to them in thanks for their quality trade and I just love that.
Season 4 is the season I started watching you.
I've listened to some of your music and it's good! You have the right attitude. It's something you do because it's something you need to do and it's for the enjoyment you get out of doing it. What DAW do you use? I use Bitwig and Reaper.

It's funny, because when the season started i imagined what i would do if i were a new hermit and a reoccurring fantasy is going pn time heists stealing builds from earlier seasons.
But your idea is so much better, I'd love for you to reconsider it later in the season. I haven't followed hermitcraft for very long and wantto hear more about the good ol' days.

Instead of being a time traveller, you could have catacombs under your base with certain, smaller aspects of past seasons, so it isn't incredibly time consuming, but does the same thing

Success is relative to what you care about. Maybe your music doesn't have the same 'financial or reach impact', but maybe its does more for you personal mental health or self satisfaction, and thats a different version of success. Or maybe your music gets you your future life partner, who didn't care at all for minecraft. Well your music did more for something that maybe later on in life had bigger impact on yourself? So much is framing what you want to do in life and what it means to you
I think it sounds like a great idea (solo, not shared with the other hermits), but personally I don't like the idea of you hopping 'into a time machine' as a gimmick. That's more of a Rendog thing.
I think I pretty much started watching Hermitcraft when I was at a really low point and it gave me something to look forward to and made me smile even when I felt horrible.
It might, in its essence, just be a Minecraft server on which some people play, but it’s so much more just as a community and incorporating all of the personalities and talents of the people who play on the server.

I am actually very pleased to hear Xsuma say this and it seems like he's not the only hermit to feel this way. The way UA-cam has set up the algorithm, and what creators feel like they have to do to not only grow, but just remain comfortable with their channels is BS. Creators should be able to make content the way they want to without fear of getting buried by the algorithm. It's nice to see creators basically giving the finger to that and doing what they love to do.

As much as it was an incredible fund-raiser for such a wonderful thought-inducing cause, I also suspect that the Scar charity live stream last season was also a wake-up moment for the Hermits. People loved that event. Was it super staged and scripted, thumb-nail creating, epic "look at me" content? No. It was a bunch of people who get along together having fun and HC fans loved it. This is what people want. HC10 is proving that. Hope we have another charity event

Maybe Xiuma should hand off the background running of the server to someone else for a season, so he can rest and relax and get to be a bit more of a receiver of content on the server, go with the flow, take things as they show up sort of thing.
It feels like a lot of the hermits are just having fun. It makes the videos better to watch. The last few seasons felt like hermits were trying to game the UA-cam algorithm and I lost interest.
