Huh... Actually I just did a cautious search, scanning the results but clicking on nothing, and i just learned that it was apparently 2007, not the 90s. (I thought I was aware of it in high school, but apparently not.) And it was apparently just a trailer for an even longer film. I can't and don't want to imagine that scene going on any longer than it already did in that clip.

Honestly, i found the title quite funny since we've seen and heard the hermits make more naughty jokes/references this season and it kinda played into that side.
The hermits themselfes sometimes not wanting to play into that is totally fine. It's their content too that features themselfes in it after all

I remember wayyy back in the day Etho got doxxed just from saying what he did for a living. I'd like to think his audience these days is more chill and respectful of him than when we were all teenagers, but I'm sure Etho also combed over that image himself before releasing it regardless.

@@cvilla1944thank you for actually saying it. I keep seeing people talking about the title without saying it. It bothered me because I knew I had watched that video before it was changed, but couldn't for the life of me remember it.
I love that with this being season 10, it could have been a really big season where all the hermits double down on mega bases and making everything bigger to celebrate. But instead you've all kind of decided it's more important to have strong connections with other hermits and to have fun.
It feels like you're all learning to love your job again and it's lovely.
The tissue box thing works. Just got my gf a new mic and it was picking all sorts of vibrations through the desk and as a joke I threw it in a tissue box and it just worked 😅

I'd liked kind of the contrast between the slightly chuckly title and the very wholesome and comfortable content of the video itself, but I totally get why a hermit might ask for the change.

Honestly the most interesting part of Etho's setup to me is the fact that he has the same type of PC that I do.
I actually only started watching his Hermitcraft episodes in season 10, and I've really started to enjoy Etho's content. Its cool to see that we have something in common and that I'm learning new stuff about someone who's been around for ages.

@@SkroomJuice I knew about him for a long time, I just didn't add him to my hermitcraft watch list until now. There's not enough time for me to watch every hermit, so I watch a small handful.
At the start of every season I chose who I'm going to watch and mostly stick with that list. This season I added Skizz, Bdubs, and Etho because I enjoyed their side content, such as the Life Series.

Hilarious title I loved it, I saw no harm in it, but also huge respect X. Not a lot of people talk about how prevalent that kind of stuff is online and how damaging it can be for some people.
I feel like the title is the kind of a reference that only people who already know what it is about will get it. For kids and such it doesn't mean anything.
I loved the title. People keep asking impulse for "after dark" streams and I feel like the hermitcraft audience is extremely mature / growing old.
As a hermitcraft viewer whos turning 18, not so sure about the 'growing old' bit, but I can definitely handle some more 'mature' content. I think it would be fun to see them let go of their filters a little and make some dirtier jokes or let out a few swears, maybe discuss a bit of darker content.
That would be great and although I do think a large chunk of hermitcraft viewers are probably teens and adults, don’t forget that there’s new viewers of all ages with every new season and a part of the demographic is and probably always will be children just like a part of the demographic is and always will be teens and adults

I do think it would be fun for some streams, but maybe not for every video. One of the reasons i really like Hermitcraft is that anyone can watch it regardless of age/maturity
@@oklol7799 I think a way to get around that could be to maybe label any more mature videos in a way like Impulse did (the after dark ones); more conversation-based videos that younger kids probably wouldn't find interesting anyway, so they could do both kid-friendly _and_ mature
That title made me chuckle as well. It was a good laugh and made me think of friends I haven't spoken to in awhile. Had a lot of good times perusing the darker side of the internet with some good people. It's just how the internet was back in the day. I am glad we've shifted away from that, but I wouldn't change the past at all.

I started the video shortly after release without thinking about the title much. I'd gotten busy and had to stop the video halfway, and it wasn't until I went to finish the episode later and notice the title change that the original title suddenly hit me. I can say it certainly gave me a chuckle.
The Hermits have been making a LOT of adult jokes this season, i missed last season, but after 10 years of making the show you have to realize at least SOME of the audience has now become legal adults. Adult Humor is part of growing up. HermitCraft has.. evolved.
wrt the privacy discussion: I sometimes wonder whether X has been to the same gigs I've been at, knowing we listen to some of the same bands. But I know in myself I'd never make a scene even if there were a way to recognise - everyone has the right to privacy.

Kids will probably not make any connection there - why would they. If they do, they clearly are in a spot where you don’t need to care about PG anymore.
I get that HC and the members try to be as PG friendly as possible, but if you got that you are already done. And I do more agree that this is like a Simpsons joke. Simpsons always have been on this level. If it was a Family Guy level joke it would’ve been WAY more offensive and obvious.
There has been „worse“ on HC this season, but honestly nothing that should have been cut from the videos. I think people are overcautios these days.
That's the logic of more adult-ish jokes in children, family, and PG/PG-13/TV-Y7/TV-PG media
It'll hopefully go over the head of most kids, but older siblings and parents will have a huge laugh out of it
As a parent with kids under 10 who watch Hermitcraft with me, I have no problem at all with the innuendo and jokes that the Hermits throw in. Sometimes I will be crying with laughter and they don't quite get it but that's fine! If a kid is getting the innuendo then there's a bigger problem for that family

I love when you talk about your past X. I too was an edgy kid and look back on so much of my past and roll my eyes now as a 35 year old. I think there are a lot of younger people that may be indulging those dark curiosities, and then hearing you talk about your experience could change that course.

Honestly the video title gave me a laugh at first, then I checked the comments and people were acting like you’d committed some heinous crime which kinda just took the fun out of it. Regardless I can see it being a bit too much for a family friendly server!
Seeking out the darker sides of the internet is definitely something a lot of people can relate doing in their teens. I think if you’ve struggled with your mental health and bullying etc it’s natural to try and find other people that match your mood and almost validate it? Maybe it can put peoples own struggles into perspective too, by seeking out the worst of people online it can give that feeling of ‘at least I’m not like them’

When I was a bit younger and weirder I looked up my best friend’s parents name to find his house. So just by a name you can find a lot of info about a person, In fact back then I even looked up the hermits which isn’t my proudest moment but ya live ya learn

I hear what you say comparing the episode to season one. I've watched season 9 and 10 but have also watched a bunch of season 1 and feel like there is something there that had gone missing. I think season 1 videos are more like streams today. It's refreshingly genuine, real and more about conversation and debating how to do a project. Before now so many of the interactions that made videos seemed to be like the hermit permit day where you watch it once then fast forward through the 20 some other videos.
My friends and I had a good laugh about the title. Full respect to you for changing it on request of the others ❤

There's a character in the first XenoSaga game, Cherenkov, who has a great line. He says something like, "It wasn't the world that rejected me; I rejected the world." It made me realize some things about my attitudes when I was a teenager, and even in my 20s.
I really love the direction HC is going on right now. The adult jokes slipping here and there matches the humor of its maturing audience.
I don’t know if the audience is really maturing because there’s always new viewers every season and I think children, teens, and adults will always make up the demographic

One of my favourite UA-cam series to watch once a month is Ailurius' r/MorbidCuriosity series. He does good narration that educates people on the horrors of the past without glorifying or sensationalizing them. It provides a great aspect on these dark topics that is refreshing from how much that kind of stuff usually gets glorified to no end.
It's not that we're uncomfortable, I think most of us were just surprised that Xisuma used that title

I can see how the hermits might not welcome a video title like that... Just kind of sends the wrong message, and loops them into it. But people make missteps sometimes, it happens.

I liked the title and I grinned for like a second or two but ultimately it accurately described what the video was about. And other people's dirty minds are their own problem, not yours. Idk how I feel about X changing the title because he had to :/
Other than that I absolutely loved the videos this season. I've been watching since season 6 and there is a noticeable change this season where you can just feel how much X loves playing and that's why I'm watching more again.
I don't wanna see someone forcing themselves to make videos and no grand building makes up for the joy in small videos where the creater just hangs out and digs a hole and goofs around with other hermits

I think the whole attention to keeping things relatively clean has really helped the Hermitcraft popularity. Sure some will mock Minecraft as being 'for kids', but there will always be folks like that. Appreciate the mature analysis!
The title was satirical in nature to me. I found it funny.

People like to feel offended by things, even when they get the context wrong, or are completely ignorant to the context. All the while, subliminal messages are plastered 24/7 all around us, and the easily offended dont even notice it....
About the title: I found out about that clips existence through a far more specific reference somewhere else when I was still a minor. I looked up what made those four words so giggle-inducing on urban dictionary, found out about that clip, read the description of it and said to myself "ew, not something I want to watch" and didn't watch it. That was the end of it.
If someone was showing parts of the clip to unsuspecting viewers, I would be angry at that. But a faint reference in a video title? If that causes someone to watch that clip, they had it coming. It's a very easy clip to avoid. The thumbnail isn't, but it tells you enough and it doesn't actually show anything beyond what you see when you go to the restroom every day. Surroundings that suggest what's happening? Absolutely. But you have to have that dirty mind to see it. Thus, the only thing about the original title that informed unknowing children about the existence of that clip is the people who complained about the title.
Aside from that, is any sentence in the format of "[number] x, one y" forbidden now? It's just a normal sentence. In Germany, we even have a saying following that exact pattern: "Zwei Doofe, ein Gedanke" (two dumb people, one thought) and you use it when you come across someone who had the same thought as you.
I've been waiting to hear your thoughts on these! But I'm so confused how this came from a stream but your game/video audio is desynced. Your voice is fine, because the comments come up when you talk about them, but game seems to be about a bit behind

This reminds me a little of the moment when impulse decided to change the name of his pants from iShiftMyPants to iMSwifty because he thought it was too inappropriate for hermitcraft. i personally thought that name was brilliant and not a problem at all but i guess those things might be different in different countries? languages even? either way, i get that they want to be family friendly, but it's sad how many great jokes have to be held back because of it.

I am more sensitive or innocent since Jesus and getting older. {I am so happy that the hermits are enjoying themselves this season, each hermit joking, grinding, building, redstoning in their own way is fun.
