I've lived in California all my life and I did not know that people couldn't buy liquor in the grocery store, that's crazy to me. It's way more convenient to get it in the grocery store.
I’m from Florida and it’s the same there. Been in Tennessee a while and it’s still weird to me that you have to go to separate places to find hard liquor lol actually lived in a dry county for a while where you could only get beer and had to go to the next county over if we wanted liquor lol and some places you can now get wine, but still no liquor!
Well then you'd be chocked to know in Sweden we have a specific liquor store (Systembolaget) that is regulated by the government, it's an alcohol monopoly and you can only buy beer up 3,5% or cider up to 2,5% in the grocery store. Personally I think it's great and it helps prevent alcoholism. Even though we can drink at 18 here and order at bars and restaurants, you can't buy alcohol at the store until you're 20. Drinking age in the US is something I'll never understand compared to other laws, the fact that you're allowed to get a drivers license at 16 or buy a gun at 18 in many states.
As someone who used to like this show so much that I have two funko pops from it, I was answering all the questions that y'all had behind me computer as if y'all could hear me. (I'm not a brony, just a girl who hyper fixated on this show in elementary school.)

i hope speech therapy goes well and also be sure to be critical of any potential internalized ableism !!! from someone who has been in speech therapy and also has adhd that makes my words mix up bc i’m going too fast, yeah
i had speech therapy for an impediment and an excited brain. when i’m angry or excited, all four thoughts try to come out at once but you really gotta push through. also: no one speaks perfectly unless they’re serial killers.
As a poc I can make jokes about this, it’s so fucking funny to think about segragation and supremicists in the brony community. Like it’s a show about being kind and loving eachother and this happens. I have so many questions, did the bronies of color rise up, protest and have a revolution? I need to know. It’s so crazy to think about this.
They had a whole multi-species arc where the ponies started to stop saying "everypony" and instead started saying "everycreature" to be more inclusive of the exchange students at Princess Twilight's friendship school.
Honestly I don’t think many do confront it, especially moc in these fandom spaces. we are seeing it more and more but young moc are hella susceptible to going down the alt right pipeline in a very self hating way. Like all these red pill black men podcast are just using alt right talking points to bash black women and black queer folk. instead of confronting Yt male supremacy for their feelings of impotence, it’s much easier and more gratifying (in a sociopathic/sadistic way) to punch down on people even more powerless than them.
Okay okay, now try and do Homestuck. The biggest and LONGEST webcomic on the internet with over 8000 pages and a massive fandom that controlled tumblr.
I've stuttered my whole life and can really relate to Sarah in the context that our brains move faster than our mouths. Even when I'm calm I'll stutter. Speech therapy wasn't really a good thing for me, but i just learned to be confident IN my stutter and that's helped a lot! And that goes with what she was saying about not getting hung up on it, just stutter and let it pass. :)
I love that brittany self identifies herself as applejack, and sarah as rarity. especially in earlier episodes they have a really cute friendship. occasionally their opposite personalities cause them to fight, but they always embrace each others differences and grow closer in the end. i love them so much my little pony is such a good show
19:00 about horse meat there’s actually a lot of illegal sale of horses for meat in Ohio. Often it’s labeled as just auctioning “lame” horses but everyone kinda knows it’s for meat. A notable place is Sugarcreek which is a lot of ex race/show horses and former Amish horses. I used to volunteer with my mom at a barn that would rescue them and rehab and rehome them
Omg that's wild, I had no clue! In some Latin American countries I've visited it's such standard practice that once I was riding an old horse on a tour and the guide casually said was gonna be sausage soon and little vegetarian me was like 😳😳 lol
fun british fact: like 10 years ago it got found out that some big supermarket chains were selling undisclosed horse meat in burgers and stuff. i think it happened over a lot of europe. so i have most definitely eaten it before. and do you know what… clearly it was pretty good, no complaints from me (aside from the ethical complaints obviously)
In Quebec I would occasionally see it in grocery stores, plainly labeled as such. It would be there pretty infrequently and not a lot of quantity, but it would be right there on the shelf with the ground beef and ground pork. (It was always ground, or minced I think you guys call it)
as a side note: they changed the tobacco rule in texas when i was 17, turning 18 (i am 20 now). they changed it bc the vaping situation got out of hand with minors so they changed to 21, however, they had this thing called the grandfather law (if you were already 18 or older when they changed the age limit, you were excused) but they ended up getting rid of that as well so now it’s 21.
my state changed it to 21 a few months after i turned 18 and they didn’t do the grandfather law. so i was 18 and could buy tobacco products for a little bit then suddenly the law changed no one would even sell me a lighter for another 2+ years.
Also, another note on that, this law isn’t just in Texas or some states. Trump passed federal law in 2019 that went into effect in 2020. The legal age to buy tobacco products is literally 21 in every single state, and it’s not subjective to individual state law.
to add to the 18 when the tobacco law was changed conversation, when my uncle was growing up the drinking age changed every time he hit the the legal age, and im just glad the ages are pretty set now with 21 or 18😭
As a (16 year old girl) big fan of mlp, I SO BADLY want Brittany to get into the show. It’s literally so good and campy. All the cities in the show are like puns, it’s amazing
Fun fact: we register dogs like horses. Lots of horses don’t go by the name that they are bet under. They have normal names. If your registering a dog with the akc no 2 dogs can have the same name so a lot of dogs have crazy long names. And then a “call name” they go by in everyday life.

Yeah as someone who is kinda??? In the fandom(I know too much, and used to watch the show) the fandom now is more full of women, and is much more of a safe space. It’s also accurate that most of the guys still in the fandom are nerodivergent (asd, adhd, so on) mlp was a special interest to so many, including me. It was prob one of my first special interests:D to see what the fandom is like today you could honestly go on the mlp tag on tumblr and Instagram and see how much more wholesome now that so many men left.
I spent the day at Disneyland with one of the voice actors for that show! Lmaoo trust me when I say, this man was definitely a Bronie and would not stop talking about the show to me! I hope there is an explanation to the appropriation of MLP and other online seemingly innocent and neutral spaces by extremist groups because this seems to be a very common phenomenon. Hi I would love if you guys could some time cover the huge issue with (mostly men) who are lead singers in bands and take advantage of their younger (mostly minor girl) fans. I simply need you guys to watch the last bronycon video that jenny nicholson put out so you can understand bronies from an insider, a horse famous expert if you will.
I remember I had MLP's before they had the shows but they were the regular horse ones that look like real horses and in the hoove one had a magnet and I could use her hoove to unlock secret drawers in this stable/room thing that came with them
It blew my mind as a born and raised Californian when I went out of state that you couldn't rock up to a 24 hr Safeway at 1 am and buy a bottle of Smirnoff. States rights? I feel restricted.
In Utah it’s super restrictive, they don’t even open liquor stores on Sundays or some holidays which like, yay for employees having days off but why not just put that shit in a grocery or convenience store?
Bronycon unfortunately takes place in Baltimore, where I live. I worked at the baseball stadium one summer and explaining to the older people I worked with why the bronies were dressed the way they were was a TRIP. Some of them came up to the window to buy tickets to the game. I think my one coworker’s brain broke. It was an experience.
Sarah, you got so excited over them being lesbians that I thought I would mention that it is heavily implied that Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack are a couple in the last episode -- not exactly representation but it's something
welp. i'd like to thank this two-parter for unlocking my childhood memories of imagining the 90's/00's ponies (g2 if the google pics are correct?) running/dancing alongside the bus/car during long journeys
This is so crazy to me. I’m from wisconsin and the tobacco law changed when I was 18 in 2020 so I had to wait to be old enough twice. Also, our grocery stores have entire sections dedicated to alcohol. My local grocery store has 4 isles. Gas stations have huge walk in coolers for alcohol. I didn’t know that wasn’t common everywhere
I have a stutter as well and hearing Sarah's frustration with it makes me feel seen and normal. I understand that it's not that "noticable" to people hearing you speak, but when a stutter happens, I have almost a shock to my brain. It's the internal reaction that's difficult. Also I've lived in NoVA for most of my life so it's always cool to here Sarah talk about all the (shitty) things in virginia
in Ontario, Canada, our government runs the liqour and has stores called the LCBO where you can get all kinds of alcohol, but recently they started letting beer and wine be sold in grocery stores
@@defiantender crazy! I've only ever lived in Sask and BC so never thought to look up other liquor laws in Canada. Though I already think ours are barbaric.

Hey friend. I just wanted to let you know that referring to mental health/emotional therapy as “actual therapy” in comparison to other therapies such as speech therapy and physical therapy can sound invalidating. I’m sure this is not how you meant for your comment to come across but I just wanted to let you know that this wording may be misunderstood and could be hurtful. Genuinely, no hard feelings. I just know that I like to be told when something I say could be hurtful.
@@anahand4137 i don't really see how anyone could misinterpret that. no one thinks speech therapy and physical therapy are less valid than mental health therapy, if anything it's the other way around. people just shorten mental health/psycho- therapy to just therapy
In December of 2019 the “T21 Law” was passed making the sale of tobacco products to anyone under 21 illegal Federally. There are some states that abide by state law and are legal to sell to 18 years or older. Most of those states are slowly taking into consideration federal law and changing to 21 and older. So really you have to be 21 to buy cigarettes and or tobacco products (pipes, e-cigarettes, etc.).
I grew up in Missouri where you can buy hard liquor, wine coolers, and beer absolutely everywhere. Hearing them confused about liquor at the grocery store is wild 😂
From Alabama and I've only seen beer and wine at grocery stores. No hard liquor. Even gas stations won't have liquor, only at ABC liquor store. And you can't buy wine or beer until after noon on Sunday. I think in Mississippi they have dry counties that don't sell alcohol at all, ever. But I got some family that make moonshine in Mississippi. No liquor store needed

It’s a really good and healthy thing to connect with more innocent and childish content especially when it’s things you grew up with (but doesn’t have to be) I think since being grown up is so hard and stressful and it gets really dark being able to watch something purely innocent and optimistic is almost therapeutic. I've lived in California all my life and I did not know that people couldn't buy liquor in the grocery store, that's crazy to me. It's way more convenient to get it in the grocery store.
I’m from Florida and it’s the same there. Been in Tennessee a while and it’s still weird to me that you have to go to separate places to find hard liquor lol actually lived in a dry county for a while where you could only get beer and had to go to the next county over if we wanted liquor lol and some places you can now get wine, but still no liquor!
in louisiana specifically new orleans it’s literally available anywhere anytime lol
My small town grocery store in Michigan has every liquor known to man in it LMAO and we have an entire beer freezer. It's ridiculous.
I live in Mexico and we have alcohol in every store in every state
Violating Community Guidelines is the literal single thing keeping me from the noose, thanks aunties luv y'all unnit bruv
sarah going “uhhhhhhh” while talking about teen titans was so unintentionally Raven of her 😭
Oh this should be good especially after the first part
As someone who used to like this show so much that I have two funko pops from it, I was answering all the questions that y'all had behind me computer as if y'all could hear me. (I'm not a brony, just a girl who hyper fixated on this show in elementary school.)
ok THE FACT that Brittany is a self proclaimed lps girl relinquishes all doubts that we would not be immediate best friends if we ever met…
major hot girl energy
i hope speech therapy goes well and also be sure to be critical of any potential internalized ableism !!! from someone who has been in speech therapy and also has adhd that makes my words mix up bc i’m going too fast, yeah
i had speech therapy for an impediment and an excited brain. when i’m angry or excited, all four thoughts try to come out at once but you really gotta push through. also: no one speaks perfectly unless they’re serial killers.
Or they're great at public speaking or just well-spoken @@iputaHEXXonyou
As a poc I can make jokes about this, it’s so fucking funny to think about segragation and supremicists in the brony community. Like it’s a show about being kind and loving eachother and this happens. I have so many questions, did the bronies of color rise up, protest and have a revolution? I need to know. It’s so crazy to think about this.
And the fact that all the last few seasons specifically talk about racism
@@Cowgutz wait so not only was their racism in the mlp community, there was racism in the show. What a society/j
Like all these red pill black men podcast are just using alt right talking points to bash black women and black queer folk. instead of confronting Yt male supremacy for their feelings of impotence, it’s much easier and more gratifying (in a sociopathic/sadistic way) to punch down on people even more powerless than them.
me screaming "THEY'RE CALLED CUTIE MARKS" when you said they're branded ponies LMAO
Okay okay, now try and do Homestuck. The biggest and LONGEST webcomic on the internet with over 8000 pages and a massive fandom that controlled tumblr.
I think they’d end up dying halfway through. That shit would need at least 3 episodes
I love that brittany self identifies herself as applejack, and sarah as rarity. especially in earlier episodes they have a really cute friendship. occasionally their opposite personalities cause them to fight, but they always embrace each others differences and grow closer in the end. i love them so much my little pony is such a good show
Sarah is giving off major “Jade West” vibes and I love them for it
19:00 about horse meat there’s actually a lot of illegal sale of horses for meat in Ohio.
I live in Ohio and I’ve heard the sugar creek jokes but never actually put it together, oh my god????
fun british fact: like 10 years ago it got found out that some big supermarket chains were selling undisclosed horse meat in burgers and stuff. i think it happened over a lot of europe. so i have most definitely eaten it before. and do you know what… clearly it was pretty good, no complaints from me (aside from the ethical complaints obviously)
This happened in South Africa too!!! It was a huge phenomenon. Also the fact that it was 10 years ago already is insane
In Quebec I would occasionally see it in grocery stores, plainly labeled as such. It would be there pretty infrequently and not a lot of quantity, but it would be right there on the shelf with the ground beef and ground pork. (It was always ground, or minced I think you guys call it)
The findus lasagna horsemeat scandal 😂😂 and I used to eat those all the time too
as a side note: they changed the tobacco rule in texas when i was 17, turning 18 (i am 20 now). they changed it bc the vaping situation got out of hand with minors so they changed to 21, however, they had this thing called the grandfather law (if you were already 18 or older when they changed the age limit, you were excused) but they ended up getting rid of that as well so now it’s 21.
lol yep. they changed it right as me and all my friends became college aged
my state changed it to 21 a few months after i turned 18 and they didn’t do the grandfather law. so i was 18 and could buy tobacco products for a little bit then suddenly the law changed no one would even sell me a lighter for another 2+ years.
I love when shows do location puns like that
like hauntlywood, boo York and londoom in monster high
“Pegasisters” 😂 I choked on air laughing
Fun fact: we register dogs like horses. Lots of horses don’t go by the name that they are bet under. They have normal names. If your registering a dog with the akc no 2 dogs can have the same name so a lot of dogs have crazy long names. And then a “call name” they go by in everyday life.
I refer to your podcast as "the burpy girls" to my partner cos he always gets impressed by your burps 😄 loved this ep! Sarah, you are a clever cookie 🍪
brittany: the term BROny doesn’t seem inclusive for women
*brittany’s pseudonym last name being BROski*
sarah and brittany being pinkie and applejack is so great bc pinkie and aj are actually canonically cousins
sarah mentioning that their brother chewed off their barbie’s hands reminded me that i literally did the same thing when i was like 7. my barbie’s hands were literally just weird nubs with no fingers
My cat really liked barbie hands and chewed up every barbie he could find
some of mine were like that too but it was from my cats
Does anyone else remember when Taco Bell came out and said " we no longer serve horse meat" 😂😂
when they showed the picture of the old ponie toy, somthing clicked, I remember those things could take out an eye, if you held onto the tail hair and span it that shit became a fullon projectile, and they were made out of like hard plastic, i rember it having some definite heft to it lol
Yeah the bulky old ones😂 them shits were absolutely hard as fuck
i’ve never called myself a bronie but my little pony is fr my comfort show cuz i’ve watched it since before the show was even made 😭😭
You both need to watch the 4th generation or whatever you called it with the ponies you took the test for. I’m 40 and I put it on for background noise while cleaning house and ended up watching the whole damn thing. It is just cute. lol. I can see you both watching it though
Also sorry for commenting so much, this is something I’m kinda passionate abt :,0
I spent the day at Disneyland with one of the voice actors for that show! Lmaoo trust me when I say, this man was definitely a Bronie and would not stop talking about the show to me! Every line we stood in, he would talk to the kids around us and tell them who he was to get their reaction. My friend and I were dying lmaooo. He was super nice but I just know he loves that fan art hahahah 😂
I hope there is an explanation to the appropriation of MLP and other online seemingly innocent and neutral spaces by extremist groups because this seems to be a very common phenomenon. There has to be a specific process, studied and explained. You have brought up very good points guys, this was an excellent episode ☺️
Ok yes there are male horses in the show, and Spike, the dragon, is also a boy.
Hi I would love if you guys could some time cover the huge issue with (mostly men) who are lead singers in bands and take advantage of their younger (mostly minor girl) fans. It seems like there is a never ending line of frontmen, or anyone who makes music & tours really, that are later revealed to be predators/sex offenders.
This whole episode unlocked my memories of my high school brony phase I had with my ex…guys I had earrings of the ponies. Glad I moved on from that.
My abusive ex from high school got into mlp after I broke up with him and I thank the universe that I got away from that
@@KingOfGaymes Damn I’m glad you got out.
sending thoughts and prayers xxxx
Just got back from the zoo and now I get to pack a bowl and watch this. Best Monday tbh
Sarah’s face when Brittany was fake laughing at the term “ass” 😂😂 I always get uncontrollable giggles when I listen to y’all. Love you both!
To the weirdo in the last videos comments responding to everyone’s trauma with brony old men with “ Not all Bronies T_T “ …. Leave that bs in last week thanks
Men can never be quiet when people bring up their issues with them can they.. 💀
That Junkie person was in so many comments being defensive af whenever people brought up valid criticism and problems. So disgusting and disrespectful.
Straight up why are we out in here in the year 2022 telling a GROWN MAN not to invalidate people's trauma cuz he feels "targeted"
Also you'd think if the video annoyed him so bad he'd just not watch it?
them not being able to understand that smoking is 21+ federally now 😭
The way Brittany said “I know I’m an earth pony :/“ girl I felt that
I simply need you guys to watch the last bronycon video that jenny nicholson put out so you can understand bronies from an insider, a horse famous expert if you will.
Having seen that video at least 6 times, I feel very unsatisfied by their coverage of the fandom.
izzyzz also has some amazing videos going deeper into some niche corners of the MLP fandom!
@@shycherrygirl same! that’s like one of my comfort videos and i just was thinking about it THE WHOLE TIME i watched this
I remember I had MLP's before they had the shows but they were the regular horse ones that look like real horses and in the hoove one had a magnet and I could use her hoove to unlock secret drawers in this stable/room thing that came with them
It blew my mind as a born and raised Californian when I went out of state that you couldn't rock up to a 24 hr Safeway at 1 am and buy a bottle of Smirnoff. States rights? I feel restricted.
In Utah it’s super restrictive, they don’t even open liquor stores on Sundays or some holidays which like, yay for employees having days off but why not just put that shit in a grocery or convenience store?
did no one catch Sarah's unintentional pun at 55:30? "the UNBRIDLED perversion" ??? I'm rolling
please dear god i want to see their reaction to seeing that cheese sandwich is voiced by weird al
Sarah, you got so excited over them being lesbians that I thought I would mention that it is heavily implied that Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack are a couple in the last episode -- not exactly representation but it's something
bro if eczema made me shiny I'd never complain again im so DRY
Holy shit the timing y’all dropped this is so good. I literally just packed a bowl. Gonna take some bong rips and enjoy the episode 😂💕
thats so cool
me too dawgy
ayy im high on edibles rn lol
welp. i'd like to thank this two-parter for unlocking my childhood memories of imagining the 90's/00's ponies (g2 if the google pics are correct?) running/dancing alongside the bus/car during long journeys
Perfect just in time so I can eat dinner and be an iPad kid
My coworker and I bonded over a random phrase from this podcast - love you guys ❤️
✨walk a mile in these hoovitins✨
I'm sobbing into a pile (mountain almost) of paperwork at my kitchen table can't wait to watch this when I clear it and sit down for lunch
in Ontario, Canada, our government runs the liqour and has stores called the LCBO where you can get all kinds of alcohol, but recently they started letting beer and wine be sold in grocery stores
Do you guys have private liquor stores there as well?
@@cutiepatoot8864 nope just the government ones
@@defiantender crazy! I've only ever lived in Sask and BC so never thought to look up other liquor laws in Canada. Though I already think ours are barbaric.
More and more stuff put on that table and that laptop every single episode i love y’all so much pls never change
once again begging yall to watch the jenny nicholson video on the brony fandom. it's so good i've rewatched it more than i would like to admit
I had the worst day at work and came home to see a new episode that made me feel so much better. I love you guys ❤️
Yall should watch Jenny Nicholsons video about bronies. She was actually a voice actor on some brony (fan?) content, so was kind of a niche fandom microcelebrity. Her insights were really detailed and interesting.
it's been 2 eras of internet and i STILL have not seen 2 girls 1 cup. i plan to keep it that way.
“I’m going to speech therapy but it’s not clicking” same girl but with actual therapy
Wow so quirky
@@anahand4137 I didn’t post this to validate anyone, i posted this to poke fun at myself, not anyone else🙃
@@anahand4137 i don't really see how anyone could misinterpret that. no one thinks speech therapy and physical therapy are less valid than mental health therapy, if anything it's the other way around. people just shorten mental health/psycho- therapy to just therapy
Deadass dropped this as I peeled my ass out of bed thank you for the lil treat for getting up
I love this podcast so much!
In France for a school trip, still the first videos I click on when y'all update the pod
1:45 I felt that in my soul
I grew up in Missouri where you can buy hard liquor, wine coolers, and beer absolutely everywhere. Hearing them confused about liquor at the grocery store is wild 😂
Same lol 😅
I felt the same after moving to Illinois. Like, just at the Walgreens too?? Haha
@@hannahtucker4694 when I was 20 I vacationed in orange beach Alabama and lemme tell you I was SHOCKED that we couldn’t go buy a bottle at like 9:30 pm cause they stopped selling at 9 😂

i’ve never been this early to an episode, but I love that I’m early to this because my mom loves my little ponies & i literally buy any plush ponies i find & now i’m realizing she may possibly be a bronie 💀😂
It’s a really good and healthy thing to connect with more innocent and childish content especially when it’s things you grew up with (but doesn’t have to be) I think since being grown up is so hard and stressful and it gets really dark being able to watch something purely innocent and optimistic is almost therapeutic.
But then the sickos come in and ruin it…
The beef jerky and laneige lip mask on Sarah’s side made me laugh so hard
They should do a part three. For one of my college finals I had to write an essay on this and their is a document to watch. They should do a live reaction
this took me back to 4th grade when I would look up My Little Pony on my moms phone and just so many pictures of horses with their cooters hangin put would come up. It made me embarrassed to like the show EVEN THOUGH I WAS THE TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC
