- So we needed a replacement, and this was the suitable one.. but sadly I couldn't afford a good one, so I got the cheapest, highest milage one I could find!
Yes it's a transporter T5! These are by far the coolest looking vans and probable have the most reliable engines.. and they can tow the most out of the 'shorter' vans, so for that reason they are the most expensive vans, so we got a cheap one haha! - Авто та транспорт

I built a bike van a couple of years ago and made the bed fold up flat against one side so you could still use it as a van and load bikes in it and then when you wanted to sleep in it you just folded the bed down from the side 👍

Lee if u put the key in ignition hold the unlock button and switch on till the lights come on the dash for about 20 seconds the key should work after that used to happen on my a4 sometimes. Always worked after i did that.
Always had a soft spot for transporter since I drive one although that was a 2018 model. I just love the practicality even though I don't need it

Bought myself a dog of a T5 a couple of weeks back with no working electrics so ive basically studied the wiring diagrams for these and have most of them saved if you want any of them! My central locking was intermittment too and this is controlled by the convenience module which lives under the drivers seat. There's a blue/red striped wire giving power to the module and it's a common fault for the joint in this wire to corrode a little way back into the loom, maybe 15-20cm 😀

Regarding airbag light mate i dunno if you're bothered about it or not but if you get it scanned and find which airbag it is thats faulty, a 2ohm resistor (can get them off ebay) is your friend. I swapped my seats in my mk4 golf and the plug was different. A resistor in each plug turned the airbag light off :)

My T5 is on 430,000 miles on the original engine (remapped 1.9PD) and runs like a dream. 1 gearbox rebuilt and 2 clutches, other than that, just regular servicing and wear and tear parts
With the locking I had the same issue. The barrel when taking the key out wasn’t fully clicking to its start state so the van wouldn’t lock as it thought it had a key in the ignition still.
Bump stops on rear due to the adjusters on the coils being at the bottom when they should be at the top at a guess
Got a lot of van there for the money they have gone mental expensive the last couple of years good luck with it
The vibration will be the dual mass if it does away when driving
*They don't rust? You're in for a surprise Lee. I've got s Caddy Maxi with the same 1.9 on 311K miles and it's sweet as. A map transforms them but you'll probably need to do the clutch. Especially if towing. Nice purchase tho matey!*

Central locking is corroded crimp under driver seat, knocking will be driveshaft most likely. Look forward to the camper conversion!

Press the unlock and lock on the key lee it works with some cars try different positions in the ignition aswell dude

That box of bits in back had a split charger an power inverter if u didnt know
u run power wire from battery to the spit charger an from that too your leausure battery

Recently brought a T5 wirh 214k for 2800, needed tidying but runs good which is key for me. Spend some hours tidying and it'll be worth a fair bit more but i may keep it of its too nice to sell.
Made me giggle when he said it had a better engine than a T4 although the t4s a bomb proof engine that millage is still seen as pretty low for a t4
On a t5 its most definitely on its secound engine or rebuild.. i have had both in the past and will only ever own a t4 now
Mint van.. is it not the lock and unlock button on the actual key with the ignition on. I know that's how vauxhall used to be.

out an turn micro switch behind with flat blade screw driver in lock position an horn well do short beep

Put the key in the ignition turned on the press the unlock and lock button on the key fob on by one two or three times.

Gearboxes shit themselves on the 1.9. I paid over 1k for a box repair on mine, good luck!
They are strong boxes, spirited daily and it takes it all. 560Nm of torque and she’s just ticked over 175k miles, engine and gearbox are just about broken in👍🏻
@Divinitatem They are notorious for the 5th gear bearing going, which allows movement in the shaft and trashes the box casing from the inside. If they're caught early (whining, grinding) they're half the cost to repair.
Mine is sat on 243k, i bought with the gearbox failure a few years back. 👍

Should of got a t4 and done the pd 130 engine conversion I had had both and the t5 is 👎common for electrical problems there a nightmare when they go wrong
If u can't sort your central locking take the drivers seat out there is a thick red wire under the carpet follow it bout 8" you will find a metal crimp they corrode bad cut It off and rejoin it its a common fault 👍

@@itsleelockwood Sorry I didn't realise you tried pressing the key button while it was in the ignition. Did it not work? Maybe try holding the button (on the key) while it is in the ignition? I was going by the bit at 9:40 where you were looking for the button in the cabin trying to re-sync it.

To sync the key turn on IGNITION holding the unlock button. Wait a couple of seconds while holding unlock and then press lock button on the key.
This should resync the key.

Don’t map it’s a shit 1.9. You NEEEEEEEED to buy a battered fabia vrs and convert it. Very easy and you’ll get a proper ASZ PD130 which will be a lovely quick thing and a 6 speed box. CONTENTTTTTTTTTT
Pd with 250k just run in and can be played with for more power easily good buy at 3 bags

I bought one the day before you released this that’s on 288k with engine problem would have been a perfect UA-cam van as I’m hoping it’s a £45 fix if not then it’s turbo but there 450 brand new so cheap fix really also

For £3k it's a bargain! PD130 engine swap it, and remap it to 170 bhp be a lot better for towing. 6 speed box while you put the engine in too 😅

Transporters are done to the death. Always break down. The worst two Vans ive owned. 2.5 tdi and 1.9pd engine. Cam wear on 2.5 tdi constant issues.
1.9tdi pd slow as shit, if you remap them and put hybrid turbo you will throw a rod or snap your cam belt.
Plus everyone thinks your a corn on the cob.

Mercedes Om611 engine getrag gearbox will go for a million miles sprinter engines. Il never buy a VW product again.
T28 is not ideal for towing.
