*DISASTER* WHILST OFF-ROADING!

- So are are continuing where we left off from the last video, where we took the newly bought Land Rover Discovery TD5 on to its first proper off roading mission into Wales! We got through most of the day green landing and off roading in Wales without MUCH issue.. a few of us got stuck a few times but in general, it was going ok! UNTIL DISASTER STRUCK!
Can we ever come back from this?

yeah thats what im thinking. That would damage the pistons as water cant compress.
Even if the engines not been damaged that poor old disco will have problem after problem now with its electrics! Doing this is fine if it’s a quick wade even at this level but why anyone would even try this without having a fully watertight air intake and a raised or water proof ECU is beyond me!
As for the lad saying start it and rev it up to clear it through… not the best advice I’ve heard.
He drives it in there, then expects someone else to bring a rope to pull him out while he keeps his feet dry! And he had it left in gear 🙄

they disconnected the pipe to it before trying 🤣🤣
the water was on the dirty side, the filter blocked most of the flow so you can't tell how much if any was ingested.

hes lucky he died where it did. i was at that river that day and the flow was way too strong to drive. it would have taken that car down stream with no issues.

In Australia we have a saying “if it’s flooded forget it“ … people drown every year trying to get through flooded, rivers or creeks!
Anyway, I really quite enjoy the four-wheel-drive content as well. Keep it up !!
Right, so it's in gear and the wheels don't go round still so it's clearly hydrolocked (not hard on a high CR derv engine) and they say "see if it will start" :-) lol, right, that's gonna work ain't it.. (Drop the glow plugs, spin it to clear the water, dry the MAF, then try. if you're lucky the rods ain't bent the rings aint broke, but chances are that's very dead indeed......
Great couple of episodes Lee, makes me miss my off-roading days! I do have a TD5 myself still but unmodified.... at the minute anyway!

They drove up a lane to get there, didn't they ? some comments have said it was a forestry road, - and they shouldn't have been using it...........I've no idea if thats true or not, BUT, the authorities are always looking at ways to re-classify vehicular rights of ways, and these antic's play right into their hands, to say nothing of the possible pollution from oils etc . And No I'm not a spoilsport, I use drive byways myself.......only I do it responsibly. Lee said it himself........No Way.

They had the pipe too the turbo clear off water befor they looked at starting it plus td5s can take that and still start absolutely fine 🙂

I’ve been a big fan of lees for a while now and really in to off roading.
I watched these last 2 episodes and thought ok there’s some bits id do different defo have tested that water first but hey ho .
I thought throttle mayhem who are these people lees out with I was about to get on the band wagon and thought let’s give them a shot I’ve got Covid so not working 😢
So I watched there first ever vid then second then third then I was hooked

Not funny, not clever, had the car continued in to the heavy flow, it would have been a matter of survival. Simply reckless, no appreciation of the dangers. Instead of laughing, the video maker should do his utmost to dissuade those trying to cross the swollen stream. Imagine the cost and risk to life in an emergency rescue.
I've driven through there in a discovery in the summer....absolutely mental to try when the river is that high!! 🤣

Lee - Did you actually get to fix the engine ? I hope you understand that this video is how not to do it and not only fording but recovery was highly dangerous. I hope no one got hurt other than egos, and the lady who went in where the "lads" was ok.

Living in the bush in Tanzania during the 50' & 60' this was a commonplace during the rainy season. Its amusing to me that its a hobby/sport in the UK. I did however secretly enjoy getting stuck in our various series 1's & 2's.

make sure on your airbox on the td5 the drain plug is sealed up with silicone cause even if you have a snorkel it will get sucked in through there good vid as always keep on offroading
or else dont drive in lakes

A comedy of errors. Firstly that river would tip the vehicle and could easily drown everyone in the car. And why even have a snorkel if you don't bother to ensure the airbox is sealed? Then the guy telling the driver to quickly start it up and push through all the water. Jesus christ, sell the truck before someone gets hurt.
