Then again, while editing this video, I look around Los Angeles and never truly noticed how many gray Honda Civics are running around here. Seems like every 20th car is one of them!

This is one of my favorite you tube series thank you! It would be interesting to compare men's perception of what cars women find attractive vs the reality of what cars women find attractive... I would guess there's a big (and expensive) disconnect.
That's pretty much what this series is! Especially THIS episode.
I think it's pretty obvious what most MEN think women find to be attractive (sports cars, BMWs, etc). But already, you can see how the scores that the women give each car vary wildly from that.
As a once-and-future Corvette owner I knew women did not respond to it... or at least not the kind women I was interested in. My Audi TT gets a lot of attention from women. I bought both cars because I like them and not to attract women.
@@TheRobGoodman Ultimately, what YOU like should be the number 1 factor in buying car. This is a social experiment that MIGHT be relevant to certain guys in certain situations, BUT mostly for fun.

Interesting idea, but might be harder to suss out via ranking which of those two cars each guy had that would be most attractive.
I do leave in most comments that women make about how good cars might be as a second car vs first car (the Jeep and DeLorean episodes touch on this, for example).

@@RetroCarsForever That happened to me with my black Civic, I quickly learned that lots of people own black civics! I had to look for whatever I had hanging off the rearview mirror or remember my license plate number.
Of course this video called to me! Haha. Second place! Not bad! I liked the commentary about taking the Civic to Trader Joe's. Sounds about right.
Ironically, we take our Corvette to Trader Joes ALL THE TIME! (Actually has decent luggage space)

This is my favorite series right now; I can't wait to see the upcoming Mazda. I feel like it's gotta do well because it's practical, reliable, but just a little luxurious. It'd be fun to see even more people react, and then maybe the women get to see the guys after ranking and adjust their scores. :p That might be too much of a roast though.
Getting even more cars would be fun too, but I guess that could dilute things. For instance, a newer Mustang, newer Corvette, maybe another Honda-like brand, etc.

The amount of car guys out there who think hybrids/evs are actually WORSE for the environment is astounding.

case in point: when many cities shut down during covid, within days pollution cleared up dramatically, yet hardly any mines/refineries etc. shut down by comparison. where/how do we get minerals, metals, chemicals etc. to make batteries? - mines/refineries etc.
They are actually showing a honda insight, not a honda civic when they are referencing hybrids.

the only vehicle I have not bought based on practicality is my corvette.
current daily drives are two suzuki, (swift & jimny ) and a Holden crewman.
would I buy a hybrid? not sure as one criteria i have for any vehicle I buy is that I can do any and all repairs it may require. ha ha, I'll probably be dead by the time all vehicles are required to be hybrid or electric
Yeah, you see Barbara eyeing the two engine bays of the gas vs hybrid and wondering how easy maintenance would be on the hybrid...She has a point!

Absolutely! Guess that works a lot better than the "loud exhaust noise" card, or the "super fast car" card, or even the "headlights flip over" card!
I imagine civic owners are hyped for self driving cars because they are not car people.
I think most non enthusiasts can’t wait for that! And yes, I think the Civic tends to appeal more to non enthusiasts
I wish you would do more "Video" with the same exact girls. We should clone "Jenny" so all of us can have one. She is like a 997 Turbo s cabriolet, with black exterior and red interior, just perfect.

It's funny is that I found this video searching for why women like Honda civics because I was just looking up what vehicles are most purchased by women and usually a Honda's at the top of that list with Civic is number one

Honda is certainly a good make of car. at one point in time we looked at getting a Honda jazz, loved so much of the practicality of it. didn't eventuate.
two years later ended up with a brand new suzuki jimny instead. my wife chose it. go figure.
I LOVE the Jimny, whenever I'm in another country I'm incredibly jealous of them (we havent had a small fun cute SUV here in USA in DECADES).
I just leased a 2021 Honda Civic. I love the makeup of the car, how practical it is, and it gets great gas mileage. Plus it is a ton of fun to drive! Oh and I’m single. So I was glad to see the single women take a liking to it. Keep up the great work on these videos man!

I think ANY car can be an enthusiast car, if the owner is enthused about owning it!
Is the long term effect outweigh the downsides? When you basically have to throw these cars away after a certain number of years, 15 max id bet more or less based on how you drive.
I dont follow what you're saying. The average life expectancy of a car is around 8 years. The average for a Civic is WELL beyond that, more like 15 to 20 years.
For sheer dependability, the Civic is one of the best cars you can buy (and pretty cheap to keep going).

that owner is lying to himself, the interior is way more cramped then the exterior size, its like a reverse tardis, like how does honda do it?
I've been in these, and while not HUGE, there decent space in there. Especially compared to older Civics.
Is there a modern car in this class that you think does a better job of packaging?
I do like the type R
I dont love the NEW Type R, cant stand the garish styling, but the older ones were awesome.

The civic hybrid they are showing pictures of is not a civic at all, but a honda insight.
These women who think a honda insight is a honda civic are not dateable at all. They know nothing about the civic.
If it matters, I put that picture of the Insight later in post to illustrate the point, the women never saw any photos of it. They only ever saw the normal Honda Civic in question.
For clarity's sake I told them it was a "version of the Civic" which was true, as that Insight was based heavily on the Civic.
The steel doesn't rust! Japanese steel is better than American.
Really? I've seen plenty of rusted out Japanese cars back in the midwest. If anything they seemed to rust faster, maybe because of the thinner steel.
What's better about the Japanese steel?
And heck, do they even USE Japanese steel any more, now that they're all built in America anyways?

Just another video to prove I have no idea what goes through a woman's mind lol. I get that women want stability but... if you have a sports car, you likely have a second car for practical purposes, no one talks about their daily driver base model Civic at parties but they will talk about their track spec S2000 they're building or Mustang they kept since high school.
Right now, I'm an engineering student with a S2000 and I get that a lot of women think it's too flashy and all but... I live at home and I'm single, I really have no need for a "practical" car when my mom has a VW hybrid she barely drives that I can use when I need to carry people. It is kinda disappointing to think that women think a guy with a sports car is not practically minded or responsible because it totally depends on the situation. I know how to fix cars and I don't drive much or have to carry much, why NOT get the car I want to drive instead of a boring base model economy car that costs MORE than my car in the first place?

I never would've thought so, but apparently it is!
This was not that upsetting. I was expecting it to be almost all 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
The idea that women do not like sports cars has largely been done to death, but this is certainly a fresh take.
I am more interested in what specific women on the panel think than the panel as a whole. I tend to date women like Jenny. I tend to be attracted to women like Amanda. And I tend to attract women like Bri or Dana.
If there is sufficient interest, maybe consider doing a series of panelist-specific videos at the end. Possibly with extended cuts of the interviews.
I was surprised, personally.
Some women DO love sports cars...Look how many women buy Ford Mustangs, for example.
I think this was more enlightening not even from a gender perspective, but also from a non-enthusiast perspective. Particularly the idea that a totally normal/safe car shows that they AREN'T an enthusiast, and that's attractive to some because it shows they have bigger things on their mind than just their car.
I love Civics, but does that make me a woman? 🤔

This would've been a much better sample group if they weren't all "LA women" with the virtue signaling, etc. They might be different ethnicities and in to different hobbies, but they all have that "LA"-ness. Should've gotten some women from other states into the mix.
These women ARE from different states. That's something I was looking for.
@@RetroCarsForever That's surprising to hear, I can't think of any women when I was in high school, college, or an adult that would be like "oh boy! Civic!" The Hybrid attraction is definitely a southern Cali, Portland OR, and uppity New York-area thing, I've never seen people care that much elsewhere in the US. But I get it, you got who you could get and probably did the best you could.
I refuse to date a woman who thinks a honda insight is a civic hybrid. Actually, there is no known version of a 2016-2021 honda civic hybrid.

Honda's aren't that reliable. Transmission is weak
I've heard that, but seems that Honda has cleaned up their act in recent years. I couldn't find any hard evidence out there that seems to suggest that this particular car has anything but stellar reliability.
