lets start things off by taking a look at Treehouse of Horror III an episode I have actually spoken about but in a different context. Today I talk about the episode itself, and I revisit the speculation surrounding the unaired version and what changes were made .

Considering its the Al Jean/Mike Reiss era I suspect the original draft was maybe too referential to the point of concerns about infringement, but I'm not sure. It'd align with the bit you mentioned about Shirley Temple finding the scene where her character is eaten offensive, plus the "boy and his doll" line feeling like an inaccurate descriptor.
The show's always had a weird continuity with real life parody. They used to openly reference Star Wars ("I Married Marge" did this, for example), but now they riff on the in-universe equivalent "Cosmic Wars", or they'd reference Nintendo or Apple but now its "Funtendo" and "Mapple".
Starting October early I see…. Lol.
The Kristin doll segment is my favorite segment of this episode. That hyper exaggerated grin and bulging eyes as he tries to kill Homer always gets me. That doll is so into it. And I the end when he hooks up with Lisa’s doll I always found it hilarious, but sad. Possibly due to the doll behaving like a normal person and resorting to go to a dollhouse and banging what pretty much amounts to a (headless) sex doll, in his POV.

Shit I never noticed R Buckminster Fuller on a tombstone before. That dude is legendary. Look him up, and his book Critical Path, if you like science and engineering and maybe saving the planet from itself.... just noted the "I'm with stupid bit" just killer. RBF had over 20 degrees and patents
