Probably my favorite Meshuggah song. This song is especially intense for me because about a month ago, I found myself caught driving in one of the heaviest thunderstorms I'd ever witnessed, and I had this song playing loud!
MrJambiwana not really. Check out the live cut of this song, and watch for Marten and Fredrik. Bang on one and three. Not that hard. /watch?v=aK6mBu-nZjo
"One single image frame I wish to forget Now replayed in succession of millions The one second I will always regret My hell found in its reiteration" What a beautifully poetic and succinct way to describe a chronic feeling of regret. Tomas is a genius with his lyrics as well as percussion. The fact that English is not his first language makes this even more impressive.
This is probably my favourite Meshuggah lyric. Imagine following through on an impulse that doesn't fit who you consider yourself to be, and then being unable to change that you have in fact done it, no matter what type of person you normally think you are. I think it's about the fragility of morals and identity. We're more of a mishmash of random urges and emotions than some complete personality package. "Trapped in a ceaseless fever of spite An unending fit of resentment and anger Caught in a moment of unforgiveness In the snapshot of a hate filled second The speechless flickering of uncomprehending eyes -Dilated in disbelief Your vacant gaze distorted Twisted in its accusing glare Teeth glimmering in emotional rage Spit of hate suspended in mid-air Bodies strained in fury Devoured by jaws of despair One single image frame I wish to forget Now replayed in succession of millions The one second I will always regret -My hell found in its reiteration Held within the visualization The continuous rerun of my own violence A fraction of time perpetuated By my regretful soul animated Please forgive the evil in me - The darkness within Ferocious, inherent demon Adrenaline gland resident Threatened subconscious snake, Repressed into striking coil Surfacing that black second, Ascending with the boil"

Meshuggah. Literally the grooviest metal band of all time.. Always follow Tomas' right hand.. It shall never steer you in the wrong direction. ;Ragnar Lothbrok
“Guess you guys aren’t ready for that, but your kids are going to love it... well, to be honest, some of your kids are going love it. Like, be OBSESSED with it..to a fault. And a much larger percent of the populace will fucking hate it. I mean fucking HATE IT. And some will form a genre out of this sound, and beat it to the ground like a dead horse...”
I saw MESHUGGAH 15 years ago when they toured with Tool. Back then I didn't know who they were, but I've been keeping track of them ever since, and they're definitely one of my favorite bands now. Thanx 4 posting!
Chris Hagy my father went to that same concert tour when i was like 4 and kept saying he was going to see tool. but i nevee understood till he got back and played me this and tool haha
Me too! But I had nosebleed seats and the sound blew up there so I still didn't really have a clue...fucking kills me that I fucking love them now and haven't Sen them since! Ugh
+Bob Jones Chaosphere? Interesting that you like Catch 33 and then you like Nothing. I feel like all the Catch 33 folk are in a distinct crowd. That's my least favorite album.
holygroove2 I like all the Meshuggah albums, to me Catch 33 is amazing, I is pretty cool but it's like 90% random rhythms. I didn't like Meshuggah at all until I listened to Catch 33.
Bob Jones I hear you. I came in through Chaosphere and Nothing. Catch 33 was my least favorite. I've noticed that Catch 33 and Chaosphere are the albums that bring people in, and people tend to mention one or the other.
holygroove2 I think maybe Catch 33 brings in more of a prog dudemanguy and Chaosphere brings in more of a general metalhead. I think that if I listened through Chaosphere first I would just think that they were another death metal band.
Listening to Meshuggah at work is dangerous...every once in awhile I come to and realize I have gone catatonic for the entire song and have not gotten shit done.
Maaaan there isn't one "bad" album that they've made. Seriously. Chaosphere, Nothing, Obzen, Koloss, Destroy Erase Improve, Catch 33, I, None, Rare Trax, Contradictions Collapse would be my order. Koloss keeps growing on me. Nothing was my first album, but New Millenium was my first song, so Chaosphere is my fav.
Yikes, snobbish comment alert. Could've ended it at "so beautiful" but you had to add in your distaste for "mainstream trash". Is your perspective any different seven years on? Might want to update your opinion if so.
I've been a huge metal music fan since i was 12 and Meshuggah (to me at least) still seems one of the only bands in the extreme metal genre that can excite me. i don't like most bands anymore as i grow older...
@OurLucidDream519 He's actually REALLY good. He picks each tone very carefully -- he's not just screaming. In a very subtle way, he actually carries a pitch. This particular song doesn't do a great job exemplifying this, but in certain other songs, like Corridor of Chameleons, you can really tell he's "singing" his screams.
seen them live twice..they are the loudest most intence bassy as fuck band ive ever seen...plus they help me find the light in the black tar filled sulpher layered abyss which is my life
Saw them on their violent sleep world tour and it was amazing. They played born in dissonance and I've never seen a whole crowd lift 3 feet into the air simultaneously, it was very memorable as I was pinned against the front row security gate pinballing my way through the sea of people flying all around me. It was intense but magic.
@guitaristman23 The drums play polyrhythms throughout the song. The intro is a polyrhythm of 4/4 and 7/8. the kick drum exclusively follows the guitars as in most Meshuggah tracks
When I listen to Meshuggah I imagine an argument between Jens and aliens. Aliens speak bass and Tomas can't handle it and start playing over those tastefull lines
This and Catch 33 both have very good longevity. I can listen to those two albums for ever. I do love the others but I think you may find what you're looking for with catch, if you give it the time it deserves :)
Agree with dhjl...this band is amazing..all their albums offer something different. I didnt approve at first either but now..its gold. All their albums.
friend: hey what are you listening too? me: nothing friend; but i can hear music... me: i know friend: so what are you listening to then!!! me: i already told you...nothing friend: okay whatever me: would u mind not yelling at me, im trying to listen to nothing friend: >:(
Those that do not comprehend polyrythmics Can't possibly respect this kind of music and Its choatic buauty and genius. For among chaos is found the greatest of order and complexness in mathematics. @MrKM86 To my knowledge, cardiac arrest (AKA asystole) is not a shockable rhythm. However, the time-bending rhythms of Meshuggah could certainly cause atrial or ventricular fibrillation. Perhaps even pulseless electrical activity in prolonged exposure. ;)
@SunFlightx It's about the syncopation and the intersecting rhythms (not necessarily poly-rhythms but along the lines of them in essence), not about the time signature. And they're not trying to stick to a genre, they play what comes out of their HEARTZ OMG

@MyEggIsBoiled well it is mathmatical to an extent. but as far as signatures are concerned most of their songs are all 4/4, most of the riffs go for 4 measures with 4 beats each, it's just that the riffs don't end on each beat which creates that movement around the beat and gives it that groove. and then they just cut off the end of the riff so it fits correctly in 4 measures.
Why is it that there is always somebody, on every Meshuggah video, that only likes certain things by Meshuggah. It's rare that you find someone who loves every single thing they've ever released. I mean... The only full length that I haven't gotten into 100% is Contradictions Collapse and that's probably just because I haven't listened to it that much. But, I absolutely LOVE all of Meshuggah's albums. Why are there so little TRUE Meshuggah fans?
@LukosMelanos Your entitled to your own opinion, but from a guitarists perspective its a ton of fun to play and when I listen to it it just always keeps me guessing and trying to figure out the time signatures and patterns in my head. It also keeps things interesting for me.
Im the exact same way. If I listen to Contradictions collapse more, I'll probably get into it. Actually, no fuck that, I WILL get into it. This is Meshuggah we're talking about after all...
@dujl I think a lot of the added bass is a result of how high the guitars are in the mix, which is another point that I don't like as much because it makes it harder to hear the drums, which are a really essential element for my appreciation of this band
buying this album is awesome cause you can go home and say to people that you bought nothing
Gives this album as a gift.
Recipient: wow! You shouldn’t have...
Me: ah, it was Nothing
Thanks for Nothing, Meshuggah
(I'm replying to a 9 yo comment)
Hi!
@Larry the Lion A+ reference
Apparently when Meshuggah toured for this album there was "nothing" on the setlist from Nothing. Le epic troll
Probably my favorite Meshuggah song. This song is especially intense for me because about a month ago, I found myself caught driving in one of the heaviest thunderstorms I'd ever witnessed, and I had this song playing loud!
***** Yes sir!
Thou were blessed by the power of thee, cyber-vikings known as MESHUGGAH.
Kenny Gates I bet that was dope man! :)
that was fredrik thorendal blessing from the sky
Kenny Gates i wanted it that way
"So, what do you have for breakfast?"
"Nothing."
Lump of Coal 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Meshuggah. And more Meshuggah.
Meshuggah and coffee
"So what do you have for lunch?"
"Nothing Remastered."
someone explain this to me..please
quick everybody un-synchronized headbanging to the beginning!
MrJambiwana i laugh so hard at people who can't get that right. awkward headbanging is so damned entertaining.
***** doing it to the snare confuses everybody
MrJambiwana not really. Check out the live cut of this song, and watch for Marten and Fredrik. Bang on one and three. Not that hard.
/watch?v=aK6mBu-nZjo
naah its not that hard its just in front of people who don't know the song it looks pretty funny
keeping time with them is easy.
I love how they made the album cover the same face that their fans make when listening to Nothing for the first time.
@Sean Sullivan 👏
Most people are like "yeah man I play this song when I'm stomping heads bra". I'm like "nah dude....I play this when i crochet. Fuckin' killer, brah"
I play this when I read youtube comments brah

Meshuggah. Literally the grooviest metal band of all time..
Always follow Tomas' right hand..
It shall never steer you in the wrong direction.
;Ragnar Lothbrok
Only in Combustion the right hand counts the off-beat instead of the beat
Yes
You gotta stop saying literally.
You can headbang at any moment and you'll never be out of tempo
That opening bass is fucking artillery, wow
I dig that analogy.
And i just got shell shocked
I've came here for my daily dose of
KunKanKunkurunKungKunKanKunkurunKungKunKanKunkurunKung
Pronounced "Djent"
cant tell if internet sarcasm or just cool dood
+Pensar mejor es mejor-arte
New Genre: KunkanKunkurun
i love how this is the actual rhythm of the first riff hahaha
Yep, it ain't a day without at least a few 1's and 0's thrown in.
I swear to god meshuggah has some of the most intriguing lyrics in terms of metal music, it’s so raw
2:49 is one of my favorite riffs of all time and space.
Yes this feeling at the end 🤩
McFly plays this in 1955 :D
*"IS FUCKING SATAN FUCKING CONTROLLING HIM WHAT??!"*
3:40 : one of the best ending of Meshuggah
I saw MESHUGGAH 15 years ago when they toured with Tool. Back then I didn't know who they were, but I've been keeping track of them ever since, and they're definitely one of my favorite bands now. Thanx 4 posting!

Meshuggah never cease to amaze me.
Meshuggah is the king of outros.
Yeah is kinda weird how the songs progress from being 100% aggressive to almost melodical at the end
2:50-3:16 makes me feel as if I'm being chased by a swarm of bees.
lmao
I think of that during the solo of the song Swarm
A swarm of bees controlling a gigantic stomping mech
My favourite Meshuggah tune, with Soul Burn of course
This and pineal gland optics for me
You guys are lucky. I wish I could narrow it down to less than like ten favorites lol!
Soul Burn, Future Breed Machine, Glints Collide, PGO and this
I am colossus, gods of rapture and this they’re all miles apart though lol
nothing and catch 33 are my meshuggah's fabourite albums!
This song's intro conveys such a sense of impending doom, and I can't get enough of it!
Marcos Rodriguez The timing is so fucked up, the snare hits a different time everytime lol
sexy350Zowner Does it? It seems pretty regular for the most part to me.
sexy350Zowner Does it? It seems pretty regular for the most part to me.
sexy350Zowner actually the snare is constant, but the riff is played in a way that when the snare hits, it won't always be in the same note
sexy350Zowner on the 3's of a four measure bar, the guitar emphasis floats ahead or behind the beat, but the snare is constant.
i forgot how sick this cd was, ive been in a koloss trance for months..
+captain black Imo Nothing is the best Meshuggah album. Other than Catch 33 and I which get a special place aside from the rest.
+Bob Jones Chaosphere?
Interesting that you like Catch 33 and then you like Nothing. I feel like all the Catch 33 folk are in a distinct crowd. That's my least favorite album.

2:49 best solo ever
2:49 AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
never gets old
Listening to Meshuggah at work is dangerous...every once in awhile I come to and realize I have gone catatonic for the entire song and have not gotten shit done.
Amazing lyrics!
Pretty vivid description of rage fueled physical confrontation leading to deep regret, right?
just bought a ticket to see meshuggah in london. psyched!
0:26 legendary
This song and 'corridor of chameleons' are 2 of my faves.
god i love meshuggah. this is one of their best songs.
LADIES & DJENTS!
This song seriously puts me in like a trance and I just wanna freakin go crazy xD I love it!!!!
Lead up to the solo and the riff behind a solo is everything I love about Meshuggah.
My all time favorite Meshuggah song and one of my favorite Metal songs ever.
Holy fuck, I was grooving to this shit.
Yes
Such a groovy song
Meshuggah rocks!! They try to do something different each time
I banged my head at 128 bpm with the song and incredibly it fits
then...incredible.
It's just heavly syncopated 4/4. It's bound to fit.
1:57 awesome riff
im in tears
so beautiful
like a glimmering jewel amidst the sea of mainstream trash
Stfu
Yikes, snobbish comment alert. Could've ended it at "so beautiful" but you had to add in your distaste for "mainstream trash". Is your perspective any different seven years on? Might want to update your opinion if so.

This is arguably my favorite Meshuggah song
This song is literally just one gram away from collapsing Earth into a black hole
yay from the remastered verson too!!! i like the remastered one cuz the groovy guitars are more crisp, love it! thanks bro
seen them live twice..they are the loudest most intence bassy as fuck band ive ever seen...plus they help me find the light in the black tar filled sulpher layered abyss which is my life

When Nothing was first released it took me a second to figure out wtf was going on in this song. All hail Meshuggah!!!
Aliens speak bass and Tomas can't handle it and start playing over those tastefull lines
you must be on some strong shit

Perfect
Fuck this outro is fucking good
Be sure to listen in 480p!
friend: hey what are you listening too?
me: nothing
friend; but i can hear music...
me: i know
friend: so what are you listening to then!!!
me: i already told you...nothing
friend: okay whatever
me: would u mind not yelling at me, im trying to listen to nothing
friend: >:(
😃
At least tell him Who’s on first.
@@justincarrasco3680 I thought Hu was on first. Alex Hu.
Dude the drum pattern from 0:52-1:56 is so hard to figure out. Its all about that bass drum placement...ridiculously cool.
I know it’s been about 3 years; but just follow the guitar alignments; since they sync with the bass drum. Groovy asf
Pure, epic and merciless deliverance. Holy fucking shit!! This stuff slays everything..
I just fuxking love that bendy bass.
Meshuggah puts things into perspective.
Main verse riff is my favourite meshuggah riff.
Tight AF
Those that do not comprehend polyrythmics Can't possibly respect this kind of music and Its choatic buauty and genius. For among chaos is found the greatest of order and complexness in mathematics. 2:50 is is one of those segments that make you know why this band is called Meshuggah.
Wait the guitar is legit saying Me-shuuuuu-gah
meshuggah- the metal band with swag
this was the first brutal metal i like , and man this is unique
each song i listen to is groovier than the last
Beast song, such an underrated band. It's a shame...
Killer mode from 2:50 to 3:15
3:41
I like this album because it contains heavy 8 string guitars and Jens Kidman insanity which is lost in newest albums.
Yesssss
that fucking riff at 0:28 has ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT to be SO fucking TOUGH
i feel genuinely violated right now
@OurLucidDream519 Jens is one of the best singers in metal IMO. He leaves it all out there and really brings all the music together.
I started listening Meshuggah in my early 20s..didnt really comprehend the rhythm behind their songs..but realized its like wine...it gets better with age.all i listen to is Tool and Meshuggah these days..i am content with these 2
I discovered nothing about a year and a half ago, since then I have listened to nothing.
Truncation. And a lot of times the modify the motif. They don't jusy use truncation.
Years have gone by and I have adapted to the head trauma this band has given me. I may not make it through this playlist. 'Loop on' goodbye all.
Good ol' 1/4.
2:50 Bowser stage in Super Mario
fucking awesome song
the GROOVIEST of all
GO FORTH AND GRACE YOUR EAR DRUMS WITH CHAOSPHERE MY YOUNG MESHUGGAHEAD
dat snare
I never wondered what kind of music noise marines play.
But now i know.
Why is it that there is always somebody, on every Meshuggah video, that only likes certain things by Meshuggah. It's rare that you find someone who loves every single thing they've ever released. But, I absolutely LOVE all of Meshuggah's albums. Why are there so little TRUE Meshuggah fans?
Every Meshuggah album is excellent.
2:49 fredrick playing that fuckin chicken like an nvp
@LukosMelanos Your entitled to your own opinion, but from a guitarists perspective its a ton of fun to play and when I listen to it it just always keeps me guessing and trying to figure out the time signatures and patterns in my head. It also keeps things interesting for me.
The "No Rhythm Dude" Should Clap at this.
@VonJost The bass is so much bigger here, and IMO the bass is what makes the song.
Im the exact same way. If I listen to Contradictions collapse more, I'll probably get into it. Actually, no fuck that, I WILL get into it. This is Meshuggah we're talking about after all...
Thanks for making my friend laugh :P
Man just who are you? I am Meshuggah.
Meshuggah chuggah chuggah chug
@dujl eh if people know what bands you're referring to then its a valid description in my book.
@dujl I think a lot of the added bass is a result of how high the guitars are in the mix, which is another point that I don't like as much because it makes it harder to hear the drums, which are a really essential element for my appreciation of this band
