@The Desperado That ... pretty much depends on the size (and density, obviously) of the neutron star, actually. But, at last, every neutron star is pretty heavy in comparison. Also, gravity isn't really "heavy" in the classic meaning of the word, unless we're talking about Fleshgod Apocalypse's "Gravity". That one's heavy in the modern, classic and classical meaning of the word.
That snare got me fucked up.. I’ll never forget seeing these dudes play live. One of the few times I’ve “felt” the music flow through me.. It hit so hard and was just incredible to witness. Never grooved so hard
this is by far the best version of this song I've ever heard. them kicking off this live record with it was such a fucking awesome move. then again it's Meshuggah, not surprised. This song with the slightly sped-up live feel and the fact it's in their standard F rather than the low E it was recorded in just makes this live performance so much beast mode.
decades over Jens scans the crowd with his under bite scowl to find someone who knows where they are in the song and what he's saying ...and every song he loses it to the disappointment of never being able to observe this phenomena.
Jarod Albrecht I know it fucking sucks most of my favorite songs are on nothing and before nothing. Even though I do really like the song I catch 33 wasn't the best but there's a lot of great songs on obzen and I am really digging their new album I don't like it as much as their older stuff but much more than their newer albums for the most part
actually it is a polymeter, so it is both in 7/8 and 4/4 at the same time. The guitar riff is diffenitely 7/8, but the drums are 4/4 every ninth guitar measure is in 4/4, so that it makes a total of 8 4/4 measures. 8*7/8+4/4 = 8 * 4/4 Jens kidman headbangs in 7/8, while thordendal headbangs in 4/4
1996 was the first time I had the privilege to see Meshuggah opening for Clawfinger in Germany. Since then.. I am Meshuggah fan. Id like to see a Beavis & Butt-Head review on one of their songs. Bleed, New Millenium Cyanide Christ, Pravus or Future Breed Machine :P
Sam SoloMan they simply feel music completely differently. their name translated literally means "crazy", so you gotta think the way they think is completely irregular
no it's not. The two are often confused. An example of a polyrhythm would be dotted eights over straight quarter notes. That would be a 3/4 polyrhythm, since 3 quarter notes has the same duration as 4 dotted eights. But both rhythms would be in the same meter. It is called a polymeter, when there is at least 2 meters..
For the intro, you either follow jens, who follows the snare which is in 7/8 or you can follow the guitars and guitarist in 4/4. For the following part, I prefer headbanging with the hi-hat (4/4).
They claim that their songs are mostly built around rimple 4/4 rhythms, that they just dress up a bit more particularly; they claim to not think in terms of strict polyrhythms. So, I'd say, try to find an implicit 4/4 rhythm in there somewhere; I think it's there, but maybe I'm hearing things, this shit is pretty intense.
If you must know; just follow the tablature. ||:Jensman-Kidenthal-HighKick-Hagstrom|Jensmanthall-Jensmankidmanthallstrom|Hagstrom-Lovgrenthall-Hagstrom-Hagstrom-Hagstrom:|| It varies slightly between songs, but they always follow relatively similar patterns.
How to enjoy meshuggah- first- follow haake groove especially bass than his snare and cymbals work Secondaly- add those drum groove upon fred and haeg guitar wankry, just like a layer of cake

IRØN You must be fun at parties
I don't go to parties.
Heard this song live in Nov 2023, one of the best songs in the set. Not a single note missed the entire set.
Yooo I was there too. Was a nice surprise to hear this as the 2nd song
Came on after Rational Gaze when I saw them, couple Nothing bangers to get the party started
That snare got me fucked up..

It’s a life altering experience.
Just imagine Kidman's child (if he has one). If i was him i would never make my dad angry.
What a voice.
They are all headbanging in different rhythms but they are all right lol
Frfr🤣🤣
how is it possible to be this much of a badass
Imagine getting headbutted by their vocalist. The way he bangs his head, your neck would break like a fuckin toothpick.
No, when Jens headbutts, he does so to your soul, which does break like a toothpick.
One of the best fucking metal bands in the world.
Seen them 3 times and they never fail to impress.
One of the few bands willing to break the absurd boycott of playing in Israel.
Seen them twice once opening for Tool.:) can confirm.
when the polyrhythm hits u hard
Pissed off scandinavians, got to love 'em.

Every now and then I find myself having to come back to this particular song. Because the guitar solo is *BEES.*
Meshuggah is my drug.
Meshuggah is just BRUTAL. They've set the bar extremely high. Good luck up and becomers
i keep coming back to these live performance meshuggah videos. The energy they have is on another level. Its so ruthlessly powerful
in 2002 Meshuggah did Nothing
and in 2005 they remastered Nothing
No way, they made an awesome album in 2002!
well, they are the one worth millions :p
remastered was 2006?
Nothing makes sense
I just listened Nothing from Meshuggah..
verse riff makes my face look like I ate a bag of sour patch
lol, that's a funny way to describe it...I like it.
its so much crunchier than on the record
I will never hear pre-obzen meshuggah played live in america.

why not? both times ive seen them in teh USA after Obzen they played plenty of pre-obzen tracks, all the way back to Contradictions Collapse

False. They played this song in Orlando last year. Blew my dick off
I saw em in Seattle on the 24th and the ended with Future Breed Machine
Saw them about a year ago from today and they did a bunch off of Nothing and did FBM too. Wish they played more off Catch 33 tho

Awesome camera work, just awesome.
Everyone in the band is feeling that time very differently its insane... Thomas Haake is a mastermind man...
The Nothing album is the sound of pure testosterone and rhythmic genius!
my god that groove is righteous
The only band where the singer and the guitarrist can headband at different time signatures
Damn the way they open this song up was amazing! I love the lower camera angle that goes across the stage, captures meshuggah looking like gods!
Meshuggah tunes are actually quite simple, impeccable rhythm is what one must possess.
This is brutal..
Meshuggah is so...fucking...HEAVY AS FUCK. HOLY SHIT.
This song is crazy 💯🔥🔥
My favorite song to play on drums. Meshuggah is the greatest.
Anyone else notice how his voice opens up after the second verse? So badass
damn i seriously think it's the best LIVE mix I ever heard.. !!!
All through the song, this fu*** Thomas Haake is counting the time on his fuc*** hit hat. Insane!
He plays 2 songs at the same time ..
gives me chills...so good.
Jens Kidman is not a very muscular man, but I feel like he could make even the strongest man in the world cower.
He stared directly through my soul for a solid 3 seconds when I first saw them in 2022. Jens is terrifying up close & personal
Oh My Fucking God. Meshuggah always starts its songs with the best fucking feedback noises ever. I can compile them all into a new song.

i have no idea how to head-bang to this song. Is it the snare, the kick drum, the hi-hat, the bass guitar?
I listen to this tune since it came out and still I have no idea what is going on after 0:55 :D. Looks like Jens nails it though.
Aleksandar Georgiev It's not that hard mate.
