- After we started this reaction to Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog", Coach realized he had heard it before, but didn't know the lyrics. However, it was all brand-new to Mrs. Coach. What's the verdict? You'll have to watch to find out.

"This is not like the other Led Zeppelin songs" Get ready to say this literally every time you listen to another one.
So true. Do some some boston too
While they were creating this song at Headley Grange over by Wales a black dog kept coming on the property. Hence the title.
I love that you never know what you're going to get with Zeppelin except always excellence in talent.
No one can deny their talent, for sure.
musical and drumming experts are absolutely in amazed about John Bonham's rythyms in relation to the guitar and lyrics.
Zeppelin rules..
Next up from the same album led Zeppelin's Rock And Roll-major banger all the way through.
They were jokingly envious of the life of the black dog around the studio.....eating sleeping and copulating...what a perfect simple life the old black dog had haha
LOL, this is great!
12.9.23. Kashmir©️ live at Celebration day🎸
The timing in this song is to effin insane❤️🤘
Kids, start with Led Zepplin 1, then 2, then 3 and 4 ( which Black Dog) opens 4.....and remember, 1 came out in the Beatles era, ZEPPLIN kicked the door open for AC/DC...and countless others. I'm pulling for retirement to..lol. 👍
LOL...our hope is in a couple years if everything goes according to plan.
@@CoachCastTV Amen to that!..in the mean time keep on Rockin! ✌️😁
It was called Black Dog because they didn’t know to call it so they named after the black dog that was hanging around the studio.
😆 🤣
Coach... I believe we have a winning ticket here to have your beautiful wife come over to the Blues side.
Live 1973 Madison Square Garden song Since I've Been Loving You. I know your list of songs just keeps growing longer and longer, but you will not regret it. As a matter of fact, that whole concert is worth looking into. They were at their peek. Pure gold... Enjoy.
Peek...!? I mean peak of course. You guys are my favorite. You make us feel like family. Thanks for keeping it real. Godspeed..
We truly appreciate this suggestion and will see if we can work that in since Coach is on a mission to get Mrs. Coach to enjoy the blues.
If you're looking for another Led Zeppelin song with prominent harmonica, check out Bring It On Home.
Loved the reaction, I remember when this first came out in 1971, I was 11 yrs. old, a cousin bought the single. I really thought I was something dancing around to it.
the band are playing different parts of this in different time signatures, it takes SERIOUS skill to even attempt that without it all falling apart
"Stairway" is not my favorite Zeppelin song as well BUT . . . I don't hate it. I don't hate ANY Zeppelin songs. Or any other group's songs, for that matter.
As the story goes, while recording this album at Headly Grange, Robert had this song written but no title.
There was an old "black dog" roaming around the property and the rest is history.
LOL...that is fantastic! It's such an iconic song.
A bout of depression is sometimes referred to as a black dog.
@@robertdorsett9167 in this case it was just a black dog.
@@vernhoke7730 I know. I've read the wiki too.
I recommend...
1. THE LEMON SONG.
2. HEARTBREAKER/LIVING LOVING MAID (both songs have to be played together).
3. BRING IT ON HOME.
4. SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU...
Thank you! You guys are great.
Thank you so much!
That'll make your day.
Hey guys, it’s Ed, thanks so much for doing my super pick!… This is one of those Zep songs that goes a bit past love with plenty of sexual overtones lol… The full story of the title is that they were recording at Headley Grange, an old mansion in England and a black dog would wander over and boogie as Robert put it with his girlfriend. The dog was a bit old and after getting it on with the lady dog, Robert would sometimes have to carry the dog back Lol! That’s straight from one of the live concerts, and Robert telling the story… It’s a song about love! And doggies like to do it too 😊
LOL! This is a fantastic story! The song is iconic. Coach recognized it the second it started, but didn't know the name. Pretty sure it must have been on the radio a lot back in the day. This was a winner! We appreciate you directing us to this one!
Hey Coach, Try Grand Funk Railroad "Inside Looking Out" live version. Great harmonica and all around outstanding live performance. Also you mentioned in another reaction that you don't like country. I suggest you listen to "Hot Dog" by Led Zeppelin from the In Through the Out Door album. Maybe you'll change your mind for this one like Mrs. Coach changed her mind about some of their blues tunes
Cool, thanks!
Stairway to Heaven is the greatest rock song of all time . Just my opinion.
Respect that opinion. Thanks for watching.
Black dog is something that truck drivers experience when they're really tired
Interesting. Hadn't heard that. This song is fantastic!
If you listen to Patrick Swayze and Roadhouse he mentions black dog
The next song off this album is “upbeat “ too, Rock n Roll.
Coach knows that one very well and it's a very good one.
I think you guys would LOVE ' Hot Dog ' by them !
Coach does like hot dogs. LOL
Check it out without the wife ;^)@@CoachCastTV
first
I totally agree. It's a really fun song, one Coach may not know. Get ready to hoop n holler to that one :)
A throw away. Filler. JMO, YMMV though.
It is very common to not know the name of Led Zeppelin songs cause they usually only say the title once if at all.
Good to know!
👍Old school goodness! 🖖❤
Agreed! Very iconic sound.
I have heard this many times, as Mr. Coach. I am with Mrs. Coach as to name of song. Like you said it is a feel good song and decided to listen after Coach speech on Queen video about listening to new music.
LOL, we're happy you showed up on this one. It's a good one, for sure! Hope you have a great weekend!
The bluesy songs are their best ones
Excellent choice. This was a song the artists said was difficult to play.
Well, they killed it, which is a testament to their skill. Thanks for watching!
It really is for the time signature!
Expect no mercy and no Grace
LOL!
It's called black dog because there was a stray black Labrador that hung around the recording studio when they recorded this song
Awesome reaction to an awesome song!
Will you react to SLAUGHTER TO PREVAIL - VIKING????
Thanks very much! We certainly can add that to the ever-growing list. We only wish we had time to do all we would like to do.
@CoachCastTV I'm sure for a fellow maggot you can bump it up the list 😅
Speaking of that...we have had a couple Slipknot blocked and are on Patreon. We filmed another today for them, so hopefully we can get one on UA-cam.
there is maybe 3 songs from led that i dont like, someone else likes them but not me, all of rest are super! great reaction!
Thanks!
English rock band Led Zeppelin's song "Black Dog" is loosely inspired by the trope of the black dog, incidentally, as well as a reference to a nameless black Labrador Retriever that wandered around the Headley Grange studios during recording.
Did Winston Churchill suffer from depression?
Winston Churchill did not suffer from depression and his reference to the “black dog” has been misinterpreted for decades, according to a historian of the wartime leader. Andrew Roberts said the phrase “ black dog ” had a different meaning at the beginning of the 20th century and did not refer to mental health.
Great video! I know the song, but have never listened to it all the way through. That was really cool! 😊
Just an actual dog that happened to be around when they recorded the tune.
I don't remember much about the 1970s, Led Zeppelin was a little before my time but I do remember hearing this song on the radio many times. It always makes me think of an old movie from the 70s titled "Over the Edge". Does anyone remember that?
Neither of us recall that movie. For some reason, though, we seem to feel a strong nostalgia for the '60s and '70s TV shows, in particular.
Another enjoyable video. Thank you Coach and Mrs. Coach! I have a suggestion for you. Do with it what you will. I think you might enjoy the K-Pop group Itzy. They have several hits and their first one was Wannabe. I still really enjoy that song. Watch the official video for some great visuals or the dance practice for some great choreo. Thanks again guys! Love your content. Enhancifying!
LOL, thanks! Believe it or not, we have an ITZY scheduled to post Monday. Spoiler: We definitely liked them.
since i've been lovin you.
We did that one and UA-cam blocked it. It's on our Patreon.
I liked that. Kind of 'light' metal rock - and I say that because I was able to hear the lyrics clearly over the instruments. Rather suggestive lyrics.😉 I definitely picked out the electric guitar, which was rather special.
A black dog was hanging out at the studio so they named the song after it.
On this note… The song doesn’t really have lyrics that have a stand out name. Other than maybe Big Legged Woman. The guys couldn’t nail one down and I guess that stray black dog walked by lol
Hi Guys from Phoenix, Arizona Just started following you, Get into it guys!
Glad to have you!
@@CoachCastTV You're welcome!
It's called Black Dog because when they recorded it a black dog was outside the recording venue.
That's great, LOL!
I understand. I never ever want to hear hotel California again. So tired of it
LOL, that's another one that was played to death back in the day.

All female Japanese groups. Each one better. Yes, I said better than anything I heard in English from America.
That's when I realized rock and roll didn't die in America. It got itself a travel visa and moved to Japan.
Judas Priest. My #1. Now and forever.
Black Sabbath is still in my top 5. And Zeppelin & Linda Ronstadt are in my top ten.
These are total work/catalog bands n performers.
There are a lot of groups over my 69 years that have made some great music, but for many it's only one or two songs out of 50 or 60 or however many that I really enjoy. Lets not forget to mention a few one hit wonders too.
Iron Butterfly: in-a-gada-de-vida.(spelling).
Chambers Brothers: Time Has Come Today.
Long versions of both songs.
Beatles n Rolling Stones. Early work is glorious. Later years trash. IMHO.
@@charleslatora5750 I think in the rock genre in particular it has severely gone downhill starting in the '90s for my tastes, anyway. We just found BabyMetal on this channel and so we are looking forward to exploring more of them and also of The Warning.
123 Rd like 👍
you want more difference ? try Battle of Evermore
Alot of 60s & 70s music have very deep inspirational lyrics but then alot of times lyrics don't mean anything or were never suppose too. Record Producers preferred music with lyrics and then again each song needed a name to put on the Label. Point of intrest this album does not have an offical name and is referred to as Vol 4. or Old Man, Misty Mountain Black Dog, Four Sticks, Stairway To Heaven 😅 What do you call it?
Do "The Rain Song" (studio version) - then you'll know you've heard it all. It’s drenched in mellotron and is stunningly beautiful.
well I’ve learned something from the comments …. often wondered what this song had to do with depression! 😂
The comments section on all our videos are the place to be. Lots of knowledge being shared there. LOL
To clarify for me, you don't like the song "Stairway to Heaven", or don't want to hear it again because it was so over-played that you got sick of it? There's a difference. Being over-played doesn't change the fact that it is an incredibly well-written piece of music.
On the flip side, I don't care for "Black Dog" as much, although it's still a great song and I do enjoy Page's solo quite a bit. To each their own, eh? ;)
To be honest, the song was never one I liked. But after the over-playing, it really grated on me, and now I just cannot listen to it. I'm not denying it's well-written and I know many people love it. But it doesn't appeal to me. Agreed, it's interesting how music appeals to different people in different ways.
Correct.Its not the song's fault!
@@CoachCastTV Interesting. I know people who got sick of hearing it, and others who say that while it's good, it doesn't deserve the accolades that it gets, but I think this is the first time I've heard anyone say that they actually just don't like it. Certainly, no judgment, just a first for me. ;)
Not trying to change your mind but have you ever seen LZ perform it live? I watched a reactor who thought the song was "just OK" when he heard the studio version, then when he watched a live performance of it ('73 MSG concert) about six months later, decided that it was pretty fabulous. 🤷♀
Edit: Has Ms. Coach ever heard it? If so, curious to know what she thinks about it.
@@jmar7631 Yes, she has heard it and she's pretty neutral on it. We haven't seen it live that we recall. Not sure we've seen any Led Zeppelin live except the one reaction we did.
I like Stairway but I am sort of with you. I can easily pick 10 to 15 Zeppelin songs I like better. Kashmir, probably their second most popular song, to me, is a much better song by far.
Yeah, Zepp has lots of up beat songs. But from what I ve seen you reacting to mostly so far, you have been recommended their more bluesy earlier stuff. I am also not a huge fan of their really Blusey stuff. When the Levee Breaks, You Shook me, Babe I'm gonna leave you, all of them I could skip right past. The only super blusey one I like is Since I've Been Loving You. And that's a different style of blues than the other songs. I do like their blues/ Rock songs a lot like Dazed and Confused though.
It's interesting how different songs hit people differently.
@@CoachCastTV So true. We seem to be of similar tastes though.
This song was ,is,challenging due to the timing moves in and out of synchronisation,9/8 and 4/4.whatever,this one don't get covered.listen to the drums!
Aren't they fabulous?
This was fantastic, and we've enjoyed the band on the ones we've reacted to so far.
The woman isn't even moving her head!!????
Interesting that people would enjoy and take in music in different ways. Who knew?
This may sound crass but John Farnham covers this song and it is better by far
Please react time after time Boa,Wendy Ningning
The GOATS OF GOATS…PERIOD! I you don’t like Zep, you have no soul! She doesn’t like the blues? I feel sorry for her, and her kind! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Dose she understand the musicianship they produce? It was named after the black dog, hanging around the house, they were recording in…hence the name!
Music impacts different people differently. There are millions of people who don't like the blues, or other genres. Probably things you don't like others feel that way about your preferences. LOL
Black dog means depression. English….
Sorry, but that was no catchy "little" beat!🤣 That beat is a headknocker!!
🤣
Damn straight! Pure power!!
“Black Dog,” was named after a Labrador dog that wandered around the studio while Led Zeppelin was recording,
I am not a big fan of Led Zepplin. The group is very talented and Robert Plant has a magnificent voice. Still, he is not Freddie Mercury.
Led Zepplin's music does not inspire me, which is odd since I am such a Queen fan and Queen was really envious of Led Zepplin and inspired by them in Queen's early years. Queen's song "Innuendo" (which was the opening track and lead single of Queen’s final album before Freddie’s death) was supposedly partially inspired by Led Zeppelin’s song "Kashmir "as well as Freddie’s illness.
"Innuendo" is a magnificent song that deals with mankind’s inability to live with each other and the constant search for meaning. Whereas, "Kashmir" was inspired by driving through an area of Morrocco where the road just goes on and on and is surrounded on both sides by sand ridges. So I don't get the connection.
"Kashmir" is one of the few LZ songs that I sort of enjoy., especially the riff. "Black Dog" is another of LZ's songs I sort of enjoy.
Kashmir has been mentioned a few times lately so we probably should do that one at some point. Perhaps Coach has heard it but didn't know the name. Everyone has music that appeals to them and music that doesn't. Nothing wrong with that. Thanks for watching!
ha ha we sort of care
Just sayin……Rock is better watched in LIVE performances ….
Agreed!
@@CoachCastTV I agree for the most part, but sometimes I think studio is better just because what they did in the studio sometimes couldn't be replicated as well live. The Rain Song is an example. I much prefer the studio version over live. There are a few others but The Song Remains the Same is just the opposite for me. I much prefer to hear it live.
@@jmar7631 Yeah, we realize some studio cannot be duplicated exactly and one reason we do the lyric videos is to get familiar with the song and not be distracted by the overall performance (normally lyrics on live are a bit harder to figure out with a lot of bands). However, once we know a song, live always wins out due to the energy shared between the bands and their fans.
