    Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite band. They encompass the blues . Robert Plant and John Bonham were like 19yrs old when they recorded this. Let that sink in. And that guitar part in the middle with the weird sound is Jimmy Page using a violin bow on his guitar.

    Zeps remasters were done by Jimmy Page. They hardly needed much remastering because they came out so good. Just as fresh today as in 69.

    • @mr.knowitall6440
      @mr.knowitall6440 Місяць тому +1

      Yeah, I think Jimmy just remastered them for CD, so that it would sound like the original vinyl, since it seemed to lose something in that transfer to digital. 😎
      Many remasters put in WAY too much bass for some reason. 🤨

    • @stevedahlberg8680
      @stevedahlberg8680 Місяць тому

      This is such an important point, because yes there have been examples of remasters which butcher things, but by and large, especially with recent remasters? They really don't change a whole lot, but I think especially people that are younger that are reacting to it, they just read too much into that and they think that it might be significantly changed, I mean like even pieces of the song rearranged around or something.

    • @bishlap
      @bishlap 23 дні тому

      Jimmy has stated that only albums are worth remastering bc they have the best sound quality, and I agree. A good vinyl and good turntable and speakers/BEST. CD's are clean but sterile -like sitting in an empty box of sound.

    What a masterpiece. The beginning shows how dazed and confused is how about the woman that he's talking about.. turn the music in the middle, are his tears and heartache. Then his anger and violence is coupled with the sloppy guitar work and the massive banging on the drums. Danny goes back to dazed and confused with a confirmation of his understanding of who he's dealing with and then the very end that repeats itself like we're going back in a circle again. It is so hard to articulate feeling of such magnitude with music these days.

    I really love the observation that Robert Plant was more like a fourth instrument in the band rather than the central focus. Yeah Jimmy is bowing his guitar through a fair amount of delay and reverb but he's just so artful at all of that. And Bonham and JPJ were just fucking killing it on the rhythm section. And Plant is just beyond belief.

    Jimmy Page started 'working' on this song when he was in the Yardbirds begore he formed Led Zeppelin. There are a few videos around of him performing this back in 1967. He used a cello bow back then. It is interesting to see how this song 'evolved' over time.

    I don't like remastered bc a lot of times you hear things that weren't in the original recording. And it's not things that were there and we just couldn't hear them before. It's just a money grab, imo.
    Yes, Mugs you nailed it. Robert's voice is another instrument in the band. You hear him a lot doing a call and response with Jimmy on guitar. Have you seen them live yet? Oh boy, you're in for a treat when you do. Biden's got my money acting kinda funny right now or I would buy you a coffee. But you asked for suggestions so here's another one to throw on the list. It's one of my FAV live performances by these masters and the song is called, How Many More Times, from 1970 at the Royal Albert Hall. I don't think any of their live performances duplicate the album but I know this DEF does not. This is a 20-minute jam session of them skipping around diff genres seamlessly, all sandwiched in the middle of the album version of the song. Don't know if you can do it bc it's so long, but you won't regret watching it. Here's the link, my friend. Peace out.

      @@MugnifyRTSthese 4 genuses love the blues & have since young teens, many of their songs are Blues Rock, especially the first 2 albums. They knew & loved James Brown, Page knew him better, a tribute song to James Brown is called The Grunge. Any songs live from Madison Square Gardens (1973) are magnificent, their movie The Song Remains The Same was filmed at those 3 concerts. My favorite live from there is Since I’ve Been Loving You, blues done with soulful passion. My second favorite live is at Earls Court, the MAY 25,1975 version of In My Time Of Dying, another blues song. They will blow your mind with that one too, Page on guitar is so amazing. Another slow blues studio version is Tea For One, just close your eyes & feel the passion. That song is written by Plant, missing his wife & kids, having to be away from them. I recommend you check out Since I've been loving you - both studio and live (MSG 1973) versions are incredible, though quite different.

    They were magnificent! Jimmy Page remastered the albums to get rid of any scratchy old recording sounds

    I believe the guitarist, Jimmy Page, worked on the remaster himself. It wasn't just a bunch of random sound engineers.

    His (Robert) voice is like an instrument…… yes, that was Jimmy Page’s intention when he formed the band

    A bow combined with Wah pedal to get those sounds.

    To me the instrumental section is what pure rock and roll is about. Otherwise, there is a special mix of blues parts and unknown parts that bookend the rock part that I find pretty unique. It's impossible to anticipate all the tempo changes.

    Jimmy Page did the remaster doesn't mean that the song has changed just means the sound quality is better and at around the 3 minute mark of this song Zeppelin gave birth to metal! Jimmy Page the original shredder!

    Plant idolized the black mans blues. That's what he wanted to portray through every song. There will never be another Zeppelin.
