- the hermit crab’s shell is an essential part of its life. the shell protects and grants shelter to the hermit crab, for it is both its home and its shield. without that shell, the hermit crab would simply die. you forget that a hermit crab must also be strong enough the carry that shell on its own, with no help from others. it is a indeed a hefty burden, but one that the hermit crab bears without complaint.

- not everything can be so simply boiled down as “stop doing this.” things take time for change to be enacted, but the human mind is often as rigid as it is free-thinking

- merely because you believe something to be not serious, it does not mean everyone shares an identical mindset to yours.

- i prefer to speak when my words will be of value. my opinions are my own, but just because i have opinions does not mean I am required to voice them.
These I have found to be answers that make people think. And if they don’t think about those answers, and instead return immediately with a response that only reinforces their original question, it’s likely they won’t see things from your viewpoint.

I hate how modern society is so obviously designed by and for extroverts
I couldn't agree more. I'm an introvert who is going to high school (in my last year) and all my grades are being dragged down because I don't raise my hand when teachers ask questions. It isn't my fault that most of the other students are extroverts who like talking to teachers about stuff nor is it my fault that I need time to think about what I'm saying because I'm afraid of/anxious about being judged. Some teachers tell me that nobody will judge me but I know that they are wrong because I've always been an outcast and I've been judged by so many of my classmates before. It just hurts to know that the world won't change to something better any time soon.

True. When there are family gatherings they always want to go out to eat and when I ask them to bring me an order of fries to go...that is considered rude. So I stopped meeting up with them altogether.

When someone asks me to hang out, I have this weird mixture of feelings. I'm really happy that they are interested in me and want to spend time with me, but I also feel like I just wanna stay home. Like, I really like this person and I wanna be friends with them, but I am too lazy to make the effort to actually make them like me. Like, it's too troublesome. Then I end up agreeing but acting totally unlike me that it feels freaky and I feel like a weird person and I just feel like going home and forgetting all about the whole thing 😅 So in the end, it just feels like social interaction is just tiring.

it could be an option next time to propose a stay at home "party" :p just doing lazy stuff with extrovert people is good for bolth : you can be confortable at home with not to much stimulus around and youre friend has there social interaction to reloud. i's not becoulse someone's an introvert you cant have fun with friends or keep up youre social group ;)

People always criticize me for not being jolly and talkative. I've been always told to change my personality 'coz it's a sign of immaturity, but they didn't even try to know me. It's really funny how people see extroverts as more charming and successful people, while introverts are immature and only liabilities. Lol. This stereotype really needs to be stopped.
I had told one person to 'get fucked' when he told me the exact same thing about changing my personality, all because I wasn't comfy attending a party of his that had over 250 people going (I couldn't either, I had work all throughout that weekend).

I like being alone, but after having nobody around me for almost 2 Months, I just feel sad, empty and extremly lonely.
The_Wolf Cerberus if you enjoy role playing games, then maybe try DnD. Just join a game that meets/goes on call every week or every other, and let yourself cut loose for a few hours. I know DnD is a stereotypical sort of thing for introverts, but it’s really helped me personally with that sensation of loneliness.
Most of the people I’ve met throughout my time playing DnD are also introverts, and have that exact same problem with loneliness and boredom despite liking the tranquility that being alone brings. Even introverts need social interaction, as it’s what all humans need. It’s also nice to just be someone else for a change. I frequently play female characters despite being a biological male because it’s simply fun. My voice acting needs a lot of work though lol

I didn´t know what was wrong with me, i didn´t have lots of friends. I was always first person who was leaving party and was feeling so anxious about going out at night thoroug the whole day. I loved to watch movies like Forrest Gump, E.T., Jurassic Park and Harry Potter 1st. I didn´t know why i am walking in my own little flat so silently - afraid to be heard from anyone. I didn´t know why i felt so afraid to being exposed to work - stress - environment including many people. Didn´t know why i am so afraid whenever my phone rings or whenever i have to perform.
The only think i knew was that i felt much more calmer and happier once i closed the doors of my flat behind the day and turned my self into books and studying hobbies. I never found a long - time partner because i always felt verry fearfull to go dating and being judged.
I always felt good around animals. I never could understund peoples conversations right. I saw the world from different perspective. I becomed verry good in art.
I becomed verry depressed because of my life. I always felt like i can´t "fit in". I was trying but ended up reading little prince book again. So i had to start to take medications.
But now, finally in my 27 years i realised, that i am not ill, instead, i was just all that time Introvert.
And so here i am, watching to the truth. Understunding, accepting. The worst thing introvert can do, is to force him self into extroversion and pretending he is something he is not. It´s simply like fish pretending to be a lion - it doesn´t make any sense.

Happier being home alone, uncomfortable at parties, don't want to be noticed, lonely... thinking that something's wrong with you. Sad to read that you took meds but happy to know that you discovered yourself at a young age! I wish all introverts realize that there's nothing wrong with them (us).

Till recently (not more than a week ago)
the only thought in my head was that i'm psychologically ill or something.
All this pressure from society to be more active and talkative just made me feel that everything about me is wrong and cuz of that pushing my self to be more outgoing and faking the act of liking people with a little bit of salt and pepper of laughter and freaky behavior.
But now i'm discovering my introverted nature and trying to respect that in me.
I'm trying to heal from all past bad thoughts and judgment that others or even me made about my self.

You forgot about how Society Outcast's Introverts. I feel outcasted every day when I go to school. I work best by myself than with other people, I sit by myself at lunch, I only talk when I'm in need of help from the teacher. I don't have any friends really. One kid asked me for my PSN (PlayStation Network) and I did.
I TRIED to be friends with him but he called me a weirdo by things I said to him.

The single worst thing about school and uni is presentations though! Like, in what way does my public speaking determine my intelligence, knowledge, aptitude for the subject?? For my minor, I'll have to do an Oral Conversation course which consists of giving spontaneous speeches, doing different kinds of presentations, and at the end the term, leading a 90-minute class - creatively and sans script! Like, wtf?

I'm an introvert and I love the sun, I can't live without bathing in the sun whenever I can. I also like the night because it's peace and quite. I also enjoy socializing from time to time with smart people. So all this about introverts is just bullshit.

I have found out, that instead of a social introvert as I first thought, I’m an Anxious Introvert. I often replay events that happened awhile ago, or recently, that have gone wrong, often making them worse than it actually happened.

This actually explains a lot about me. I’m all the types of introverts mixed into one, and books and reading are my best friends. I overthink everything about myself at night, and quite often wonder whether I’m a mirror of someone else. The one thing that I always know for certain is that I love to read and write. I also have a great imagination. I would rather spend a day in a room alone staring into space with no one to judge me or watch me than spend my day watching UA-cam videos. The silence allows me to concentrate and imagine all sorts of thing. I sometimes also laugh out loud or giggle for no visual reason, but inside I’ve created this scenario or scene which is quite funny. I used auto also fall asleep to the rain, but my cousins and sister could hardly sleep to it. This video explained why, so thanks!

The rain one is so true though, especially as an introvert living in the desert, I am quite the pluviophile. When it rains, I record videos of it raining, of the sounds that the rain makes when it passes through bushes, and the pitter-patters of walking around the wet concrete. In fact, I have an app on my phone called “Calm”, and I use the rain on leaves setting to help me fall asleep. So yes, as an introvert, I can confirm that we love rain.

That's so beautiful. I also have love for the rain provided that I'm staying at home and not going to work. I also like the weird scent of wet dirt during the first rain after a long time. I find these things soothing and really calming.

I’m a mix of social, thinking, anxious, and restrained introverts. Is that bad? But I love all of your videos because I feel like no one understands me at home, or in school, but these videos make me feel excepted. :)

everything you said about rain is 100% accurate! everyone always says that rain makes them sad. i _never_ understood that. to me it was always the opposite.
in elementary school whenever it was a rainy day we would all get to play inside with boardgames or whatever toys the classroom had. of course i loved playing outside but we did that every day so it was a treat to be able to do nothing but be inside with less expectations of what to do. teachers always went easier on us too when it was raining. the sound is also very soothing and i like the way everything smells during and afterwards
Most of the facts are relevant to me, as I started to realised that I am an introvert through this video. I also thought of one small detail which applies to nearly all introverts in this world (including me), that we all used to be extroverts. However, some kind of huge emotional shock changed us. For me, it was the fear of making the same mistake again, which would affect one's lifetime (as long as I thought, since I'm pretty anxious in things like human relationships). From that time on, I barely talked to anybody, my thinking to everything would turn deep (which changed my brain to a logical mindset), and my values would decrease to nothing (this means that things I used to consider value would become non-valued, and I wouldn't even have a value now) except reproduction which is natural, and in this present time, I'm starting to recover from the shock, and so I am feeling comfortable with the group of 5 that would try to communicate with me, (which I appreciate a lot). However, I seem to never fully recover from that shock, since nothing would make me feel the extrovert way, none for a millisecond, so I will probably stay in this state forever, which I am fine with.

The "dreading small talk" part is so true for me, and until I watched your "12 Things Introverts are Best at Doing" video, or even this one, I didn't know why. I agree. It creates a barrier between the small-talker and the one being small-talked at (yes, at). It bothers me when people strike up a conversation this way. Why should I care about the weather? You're telling me nothing about _you_ and what you think like. I like conversations I can _think_ about, long after it's over.

Same here I suck at and dislike small talk, I can’t think of something “small” to ask you constantly. I feel like with small talk I have to constantly talk about something or stay quiet like I’ll bring up really random facts because I don’t like starting a conversation with someone then start being silent, it freaks me out. So when I get a conversation that talks about how society works or mine and others religions or how people see one another or understand one another, it makes my really happy to be sharing my thoughts and opinions. I think I’d call my self a thinking introvert or possibly an ambivert because i will dwell of fantastical ideas or possibilities that pop into my head, like a video game where everything is breakable/destroys me but it’s essentially a board game rpg but there’s no board or dice or anything, just you deciding what to do, imagine dark souls kind of perspective with villages you can inhabit, build or destroy and there’s many different kinds of characters from fairies, werewolves, demons, followers of Death, angels, fallen angels, etc. I imagine having powers in real life and how that would work. But I’m not afraid to break the social static if I feel very strongly about it like if no one is dancing at a party I’d probably try together people to go dance.
So I’d consider myself an ambivert or thinking extrovert, because I relate to a lot of these things except the different types of introverts, I only related to 1 of them

I am an introvert. I have been watching this channel for a while and thank you for making several videos about us introverts. So far everything in this video is true at least for me it is. Now people can finally learn to try to understand us. I don’t have many friends. My friends are extroverts. And that’s actually good cause we balance each other out. And those few friends that I have understand me, and in hard times they stand beside me. Thank you for making these videos I really appreciate it.

Also, something else. This year, my school is doing hybrid learning. They split us up into two groups, group A goes to school while group B learns from home and vice versa the next day. The thing is, I have 4 friends in the entire school, 1 of which doesn't go here anymore, 2 who arent in my group, and the only one who I'll be able to see wants to hang out with her other friend. I don't want to be alone but at the same time I just want to go and read a book by myself. I know that if I want to make a friend, I'll have to be more social but its so hard for me and on top of that, I don't even know _how_ to make a friend. I know this sounds stupid but I've just been bawling my eyes out and almost threw up thinking about this. I don't know what to do.
These videos are to me like a best friend, I've no one I can connect and converse with without overthinking about boring them. And watching these videos and writing how I feel on a note pad is better than trying to talk with people who don't care.
I am still at school and its annoying when people ask me to come do something at weekend and when I say I dont want to they dont understand and they keep trying to get me to come, this is because I have used my social juices over the time at school and want to be somewhat alone at weekends to load myself up again, havent got them to understand it yet but oh well what do I know :D
haha i had friends growing up that would call me to come out and if i bothered answer the phone id say no then they would show up and knock at the door i used to open the door see them say in a very flat voice i said no and shut the door then ignore them till they went away on the few times they got me to come out i had been comfortable and really didn't want to leave id bring a book ....lol they hated it id try to play along with them a little but the call was to strong i had not finished that chapter and it was getting good all you want to talk about is the weather all i hear is bla bla bla pointless talk to me when it matters love you buddy ... i was a bit of a dick but i felt like no one gave a dam

Same but heeeeyyyyyyy. I got lucky the last few weeks. On a new school where only some people know me. And got into a nice group of friends where I willingly would go to a party with. But the party is at someones house with only max 15 people. And the only thing we do is chill...... Weed is nice uk? It feels like a 2nd home.
I'm a mix of all four with the added complication of social anxiety. I'm expected to be social and be around people all the time which only ends up in my having a severe anxiety attack, of course my health and it's decline is ignored because no one listens nor cares so while I have to suffer in order to make others happy, sick of it.
Fed up of being forced to put my own well being to the side because of control freaks and unrealistic expectations.

The last few were very relatable for me in particular. I find myself very creative in my alone time and get my best ideas from dreams, and create stories from them. I also get super drained when I try to be extroverted and communicate with small talk because i despise it.

Yeah number 9 is my biggest problem. Before the school year ended, I moved to a new school in a different state, a majority of the people at my new school were extroverts who didn't have many introverted friends So they pretty much just ignored any introverted people including me. After sitting by myself for a few months I got sick of not having any friends so I slowly started pretending to be extroverted. At firsr, it wasn't so bad all I had to do was plaster a fake smile on my face and interact with people more, but as time went on, it got harder and harder to even fake a small smile. I started losing sleep so depended on coffee Monsters as my main source of energy, I had a lack of an appite and the few times I did eat I ate fatting foods in large amounts in short periods time. Still now, even though school is out, I keep bouncing back into that habit even around my family members .

Omg! Waking up to a rainy day (on weekends) really makes me feel calm and relaxed because i dont have to make plans for the day and can just stay at home. But making long walks on sunny summer days feels inspiring and energizing 😌
I'm a social and thinking introvert leaning towards being an ambivert. I can relate to all of these :D the fact about rain and needing a lot of alone time is especially true for me. I noticed, that I'm not anxious towards new people, but am rather shy towards them and I HATE large groups of people. Also, I always feel bad when I hang out with my friends, but after some hours, I just feel like I get tired of them (especially when it's all of them) (I have my soul sis, two close friends and six other hang out friends, so yeah...). So although I'm not an extreme introvert and have nothing against speaking up in a group of people or in class for example, or start a conversation first, I get burned out too easily in the company of people.

Introverts seem cool peeps. Great video as always. Also, can you guys do a video on signs and symptoms of ADHD? I feel like I have it, I listen to music when I do my homework, I can't help but fidget most of the time, and I sometimes find it difficult to pay attention in class. I find it hard to sit still. I also have trouble falling asleep. I would really appreciate it.
Be aware that those can also be signs of other disorders. If you really want to know whether you have ADHD or not you should talk to a professional. There are also a lot more symptoms to ADHD aside from restlessness. You might want to check out something like how to ADHD if you want to learn more about it.
I have ADHD and I don't fidget nor am I in any way restless. I'm also able to pay attention if I really want to. The symptoms you described can be a sign of ADHD, but they don't necessarily have to be. There's so much more to ADHD!

Throughout number 8 I couldnt stop smiling because now that I think about it, it totally makes sense. I just love the sound of rain. I can concentrate so well and calm down immediately. If I didnt have any distractions I would propably daydream til the rain stops again.

I thought the rain one was the most interesting because if it’s accuracy. I took the sixteen personalities test as well as my close family and most of us are introverts. about the thing with introverts loving it when it rains, does anyone else keep a fan on in their room at all times, including when they go to bed and are trying to sleep, from some nice background noise? even when i have 2 fans on full, one being a huge fan i have to keep at my door cause its so powerful, (i get hot easily when im trying to sleep dont question me) its not the type of noise where its loud enough to stop me from being able to sleep and its just nice, i cant try and sleep with no noise at all, it feels wrong

I notice this channel like to repeatedly replay the introvert spectrum, it gets more view- understandable. But it pampers to nearly everyone, while also kissing your ego. the video doesnt consider that the subcategories outlined in the videos are just groups of traits, and not 'types' of introverts. there arent any discernable subcategories of particular personality temperments, unless you distinguish paticular character traits of prticular people that individuates them from thier archetypal categories. states such as introversion and extroversion are individual states.
