    It were a good night that one Sarah though bitterly cold in the morning in that wind but what a sunrise eh..grand belt of venus you had there i really like to see those sky's I'll let you in on how that blue & pink light is formed some time..
    Seems we were both feeling all sentimental I ended up going into how I first went up kinder in my school days & how I ended up feeling like I'm returning home when I've not camped up there for a while..
    That day with Sarah we had up kinder was a great day wasn't it how we just extended the walk off the cuff & headed down in the dark..all in good fun eh 😆
    tfs & take care..Andy.

      Hey Andy, I may have mentioned you a few times in my videos along with Paul and Patrick! 😊 you certainly helped me get ready for my first escape to the peat and heather landscapes of the Peaks in my tent. Meeting you (and Sarah) was the cherry on top. 🙏🏻 a good all round genuine family man! I think it’s become really important as I’ve delved into the UA-cam abyss to understand that there are real humans behind the videos that we make. I think we share the same passions. For our homes, family and that of the peaks. Feels like home, as glorious as the Lakes and Scotland are there’s a vibe about the peaks that is potent beyond my human understanding. I’ll look forward to your musings about this sentiment in your video (if you filmed it) thanks for sharing that and I’ll see ya on the next one wether that be in person or int’ tube! Need to reschedule a Sarah Walk and my quest for Aztec rock 😉ATB, Sarah

      Thank you for teaching and listening to my musings, it was so silent there I felt like whispering ☺️ by 2am it was far from it and I was soon reminded that I was in the direct path of the gusting ice wind that was knocking the tent about to lull me back to sleep! Ha ha! ATB, Sarah

    A lovely relaxing camp Sarah, and yes it is your time out there, and so its your time to talk as much as you like, and keep us entertained. Its looking like people will be queing up to camp at Pat's place, don't know what i would do if I planned a camp up there and found someone already there ! Anyway until the next one, we may see you back on kinder......thanks Pat

      @SoloSarahBX  11 місяців тому

      Hi Pat, thanks for stopping by 😊I have since found some more suitable spots close by but believe if you wish…that spot calls me in at the right time when there’s nobody there, I just get a feeling on the day with where to go unless it is up on Kinder, which does require a little more travel and planning on my part. Not to mention a more strenuous hike up there with my home on my back. If you are anything like me you’ll quietly scarper and seek out another spot with similar views (I don’t think it’s likely that it will get too busy, many folk just passing through with a flask and biscuit maybe, nice rest point for a walk around the area) hope you are well Pat, enjoying your life to the full as always, recently been watching the tree camps you did, don’t worry though, I don’t think I’m quite ready for that carry on just yet he he 😅

    Great video again lass. I hear them 12 hr unpaid shifts are brutal. My sister in law sita just qualified 2yr ago she said they should at least pay half the nurse rate. She had to take care worker shifts etc and study it was brutal for her as well with my nephews. Hey 👋🏻 yes I too worked support worker shifts as had to bring in some income on top of the very small bursary all the while getting g deeper into debt for a career I knew would never pay me enough to pay off the student debt before retirement. Crazy system we have her in England. It’s certainly a vocation. I have thoughts to leave the NHS and work for agency. I will have more flexibility with my life and more money in the bank whilst working to care for people using the NHS! Wages are so poor for the responsibilities I have as a senior midwife 👎🏻 I camp to soften the blow 😂

      You are very much the same as me then! As my fitness is building and I am getting into good shape I do wish to hike further for camps and set up after achieving a good hike. I will also be after a lighter shelter too! In the spring and summer. I do class my tent as a 5 star hotel as it protects me against the tough elements and without it I’d sure perish. Simple food always tastes like eating in a fine dining restaurant as it’s usually very well deserved too 😊ATB, happy camps to you, Sarah

    That's a gradely place you have there Sarah. The kind of place a person could rock up, build a cabin and just eat peat and heather for the rest of their days.
    The cumulative effect of your camps is evident in this one, you're so relaxed. I reckon a couple more and you'll be so relaxed your family will be carrying you around in a bucket.
    A large part of your YT success is undoubtedly due to your personal charm. Another contributing factor is your evident pleasure in replying to comments.No mere red heart or a cursory 'Cheers!' from you but a heartfelt and tailored response. When we buy into the SSB experience we get the full works.No half measures.
    Leonard Cohen sang, ' . . . getting lost in that hopeless little screen.' Well,that's me. Lost in this hopeless little screen. I am lost. So I'm ducking out of YT for a while.But I do so in the knowledge that there will be a whole load of SarahB films for me to binge watch in a few months time.
    Keep your head down in the grouse shooting season Sarah,we don't want to lose you.
    TTFN,Mike. Not that I'm saying you look like a grouse.

    • @SoloSarahBX
      @SoloSarahBX  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi Mike, in that case I shall respond to you first foremost ✨ thank you! You have picked out all of the main reasons that I love the combo of wild camping and UA-cam. Relaxation, connection and individuality. I feel utterly relaxed in this hobbie and when I upload a video I really do appreciate the feedback from ‘friends’ I enjoy responding and ensuring that the people who watch me understand that there’s a real female human being at the other end of their phone, keyboard. I have actually got more out of this than I’d imagined but like yourself I’m sure I will
      Enjoy a break from the little
      Screen in time. It is very time consuming to make vids and respond individually but into my more mature years I have become
      Expert in fitting a lot in to 24 hrs and understanding when rest is needed in a physical and mental sense. I hope that you enjoy your break and I have always appreciated your heartfelt notes, they have lifted me up when I have read negativity or have felt discomfort aimed in my direction from strangers that aim to bring me down, want to change me or want to give me advice that I don’t need 😂 yep plenty of that kind around, thank you and best wishes Mike, take Taa-raaa for now, Sarah

    Great to see you back up there 'Rattlecan' - there's a name that's stuck LOL. I'd better not ever let you n Jackie meet as the pair of you would never stop blathering on. Life's been getting in the way of me getting out on a camp lately. If I haven't been ill Jackie has been, and what with my band commitments, the best I have managed was a run up Kinder last weekend. At least the weather was good if a little bracing, and I got to see a part of the old girl that I hadn't seen before. I even found someone's pitch up at Seal Stones. Luckily I managed to get rid of the nasal clag that been plaguing me since Christmas so all is good. Got some footage to go through If I get chance this weekend. Shed roof repairs tomorrow, what a treat, NOT. Well done on the 30 days running, keep it up !!

      Thanks 🙏🏻 I need a better pan set up to cook more efficiently, currently my speedster stove isn’t ideal for much more than boiling water and heating up the stew. Not much cooking on my incoming video…a pitiful cuppa soup and some bread and snack, this lamb and veg stew was a real winner though. I look forward to bringing going more outside cooking to my videos when I have the right kit 😊

    Hi Sarah... Always hard to know where to start commenting. You get through so much in your videos. On one level, there's the beauty of the places you walk and camp in. On another, there's " Sarah's chats". The more of your content I watch, and listen to, the more I realise what all us solo wild campers have in common. Many of us get out to recharge, to fight the demons in our heads, the stress of life's worries, to be alone and let our tightly wound springs unwind and release.
    I had a beautiful camp Saturday night gone, and boy does it give the soul vitality again.
    Anyway enough of the jibber jabber from me.
    Thanks again so much Sarah for sharing, and I'm so glad to have found this channel.

    Hi Sarah,
    A funny thing to start with but thanks for mentioning the date, I often wonder when you have been filming 🎥. Getting your own back on Patrick, I hear. Wonder if this could turn into video ping-pong, I'll be watching his next trip to see what he says about you. What was that you had your stove on? I notice various people using different things to stop heat drain and grass scorching. Interesting that more and more people are adding to the comments book, guess there have been enough clues for people to work out where it is. Dinner looked Interesting, keep meaning to write an article about thermos cooking, food that cooks itself as you walk 🚶‍♀️. Aren't satcoms brilliant, the ability just to ping a word or two to hubby, that extra peace of mind. If you yawn any wider we'll be able to see the little light at the back ✨️ 🙂. First camp I did with my wife I remember looking around the tent and thinking we own all of this, we have all we need here ❤️ to survive. You mentioned meeting the lass who is writing the book, and you said what came across as the word Sarahndipity, if ever you want to launch a new channel, there you go.
    Cheers

      I haven't used my dslr a lot I've shot mainly on my gopro, but my last vid I used it much more it's a canon r6 and I used a 50mm 1.8 problems with it are bulk but with the 50mm it's not too bad.
      It's tricky filming especially in the dark I now just use manual focus so the lens isn't always searching I have to cover it in rain. Also manual exposure and iso.

      @SoloSarahBX  11 місяців тому +1

      Interesting. I remember when I got the tent I wanted to erect it correctly as not to put strain on the material or poles but I couldn’t find a definitive answer. It seemed easier with long poles first and red last. Sturdier with red first though? I suppose if poles are thicker the the red pole last would take more strain? Thanks for the feedback on what you do…BW, Sarah

    • @jamesdonoghue9358
      @jamesdonoghue9358 11 місяців тому +1

      @SoloSarahBX Hi. From what i gather it was red tab pole first until the black label Soulo came out.. Hilleberg then said to put the red tab pole on last. Must me because of the strain on the material on the black label Soulo like you mentioned. I have the red label Soulo and i am going to continue to put the red tab pole in first. I find the top hat sits down nicer when there is no cross pole pushing up on the Sewed seam of the top hat.. the pole keeps pushing the seam to one side and it always looks a bit off... Then again i am a perfectionist.... Or perhaps it was optional. Pole set up was optional until the black label Soulo came out

    Hi Sarah just 8min in but i remember back in the day some debate around which pole first on the soulo when they first came out. My experience with them over the last 10+ years is that for rigidity i always put the pole from the door frame to the centre first, like you did, i feel this holds up the tent better, esp if you ever start using 10mm poles. Is it just me, or is the video resolution alot lower than last time? Glad you've got back out, certainly some loverly crisp nights out at the moment, and some howlers too!
    Edit - Apologies if you already know this - one for the future if you ever find yourself getting cold, as in struggling to maintain core temp and getting bad or really really uncomfortable you can always if you have the decent heavy duty proper nalgene bottles can always boil the water, let it go just off the boil and carefully pour it back into the nalgene bottle and tighten lid firmly, wrap a base layer around it, and hey presto hot water bottle, then in the morning just reboil to make your monring brew! Glad you slept well, i always think the key to that is fueling your body properly pref slow release carbs before that to sustain through the night. A flapjack and hot chocolate works wonders, for the body and mind lol ! As for Patrick, he make's me laugh with his "shed" but some of the meal's he make's when camping, once remember him lugging a pizza oven, legend 🤣

      Hi Brian, when I’m hiking far I wear my waterproof jacket and not the down one as I’d get too hot and sweaty. I’ve noticed no wear on this purple down coat if mine however the waterproof is bobbling on the hips where there’s been movement mostly with my day rucksack. The Osprey backpack that I use for wild canoe has a handy silicone coating on the lumbar part of the waist strap and this stops it from moving about. One of many simple features of this backpack to aid comfort and compatibility with clothing I wear 👌🏻BW, Sarah

      Hi Edward, please no fires on moorland. Definitely forbidden. Definitely keep that for woodlands with your own wood or dead wood that has fallen and dried. Having said no fires I always use my alcohol stove with extreme caution. The things I do to minimise the risks of fire up there are to use a non-spill spirit burner with a thin chopping bored and heat mat protector on the ground. I pour my alcohol into the burner very carefully with a small spouted bottle for a precise aim. The speedster stove kit I use is very compact and efficient and even feels safe to use in the tent. I always make sure the tent is well ventilated when I’m using it in there due to fumes/carbon monoxide. I keep warm by wearing layers and down clothing, drinking and eating hot food and the heat from water bottles and hand warmers, gloves and mittens 😊 Leave no trace, always, ATB, Sarah
