My ex-wife was staying the night with her brother when she was like 12 13. Well his father-in-law was over that night and kept trying to talk her into changing into different outfits and stuff. So she finally told her brother what he was saying to her and dude took off running because he thought he was caught. Her brother ended up calling her oldest brother that lived in town at the opposite end of the road that they live on so they kind of had him trapped on the road. Well when the cops showed up and found them beating the hell out of the dude in the ditch cop said you boys go back home after he found out what happened and told him if anybody asked any questions dude fought when he was being arrested so it looked like the cop beat the piss out of him.
Thats what police on behalf of people justice is. Not beating one to death on a simple arrest. Thanks to the brothers and cops for making that 12 year old fill safe.

Hardy may have seen those "whiskey scars" on his mom. He may have been told "wait in the truck" in his past when he was too small to do anything about it. I know the feeling.
Thank you guys for your reaction. I'm a DV survivor per my ex husband. I went to police and lawyer and due to how law written, they couldn't help because I was married to abuser. Thankfully law for sexual abuse of a spouse has changed. I'm so thankful to Hardy and Lainey for this song. It sparks awareness and conversation.
As a DV survivor this song brings me to tears everytime. I almost didn't make it out alive. And I'm so thankful for my Uncle that came and rescued me and my kids. Beautiful song. I love HARDY and Lanie.
Being in eastern Kentucky, I have to remind myself what wait in the truck, whiskey scars and a 12 means. As a DV survivor that couldn't safely escape for several years, wish I had an angel.
This song hit me in the feels for personal reasons. But the one thing that always goes through my mind when I watch this video or a reaction it is, and I am paraphrasing slightly, "No greater love has a man that he would lay down his life for another." (In some interpretations of the bible it says 'for his friend(s).) That is essentially what he did, in my view. He put his life on hold for *X* number of years to free her from this nightmare. He didn't try to run. He didn't try to lie his way out of it. He just did the right thing. That takes a kind of courage that rocks my soul. Near the end he says it's been 60 months. That's 5 years, and she still comes to see him. That in itself says so much. LOVED THE REACTION, FELLAS!! ☮💖🙏🏼🤗 and *MERRY CHRISTMAS!! 🎄
I am absolutely in love with this song, video, and artists. Up on these here mountains, Sweet Tea & Southern Hospitality is still an inherited trait. I wouldn't want our country boys to change. Hardy may have taken a life, but if you look at it like this, he SAVED a better life.
I live in the mountain land of sweet tea too. Around here we say he needed killin' which isn't the same as murder. Killin' is what you do with a rabid animal and women and child abusers are rabid animals too.
I also live in the mountains. My daddy told me and I have passed this advice to my sons. The day you hit a woman is the day you stop being a man and sometimes a hog pin is better than 911. Hogs don’t leave nothing behind.
As a survivor of extreme abuse, I wish I would have had a Hardy back then. The only thing that saved my life was he got thrown in jail. That was 48 years ago and no man has ever touched me again. I am now married to a Christian who has changed my life completely. God is the center of our life. Great reaction.
The studio version doesn't come close to the live version they sang at the CMAs last week. It brought me to my knees and I sobbed. There is no question how strongly Lainey feels about domestic violence. There was no "acting' here. Just full on conviction for their beliefs about the wrongness of a man cowardly beating up a woman! They drove it home and stand resolute, no apologies and this performance, not even the choir was needed. Bravo Bravo and God Bless Lainey and Hardy!
Great reaction, this song gets me emotional every time I hear it. I had to run with my 3 babies to save our lives, we started over with only the clothes we were wearing, the cops were no help (I tried repeatedly and they looked at my bloody busted up face and told me if did as I was told he wouldn't hit me) and after years of getting away with it, he just got worse and worse. Every situation is different, but the constant is that no one has the right to abuse another person.
So glad you made it! I have a similar story but with 2 babies. I had a near death experience from the last beating and ended up with a concussion so the only way we made it out was by the grace of God.
@@candyshackelford9169 Praises that you and your babies got away! When children grow up in that environment it kinda trains them to think that environment is ok, I was so scared that my daughters would marry into abuse or that my boys would become abusers and that is what finally made me just run, to heck with everything else.
Exactly why REAL men have to step up all too often. The world shouldn't work that way - but it does. Which makes me madder than any individual case, when lawmakers, prosecutors, judges, cops ALL let it happen to all too many women.
as someone who dealt with an abuser, I agree. no did not do what he done, but did beat the crap out of him and waited outsdside for the cops. 4 days in county, and released no charges filed. guys on the inside had mad respect for me also.
I love the two of them as artists anyways, but this story line is unreal, in a good way. They both told the story so well. It resonates with so many people, and I love that she got his truck in the end. One of the best songs out there, thats for sure.
Speaking about Yellowstone, this is Lainey Wilson from the show this season. She’s a great songwriter as well. ♥️ Stay with Hardy, check out mockingbird and The Crow, Jack, A Rock, Here Lies Country Music, and for Lainey, Heart Like a Truck, Dreamcatcher, and Workin’ Overtime (the live ACM performance.)
Lainey Wilson plays one of the rodeo girls in the bunk house on Yellowstone. She plays Abby the blonde that was the girlfriend of the old guy and then went to Walker.
On behalf of those of us that have lived through a similar situation, THANK YOU ❤. Most of us wish there had been someone to help without having to come out and ask. It is a situation that most will never understand unless you have lived it. Today, I am a CCW holder and will never give that kind of power to anyone again! I hope that others in this situation currently find their courage/power and can get out sooner rather than later. thank you for all that you do, you are truly appreciated.
Good morning Cedric and Brian!! I'm a Ginger....I've been through the wringer. My parents abused me, my first husband beat me daily, it goes on. Decided one day to stop giving my power away. I'm now with a man that is my rock. He treats me like a queen. An equal. I've fought to get here. 53 years. But, my God, is it worth it. Merry Christmas guys!!
This song was released just over 1 month after my ex attempted to choke me after slamming me into the wall. Luckily, I had a "judge" of my own and a best friend who picked up on some vague text I'd sent and called 9-1-1 for me. But I can 100% say, I would do the same for any DV situation.
That would be awesome Alicia but I don’t think there are enough Kleenex, in a box, for us to be able to get through that one. Thank you for taking the time to watch our channel and make it a great day my friend. - C -
As a DV survivor who went back more then once we go back because of things like " no man will put up with your BS like I do " or if you leave me no man with have you " ( IE if I can't have you no man can ) the list goes on and on we are made to feel like we have no way out and when we do get out people look at us and make us feel like we are the problem that we should stay and " just work it out " one of my all time favorites" if you would have only did like he asked you to a wife is to be seen and not heard " ( yes I got told that a lot ) all situations are different but for me growing up in a religious family I had always been taught the divorce was not an option so I say again as a DV survivor this song hits home hard thank you for doing a reaction video to this song
Reminds me of something that happened in an online group I was part of. There was a young lady who lurked there for a long time and eventually told the group she was hiding from her ex. She was very cautious at first but as time passed she became comfortable and started showing herself (and she was smokin...absolutely gorgeous btw) and started speaking more openly about her life in various posts. Then one day she stopped posting. It became a topic of conversation that she had abruptly stopped commenting on anything. Rumors flew and many claimed she had been making it all up for attention. A few days later it came to light and another member posted links to news articles... Her ex had gotten into and used the group to locate her and he came for her. There was a handyman at her home that afternoon, fixing something for her when the ex broke into the house. The handy man apparently tried to protect her... The ex, as it turns out, was every bit the psycho that she had said he was... He killed the handyman then attacked her pretty viciously... Left her brutalized and overkill stabbed to death and I believe he took the child...I don't recall exactly for some reason... But he was caught pretty quickly because I want to say he left one of the bodies laying outside the home... the police were aware of the situation and she had protective orders and such in place, so they knew who they were looking for and thankfully found him quickly. It was bizarre. So many had accused her of lying about her situation and others encouraged her to open up in the group... And ultimately that's how he found her so in my mind some of the members had some level of responsibility in her death. But the handyman, a complete stranger prior to that day lost his life getting in the middle of that crazy situation that had nothing to do with him. Because he tried to protect a woman from an abusive psycho scumbag. Men get wrapped up in life altering, or ending...situations over trying to protect women all the time. Whether it be extreme situations like this, or what's described in the song, or just simply getting into a fight on behalf of a woman... Yet to hear the new age, feminist types squawk these days, they'd have you believe that men hate women and the natural male tendencies they try to oppress in society are called toxic and young men and boys are being demonized and demasculinized...trying to make them take on female characteristics and deny their evolutionary biology. But if they'd stop playing up to the woke ideology and admit that women want and need men to act like men in society, we'd be much better off...
As an older NOT feminist woman, I find it quite ironic that the extreme feminists expect men to protect women, to be more responsible than women when drinking at parties and to literally run into burning buildings for women all while those same women are trashing men. Makes no sense.
💯 about Rip from Yellowstone. Sticks up for Beth and fiercely defends her, but tells her she's a pain in the ass and loves her anyway. That's why we love Rip.
This is a beautiful story I survived three abusive relationships I have scars but my fiancee saved me and I'm happy safe and healthy took 5 years to deal with this trauma
Thank you for sharing that my friend. Hopefully you’ll impact other woman to leave their abusive relationships, and be loved by someone who cherishes them, and wants to protect them. 🙏🏽❤️. - C -

So common today. The abuse has been going on for far too long. A lot of men today don't have what older men have. A lot of guys are to soft unfortunately
What I like about this is she can’t make the mistake of going back. Don’t ask why…it’s something I can’t explain…but sometimes DV victims like me go back until something major happens. I wish it didn’t take such a hard shake to wake me up, but I’m glad I did.
@@norasnow1975 I went back ONCE, he begged and pleaded for a second chance on the condition that he did rehab, he was like the man I married for a while, then the abuse started again, only this time he wasn't drunk. it wasn't the liquor, so I ran with the kids, it was hard giving up on someone like that, but protecting my children was worth it.
I think it because it's love and minus the alcohol the relationship is fine but when spirits are added it subtracts from the love then turns to abuse because of blind alcohol fueled rage.. the man wakes up from a drunk night and has no idea of who or what took possession of his body. Hanging on while hoping for change but whiskey rules that life forever until they stop drinking.. but there are some men who do not need any alcohol or drugs to beat on a defenseless female, it maybe they were abused as a child or mental problems. It's weak, pathetic and non moral humans that could even think about hitting God's most beautiful creations.. "women" 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Love Hardy’s voice and Lainey’s and them together on this song is just perfect! The song is spot on for what you would hope someone would do for you if they knew what was happening to you!
pretty cool and he left her his truck. What a real man would do to protect a women. A shame he ended up in jail. I love this song. Wish we had more men like that.
Hardy is from Mississippi as well as myself and alot of us still have a value in our lives to help folks in need. And the way i was raised was to never lay a hand on a women
I totally understand . My best friend went thru this and hid it from me for years . Until 1 day she called and asked for HELP. to get away . No questioner's asked . And when her husband came looking for her , I SAID why don't you beat me , like you beat her. He stepped back and I told him to leave . I have called the Police. It took a Year for her to not be afraid , I remember she accidently broke a plate and raised her arms and said I'm sorry . It broke my heart. She finally moved on and was no longer broken and was a very independent woman and strong as well. We are still friends and call each other Monthly . We were friends since we were 13 and 14 yrs old and still 45 yrs later. She is re-married as well. We call and even talk to each others kids.
I love this song and when it first came out I cried because I have been through an abusive marriage and my daughter later came across the song and video and sent i.t to me and said Mom this song made me think of you. She never knew all I had been through from being molested as a child all the way to many things even up to now but the past few years have been totally opposite and Jesus really is the answer to everything. He completely did away with all of my hurts immediately even the hardest ones you bury deep but when you have been through so much and then so depressed at times you finally give i.t to Jesus and find your peace. God Bless You Guys!
Every time they start singing "have mercy on me" I get chills and a little bit teary eyed. It seems so unfair that he is in jail although I do understand why he is.
I have to say that the Hardy and Lainey song is amazing my girls get so mad because she didn't fight harder for him I'm a southern woman from Kentucky I was brought up in the sticks in the holler whatever you want to call it but that's one thing we were taught a man never puts his hands on them if you see it happen step in and do what you got to do
I don’t know about anyone else’s reaction to this song, but I think it’s really good. If HARDY is country, rock, part rap, etc, he is a great writer and is touching on important topics. Like this song.
I have been in that situation and I'm able to say it's not something you want to deal with but the police told me "just tell us what mile marker you leave him by and we'll send someone to throw out what's left" when it's bad, good police understand
You two boys are brothers, aintcha? I love the way you both talk, and the obvious brotherly love between y'all! You fellers are what this country needs one hell of alot more of right now! I just subscribed, keep up the good work. ~Donny, Kansas farm boy~
Nope. That phrase refers to ANY firearm you intend to use as 'justice'. I first heard that phase 50 years ago, and also used it myself, which was decades before that revolver model was even created. Also, the revolver in the video is not a Taurus Judge model.
I have to say this wee was that man when I was being beaten daily that song really hit home I was not sure 😢how I was going to react when i admitted to myself again that i was that girl once but i am no longet nor will i ever be yes it hurt deep to listen to the song really didn't want to show emotion but I was not able to hear it and not cry but nobody realizes how many women or men yes people men to that are abused every 5 minutes or less thank you for the song 😢maybe people will pay attention to the stranger standing anywhere beaten up and not jump to bad assumptions and try and help more
Maybe Brian was aware of that, but I am just starting to realize that Heather. He is quite the accomplished musician, and songwriter. 🙌🏽 Thank you for watching our channel, my friend, and make it a great day. - C -
Having a daughter who was horribly abused by her husband, this song brought me to tears. It's cyclical and never stops, how many times I wanted to, but...he sits in prison now, for doing this to the next wife.
I am obsessed with this song right now and came upon your channel while watching reaction videos for it. Loved watching two men's take on the message of the song. Will definitely watch more of your videos. And as a redhead, I had to say hi. 🙂
As a dv survivor I love this song, I get emotional when I hear it but I love this. And yes that Yellowstone thing is very true. It’s why I love rip so much 😂
REAL men don’t beat women ! And women shouldn’t beat on men ! But a man who takes out their bs on a woman they know won’t fight back is not worth the oxygen it takes to fill his lungs !
This is the first video I've seen from you guys and if this is your views then you have a life long fan. Not bc you condone violence but bc you stand up for what you believe in. God bless you and your families for holding on to the values you were raised with.
She said that she doesn’t know if he’s an angel, but in a sense, he was an angel to her. Because he stepped in and stopped the abuse that she was enduring.
as a victim of DV- one Christmas eve- i had to run literally for my life with my daughter and niece in tow- it was raining and so cold. no one stopped to ask anything,. i got to a pay phone and called his dad WHO brought the brother who was a cop. He saw my face and then led his brother from our house to go to christmas dinner with his family like nothing happened. I called my sister and she came and took me to the ER. it was so bad my own mother called my work and said i was in a serious accident so no one would know.
I believe Justice is served. I once was a young man who grew up in family abuse I can guarantee if I've ever saw a same similar situation where she has been hurt and bleeding I too like Hardy would do the same when I saw this video I cried I bawled I went crazy if you have bad PTSD and you honor women be aware when listening to this song it should have came with warning labels
Love this! Funny you mentioned Yellowstone as Lainey has been on a few episodes this past season! She is amazing and I love her music. Some one else mentioned the “judge under the seat” line. Great line! It is important to listen to the lyrics in this song.

I caught it the first time I saw it, and have noticed not alot of people are catching either. I think it’s because they aren’t familiar with the firearm
I know what you’re saying but I don’t think that’s what he actually meant in the song. The pistol he grabbed was not a judge.

I get chills every time i hear this song it hits home with me
The deep sigh you gave toward the end was sooo genuine. Ya just can't help but be moved by this song
I am so happy that you found God and a good man!
You survived, thank GOD
Being a survivor of domestic violence this song gets me every time. Beautiful song
as someone who dealt with an abuser, I agree. no did not do what he done, but did beat the crap out of him and waited outsdside for the cops. 4 days in county, and released no charges filed. guys on the inside had mad respect for me also.
I love the song and it speaks to what a lot of Southern men would do in situations like this
Yes, sir, it does.
Literally no one does this.
@@dcinsc I mean most people wouldn't go as far as to kill the guy but they would beat his ass
@@dcinsc mess with my kids or wife, it will happen. Consequences be dammed
@@bradleyknowland6129 that's not the story of the song.
And she's still drivin the truck.
I prayed for someone like this years ago..
We love Lainey Wilson!!!
Yea I was right!!!
Thank God it isn’t Walker singing.
Not sure if this is Lainey Wilson or not but we love you on Yellowstone and keep killing it on stage girl, you're doing a great job!!!
Lainey Wilson plays one of the rodeo girls in the bunk house on Yellowstone. She plays Abby the blonde that was the girlfriend of the old guy and then went to Walker.
“… than the place I sent him to. The lyrics in this song are amazing.
Good for you!! Much love @Twisted Pixie, cute name btw!! 💖🙏🏼🤗🕊🎄
@Kismet Thank you and thank you!!
This song was released just over 1 month after my ex attempted to choke me after slamming me into the wall. Luckily, I had a "judge" of my own and a best friend who picked up on some vague text I'd sent and called 9-1-1 for me. But I can 100% say, I would do the same for any DV situation.
I wish they would do another song from a child's perspective. Heartbreaking 🥺.

Wow crazy sad story, yes feminists these days are crazy. I think in part sone want attention and jump on whatever is trending at the moment.
As an older NOT feminist woman, I find it quite ironic that the extreme feminists expect men to protect women, to be more responsible than women when drinking at parties and to literally run into burning buildings for women all while those same women are trashing men. Makes no sense.
Ron Goldman died protecting a woman he had just met.
I love this song. It hits home for me. I cry every time I hear it.
You don't even need to see the video, you can picture everything just by the way he sings it. That's talent!
❤️ 🙌❤️
Love the Equalizer movies too!
💯 about Rip from Yellowstone. Sticks up for Beth and fiercely defends her, but tells her she's a pain in the ass and loves her anyway. That's why we love Rip.
I would have never guessed these two were a couple. Kudos to y'all for not fitting the "stereotype" 💯🤜🤛
🙏🏽❤️. - C -
@@CedricandBrian thank you I have accomplished 2 criminal justice degrees one associate degree and a bachelor degree now in for my masters degree for forensic psychology I thank my soon to be husband for his patience as I just turned 48 and have a year to go. My future husband saved me from the most violent relationship of the three I had I'm alive thanks to him and I'm using my degrees to council women and help the police put offenders away it is my drive thank you again
Hardy and Lainey made something that’s all too common today. I think it touches so many people, not to mention their amazing talent. ❤
So common today. The abuse has been going on for far too long. A lot of men today don't have what older men have. A lot of guys are to soft unfortunately
This a battle song for anyone who is abused by the person who claims to 'love' them.
One of my favorite songs. The judge under his seat was the judge. Nice reaction. I'm not a big country fan but I. Love. A good song
What I like about this is she can’t make the mistake of going back. Don’t ask why…it’s something I can’t explain…but sometimes DV victims like me go back until something major happens. I wish it didn’t take such a hard shake to wake me up, but I’m glad I did.
My family cut me out of their lives, because I went back. How do you explain it to people when you can't even explain it to yourself.
Best line in the whole song is " I just sat on the porch smoking one of HIS cigarettes"
Note that she drove off at the end in his truck. Love this song. Can't stand abusive men. Lainey was amazing singing with him.
Hardy is from my hometown of Philadelphia, MS. Wonderful talent. Wonderful family. Congratulations, Hardy!!
He is definitely an incredible talent. Thank you for taking the time to watch our channel. - C -
Same! Well…I’m from the country of Neshoba County, but I still claim Philly!
One of my favorite reactions to this song so far ✨
Not all heroes wear capes. ♥️
Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing with us on this platform. God is good 🙏🏽🙏🏽. - C -
This guy's voice gave me goosebumps! Great reaction!
Every time they start singing "have mercy on me" I get chills and a little bit teary eyed. It seems so unfair that he is in jail although I do understand why he is.
I’ve loved that song since the first time I heard it.
Do the right thing simply because it’s the right thing to do regardless of what it costs you.
her comment about Hardy being an angel .... he was .... an AVENGING angel .......
Love that you brought up The Equalizer, it's one of my all-time favourite movies!
You two boys are brothers, aintcha? I love the way you both talk, and the obvious brotherly love between y'all! You fellers are what this country needs one hell of alot more of right now! I just subscribed, keep up the good work. ~Donny, Kansas farm boy~
The judge under the seat I believe refers to a handgun named the judge a Taurus 45 it shoots both 410 shotgun shells and 45 cal .
Nope. That phrase refers to ANY firearm you intend to use as 'justice'.
I first heard that phase 50 years ago, and also used it myself, which was decades before that revolver model was even created.
Also, the revolver in the video is not a Taurus Judge model.
The pistol he used was a Taurus Judge ---
“I just put it in drive, looked in those eyes and asked her where he was.” 10/10 epic line under emphasized here.
Impactful song.
I have to say this wee was that man when I was being beaten daily that song really hit home I was not sure 😢how I was going to react when i admitted to myself again that i was that girl once but i am no longet nor will i ever be yes it hurt deep to listen to the song really didn't want to show emotion but I was not able to hear it and not cry but nobody realizes how many women or men yes people men to that are abused every 5 minutes or less thank you for the song 😢maybe people will pay attention to the stranger standing anywhere beaten up and not jump to bad assumptions and try and help more
Hardy is the best songwriter in country music right now
Maybe Brian was aware of that, but I am just starting to realize that Heather. He is quite the accomplished musician, and songwriter. 🙌🏽 Thank you for watching our channel, my friend, and make it a great day. - C -
songwriting at its best. Good Country music is always relevant.
Tell McDonald's new song Friday is going to be killer seen a preview of it this morning
As a dv survivor I love this song, I get emotional when I hear it but I love this. And yes that Yellowstone thing is very true. It’s why I love rip so much 😂
I don't know if he was an angel because angels don't do what he did. Umm Yeah no. Angels in the texts were savagely violent. Righteous but brutal.
I agree, sometimes you have to turn over a few tables to get your point across. Thank you for watching our channel.

He gave up his freedom, to give her freedom back. Beautiful....
REAL men don’t beat women ! And women shouldn’t beat on men ! But a man who takes out their bs on a woman they know won’t fight back is not worth the oxygen it takes to fill his lungs !
This one got me, and your hit the nail on the head with why we love Rip so much. Got me in the feels. Also ....new Tom video Friday ...#Ghost
Any man who doesn't shed a tear for this song isn't a real man.
👍🏾👍🏾😢. - C -
I'm 62 and get goosebumps and shed a tear every time I hear this song, and I'm not ashamed of that.
Wishing you guys an early MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR'S
as a victim of DV- one Christmas eve- i had to run literally for my life with my daughter and niece in tow- it was raining and so cold. no one stopped to ask anything,. i got to a pay phone and called his dad WHO brought the brother who was a cop.
Love this song, love Denzel and the Equalizer! They were both EQUALIZERS❤❤❤
I love the equalizer! Can’t wait for the third movie to come out!!
Wow, is there a third one coming out?! I’ll definitely have to check that one out. Thank you for taking the time to watch our channel. - C -
RIP...every body loves 😍 a rough/tough looking cowboy...yessss 👌
This is for all DV survivors BLESS YOU ALL ❤️
Absolutely amazing song and video! Pure country song and a real man!
Love this! Funny you mentioned Yellowstone as Lainey has been on a few episodes this past season! She is amazing and I love her music. Some one else mentioned the “judge under the seat” line. Great line! It is important to listen to the lyrics in this song.
Love all your reactions. Cedric looking great today!
The analogy of Rip was great.
Hardy is a STORY TELLER, this video is best one I've seen in many years.. tells the story perfect like Hardy was
It is so touching because if you've gone through what she did, it's a giving
Exactly about Ripp
This song gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I hear it
Thank you for showing your hearts!
Our pleasure Tina. DV affects way too many people these days, and I wish there was a way it could be eradicated. Thank you for watching our channel. - C -
I left my exe many yrs ago. Had him arrested. The bruises go away, memories don't, but it got better over time.
