    "I didn't hide my pistol
    I didn't even try to run
    I just sat on the porch smoking one of his cigarettes
    waiting on the cops to come."
    That's the most cold blooded line I've heard in a long time.

    "I might be here forever, it ain't paradise that's true, but it's a whole hell of a lot better than the place I sent him to" is one of the coldest lines ever written

    I smoked one of his cigarettes, and waited for the cops to come. One of the coldest and most brilliant lines , in music history.

      Facts!!!!

    • @sunshynff
      @sunshynff 9 місяців тому

      Well I sure hope you don't tell your daughter that, it would be way worse if you were her father, but judging by your screen name you're her mother, and while I too have a daughter (adult now), and I understand fully the blood lust to kill a mofo if I found out they laid hands on her, you gotta realize the message in this song is so wrong and harmful to young girls, and boys, out there.
      My thing is, how bout we put the emphasis on teaching our daughters how not to end up in an abusive relationship, and what to do if they end up in one anyway. AND start teaching our boys how to act right, unfortunately that's a taller order because as soon as people start doing that, the alpha male d-bags start crying "woke" because their actually snowflakes. Have you taught your daughter to use that Judge properly and safely, so it's not ingrained in her mind that she needs to just stand by, or wait in the truck, while someone else handles the abusive person in her life?
      I'm not trying to throw shade at ya, or tell ya how to be a parent, I promise, it's just that I was paramedic for 27yrs, our station was a safe house, and I've volunteered for a few woman's shelter in my time, trust me when I say, if they even think a tiny bit they need help taking care of an abusive partner, they will rarely ask for that help, and it's literally almost never a parent they'll go to. Think about two scenarios where your daughter is scared to tell you she's in an abusive relationship....
      1. She's scared to tell you, but doesn't have the coping skills to realize his apologies don't mean 💩, and stays with him til one day you find out, or see her injuries, you go and get your Judge, have a couple seconds of satisfaction, and your daughter has to visit her mother in prison the rest of your life.
      2. She's scared to tell you, but she has the skills and forethought to know that there is absolutely no forgiving or 2nd chances when it comes to abuse, and after the very first incident, dudes belongings are in the front yard and the cops are called, she never tells you, but that man, and no others ever lay an abusive finger on her ever again.
      Just food for thought, thanks for reading if ya made it this far, take care and be safe out there. ✌💚

    In my imagination, there is a back story where he was either too young or not brave enough to mete out some justice for either a friend or relative, and now he has decided he will not let that happen to another woman, if he can help it. It was just too much for him to take.

    This song sends such a horrible message to young women out there, in fact all it does is help reinforce the basic mentality that leads to women finding themselves in an abusive situation in the first place, how can people not see that!!??
    What is wrong with today's country music and those that listen to it, my God, I'm so glad most of the greats like Cash, Hank Sr., Glen Campbell, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn and others like them aren't around to see this garbage, they're probably rolling over in their grave. Especially Tammy n Loretta, they both had tough upbringings, and suffered from abuse at the hands of men, and I can promise you they advocated for the EXACT opposite message this song is sending. It truly saddens me at the amount of people commenting and praising this song's message. Come on folks do better, especially if you have kids, daughters or sons!

    • @Shortnsweet0101
      @Shortnsweet0101 5 місяців тому

      True country music sends this message several times over the years. The greats would be praising this song. Murder is not always the answer and violence begets more violence but the fact that a man did not think twice to avenge a stranger sends an amazing message and I pray that my son would become this type of man!

    • @MSTiekims9952
      @MSTiekims9952 4 місяці тому

      Exactly how does it re-enforce it again? Miss Tammy was out there singing “Stand by Your Man” and other songs aimed at staying with a man in a troubled relationship. Then we got Loretta singing “You Ain’t Woman Enough”, even though her husband was cheating on her. Sure - they were pillars of teaching women how NOT to be in abusive relationships. Give me a break….

    • @sunshynff
      @sunshynff 4 місяці тому

      @MSTiekims9952 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Sure, I'll give ya break since ya made me laugh so hard, I was having a crap day until I read your response, thanks I needed that!!!
      You're obviously not a fan of either woman and/or don't know the roots of country music, typical modern fan of bro-country, let me guess you also live near the outskirts of the suburbs and drive a fancy pick-up truck and buy $200 designer jeans already faded with holes in em and think you're living that down home country life, right?😜
      It is a well know fact, especially to even moderate fans of Tammy Wynette, that she absolutely HATED "Stand by Your Man" and spent her whole career down playing it. It was her first hit. She had 3 kids and left her husband, moved to Nashville and became a hairdresser, after months of getting turned down by everyone in Nashville a big producer took a chance on her and offered her that song. She hated it, and said she didn't stand by her man, but he insisted it would be a big hit and make her lots of money. She had 3 kids to feed and was about to get kicked out of her apartment, what did you expect her to do. Oh and PLEEEEZ name one other another song of hers that were "aimed at staying with a man in a troubled relationship"???? She had songs called “D-I-V-O-R-C-E,” “Apartment No. 9” and “I Don’t Want to Play House Anymore”. Oh and she got divorced 4 times, and EVERY single one of them, SHE SERVED THE GUY PAPERS AND LEFT THEIR A$$. She was a role model for feminists and women taking control of their own lives.
      www.npr.org/2000/10/28/1113153/tammy-wynettes-stand-by-your-man
      As far as miss Loretta Lynn, that's almost even more hilarious. Yeah, she stayed with her husband for 50yrs, and yeah, he cheated, but I'll let her tell you about that......
      "I married Doo (Doolittle), when I wasn't but a child, and he was my life from that day on. But as important as my youth and upbringing was, there's something else that made me stick to Doo. He thought I was something special, more special than anyone else in the world, and never let me forget it. That belief would be hard to shove out the door. Doo was my security, my safety net. And just remember, I'm explainin', not excusin'... Doo was a good man and a hard worker, but he was an alcoholic, and it affected our marriage all the way through. Also, for the record, he never hit me one time that I didn't hit him back twice."
      Here's some other quotes of hers.... “I didn’t write for the men, I wrote for us women.”
      "I love my girl Dolly Parton, but while she begged Jolene not to take her man, I'd threaten any woman I caught comin' on to Doo with my fists!! You think you’re something? Well, you ain’t woman enough to take my man! Life isn’t pretty, so women shouldn’t hesitate to stand up for themselves"
      She's the godmother of the feminist movement, she was telling men to sit down, while she stood up when it was almost dangerous for a woman to do that.

      I promise you both women would have despised this song!!! I truly pray you don't have any daughters, or any influence over young women/girls in your family, teaching them if life gets too tough, or you can't handle something, you better hope you have a man to fix it for you while you just wait in the truck. For that matter I hope you don't have any boys either, who will grow up to be someone that randomly comes across a crying beat up girl on a rain soaked road, and then after knowing her for all of 2min, doesn't take her to get treatment, doesn't notify the authorities or lift a finger to confirm her story, he just goes and takes another humans life, because ya know, the pretty girl in the wet shirt said he was mean ex that beat her up, and woman NEVER lie in order to get their current lover/husband/boyfriend in trouble or have something bad happen to them, right???
