Not really that related, but dave chappel did something similar, but instead of an ongoing story, he loves to make a joke then goes back to it later on in the set. It was awesome, and really shows how these comedians really got a hold of their craft.

This is what Ricky Gervais was talking about when he says comedy can come from either a place of love or a place of hate - this guy's jokes cover topics that a lot of people would be scared to talk about, but he tells the jokes from a place of love and acceptance and it shows through his delivery and word choice. It's not about "making fun of" people, its about "laughing with" people.
Loved the material, delivery was smooth and natural, physical comedy was dead on. Absolute pleasure to watch and hopefully I'll see more, soon! :D

Comedy shouldn’t be something is coming from a place of love or whatever that is considered as place of “hate” because all of those things are subjective to every individuals. Comedy is an art form just as much as music, drawing, poetry, and paintings are. And like every single one of those individual forms, a person creating them or what’s funny in this case are creating from perceptions of people or group in real life, or anything they fond comical, but we (comedians, and yes I am one of them) can’t do that with the level of freedom with the amount or with the KIND of jokes we’re making, whether it’d be about race and stereotypes, or personal things affecting us JUST LIKE an art form. Now I haven’t heard the reference you were making with what Ricky Jer said, but it sounded to me like he was saying what I’m saying in this here post: which is comedy SHOULDN’T matter on the kind of place it’s coming from, as long as it’s meant to be funny to someone even if it’s just funny only to the comic making them. I don’t know what you do for a living or if you have EVER take a step on a stage, but nowadays comics has to deal with these overdramatic and easily triggered audience that is coming from MY GENERATION: the millennial. If you want to get a better perspective on how audience of comedy has pathetically changed over the years which is from not easily offended to now taking it to twitter or BLOG or articles and write about how INSENSITIVE a joke is go watch how comics free talked back in the early 2k with partially-scripted (for the host or during an act or a play they have comics do on the show with Collin Quinn.

I truly believe the only way to be accepted in this world is if it's free to make fun of you. If you say something is off limits and any joke whatsoever is racist/ bigoted towards any one group, you will forever keep them in this precious box of fragility, and that box of fragility is set aside on its own shelf, never to mingle with the other boxes on the "normal" shelf.
Comedy is how we laugh at the absurdity of the world around us, we are all meat bags flying on a rock towards our imminent death. Everything that fills that gap between birth and death is absurdity! Highlighting and pointing it out, allows us to take in and accept our differences, our shortcomings, or habits and our stereotypes. If you want to be excluded from social norm forever, make it off limits to make fun of you!

I don't think it's a matter of comedians being afraid to tell certain jokes, just that they have higher standards. Comedians know sexist and racist jokes are the easist to craft and thus, are the go-to material for inexperienced comedians. As the comedian progresses his jokes become more nuanced. When jokes about sex and race are their only set for years, it becomes apparent the comedian can't move beyond that threshold of amateur-level sets and he's labeled a "hack." Moving behind sexist and racist jokes, believe it or not, is an indicator of professionalism and talent.

He didn’t really say anything outright funny, but heavily relied upon a routine consisting of comedic voices and mannerisms. If you analyse the content, juxtaposed alongside delivery you can see the appeal to women. His target audience. If he were to perform in an all male environment he would have been abysmal.
I’m not being critical, as he made his target responsive, ultimately, he made them laugh. There was nothing risqué, which is why he lacks appeal to straight men. Oh, the blind gag was as close as it got.

@@lynnyrouse8192 As I said this entire channel ONLY has clean comedians. It is the very basis of this channel. So it is ignorant to claim it is so uncommon to find a clean comedian.
Also what is wrong with vulgarity? By far the funniest people in the world are often vulgar. Unless you are a child then there is zero wrong with vulgarity. It is an important part of real life - impossible to get by without being exposed to it. So if you have an issue with it you will struggle in life. Simply understand it and it will no longer have any hold over you.

@@VestigialHead Thank you for replying. The comparison to the hundreds of channels that include vulgarity, makes this one rare.
I can see by your reply that vulgarity is acceptable to you. Okay. That's good for you but not for me. Every word that comes from my mouth has a consequence as well as the company I keep also affects the consequences of my life. It is wise to speak constructively than waste time speaking words that don't do anything, don't take you anywhere. One day I will have to give an account to Jesus for every word I spoke as will everyone on this planet. Make your words count.

    • @VestigialHead
      @VestigialHead 2 роки тому +1

@@lynnyrouse8192 I find that a really odd position to take. Words do not have consequences. Only actions do. You cannot actually harm anyone with words. People think you can but that is simply not true and more an issue with the weakness of that person.
If anyone is offended by words then that is their problem - not the one using the words.
While I agree that it is good to speak constructively that has no correlation to vulgarities which can certainly be part of a constructive criticism. Just as non vulgar words can be part of non constructive criticism.
Also there are some cases where being constructive is NOT called for. There are times when you should be venting your emotions about things that you disagree with. There is a time and place for vulgarity and it harms no-one (except maybe children who are too young to understand it).
Vulgar words are some of the most descriptive and anyone who does not use them will struggle to be as good at communication as someone who uses them intelligently.
At the end of your statement we come to what your real issue is with vulgarity. Religion. That is the only real reason you think vulgar words are not okay. Religion causes many such issues as this and it is why thinking people everywhere should be doing all they can to end the Dogma and lies that religion has and continues to spread.
